I hope he is at the big greyhound track in heaven with his mates Ronnie Allen and Jimmy Dugdale.

I remember him playing, reliable with the type of consistency ,that some of our current players can only dream of having RIP Ron

Too young to have seen him play but he was Assistant Manager to Vic Crowe when I started going to Villa Park. Rest In Peace Ron

Sad news one of my favourite players of the late 50s and 60s, terrible decision to sell him to Blues at end of 64/65 season, when he was still in his prime having won the fans Terrace Trophy award and named Midlands Player of the Year. Served us as assistant manager, reserve team manager, and community liason officer, until he retired in 2002.

RIP Ron

I met him once at The Sty after a testimonial game for Frank Worthington in 1986. He was proudly saying he had captained both Villa and Small Heath. He was also talking to Graham Turner about a trip to the Scottish cup final to do some scouting. The player in question was Neale Cooper. As I had a pen and autograph book with me as a cheeky fifteen year old I took the opportunity to sign my name on the big picture of Worthington all the players had signed. I also seem to recall Ron Wylie being in charge of the infamous Villa Park Steve Hodge backpass game against Norwich

Didn't realize that. At least he had the sense to give him the hook but alas not enough sense to have done it earlier such was his negative contribution throughout.
