I can see why some people might be uncomfortable with it but like Amfy suggets, I dont think there is any malice or racial intent in it at all. It just fits with the song.
It was 5 blokes singing it in a pub, but the way that throbber Collymore has been banging on about it, you’d have thought all 40,000 Villa fans at the game on Saturday were singing it all game. It’s a poor choice of song, but he’s given it way more exposure than it would otherwise have had.

It’s not a great example to set.Belting out ‘woah black Tammy.....’ does not sit well with me.Why not something like ‘whoa our Tammy.....’ that would have fitted just as well.
Quote from: KRS on May 13, 2019, 03:59:33 AMIt sounds nothing like Black Betty I don’t know what song you have heard but it sounds exactly like Black Betty. That is the main defence for it really - it scans really well!Tbf - the word ‘black’ in this chant is in no way being used as an insult, and the clear intent of the people involved was to try and create an original chant for a player they love, but it’s just uncomfortable, weird, and one for the bin.
It sounds nothing like Black Betty
I've only ever known, heard and sang the "Ooooh Tammy, Tammy" one.
