Barrie Rhodes

just my own tribute to a man who I went to Villa with from 1978 onwards

during the late 70's - mid 80's we went to virtually every match home and away, yes they were the glory years and on greatest days of my life I was standing/sitting with my mate Barrie
sadly was only 68

since I moved further south we stopped going together, but still met up from time to time,
the last time I saw him was outside Wembley stadium, which is quite fitting

also it must be said that the staff at Villa Park were excellent,
he had a season ticket in the Witton (DE) stand, his wife asked for his mates who he only knew from sitting near them on match days could be told, they handled it all with great care and consideration

when one of the men asked for his address the Villa official said he would get back to him, and he did, they were able to attend the funeral today in Coventry where I met them
its been said before many times, things might be crap on the field but they do come up trumps with stuff like this

so long Barrie, best football buddy ever
