Random Villa references in non-football related books
« on: September 16, 2013, 02:51:37 PM »
........just to prove I really should get out more..............

References to Villa in books, fiction or non-fiction but not football or sport related, and to start us off:-

"Lonely Planet- The Cities Book" Page 504, the city of Male' (Maldives), one of it's "strengths" is "Curious street names rather than numbers-watch for Crabtree, Sweet Rose, Sun Dance, the grand River Nile, the strange Ozone or even Aston Villa"

  • "Bloodline" by Mark Billingham. Page 194- " 'Another tenner says Spurs lose tomorrow.' At home against Aston Villa. Should be guaranteed at least a point. It was Spurs though..."

Go for it

Apologies for the cock-up on the bullet points front, I'll leave it as is though  for fear of making it look even worse

Well Larkin mentions us in his poem 'MCMXIV', or VP anyway:

'Those long uneven lines
Standing as patiently
As if they were stretched outside
The Oval or Villa Park...'
