The new camera angle is virtually at the same height and angle it was for most of the 80s and early 90s. In 1993 when the Doug Ellis was built the camera angle switched to high up on its gantry and stayed there until the 2000-01 season when the camera was placed at a low height on the new Trinity Road Stand. It remained there until 2004 when the camera angle returned to its original position in the Doug Ellis.

Fair play Deano, that has put this thread to bed.

I'm sure there were cameras in the usual position at the top of the Witton as well as the new position in the middle. I hope they stick with the camera at the top of the stand because, as 'eric woolban' just said, it's easier to see the game develop with the camera higher up.

Was it the same angle the ref saw Gabby clock Kyle Walker on?  The rest of us didn't see that at all.

My fovourite angle is from the camera at the back of the North Stand. It always shows Villa fans' arms going up in the foreground when we score.

I noticed that too.  I don't like it, it's much more difficult to see what's going on.

Noticed it and don't like it. I'm not saying camera angles should be as high as they are in Italy, but you've got to be able to see something more than a five-yard radius around the ball.

Like the old days where the camera was low down in the old Witton Lane stand.

They used to be mounted on scaffolding on the Trinity terrace and would have to be low enough down not to block the view of the seats behind.

Fratton Park is the worst. Since Pompey's financial troubles it seems the taxman has taken their gantry.

I like it. I loved watching the fans in the Holte go bananas when we scored. The higher angle made it look like the fans were politely applauding.

I didn't like it vs Spurs, but it looked pretty cool on Saturday when we scored. The lower Holte looked even more packed for some reason from that angle. Maybe it's just growing on me
