Is that the lyrics to the theme tune of the Stoke version of Cheers?

The Torch keeps on burnin'.

I went to a Mod 'do' in Stoke a few years ago. Word obviously got round the Five Towns and the Naughty Forty turned up. It was the best pub brawl ever, and we won.

Is there anything good about Stoke at all?  Horrible town(s), horrible football ground, and the bit of the M6 that runs past it always seems to have an accident on it.  Must be people falling over themselves to get away from the place.
A500 out of it.

It's a brilliant road that, like a giant boomerang that allows you drive through without getting out and takes you straight back to the M6.

Like a high-speed Safari Park.

In the interest of some balance... I think Tony Pullis has done an amazing job at Stoke - European Football / established Premiership team / their first FA cup final / promotion from the Championship (I'm not saying that I like the brand of football and I admit I probably wouldn't be saying that if I had to endure their particular brand of football each week) but from where I'm stood he's worked wonders  for them especially with their resources. He also seems like a decent honest bloke (seem to recall him doing various charity work) - All that said... NO I don't want him to ever manage Villa and yes I was at Villa Park when we spunked a 2-0 lead under O'Neil.

Oh I almost forgot... nice article Dave (maybe you can save the Bent issue for the next issue)

The Old Victoria ground was a right dump but they've surpassed themselves with that new ground. Non descript void of a place. Worst ground in the UK. Yes worse than theirs.

A well presented, objective view on why Lambert took the more cautious approach with his subs, of which I was critical at the time.
