People laugh at me when I say that Jay Lloyd Samuel could have been one of the best left backs in the country.
Bags of natural talent, but lazy and arrogant.

like a lot of players in modern times

Luke Moore?

In fairness, he seems to have got his head down and he's been a useful squad player for Swansea.

Yeah he's surprised me too. He's score some important goals for Swansea last season and this season. And in all truth I thought he'd have fallen down the leagues by now, but fair play to the lad, he's still in the top flight...and in a more successful team than ours...shit...

They shouldn't do - he could have been.

I remember when he lost it with the villa fans at a pre-season frendly with Walsall one year...it was really funny!

I didn't find it funny when Hendrie booted the ball at full pelt in to the Villa fans at that game.  That was the day I decided he was a tw@t!

I was convinced that Jlloyd was going to be the long-term left back for England.  He had so much potential it was untrue.  What the hell happened to him?

Maybe he just over performed for about 12 months?

Before and certainly after he was pretty mediocre, Warnock lite.

I wholly disagree that Hendrie wasted his talent. He played 250 odd top-flight games. So what he only got one cap, so did Brian Little and he is still revered by some. I think he made the most of his talent and I don't share the view that anymore application would have made any difference. maybe he has carried on playing because he needs the money, maybe its because he genuinely loves the game and he's still young enough to continue to play. Maybe he got annoyed at Walsall because we turned on a player because decided that they didn't like him.

He's a product of youngsters being paid lots of money to play football. We can't sing their praises, celebrate their goals, laud their abilities and then criticise them and demonize them if they don't turn out to be what we decide is acceptable.

A decent contrarian rant, I would say; but when anybody uses the phrase "by some", I always think of a certain Malcolm Everall aka Mrs Overall, formerly of this parish.
