Villa 3-2 Middlesbrough Rumbelows Cup 1990

Decent game this a couple of days after my 12th birthday, terrfific goal from Tony Daley and another penalty from David Platt - he seemed to be scoring penalties left right and centre at that time. Also one of the last goals i think we ever saw from Ian Ormondroyd.

Didn't miss a home game that season but must admit I have no recollection of that whatsoever. Another cup of Alzheimers dear?

Funny how it came back to me seeing ormondroyd's goal, I think I was there, we got lucky with the penalty.

I can remember it, they scored those two goals when we were thinking of the quarters. Shame we got whacked at Leeds.

How did they manage to fit in all the fixtures?

Was the Rumbelows Cup also the Simod Cup and Area Zenith cup?

We lost in the next round at Elland Road, then after the game heard The Gulf War had kicked off. My one mate who was about thirty was telling me and a couple of the other lads in our late teens how we were going to be called up to fight!
