Xmas Day 1951.
« on: December 22, 2010, 03:43:34 PM »
The last time Villa Park hosted a xmas day fixture. A 3-3 draw with Wolves.
Just for good measure we played them again at Molineux the next day winning 2-1.
No squad rotation in those days, same team for both games.
Martin Lynn Parkes Blanchflower Moss Dorsett Smith Thompson Walsh Dixon Goffin.
Xmas day fixtures must have been popular, the attendance was almost 50,000.

Oh to go back to those days. Can you imagine telling Ash he's got to play twice in two days for 2 and 6?
