Well I have been racking my brains (which didnt take long) as too who else there was.........England duties rule out Trott and Bell, Maddy had it and resigned, none of the other batters are sure of a place unless u give it to the newcomer Porterfield. Woakes would have been my personal choice but he is young and I hope will be in the England reckoning come the Summer

Agreed.

Troughton didn't justify his place in the Championship side last season. but he wasn't alone in that.

He did well when he assumed the captaincy in the 20/20 so he is the logical choice.

Longer term, Porterfield is a good bet. He handled himslef well as the Ireland captain and has the right materials. Probably needs a year at a new county before stepping up.

Great news.........Chris Woakes named in Englands T20/ODI squad, about time too, Hope he gets a chance as im sure he will become a regular soon (Bell and Trotty also included)
