John Stewart Mill, of his own free will on half a pint of shanty was particularly ill, Plato, they say, could stick it away, 'alf a crate of whiskey every day, Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, Hobbes was fond of his dram ,And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, "I drink, therefore I am."

Archimedes was quite a useful player though.  Scored the only goal in the Greek Philosophers V German Philosophers football match as I recall.

I saw that.

Some cracking beards on display. Backcombed and luscious IIRC.

Almost rivalled the Bulgaria v Hungary match in the mid 80's as far as excess facial fuzz was concerned. Impressive, as two of those Bulgarian players were actually 6ft human hair follicles. True story.

Engels wrote the match report.

Nietzsche kept on bringing everyone down.

However, Karl Heinrich Marx claimed it was offside - typical German, still he got his own back with the Revolution.
