Platt's competitive Villa debut and his 1st goal - I think he had played in a friiendly against Monaco about a week earlier.

Another great day out.
It was the first time I'd seen Steve Archibald play in the flesh and his performance always sticks in my mind for some reason.
The old Darwen End was ace, we stood there when we went back to Ewood in the cup not long after.

I was there. Up for the weekend to stay with my brother who was then at college in Preston. Little did I know that not quite 4 years later I'd be relocating to Lancashire - and have stayed ever since.
Exeter 77, you're right in respect of Platty.

I went to this game in the old 2nd division, Blackburns win put them briefly top of the division at our expense; Archibald and Garner were the difference on the day from what I remember. For some reason I also remember us not getting the whole end behind the goal and some of it was left empty, and the crowd of about 17,000 was their biggest of the season.

I went up on the official coaches for this one and I'm sure they played "We Are The Champions" at the end of the match.

Spot a young (though still bald) Chris Price in the line up for Blackburn.

Great aftenoon I think it was 2-2 but I forget the scorers (I know I could look it up but this is the memories section after all). I do remember it pissing down though.

I was at that match. Travelled over from Newcastle for it.
It seems like 100 years ago. David Platt actually feeling "something" for the Villa.
