Heroes Discussion / Re: John McGinn« Last post by Bobby Boy on Today at 07:29:13 PM »I absolutely fucking love the man. Probably my favourite ever footballer. I’m 45 and love him more than the heroes I had when I was 10. Yeah, he's my favourite Villa player of the last 40 years for sure. Just everything about him. He plays with passion and intensity and no little skill and so often drives us forward. The fact that he's stayed with us says that he cares about the club. Added to this he comes across as a really good guy. There aren't many out there like SJM. 73

From Championship to Europa winning captain will cement it and would be some story to tell. 74
Heroes Discussion / Re: Will we qualify for the CL?« Last post by eye digress on Today at 07:28:13 PM »Definitely that. In my view, given that it seems unlikely to affect us directly, we should be hoping that they make it into the CL and that he is retained.ManU were shit under Amorim, as soon as he was binned they sadly stopped being shit. 75
Heroes Discussion / Re: Aston Villa Women 2025-26« Last post by cdbearsfan on Today at 07:27:31 PM »Eleven points clear of the relegation playoff place now, Leicester still have five games but two of them are Arsenal and Chelsea. That should be another top flight season secured, then. Hopefully finish well to get some momentum for next year.

I was skeptical when we Re signed him, not on ability but on attitude but he's been a great pro and and excellent signing this time. Today really summed that up and with Kamara out I'd much sooner have him than not. Like someone else said, I feel more confident when he's in the side, very classy and plenty of experience.

A great performance. We should have been three up.at half.time. Five up at full.time. McGinn back..Tielemens back..Happy days again. 78

They really added to the the atmosphere. Nice, as an older bloke hearing some of the classics from the 70's and 80's. Hope the club let them stay there. Good to know they hit that perfect beat, boy. 79
Heroes Discussion / Re: Will we qualify for the CL?« Last post by paul_e on Today at 07:23:46 PM »Taking Liverpool and Chelsea fixtures into consideration, I think we’ll need 9pts from our next 5 fixtures (takes us to 63pts). If we do that, then I don’t see Chelsea being good or consistent enough under Rosenior to catch us or Liverpool…so worst case scenario would be 5th place. To stay in 4th, we may need to get a draw when Liverpool come to Villa Park…but if we take care of our own business in the next 5 games then it will be done and dusted by then (hopefully).Think Pat MacMahon was pointing at 63 points a number of weeks back, and that still feels about right (i.e., no more than 4 wins in the last 7 games for Liverpool or Chelsea, with 2 of those being head to heads, and a further 1 for Liverpool being against us). If either of them manage that, frankly that will have been a superb performance. I think there’s no chance of that happening for one, let alone both. I've been saying 63-64 for a couple of months, any higher required 3 teams all going from something around 1.5 points per game to 2 or more and that was always unlikely. 80
