I’m hoping that Man City beat Brighton 16-0 and then we win our game against Brighton to get into the Europa on GD. Failing that, given that Brighton likely have 6th secured, I would hope that we have far more drive, passion and energy combined with a genius Emery game plan to finish the job off and qualify for the Conference. Providing us a launching point for many years of successful league campaigns and European competition appearances. Hopefully a few trophies along the way.
But what a journey this has been. Let’s get this done and enjoy an amazing summer.
Prediction - Villa 3-1 Brighton - Watkins, Bailey, Buendia
-
Really looking forward to it. The atmosphere is going to be awesome. The players seem up for it too.
People talk about 5 year plans in football, but the last five years has taken us from losing play-off finalists to the brink of Europe.
Even though we've had some shit times that felt awful, we've actually progressed every year except last season. But that was a season where we lost the player the team was built around and the manager who built it, and then appointed a complete newbie.
Let's get into europe with a win and start the next new era. ;D

Just to point out the title of this topic is slightly out- according to BBC Sport the kick off time is given ( as with all Premier League games that day) as 4.30pm. Wouldn't want anyone missing out on 30 minutes potential settling of nerves drinking time.

Cheers. Corrected. You’d actually just be 30 min early to the party ;)

So many times in my nearly 50 years supporting this club we have had opportunities to progress only to fall at the last hurdle - not this times my Villa boys - 2-0
-
2-1 to the Villa. FTF!
-
Villa to win by 2 goals.
-
Man City 6-0 Brighton
Villa 6-0 Brighton
Villa qualify for the Europa on GD
Spur battered at Leeds for good measure and it will be funny as Leeds find out Everton get a late goal and point vs Bournemouth
-
2-2 and both Spurs and Brentford to lose.
-
2-2 and both Spurs and Brentford to lose.
I don't think my ageing ticker could take such a scenario.
-
90 mins
Villa 1-2 Brighton
Leeds 0-1 Spurs
Brentford 1-0 Man City
We equalise 90+5
Leeds equalise 90+7
Man City equalise 90+9
A nice relaxing Sunday to end the season.
-
All of that is likely other than us conceding twice
-
I'm not sure if Bentford is a typo or not there...
-
As I stamped around the garden in a rage, having just watched our meek surrender against Bournemouth, if you told me that Sundays scenario would come about there is no way I would've believed it.
And this is one of the reasons we love the game, you never know what's going to happen. Unless you follow Stockport City where the outcome is as inevitable as Gerrards removal was on that sunny August afternoon.
I'm not going to make a prediction, I'm just going to enjoy the day and whatever happens, show appreciation to the Manager, his staff and the players.
-
Can’t wait
-
Well done and congratulations to Brighton on a great season. Your hard work and focus has paid off. It must be difficult being in the continual unrelenting pressure cooker atmosphere of the Premier League for nine months but thats it now, you are over the line. You can now sit back and relax taking it easy knowing your position is secure and start your well earned summer holidays.

What biscuits are we talking?
-
This will be a cracker of a game. Bet the atmosphere will be unreal.
Villa win. Emery masterclass.
-
2-2 and both Spurs and Brentford to lose.
I don't think my ageing ticker could take such a scenario.
A Highbury or Swindon away scenario!

Hang on some of us live down here, its actually quite nice. You did miss tree hugging, no atmosphere, leave early, 15 minutes in the limelight before they go back to supporting chelsea and MUtd ...

Some of them seem to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder about us for some reason, from what I can glean it stems from not bowing down and letting them win the Championship and then enjoying beating them in the League Cup when we came up.
-
When I lived there, they had the temerity to be in lower divisions than the Villa so I never had the convenience of popping up the road to watch us. And the Goldstone was a shithole.

With a cup of tea? These badboys surely ...

Someone just said to me that they think Europe would be too much for us for next season. Bollocks to that, we can get the required squad to compete on all fronts. I’m not being greedy but, Europa Conference cup, FA cup and League Cup would be ok with me. Forgot, top 4 finish wouldn’t go amiss either!
-
Everyone else can fuck off with their opinions. We have one the most successful managers in European competition. The last thing we want is not to have that opportunity every single season. We will be solid in the league next season and I expect good runs in all of the cups.
-
Our biggest roadblock to competing at the top is earning enough revenue to let us spend under FFP.
Europa Conference League pays just under 3m euros just for getting to the group stage, plus up to 3m euro win bonus across those six group games and 600k euros if we win the group. Add in another £3m in match day revenue for the extra home games in the group stage alone plus any higher payments for sponsors if we play in europe
Then if we progress, the prize money per round is decent;
Round of 16: €600,000
Quarter-final: €1,000,000
Semi-final: €2,000,000
Runner-up: €3,000,000
Champion: €5,000,000
That’s a great additional revenue stream that can be spend on improving the playing squad.

Brighton always remind me of our championship season when they suddenly appeared in the first division. As I remember when we beat them in October we went top for the first time. They also remind me of Gregory's quip (who played for them in the 80/81 season) that Brighton wouldn’t know Gareth Barry if he stood on Brighton beach in a blue and white striped shirt, a ball under his arm and a seagull on his head
-
I always think of the last game of the first championship season when Grealish scored in front of the Holte to deny them the title. I live in Sussex and since they a) got that new stadium and b) they've been finishing in the top half their shirts are now everywhere whereby some of them have decided they can dich the big six shirts as someone nearby is now worthy of support - although a lot of the youngsters are obviously still wearing City shirts now. Anyway I don't think my mates dad has forgiven us for stopping them winning the league, he's been bitter and spiteful everytime we've played - and mostly beaten them- ever since.

Yeah, absolutely. How many times do you need to finish 8th or lower in order to compete in Europe then? It's complete bollocks. Let's just qualify for Europe first then worry about our 3rd choice keeper options later.
Next season, I want us to be going for blood. Europa Conference winners and a top 4 finish.
-
I can see us winning 2-1 and Europe here we come.

I was at that Brighton game. John Gregory was in the Brighton team, they scored first but we went on to win 4-1 and, as you say, go top for the first time in that unforgettable season.
-
For me I hope we win and qualify but it won't be the end of the world if we don't as we have a lot to look forward to next season and beyond. I'll need to become a member again to have a better chance of tickets too.

Teaching in Croydon. It was quite a rush to get the last train to London
-
I'm seeing a very tough game, I can't see them on the shit stony beach. That said, Villa Park will be rocking, first goal key, if we score first it could be a slaughtering. They score first and it will end up a draw. Hopefully Watkins can find his shooting boots again.
4-0 Villa (Konsa, Moreno, Buendia & Watkins)
EDIT: 4-1 to 4-0. Martinez will want a clean sheet.
-
I like the stoney beach at Brighton, it's sand that's stupid.
-
Brighton have been 'feast or famine' recently, either taking a battering or dishing one out in 6 of their last 7 games. Their away form in particular is very binary. We need to get right at them early on and dominate.
3-0
-
Get the ball in behind Lewis Dunk, there's container ships stuck in the Suez canal that turn quicker.

The same Lewis Dunk that the media are suggesting Mouthgate is going to pick - probably over the Likes of Mings / Konsa
If Dier and Slabhead are anywhere near the squad then it is a complete joke

I fucking hate sand. And it's cousin, glitter.

3-0
This, Watkins, Ramsey, McGinn
-
Good result for us tonight imo. I'd have been more worried if Brighton had lost tonight
-
We match up against them a lot better than we do when we play West Ham or Brenford for whatever reason.
Only lost once v them since coming back up and Gerrard rolled them over comfortably home and away which takes some doing.
They'll come and have a go so up to us to do what we've been doing very well in last three months and matching their intensity and waiting for front players and Ramsey and McGinn to exploit the space they leave behind.
I'm pretty confident on this one. It feels very un Villa like to think we'll seize a chance of winning to make europe but if you can't have that air of assurance after the fantastic run since late Feb then the next few years are going to be very strange indeed.
-
Think we need to be very careful with our playing out from the back as tonight Brighton put a lot of pressure on City’s defence and goalkeeper when they were passing around at the back.
They are are reasonable side so hope we are at our best on Sunday.

Should be a good test for us
-
I think it's more the other way around. I can see your boys flying out of the traps and if Brighton aren't careful we could see the same result as the Everton game. I'll be honest, I can't see any other result than a win for Villa on Sunday. I've been a Brighton fan far too long to have any hope of us giving the opposition a decent game on the final day of the season. Remember the Villa-Brighton final game a few years back in the Championship?
I never like seeing Brighton lose but I won't be too upset if it happens. Can't speak for the entire Brighton fanbase but the general consensus amongst my mates is that we'd love to see Villa finish above Spurs and take that last European spot. Not just because Spurs fans all seem to be whiny, entitled & arrogant, not just because it would be good for English football but it would also be payback for when VAR and the ref blatantly rigged the result when we played them at WHL.
I genuinely think there's a shift happening in English football. The Big 6 as we know it will soon cease to exist. City will still be the dominant force but their main rivals will be Newcastle. As for the other 5 they've all lost their aura, they're all beatable, no-one's scared of them anymore and the gap in quality between them and the rest of the PL is shrinking fast. I'm under no illusions about Brighton, we're punching well above our weight and we've probably hit our ceiling but it's a different story with a club of Villa's stature and potential. There's no reason at all why you can't consolidate and build on this year's success and genuinely challenge the likes of Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs for a top 4 finish next season.
Best of luck.
-
Cheers pal, a decent post with a lot of respect. I think a lot of us are in awe of your scouting network and how well your players are coached.
-
Cheers mate. I don't know how much longer we'll be able to have an advantage over other clubs with how we scout players because there's a much better understanding of how it works. Chelsea made the mistake in thinking it was our head of scouting. Newcastle thought it was our Director of Football. Spurs and Liverpool have the right answer - it's from data analysis - and both clubs have said they want to move towards that. Not sure how successful they will be though because they're not the sort of clubs to nurture and develop raw talents or give them much game time. They like to pay top dollar for the finished article.
A downside to using this model is that it does have a negative impact on homegrown youngsters coming through our academy. Sussex has never been a hotbed of footballing talent so it's not a massive problem at Brighton but could be for clubs like Villa, Palace, Boro, Sunderland, Leeds.
-
Sussex has never been a hotbed of footballing talent
I have a young man called Gareth Barry here with me. He. Is. Distraught.
What do you want me to tell him? What?
-
Gareth Barry is v.much the exception that proves the rule! Off the top of my head, the only other footballer from Sussex who played regularly for England was Peter Bonetti. Technically, there's also Gareth Southgate but he loves Palace, hates Brighton so he doesn't count.
The only current first team player from Sussex who came through our academy is Lewis Dunk and right now our brightest academy prospects are from London & Ireland. There's not an awful lot that can be done to fix this. There's nowhere in Sussex that has the same demographic or culture as places like Croydon, inner city Brum or Sunderland.

Tell him to speak to Michael Standing.

Why didn’t he take the Penalty?

If either Everton or Leicester score early on Sunday then maybe Leeds players will just accept their fate and give up.
I think we will draw 1-1
-
They're a really good side, but we must want this more than them - I think we'll nick it now.
-
I see all 3 relegation battlers getting at least a point.
I think Villa will win 3-1.
-
We've got to be right on it, but I'm hoping they take their foot off the gas a bit after their excellent result yesterday. This is a big test for us because our Achilles heel has often been getting the result we need to. Emery has definitely improved us in terms of focus and composure. I hope we hit them early, then try to take control of the game whilst we're ahead.
I suspect Leeds will get something from Spurs, who have already hit the beach. Not sure they're all that enamoured with the idea of a conference league as their inflated expectation is top 4 every year.
It'd be a massive kick in the plums to lose out on Europe last day. Ollie is due a goal too, I'm really hoping we get off the blocks quick and go a goal up. One thing we still need to improve on is conversion and getting ourselves 2-3 up when we're in the ascendency. So we've got to be clinical when we're on top.
Long suffering villa fan in me says 1-1 and Spurs win.
Head says we will just be on it a bit more and win 2-0. An early goal, a bit of unease in the middle and a late settler.
Heart says 3-0.
-
It's hard to predict really, but I think we will win.
If they'd beaten Man City yesterday, they'd have a shot at 5th place. But now they're confirmed 6th regardless, so there's more in it for us. But still you'd expect them to want to go out on a high too.
I think we will have a great atmosphere, the team will go for an early goal, possibly even changing ends to attack the Holte in the first half again. We're going to fight for it.
Hopefully gone are the decades of getting close to something then shitting ourselves.
-

Maybe we won’t play out from the back. Newcastle set up to press our game from the front and Emery bypassed it and the rest is history. One thing I think we all have is a huge confidence in Emery. He’ll have a plan, will have watched hours of Brighton’s play. I think he’s up against a very good coach but what he’s better than most at is putting together a plan for every opponent.
To win, Watkins will need to have a Newcastle type performance but our midfield is more than capable of winning the battle. A tough 2-1 win for us.

I agree. I think we need McGinn to be at his hounding best and his arse to be top of it's game.
Against Newcastle, when Watkins hit the post in the first minute it sent them a message. Seconds later, their left back had recovered the ball and was idling looking up the pitch deciding what to do with it and McGinn just hit him and stopped him in his tracks, sending another message.
We need to be that solid again. Same as against Spurs. They need to know early on they're in a fight.

Let’s hope Digne is at it at left back. He’ll be our main attacking option out wide due to the injury to Moreno. On his day he’s a good fullback but he doesn’t have the pace of Moreno. Maybe Cash will play at right back and Digne will stay at home. This will be a very interesting tactical battle between 2 very good coaches.
-
Is Moreno definitely out?
-
Is Moreno definitely out?
Nothings been said yet. I’m just going on what I saw at Liverpool which didn’t look the best. Let’s hope not but it didn’t look good.
-
He wasn't in the training pics posted yesterday, though that's not always an indicator.

At least Digne seemes to be fit though, which is good. Was worried we'd be without both of them, which wouldn't be positive at all.

We've never lost at home to them when there's been a crowd. That won't change Sunday.

I’ve just watched that 5 times in a row. That picture of him looking at the Holte at the end, iconic.

I think the best bit of it is the "but you've spent £400m" comments from the salty blues fans who are conveniently ignoring that being over 4 seasons, it including ~£150m to rebuild the squad after we were promoted when we had about 10 senior players left on the books and us also bringing in the best part of £200m in sales.

They count every penny and know every detail about our club. They still deny they are all obsessed. Same goes for Sandwell.

I was gutted about the draw on Saturday. I really hoped we'd be on the frame for a Europa League place. If we miss out on Sunday I'm not sure how I'll feel. They looked good but then Man City weren't trying that hard either.
We will be well up for this. Ultimately I'm grateful we're on this position given the start we had.
-
We are well used to getting rammed in the collective Villa 'nads Drummond so it won't be *too* bad if we do miss out. I think that finishing in the top ten is entirely acceptable, given where we were recently. However, having seen the potential we have under Unai 'Gora Euskadi' Emery, it is equally acceptable to be wanting us to FTF and get into Europe. I honestly think we can do it.

I’m in a similar space, but if we fall short I’ll be gutted.

I can’t actually believe that we are actually 3 points away from qualifying for Europe!!!!
Is Unai a god or a genius or a little bit of both.
Either way it’s just astounding what he has achieved in a few months.

Due to the World Cup this is about the first time in my life that the Villa will be playing on my Birthday. I’m 55 and I just want one win, just one.

Louis Debono was a made man in the Gambino family who was whacked by Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano.
So I’m guessing he’s a Cosa Nostra enthusiast like me, unless he just coincidentally has the same name. Or Sammy and DB faked the whole thing and he’s still alive.
-
It's a shame we conceded that late equaliser to Liverpool and lost to a crap team like Wolves.
If we hadn't, those few more points would have had us in a Europa place. Still, Conference League would be great.
-
Happy Rotterdam Day everybody!
-
Honestly, fuck these no marks, they've finished 6th and think they're the new incarnation of Johan Cruyff's Ajax. How many times have they won at Villa Park in their entire history? Once?

It's the age old story. A club spends a few seasons in the premier league, gets a few plaudits and a run in europe, and suddenly they think they're 'established' in the top flight and one of the big boys.
They never are. They're the new Bolton, Ipswich, Wigan, Portsmouth, Blues, Baggies...
I don't mind their doing well, I wish the current state of football allowed more clubs to go on the journey they are on, but how quickly it makes sections of the fanbase lose perspective it's ridiculous.

You missed out The Dingles, the biggest example of the phenomenon.
I enjoy watching Brighton but it will mean more to us than them so reckon the extra motivation will make the difference.
-
That is exactly what I hate fans of this sort of club - nb not the club, what they have done is admirable on lots of levels, but the fans.
Where were the vast majority of these when their local club was teetering on the edge of extinction for years playing in front of two men and a dog in a back garden someone had lent them?
Wearing Man United or Liverpool shirts and watching ‘their team’ in the local, that’s where.
Their opinions are null and void for me.
In the end regression to the norm will happen to them like it seems to be about to to Leicester.
They’ll be as much the future of football as Swansea ended up pretty soon.
-
They are a notch up from some of those mentioned but all a bit more Blackburn 2007, Swansea 2012, Saints 2015 etc... genuine over achievers with a production line of talent which could be sold for big money.
Keeping that model going is hard - as Leicester have found to their cost seemingly.
-
I've said it many a time. You get a no mark club with twelve thousand supporters, who spend most of their leisure time being told by their Manchester United-'supporting' 'mates' that they should support a proper club. Then they get into the Premier League, their 'mates' realise who they've really been supporting all their lives and their ground is full of families there for the authentic Premier League Experience with painted faces and clappers. At which point they start thinking of themselves as our equals.
-
Digression but it still pisses me off that Swansea won the League Cup 10 years ago when it was ours for the tekking.
-
That does seem a bitter set of posters on that forum - unlike the fella who was on here earlier.
-
Honestly, fuck these no marks, they've finished 6th and think they're the new incarnation of Johan Cruyff's Ajax. How many times have they won at Villa Park in their entire history? Once?

When they reference the injustice at "White Heart Lane" a few weeks ago, you just know they are well-informed, diehard supporters.
-
I don't see the problem with the BHA message board, it's fairly typical of the sort of things we write every week. I actually quite like Brighton, they play a great brand of footie and the way they develop players is to be admired. They are also not a part of the scum 6 and are attempting to break-up the monopoly, like us. More power to us both !
Of course I want us to win the last Euro spot, so hope we beat them soundly on Sunday but their continued success would not bother me in the slightest. in fact I'd applaud it.
-
I'd rather have Brighton doing it than Spurs or Chelsea. They've got a few people getting carried away on a forum, big deal, so do we.

They brought up SheffieldUnitedHawkeye so you know they're proper supporters.

People seem to forget the point we should have had at Palace that year when Lansburys goal was disallowed for..... still trying to work out why. Deduct us the Sheffield Utd point and give us the Palace point and its the same thing, we'd have survived.
-
One poster said they 'owed us' a beating.
Fuck off, you haven't been competing with us long enough to owe us anything.
They can get to fuck.
-
Most Brighton fans I've met have been sound, if I'm honest.
Twats on the internet are just twats on the internet.
Draw at best this Sunday. Thought fatigue would be kicking in for Brighton with the volume of games they've faced in the last part of the season after the cup run. But not so.
For other clubs, the prospect of losing two of their better players this summer would set them back. But BHA must be growing 'em in the back garden. There's always plenty more.
-
I hope Emery remind the lads of thier coaches comments when we beat them at thier place.
Claims of "time wasters" and even had the neck to call us "boring"
Hope we boringly put 4 up them....then waste some time

Absolutely this. Bloody upstarts. A double over this lot would be very welcome.
-
We were under pressure for a lot of the second half so we probably did time waste. We'll probably be moaning about teams time wasting against us next season. It's the natural order of things.
-

Agreed. Big difference between them and the likes of Chelsea/MC.
-
I’m in California this week up near Yosemite. Will be fast asleep for the game and hope I wake up to good news.
Would really like Everton and Leeds to get relegated, but will settle for a Leeds win just in case.
-
I've had a good regard for Brighton ever since the 1971/72 season when we and them were promoted together from the old Third Division. Both games between the two teams were featured on Match of the Day. Brighton that season were managed by Pat Saward, who played for Villa in the 1957 FA Cup final. Their average attendance that season was almost 18,000, not at all bad for that time in that division. Ours of course was somewhere around 30,000 but then we were unique.
-
It's the age old story.
It's worse when it's a club from the Midlands and all the 'mind the gap Villa' and 'pride of the Midlands' nonsense starts up.
It's OK though because as soon as they come up, the clock immediately starts ticking on the countdown to when they will be mid-table Championship fodder again.

Didn't Brighton have to go and play at Gillingham for a season or two after getting turfed out of Goldstone Ground in late 90s?
Then they played at that bizarre Athletics stadium for most of the 2000s so they did lose a generation of match going fans from all that mismanagement until they moved to the Amex.
Not a club I'm that fussed about either way, just hope they're not 100% on it tomorrow!

Yes, their fans had to travel 70 miles to Gillingham for a couple of years and then the club found a temporary home in Brighton at the Withdean, a totally unsuitable athletics track (but not as unsuitable as where West Ham play).
Living in Sussex, I know a number of Brighton fans and I'm pleased for them at the club's revival. It's a great feeling for a fan that your club's never been higher in the league than at the present moment, and the way they've achieved this over the past few months is really impressive. Of course I desperately want Villa to win tomorrow and take the next step in our own revival, but I do admire Brighton's progress.
-
Very impressed with Brighton - think this will be a score draw.
But I don’t see Spurs beating Leeds so Europe here we come 😀
-
Don't have any strong feelings on BHA either way but they're good to watch. Nice that potentially them us and Brentford will finish above 2 of the Sky 6, long may that continue.
-
Don't mind Brighton at all, play entertaining football, majority of the fans seem sound. Like others, I'd rather see them play in the Europa at the expense of Spurs/Chelsea, because it's funny.
Went on a stag do to Brighton ages ago, was a good laugh.

having lived there a few years mid 2000s no fucker 8 met supported them. All supported Chelsea. Never saw a shirt either. Not once.
Compare working in Cov for 7 years. Shirts everywhere despite what division they were in.
-
This is going to be a tough old afternoon. Just because they have "nothing" to play for doesn't mean they are going to roll over and let us tickle their tummies. There are still three points to play for and their professionalism should mean that we won't get it our own way. I see a draw and hoping for other results to go our way. I've been shaking like a shitting puppy all week every time I think about it. You'd think at my age, I'd know better, but 54 years of hopes and expectations getting dashed will do that to a man.
-
You young people!
-
I'm kind of hoping that Brighton saw the Man City game as their 'final' and put a lot of energy into it and are looking forward to the beach with the likes of the likely to depart, Mac Allister not wanting to get injured and having a break. They have guaranteed 6th place and have been excellent this season but am praying that coming to Birmingham for one more game is a nuisance to them. So desperate to get a positive result here and get back into Europe, I think it will be a huge pull on what players we are going to target.
-
Please for those going if we win dont invade the pitch at full time. It would be small time and embarrassing
Ive seen on some faceboon groups alot of fans saying they plan to run on the pitch 🤦♂️

For those wondering : FaceBoon by ChatGPT...
Introducing FaceBoon, the mind-numbingly banal and uninspiring group that has managed to drain the joy out of social media. FaceBoon prides itself on being the epitome of a vapid and superficial digital realm, where creativity goes to die and originality is mocked.
Prepare to be underwhelmed by FaceBoon's unimaginative and monotonous interface. With its generic layout and lackluster design, navigating through this virtual wasteland feels like trudging through a desert of boredom. Say goodbye to vibrant colors and captivating landscapes because FaceBoon has replaced them with a sea of soulless gray and mind-numbing simplicity.

Just occurred to me that in 2017 on the last day we had nothing to play for stuck in the middle of the championship- we then got an equaliser vs Brighton to deny them the title and the bar codes won it instead.
They looked gutted and angry.
Wonder if they have long memories and make it an extremely difficult afternoon.
-
The day is here. I hope it's quiet at work this afternoon as I will not be able to concentrate. 2-1, although in any case I don't think Spurs will do better than us nor Brentford beat Man C

De Zerbi:
Aston Villa will be another very tough game, they deserve to achieve Europe," he said. "Unai Emery has changed their season, and they have big players with a clear style of play.
“We have to arrive ready, the holidays have not started yet.
"We have to respect ourselves, the club and fans in every game and every training session we have to play seriously.
“We go to Birmingham to win and play in our way.”

We play the way that is necessary in the moment. The new way.

My memory of 2017 is that we dominated the game, even after they got a dodgy penalty and Baker being sent off

Actually a few of them do hold it against us, as rather than being a nice cherry on the top of promotion it would have been the biggest trophy they've won.

So I've been focusing a lot on performances under Emery, but today it's all about results. We've been threatening a big scoreline against someone at home, based on my observations of our football.
Forecast: I believe Villa will win and score a lot of goals.
I just think it'll be one of those games where everything goes our way, with us winning by 4, 5, or perhaps 6-1.
Come on, Villa!

Heh, that would be nice. Unless I've forgotten one, we have yet to give any team a real pasting under UE. Last one we doled out was the 4-0 at home to Brentford in the interregnum period.
I can't see it in all honesty though. Brighton are in too good a place to allow themselves to get stuffed like that. Odd goal in 3

I think fans remember it but it won’t mean anything much to the team.
However, it is a prime example of why expecting to win this because Brighton have nothing to play for is misplaced.

They are in a great place but have still lost 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1 in there last 8 games. But yeah I can't see it either and think it'll be 2-1.

I'm expecting Emery to demand it.

The players will embrace it.
Anyone not performing today can be replaced or upgraded.

After 5 days of total focus, deliberation, stress and constipation on trying to predict today's scoreline, I've come to the conclusion, I havn't got a fucking clue.
Gun to my head, 1-0 to the Villa (Bailey)
Bailey's dad will tell him he needs to score to improve his negotiating position and time is running out. :)

It doesn’t have to be eternal.
I’ve seen it about a hundred times, and the musical once.

I've had a look at this fixture on 11v11. I will not share my findings, as I hope any of you won't should you do the same, because the power of the jinx is alive and very real.
-
This is Aston Villa and you can guarantee they’ll put us through the wringer for the entire 90 minutes. There’ll be no 2 or 3 goal lead going into the last few minutes for us. 10 minutes of injury time with a 1 goal lead.
-

It all comes down to Richard E's simulation of it on FIFA'23.

On my way from Macc, Cheshire countryside speeding by, chilled out music on the headphones, feeling relaxed. However, tension is building and the old stomach nerves are starting. Come on Villa, let’s do this. UTV.

Well not quite. If us and Spurs both lose and Brentford win they get 7th. Highly unlikely with them playing Man City but it’s the last day and weird things have been known to happen. Let’s just win and make it easy on ourselves.
-
Let’s pray Brighton are on the beach.

Man City not busting a gut could still see them win by 2 clear goals. And bear in mind Brentford won there this season. Man City won’t want any team doing the double over them. Which helps us and Spurs eliminate one more team from the picture.
-
Best of luck today Villans. Not just because I want to see Spurs miss out on Europe, but also because I think it’ll be great having another English team in Europe aside from the sky 6, and it’s nice being able to cheer on other English teams in Europe whilst watching my own - something I absolutely won’t do for Liverpool or Spurs but will for Brighton and Villa.
-
Not feeling this nervous since the West Ham game when we just stayed up.
Got a feeling Leeds could get something against Spurs, but still hoping Deano can pull off a Great Escape.
I'm more worried about Brentford leapfrogging us, personally.
Just fucking win, Villa. Otherwise I'll have the Brighton-supporting contingent amongst the Noses in my family giving me grief all summer!

Doubt whether Brighton will be on the beach, has the makings of being one of our most difficult matches of the season, going Villa by the odd goal.

Taking my little niece along today... The club have mentioned wanting to have fans greet the team bus but no idea what route it actually takes to the ground... Anybody able to enlighten me?

Nothing ever goes as planned. We may have to follow what goes on live at Leeds.
-
Fuck me they are a bitter bunch those Brighton fans. We cheated like crazy at the Amex apparently and we celebrated stopping them winning the championship as if we'd won a cup. I wonder if they remember in that game getting a penalty for.absolutely nothing. And Nathan Baker was sent off too. And there were some dubious decisions that went there way in the game they beat us at Villa Park.

Could be Heaven or Hell.
-
Graham Greene these fuckers by smashing them against sticks of Brighton rock
-
You do know Olof Mellberg will be in attendance, don't you?
-
I hate these late afternoon kick-offs. Nerves beginning to kick in, the only thing that could make it worse is if we were after a Europa League place rather than Conference, not that I'm dismissing the competition, I want us in there and winning it.
Emery wants it. That should be enough for any Villa fan.

Unchanged team.
Bench is looking a bit sparse for attacking options again. Just Traore and Buendia. Coutinho has I think played last game for club with his non involvement last few weeks and Duran must've picked up a knock.

The best footage will be from one of the players!
