How about a thread of photos we've taken of and about the Villa. Could be Villa Park, matchday, kits, players, away days, or whatever really. It might just provoke some memories, thoughts and discussion. I like taking them and pretty much always do when I'm at a game, even if it's just one of the players lining up at the start.

These are great. Slightly different views of the ground at this time than the most widely shared/ available ones. It makes me think that it would be interesting to scan the archives to build up a comprehensive record of the ground in the Edwardian era.

I was at the game and completely missed the brolly as was too involved in what older folks would call a terrace mental. Great day even it was ruined by getting lost driving through Croydon and ending up on the southerly part of the M25. I’ve also just realised that was 30 years ago.

I was there. I always thought the late Brian Tiler headed his goal from about thirty yards though someone on here was clear that I was out of my tiny mind.

That’s a great picture. It would be good to find a version without the watermark. It must be the 0-1 game in 1993 which lost the first EPL title race.

Great photo Rory! My brother-in-law from Drogheda is the same age as Staunton and played in the same GAA team as him.

This was pretty special today. The pot of gold was inside Villa Park.

It is really an optical illusion created by the refraction and reflection of light. When sunlight passes through raindrops, the light bends, or refracts, as it enters the droplet, and then reflects off the inside of the raindrop. This happens because the water is more dense than the air that surrounds it. As it exits the droplet, the light separates into wavelengths. Visible light is made up of various wavelengths, and each wavelength appears as a different colour: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Red light, for example, bends at a different angle to violet light. This is why the person on the ground sees each colour at a different location, and why rainbows look like a bow or an arc.
