Saturday 3pm.
3-1 to the Villa. FTF!
-
Getting away from our brilliant signings, 2-0.
-
2-0

Just feel the Emery Express might hit a bit of a bump in the road in this one.
Villa 1 Lesta 1
-
They'll be buoyed by Big Brendan's 50th birthday bash. 0-3. Vardy, somehow, inevitably.
-
0-2.
-
6-0, fuck 'em.
-
Looking forward to a Sat ko at 3 nd indeed the game. Win and all the hand wringing about the window will fade, anything else and it'll be blamed on the lack of transfer activity. Has the makings of a half decent match.
4-2
-
Looking forward to this one.
If we win its world domination confirmed.
Probably a draw then.
But come on Villa.

I think he's injured, Vardy, that is, not Brendan. Never mind, they will pop in some guy who hasn't scored for thirty years for the inevitable winner.

You should have bunged-in a foodstuff.

We need to maintain our good results under Unai with a win against this lot! Interested to see who is on the bench Saturday. Hopefully it has players coming back from injury on it and some of the younger stars. UTV!
-
Just hope Ollie won't go and get himself injured now the transfer window's as good as closed...
-
You just know that Watkins is going to be clutching his hamstring after 30 minutes.
-
3pm…..on a Saturday…….Bloody stupid time to kick off a game of football ;)
-
Full back only area of competition really? Hopefully McGinn is fit enough to be back on the bench at least. Leicester will drop three into midfield so I'd like to see Buendia more at 10 to counteract it (and not wait instead until half time to do it). Going for a draw, Leicester aren't great but I'm not overly confident.
-
At least Marc Albrighton won’t be scoring against us at the weekend. Great pick up for the bitters
-
Brendan won't have to give much thought to who we might play
-
Brendan won't have to give much thought to who we might play
Why? Because we’re shit, have a terrible recent league record, have an idiot as manager and the stadium will be empty?
-
Brendan won't have to give much thought to who we might play
Neither will Unai, pretty sure it's Leicester.
-
Those ****** to win 2-1
I hate this game
-
2-1 and up we go
-
I think we'll win. Emery to out smart Rodgers.
3-1 win.
Watkins hat trick :)
-
I think we'll win, which normal means a loss.
2-1 either way.
-
Everyone taking their scarves on Saturday? Trying to get the atmosphere pumping.

I think we will beat them 2-1.

2-0

You have been waiting for this.

Thought I would buy a half and half at the ground.

Nah, bollocks to it, I'm on the back row of the upper North anyway where the camera never goes, nobody will notice.

That Tete from Shaktar for them looks pretty handy, quick and tricky with an eye for goal. Hopefully the international clearance takes too long for him to play against us.

That's 'Portable Executive Box' to you.
I set myself a little challenge each game now, to do a 'Rocky' and run up all the steps to my seat before the match
-
They have better players than their current form or league position, but their form is shite. Vardy out for them, Maddison back, win this and we’re literally miles ahead of them in the table.
Think it will be tight, but 2-0 to us, Watkins and Ramsey with a late goal to settle the nerves.
3pm on a Saturday, jumpers for goalposts, it’ll never catch on. Can’t wait for a proper Saturday footie routine.
-
I hope we win else panic will set in about our small squad.
-
Man City away and Arsenal at home after this so could do with winning this really.

McGinn and Digne back in full training. They should be on the bench. I’m pretty sure we won’t have two keepers this time.

If they're both fit you would think that the pair of them and Duran will replace Sanson, Sinisalo and Revan on the bench.

Well we need to win this, as Man City and Arsenal up next and can't see anything much from those two games, before back to our usual 6 points a season from Everton.

It has been down to 60-70 mostly single seats for a week or two now, which I imagine were the ST sell-on seats.

We are in the CL places in the So Far This Calendar Year table and Leicester are shite. 2-0

Despite results we haven't looked particularly convincing since New year's day. Can definitely see this being a frustration but I think we've turned a corner psychologically that means we can get the job done. Hoping to see a Duran Duran cameo.
-
Our form is really good right now, but I think anything other than a win against these and it will look decidedly average again in another two games time, when it could easily be three games without a win. I don't think we are yet at the level where we can confidently go up against the best two teams in the league with expectation of getting points. So I see this as a "3 points from 9" situation, and these three are critical.

Small in numbers and small in stature. That really is a team of short arses (with a couple of exceptions). We could do with a couple of strapping 6 and half footers in that team really.

Yes, but there's only really Mings who you would consider a "big unit" (i discount Martinez as he's a gk and Duran as he's a kid so is unlikely to be in the first team yet)
-
Kamara's only 6 foot, and is at best "willowy" in build, so not really a "unit" by any means. He's not soft, and neither is Watkins but they're never going to bully anybody.
-
Man City do alright they aren't overly big sides.
A possession-based game by El Maestro and we'll be fine with what we have
-
I don't want us playing like Peter Ebdon.

In advance of the following week, I'll say that we will defeat Man City.
Throughout the Gerrard and Smith years, we've had countless close calls, but Emery will execute a master plan and actually hold out for a victory.
Additionally, Man City will have a different lineup because they will be focused on their Wednesday away game against Arsenal.
Even if I'm incorrect we'll still have an excellent opportunity to defeat them.
-
2-0 A Watkins brace with everybody wondering what all the fuss was about.
-
Lots of Leicester fans round here. They want Rogers out and don't fancy their chances on Saturday.
Let's hope they've called it right.

1-1 or 2-1 to the Foxes this weekend.

We should beat these. 3-1

They’re missing a few key players apparently. Good.

Leicester cross me as a team with talent going forward but a bit shaky at the back. 2-2
-
Us 4-1 Them
Taylor (2), Draper, Yorke
Izzet for them
-
Its a derby game ....according to Brendan Rodgers.
-
Look at this pre match analysis and prediction from Chris Sutton on the beeb.
What an absolutely contradictory load of bollocks…..we really aren’t rated are we?
Basically, Leicester are shit, villa have been good but can’t possibly win.
Aston Villa v Leicester
Leicester still haven't won a Premier League game since the World Cup and are getting a bit desperate, although at least their draw with Leeds stopped a run of four straight league losses.
Villa, in contrast, have won three and drawn one of their past four games and, on current form, they have to be favourites here.
But the Foxes still have some good players and James Maddison should be fit enough to start - he might just make the difference.
1-1
-
2-0 win
-
They’re missing a few key players apparently. Good.
Like who?

Leicester are a funny one, a bit like West Ham you feel they should be doing better with the players they have at their disposal. Barnes, Maddison and Dewsbury-Hall are all quality players, and I'd be happy to see any of those at Villa.

Yes and it makes them dangerous.

Yes and it makes them dangerous.
It does but only Bournemouth have conceded more than them.
I think it’s the novelty of a Saturday 3:00 kick off but I’m really looking forward to this and expecting a good performance with a convincing Villa win.

Weren't cornalties/set-pieces Leicester's achilles heel in terms of conceding goals for the last 18 months?
I remember some commentator (probably Guy Mowbray and his braying voice) mentioning recently that they had brought in their own Nanny McPhee and it was beginning to show in a positive sense.

We have to hope we can out Nanny McPhee their Nanny McPhee. With Dougie stepping up they won't know what to do.

2-1 Villa
They'll sing that "your city is blue" nonsense as well.

Any news from Emery's pre-match press conference?
-
Fitness report from the club has Digne and McGinn available so expect both on the bench and then said Bert will resume training next week. No mention of Carlos but I think he's the only other injured player now so we should have a pretty much full squad to pick from.
-
Any news from Emery's pre-match press conference?
Summary is on the AVFC app now.
-
Unai Emery spoke to members of the media at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
With just over 24 hours to go until kick-off against Leicester City at Villa Park, the head coach gave his thoughts on facing the Foxes, offered an update on the fitness of his squad and shared an insight into some of the club's decisions during the transfer window.
Here’s what he had to say…
“John McGinn is going to be in the squad – in the 20 players we will have tomorrow. Diego Carlos is close to starting to train with us but, of course, he won’t play tomorrow.
“Lucas Digne has trained as normal with us this week. Bertrand Traoré is coming next week to start training progressively with us. Jed Steer is not yet ready.”
Traore
“I am sure and I am so convinced about his quality, and how much he can help us from now until the end of the season.
“We were following some players and analysing if they are better than the players we have or better than the possibility to have Bertrand Traoré back again.
“We decided that if we don’t have a possibility to sign a player who can improve our squad, improve our wingers, then we were sure – don’t do it.
“At the end [of the transfer window], I am so happy because I think we have players with big commitment and showing us good performances.”
Dhuran
“I can’t give him the responsibility and pressure now, but he’s a professional. He was playing in the MLS and that’s not like here in the Premier League but he’s training very well.
“He’s hungry to build up quickly and he’s learning quickly from his teammates. He has the possibility to play minutes tomorrow and to make his debut.”
Emery added: “Jhon Durán is going to improve and grow up with us. He’s going to play matches and get minutes.
“He’s going to be on the pitch and training with us every day. We signed him without wanting to give him the responsibility to be our striker in the starting XI, but if he will show us he’s ready to do it, I will do it.”
Leicester
“This season they started with a bit more doubt with their results, but they have a very good coach (Brendan Rodgers). He’s shown in the past, and he will show again, his capacity.
“They have very good players but maybe they are in a moment where they don’t feel 100% confident.
“In 90 minutes they play very good matches and they can have very good performances individually. They are towards the bottom of the table and they are going to try and win against us.
“We are playing at home, at Villa Park, and we need points because we can get into the top ten. I respect a lot Leicester; I respect a lot the players; I respect a lot the coach.”
-
Wrt injuries, McGinn back in the squad and Digne training as normal this week. Diego Carlos and Traore a week or two away from training. Very positive wrt Traore and Duran. Would rather have Traore back if we couldn't sign players with the quality to improve the squad. Duran training well and may make his debut tomorrow (if we're winning I'd imagine).
-
McGinn back in the squad straight away? Surely he can't get off so easily after he decided to sit on a plane for 45 minutes when he was injured?

Emery:
"John McGinn is not the first in my mind to be in the starting 11..."
He also said "'But I'm going to use him if we need him as JM very important for us"
"Use him" yeah , which basically means he may come on for 10 minutes, and of course the experienced manager that Emery is would say that as long as he's our captain, he's important. He doesn't want to create stories. It beginning of the end for McGinn.
To be so clear that JM isn't starting and is not first in the coach's mind says it all. Telling statement. So yeah, he didn't help his cause by flying away with Finance to Dublin.Replaced in the summer is my forecast.

Indeed, usually spend the whole night moaning about how stressful their job is (apart from BE obvs, he's great craic).

Is Bad English an English Teacher? ???

Let's funeral these crisps wankers.
Let's smoke their bacon!
Make them Ready Salty!

During the World Cup I note he was very much a French English teacher.
As one would be, I suppose.

I'm a teacher. I'm fucking ace both in and out of school I'll have you know!
Haha. Footy weren't you furious about what McGinn got up to outside of work? Dublin etc etc.
I can't imagine your reaction to an evening of soapy ladies and acid in Tokyo. Outside the classroom, of course.
Apologies it was wrong of me to make sweeping generalisation on that profession after hearing the cliche on accountants. I should not be so judgmental.
You two are great fun and good people though I'm sure far more wild at a little risqué for my lifestyle. So my comments were based only my experience- I was tainted.
Oh Axel that wouldn't be my idea of fun as it's immoral and illegal though maybe its a different law or culture.
Have a great fun weekend the pair of you!
Up The Villa.

Haha. Ok mate.
The acid part is certainly illegal here. Soapy women, not :D
Bottom line is: if I fraternised with either, my wife would have me strung up by my nads.

This is one of those games where 3 points starts to push us into the top spots.

What waa that about in the last match. There was a drone in the previous game, which was not acceptable because it caused a disruption. Did they ever apprehend the perpetrators? It would be unfair to single out Southampton, but I believe that if deliberate on stoppages and that if people are interfering with Premier League matches knownto club then a rule needs to be out in place. No-fly zones are not feasible, but this could become a widespread problem.
I've also heard Everton fans enjoy setting off fireworks at opponents hotels the night before a game. I'm glad it didn't seem to work because Everton rarely won, but these instances of people attempting to influence or interfere with matches are disturbing.
These sorts of things are not acceptable and seems to be the morden alternative to hooligans brawling in the pubs.

3 points today would be excellent - and really help, with 2 tough games after it!
Think it will be tough - but lets go!
-
I'm looking forward to this one for some reason.
That's not usually a good omen.
-
Waiting for my lift to arrive. Really looking forward to a 3PM Sat KO.
Trying not to look at the league table and see what a win might mean! UTV
Enjoy the traditions. Bring us the luck for the win!
-
I’m working today and we normally win when I work on a Saturday 2-0 to us

I'd say it would be almost impossible to catch the drone operators, and you're right it has got the potential to be a problem. Some of the drones have a range of 5 miles or more, so you could be sat in your garden shed in Small Heath with absolutely no chance whatsoever of being seen, forcing a match to be held up.

Deschamps' Bleus or Horseface's Engerland? I was torn asunder, honestly. But I'm definitely 100% France, win or lose. I'll glory-hunt if Engerland ever do well though.
-
Also, Baldy, I teach English in the French Éducation nationale, secondary system so I'm the equivalent of your old French/Spanish/German teacher but with less cleavage/no leather elbow-pads¹
¹Delete as necessary.
