Title: Newcastle United vs Aston Villa Pre-Match brekkie
Post by: Risso on October 25, 2022, 08:56:12 AM
Saturday 29 October 3pm

Looking forward to this one, hopefully we'll see a continuation of the improvement we saw against Brentford.

1-2

This won't be an easy game, but we're in a different place entirely since last Thursday. I would certainly be happy with a draw and elated if we were to win.
Same starting 11 as last Sunday with the same formation. Let's go for it and let them worry about us rather than the other way round. UTV!

My God how much I want to beat this propaganda arm, but honestly I'd rather not have the match at all. It's too depressing.

This is where i am. They have only lost one all season, away at Liverpool, so this wont be easy and they no doubt will be expecting to beat us. But they have also drawn with Bournemouth and i think  Palace at home.
We have to be wary of Trippier’s delivery into the box, but i do think without being Kamikaze, we should have a go at this lot. With the tweaks Danks made and the players being out to impress Emery, i have a sneaking feeling we could get a result here for the first time in years.

0-2 (Ings, Beundia)

They're not all that, we've got better players. Play anything like we did Sunday and they won't know what's hit them.

3-1 to us.

Howe is doing a great job up there. Their midfield still has Longstaff and Willock in it.

Well, well, well. How things have changed from the depressing need to predict the utterly predictable over the last few months.

They are flying and had we not appointed a new boss I would've said definite defeat, nothing against the current coaches mind. But perhaps the boost of Emery's imminent arrival may give us an additional uplift so lets' keep that feelgood factor to the fore.

2-2

Yes, this. Brentford were the savvy, bright young things and we made them look like absolute pub players to a man when we could finally be arsed. We can do this mob.

I'd start the same team that started against Brentford. Guimarães is their main man who makes the rest of the team tick, so Doncks could be tasked with keeping him quiet. Almiron and Wilson seem to be in good form, so the defence will have to be at their best, but there's nothing to be too scared about.

Nooooooo

Our whole team balance and movement on Sunday was improved without McGinn being in it - we actually lost a lot of fluidity when  Dendonker was knackered and had to be replaced.

Same team, same formation, same subs although Nakamba / Sanson to come on instead of McGinn when Leo tires.

Huge confidence boosting win on Sunday, another week for Danks to drill them and a watching new Boss - everything we could hope for going into this

1-2 Konsa / Watkins

Newcastle are very confident right now and we are generally always shit up there. Unless they are fighting amongst themselves. But I think we can sneak a point. Danks has nothing to lose and the players will be really up for it after the last game. Hoping Phil starts to believe again. I’ll say 2-2 - Ings and Bailey

I hate Newcastle and hate the way they’re buying their way to the top using money from dubious places with even more dubious human rights records.

They have some very good players but the rest are not great. The defense looks a bit ropey still and can be got at.
If we can hold out for the first 20 and take some or 1 of the chances we will get then we could get something.

Newcastle are very tough to beat. They're in good form. I'll snatch your arm off for a point. We're gonna have to match the Brentford performance to do that so here's hoping.

Totally agree but if we can stop them scoring, frustrating them, the crowd will get on their backs and maybe we can snatch a win. Let's employ some first class shithousery!

There's no point in looking. Newcastle supporters in general and that lot in particular have always been up their own arses so much they can see their intestines. The Mag used to run interviews with opposition supporters that basically had countless variations on two questions - 1) How jealous of Newcastle are you? and 2) How much bigger and better than you are we? The time to start worrying is when twats like that like you.

Chris Lowe and Dave Ball from Soft Cell went to the same school in Blackpool at the same time (although they weren't classmates, Lowe is younger). I saw Marc Almond live the other night in Cambridge and he covered the PSB song "Rent" along with a song both groups collaborated on this year. He described it as "The most influential synth duo and the most successful synth duo joining forces". Suicide and maybe Sparks in their synth/Moroder heyday might question the former opinion, but it got a hearty cheer when he proclaimed it.

Interesting that the 10 mins Danks gave Archer last week was more than Gerrard had given him all season. Easy when your 4-0 ip i suppose, but Danks really did make every call the right one.

I keep Archer as sub and keep giving him more minutes from the bench.

No doubt Eddie Howe's done a very good job there, only defeat so far has been at Anfield, when Liverpool got a 98th minute winner. Having been mocked by Grealish at the end of last season, Almiron is one of the most improved players in the league, Wilson is also looking like he's getting back to his best, after yet another injury. Would be happy with a draw.

The front three all did well last week. Archer will get his chance eventually.

I wonder if he'll tweak it slightly a bit today? Last weeks line up was very attack minded. Should we do the same away from home?

There's a geordie plays 5 a side with me on a Monday. He's an insufferable prick at the best of times so I need a resounding win.

At least I can keep banging on about where their money comes from.

Doesn’t say anything about Villa particularly, but having only lost one all season, this is the type of game teams with pretensions of top 4 but who in reality will probably finish 6th-8th, will lose. Also the fact its been 17 years since we won up there, all point to law of averages and us sticking it to them today. Cmon the lads!

On the train from Peterborough to Newcastle with my son. A really nice lad and his grandad have just got off at Doncaster to be replaced by a fat Newcastle fan who reeks of BO. Great.  Just the 90 minutes to go.

Newcastle will finish mid table at best, they are on a high at the moment but still have a lot of the players that were playing relegation football not so long ago. They will hit a flat spot.

My point is, he probably unofficially will

I have friends that are A level managers locally, and the amount of data they get from computer systems is mind blowing. He would be able to analyse all of our games from remote

And Danks confirmed that Emery hasn’t been in touch. How could he expect to have an input anyway, before he’s taken a single second of training?

I think it would be highly disrespectful of a manager that hasn’t even officially arrived at the club yet to usurp the authority and credibility of the current staff by having input in the side. One that has finally won a game, and well. And the players, most who don’t even know him would probably not take well to that either. Which is why I don’t think there is any chance of it happening. Would he have received analytics, data, film etc? for sure so he can review with his incoming staff.

I have seen the system, where even players in Faroe Islands, you can see running patterns, pace, how much they run, passes. This is available for anyone paying the license. So it's not like starting from scratch

I agree, but if they have (as rumours say) been in contact for weeks, this may not be against anyone, but with them

If its a Jimmy-Five Bellies type, does that mean he has 10 armpits, hence the BO?!

Lots of Archer talk. I’m sure we had this before with Luke Moore
and Stefan Moore, Vassell, Byfield to name a few 🤣

Vassell played for England and was a fine player.

Agreed. I loved Darius and hated when he went to those blue bastards up north.

A little bit more belief was need with Vassell, I thought. Him and Angel were a lovely partnership.
