16:30 hrs Sunday 2nd October, Elland Road.
1-3 FTF!
-
2-1 win for Villa. Watkins and a late McGinn winner having been booed all game for tackling Archie Gray in preseason.
-
Villa loss.
Unconvinced by manager and 4 points from last 6.
Kamara being out will leave a huge gap that won't be filled.
UTV and I hope I'm wrong!
-
2-1 to them with a VAR chaos themed winner by Bamford.
Gerrard binned and in comes Southgate to save the day.
That's the nightmare scenario.
In reality, we win 4-2 with Mings scoring and crowdsurfing amongst the Leeds barbarians
-
Think we'll get our away form off and running at last. It won't be pretty, and maybe a tense 1-0 again, but that will do and would probably take us into the top half.
-
I feel that we're entering a bit of a hinterland where, unless the results are catastrophic or unbelievably good, nothing much will sort of happen. The pressure if off the manager to some extent following the last two results and further relieved by the awful injuries. We'll modge through until the WC, picking up a win or two, a couple of draws but some rather predictable defeats.
1-1
-
Are Leeds any good? Can't keep up with them these days
-
Are Leeds any good? Can't keep up with them these days
P6 W2 D2 L2 beat Chelsea and Wolves at home, Drew with So'ton and Everton one home and one away, and lost to Brighton and Brentford away. So about as unpredictable as they come but seemingly good at home.
If they win they're 5 points ahead of us with a game in hand.
-
what's likely line up with the injuries then? I'm guessing something like
martinez
young konsa mings swede
mcginn luiz ramsey
buendia bailey
watkins
read somewhere that dendoncker was left out as he's not match fit so can't see him coming straight in.
-

Agreed, FTYF.
-
I've lost faith in Gerrard and now Kamara is injured feel we'll go backwards.
Predict 2-0 loss. Out fought and out thought.
As for the line up, no surprises:
Martinez
Young Konsa Mings Augustinsson
Mcginn Luiz Ramsey
Bailey Watkins Coutinho
-
1-1
-
Yep, with them winning at home, us losing away, having a nightmare with injuries and a rookie still in charge it's not likely to end well is it? 2-0 them i reckon. I won't pick a team as i've lost track of who's available and who's not.
-
It isn't going to be pretty. Gerrard will do everything to try to avoid a defeat - 3 matches unbeaten makes it harder to sack him. Unfortunately, while he is fighting for his job, I can't imagine any expansive attacking football.
I haven't seen Leeds play yet this season, most right-thinking folk try to limit that sort of thing to twice a year, but they're much higher in the league than I thought they would be. Regardless, they're one of those teams that we need to be taking 4+ points off a season if we're serious about getting into Europe.
A low-scoring draw - highlights package to last around 30 seconds. Gerrard to limp on for another week.
-
How long is Matty Cash out for?
-
Not convinced by this managers ability to get something out of this.
Expect to get over run in midfield, another loss and Gerrard to remain under pressure.
-
Play the way we did against an appalling Southampton side and it’ll be Leeds all the way.
-
Leeds got absoutely destroyed by Brentford last time out, and also lost to Brighton and drew with Everton, so let's not make them into something they're not.
-
Worth a sticky this one? :-)
-
Think we will continue our improved run of results and start to find better form.
Kamara is a big miss, but Dedonker will come in and we have Nakamba to cover so far more options than last season in that position.
Going for 0-2 to the Villa with goals from Coutinho and Bailey. Another clean sheet.
-
I’d take a repeat of the Southampton game here.
-
I’d take a repeat of the Southampton game here.
A repeat of last season's fixture would be even better.
-

I think it's more making Villa into something we are.
-
Real football is BACK 8)
I'm feeling optimistic about this one.
I think we can win.
FTF.

I love the pre-match anticipation; it counteracts the pre-match feeling of doom.

And the post match feeling of despair.
-
1-0 Villa win.
-
3-1 Leeds
-
Is there an option for us to win and Gerrard get fired ?
-
2-0 Leeds
-
Is there an option for us to win and Gerrard get fired ?
Does the physio have an attractive wife? That was good enough back in the day.
-
They haven’t beaten us at Elland Road since December 2016, when Bruce was in charge, 2-0. Nearly 6 years, 2 draws for in the championship and 2 wins for us premier league.
Law of averages says they probably win this and then its possibly win or bust for Gerard at Forest. Head says a miserable 2-0 to them, but i hardly ever really back against Villa so an optimistic 2-1 (Watkins, Bailey)
-
2-0.
-
Yorkshire Whites 1-1 West Midlands Village
-
Ugh, what awful names.
-
Agreed, his refusal to use an apostrophe is a disgrace.
-
York'shire Whites 1-1 We'st Midlands Village
-
Much better, thank's.
-
My plea'sure.
-
If Digne and Cash are out, I doubt that we will be be doing the attacking full back thing.
This could work in our favour, as Leeds are very strong on the counter. SG has learned that we can hold out against anyone if we dig in. Pack the midfield and attack on the break.
We've had some scintillating games against Leeds in the recent past, but I think this will be a war of attrition.

I agree, if we show the same discipline as in our last couple of performances we’ll get something from the game.

It's so good I got mine signed twice

Just wondering who's gonna get the most stick Mings or McGinn.

Just wondering who's gonna get the most stick Mings or McGinn.
Mings from their twats.
McGinn from our supporters.
-
It's so good I got mine signed twice
??
Quite how I managed to post that on this thread I do not know
-
Is this a "And it's LIVE!" Sky Super Sunday game?
-
Yep we've got the prime 4.30pm slot and the Manchester Derby has been relegated to the 2pm slot.

It’s well worth posting mate, cheers.
-
Is this a "And it's LIVE!" Sky Super Sunday game?
1-1 and the football watching public will reignite their hate campaign of us again
-
Let's hope our goal is massively controversial then
-
March is suspended and won't be in the dug-out for this.
-
we need to match their work rate then hopefully our extra attacking quality will be enough for us to win the game
but Gerrard will probably set us up to grind out a 1-1 draw
-
March is suspended and won't be in the dug-out for this.
What about October?
-
March is suspended and won't be in the dug-out for this.
Beware the ITKs of March!
-
Just bloody win Villa. I'm already getting stick from all the fair weather L**ds supporters up here!
-
No Digne, Cash or Kamara.
-
No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones
-
Martinez
Young. Konsa. Mings. Ludwig
McGinn Luiz. Ramsey
Coutinho
Watkins. Ings
Not the side I’d pick but the one I reckon Gerrard will go with.
-

FFS Autocorrect!
-
How long is Matty Cash out for?
Gerrard said he's done half a session this week but will join in with the squad early next week for full sessions.
-
Augustinsson? I must admit I'm not totally certain he'll pick him, maybe leave him on the bench 'just in case' as he shuffles Young to the left, Konsa at RB, Chambers into the middle, before bringing Heskey on with twenty minutes to go.
-
So I presume Freddie is still in the dog house?
I also hope he does play Young at left back with Konsa on the right with Chamber next to Mings and ask them to sit as full backs and not bomb forward too much. Let’s use Bailey and Ollie to stretch them with their pace and we need Coutinho and Ramsey to help push forward to add numbers in attack.
-
4 definite starters out is a pretty bad situation.
-
Why buy a back up left back if your not going to play him when your first choice is out, no brainer.
Martinez
Young
Konsa
Mings
Ludwig
Luiz
Ramsey
McGinn
Watkins
Coutinhio
Bailey
-
Digne to Cash with knee slide.

Great when it works, which is seldom.
-
No Digne, Cash or Kamara.
No money back, no guarantee.

Very good.

5 Bournemouth Lions on our way up today. Just leaving. Predictions with this Villa team are difficult. The injury to Kamarra is what most worries me and what Gerrard does to replace him. Hopefully he resists putting Dougie back there unless it's with Dendonkar. Hopefully the third kit curse will be broken. UTV

Let’s hope we don’t play like Wolves in it.
-
A lot depends on what Leeds team turns up, if it's the one that played against Brentford, then we've got few problems, if it's the one that played against Chelsea, then we've got plenty of problems.
-
I fear a shit result coming.

It's not that Leeds were especially good against Chelsea, it's more that Chelsea were absolutely woeful. One of the goals was the Chelsea keeper trying and failing to dummy the Leeds attacker and presenting him with a tap in.
-
I fear a shit result coming.
Me, too. Hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised.
Kicks off just after midnight here, and I have a 5000 word essay to write for work by tomorrow (3pm deadline). If I start watching the game, I'll get irritated and won't focus on writing. If I don't watch the game, I'll want to know what's happening and won't focus on writing.
What a dilemma!
-
I don't think it will be shit, it just won't be great and that pattern will persist at least until the WC which is why my enthusiasm is at it's lowest since Bruce was rolling up wi' sleeves.
-
I think there's a very high chance it will be shit and I'm going. I will probably perk up in the pub
-
I fear a shit result coming.
Midnight kick off here in Perth W Australia too.
Really fearing the worst.
Usually try to be positive.
Got to work in the morning so will get up early and watch as much as I can of the replay.

Yep, need a beer, that'll help.

I hate playing Leeds. I was born and grew up in Yorkshire as a Halifax Town supporter and hating the "gloryhunters" who jumped on the Leeds bandwagon. I hate playing them now because somehow without necessarily overly aggressive they appear to always bully us, or perhaps being more honest we just don't show up and appear to capitulate without a fight. I hope today isn't one of those days !

I hope that doesn't happen, but I don't think it's true. Over the last few years, neither team has dominated the other.
Also there couldn't be a much more even head-to-head in league games overall; won 30, drawn 30 and lost 30. In cups, we've won 10 drawn one and only lost twice.
-
3rd kit today. What's all that about?
-
Only way I can see us getting a point today is if we win the kick off, pass it back to Martinez and he lays on the ball for 90 minutes feigning injury.
-
3rd kit today. What's all that about?
No idea. I really don’t like the claret shorts with the home shirt we occasionally wear so it’s the lesser of 2 evils for me :)
-
So it's the appetiser at 2pm and the main course at 4.30pm
-
I have a bad feeling about this.
-
I have a bad feeling about this.
Don't be ridiculous. What can possibly go wrong?
-
I fear this game. We badly need to start part together coherent, attacking, performances.
-
Tayls, first thing that could go wrong is stepping out onto the pitch followed by our captain pulling a muscle tossing the coin. SG will say it’s only a slight pull on his finger but, after a few days, he confirms he will be out for the rest of the season if not longer.
-

We're contractually obliged to wear the 3rd kit at least once a season, I imagine, so today is one of the game's chosen.
-
Maybe it's the fact we've had some decent results there lately (and that has to come to an end), like a few others seemingly, I fear the worst this afternoon.
-
We played some superb stuff at VP and was cruising until defensive brain farts through a 2 goal lead away.
We played them off the park at thier place and deserved to win 3-0.
We have players missing but they have no James or Raphina
Get into them and fuck them off
UTV
-
I've got a good feeling about this today, not quite sure why. Us to win comfortably with Mings to weigh in with a goal to a annoy the locals.

Castore have just released a 4th kit for "Rangers" this season so be grateful it's only 3.

Four shirts, £105 each. "We Are The People".
