Being played 30th November at Cardiff, 7 pm kick off.
Don't think Villa tickets on sale yet but Cardiff ones are: https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/peters-memorial-match-sale-now
Thought this may be of interest to some wanting to pay tribute to PW. Will bump thread nearer time, hopefully Villa ticket details get announced comfortably in advance.
-
A great gesture by both clubs. Poor Whitts, such a shock that he went so soon.
-
I hope it sells out. RIP Peter.
-
Great gesture by both clubs, and only down the road for me . Be a useful run out for all of our non World Cup stars for match fitness too, so should see a decent level of team selected
-
The kick-off time for Peter Whittingham's memorial match has been brought forward 30 mins to 7pm on Weds 30th November.
Still 262 seats available in our allocation for anyone interested.
-
Hopefully we get a bigger allocation and the OS mentions it as not sure how many people know about this. Sure we could easily take a couple of thousand.
-
Ticketing details here. (https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/november/08/Peter-Whittingham-Memorial-Match-ticket-details/)

think you've been allocated 781 tickets pretty sure you could sell more if given more tickets

Bump.
-
Predict the starting XI and subs. No prizes. I'm broke.
-
Aston Villa's fixture with Cardiff City on Wednesday will be halted on seven minutes, for those in attendance to pay their respects to Peter Whittingham.
-
Leandro Bacuna and Peter Enckleman are the only former players that immediately jump out as "could play a half in each colours".
Maybe Philogene-Bidace could have a go.
-

SECOND HALF

A game of two halves?

Of course, forget the obvious one.

Good shout. I was about to suggest Neil Taylor but he was at Swansea.
-
Convinced my missus that a couple of nights in Cardiff would be a lovely getaway and slyly booked a pair of tickets. Really looking forward to it as a chap who can't get an away ticket for love nor money.
Hopeful to see the majority of our non-World Cup squad over the course of the evening and pay tribute to Whitts.

Or Bednarek or Dendoncker. What the fuck is he playing at?
-
Do I get to be the first to say where the fuck is Sanson?
-
No Martinez or Cash? FFS, Emery out!
Maybe Football Insider is right for once and there really is a rift between Emi and the manager. :(
-
A nice mix of established players and “I need a look at him “
-
What seniors are missing apart from the World Cup lot and the lesser-spotted Sanson?

McGinn, Olsen, Augustinsson, the even lesser-spotted Guilbert.
-
Come on you Villa infants!

Losing one-nil. Bring back Gerrard.
-
1-0 Cardiff.

It was 2-0 but now 2-1, Jacob Ramsey with our goal.
-

Is he playing for Villa or Cardiff?
-
Ha! Bugger.
-
3-1 now. Get a grip Unai.
-
3-1. Messi still yet to score for either side, useless twat.
-
Come on Villa .. I hate it when we lose whatever the game
-
Emi Martinez could pop over for a stint between the sticks, given he has fuck all to do in Qatar at the moment.
-
I went to Cardiff last night. Just over 10k there so a decent turn out and it made you realised how loved Whitts was at Cardiff. The teams came out to an acosutic version of his fans song and it just seem to floor everybody with how sombre it felt.
On the pitch, we must have had about 75% possession without having many shots. It was a proper work out though to blow a few cobwebs off. Hard to see what Emery would have learnt. Their 2nd and 3rd goals seem to come about due to very poor marking, but the result and performance was very secondary. I ticked a new ground off so that was good.
-
Probably one of the strangest experiences I've had at a football match, as above, the cover of "here's to you Peter Whittingham" was beautiful but very sombre. No chanting with the exception of a brief "allez allez allez" in the second half and cries of "shoooot" when Dougie came over to take a corner.
Cardiff crowd was very youngster heavy, a big shout out to the handful of very young kids who spent the evening goading the away end, that was a good laugh.
On the pitch, very much a training exercise. Not many of the youngsters impressed, each of the Cardiff goals seemed to stem from a mistake or miscommunication from the academy players. Ashley Young - absolutely class, a couple of absolutely beautiful passes that weren't given the finish they deserved. As has been mentioned, we dominated possession but can't think of many chances we created. Not really sure what we learned from the outing but in Emery we trust.
At the end of the game Cardiff were presented with the first "Peter Whittingham trophy" which gives the impression that this will be a yearly event.
-
How was Archer?
-
I would have liked a great performance and win, but this was Cardiff and Peter's day and I'm pleased for them and his family. I'm sure Emery will have learned loads and the players have had a run out.
No harm done.
-
If there is a trophy, I hope it's a bit less one-sided and instantly forgotten than the Sir Graham one Watford said they'd always keep regardless and never mentioned again.
-
How was the goalkeeper?
Are we still screwed if Emi is out for any period?
-
Only saw the goals but he looked dodgy on the first two.
-

Yes.
-

OK. Very raw. Not ready for the premier league yet i'd say.
I was very impressed with Raikhy when he came on. The Punjab Pirlo.
-
Thanks chaps..........and bugger
-
Also, just to confirm, it wasn't Olsen in goal. It was Filip Marschall.

Thanks - knew it was someone else, but was too lazy to check who.......do we have any spare keepers that can stand in for Emi without causing major palpitations?
-
We have Olsen, Sinisalo and Marschall. None of them fill me with any confidence. Steer is on loan at Luton Town.
-
I thought Sinisalo was meant to be "sick"?
-
Sinisalo is at Burton on loan

I have no idea why it couldn’t have been on a weekend given that there’s no other games and we had no others planned at the time. Loads of us would have made the trip on a weekend.

That’s not too bad, but, as others have said, it could easily have been a weekend fixture which could have put another 5k on
-
That's one of the best tributes ever, IMO.
-
That is brilliant, a really good tribute. Well done Cardiff
