Not Small Heath ha ha.
West Brom away.....
-
Norwich at home would be nice.
-
The lowest placed team at home, please. Draw is tomorrow after Wednesday vs Sunderland.
-
Fleetwood Town at home.

An easy game like Bournemouth away please.

-
I think Villa usually in the northern section
-
I'm assuming we are in the North seeing as we played Barrow last season. Can't remember us ever playing Morecambe, Hartlepool or Rochdale so them at home would be good.
-
Yeah Barrow and Crewe last two seasons.
And I was educated about Barrow by good folk on here as never heard of the place or what it was/where it was and is.
Barrows Furness.
-
Yeah Barrow and Crewe last two seasons.
Correct.
-
Yeah Barrow and Crewe last two seasons.
Crewe was 2019/20 on our way to the final. Stoke at home 2020/21, bit of a debacle. But the next league game wasn't bad.
Edit: just checked and Stoke was in the Fourth Round, we had already knocked out Burton and Bristol City away.
-
2nd round w/c 22nd August
3rd round w/c 7th November
Yikes

2nd Round
Crewe 1-6 Villa 2019
Burton 1-3 Villa 2020
Barrow 0-6 Villa 2021
Seem to always be drawn away. Is that a rule?
-
The English players should be well rested then.
-

So we'll let Emi Martinez.carry on his celebrations with Argentina! Can sit that one out.
Olsen can keep goal as Sweden didn't even make world cup finals.

No, just luck of the draw I think.
-
Norwich at home please. Mainly because it will get that lot from the Two Stands Stadium worked up about missing a tie against us. Even if numbers are done alphabetically they are too dim to work that out so will still get worked up.
-
If we are in the North again we can't draw Norwich.
-
Barrow was the best away of the season. Somebody random like that again.
-
2nd round w/c 22nd August
3rd round w/c 7th November
Yikes

Villa Kids versus Liverpool Kids, third part of the lopsided Cup trilogy.
-
If we are in the North again we can't draw Norwich.
Which is weird as Norwich is North of Birmingham.
-

Which is weird as Norwich is North of Birmingham.
But it's easier to get to from the South. So it makes sense.
-
Walsall is also North of us but they are in the South section according to that one post. So who knows how they work out.
-
Maybe they want an even North-South split of both qualifiers and Premier League teams. Would rather they just got rid of all the regionalisation and left it completely open.
-
I'm assuming we are in the North seeing as we played Barrow last season. Can't remember us ever playing Morecambe, Hartlepool or Rochdale so them at home would be good.
I'd prefer Rochdale away, seeing as Spotland is 2 miles down the road from my house and we've not played them in the 40 years I've lived here !
-
Seem to always be drawn away. Is that a rule?
Yes. It’s called the Millichip Rule.
-
more likely to be in the Southern Section given the number of teams in Europe etc. I hope not but its looking that way
-
Somewhere we have a massive away end so I could actually go to an away game again.
-
Good news for me living in the North West - in the Northern Section (we are ball numero 1)
-
Ball numbers
NORTH
1 Aston Villa
2 Barrow
3 Bolton Wanderers
4 Bradford City
5 Burnley
6 Derby County
7 Everton
8 Fleetwood Town
9 Grimsby Town
10 Leeds United
11 Leicester City
12 Lincoln City
13 Morecambe
14 Newcastle United
15 Nottingham Forest
16 Preston North End
17 Rochdale
18 Shrewsbury Town
19 Stockport County
20 Tranmere Rovers
21 Wolverhampton Wanderers
22 Blackburn Rovers or Hartlepool United
23 Middlesbrough or Barnsley
24 Port Vale or Rotherham United
25 Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland AFC
26 West Bromwich Albion or Sheffield United
-
For convenience and grounds that I've never see Villa play at, Rochdale or Stockport would be ideal.
-
The good news is we can't be drawn against Man United!
-
Sheffield or Rotherham please. Then the other in the following round.
-
Either Sheffield Club would be good as both give decent allocations along with Preston, Blackburn and Barnsley.
-
I'm assuming we are in the North seeing as we played Barrow last season. Can't remember us ever playing Morecambe, Hartlepool or Rochdale so them at home would be good.
We played Hartlepool in the League Cup in the seventies, we beat them 6-1 at home after drawing away, can't remember the score. You young 'uns.
-

25th November 1974. Brian Little's 21st. He scored a hat-trick and their supporters held a collection for the pub bomb victims.
-
We haven't played Lincoln since 1960. We've also never beaten them.
-
I remember playing Lincoln in a friendly about 2008 and they beat us 3-1
-
The good news is we can't be drawn against Man United!
Until the 3rd Round....

Wow. Interesting fact and great recall.

I remember that, I had forgotten

Whoever it will give us the biggest away Allocation gets my vote
So I assume Bolton or Preston

We played 4 league games with Rochdale in the 3rd division. We lost the last one up there 1-0.
Anyway, we love the League Cup for a number of reasons, Here's one.....

Will we ever get a home draw again!!
-
Is the draw on tv?
-
Yes, Sky.
-
Is the draw on tv?
Looks likes it's on Sky if you subscribe.
-
What time, saw half 10 mentioned but all matches finished now.
-
All games finished. Due to start at 10pm. Bet they do the southern section first.
-
Southern bias! Maybe it's something useful that Flin5tone can rail against.
-
It's a disgrace!
-
Can we get Walsall or have they been somehow dumped in the Southern section.
-
Southern bias! Maybe it's something useful that Flin5tone can rail against.
I'd say so, he's so anti-Southern he won't even use an 'S' in his name.
-
Maybe able to follow here if you don't pay for Sky.

Villa drawn away to Bolton.
-
Yes! Localish.
-
And the answer is no, we won’t ever get a home draw again.
-
Is Bolton doable on the train midweek? Guessing no.
-
And the answer is no, we won’t ever get a home draw again.
We will. For the 3rd Round when we lose to Manchester United.
-
Ha, my girlfriend's team. Didn't want to jinx-it by predicting it beforehand. Her parents are season ticket holders. A romantic midweek trip to Horwich, I don't think.
-
A bit further away than Rochdale, but happy enough with that.
-
Villa drawn away to Bolton.
That’s pretty good. Quite a large ground for that level, so decent allocation. Not too far from Brum.
Also, being as it’s away, I don’t have to go
-
Is Bolton doable on the train midweek? Guessing no.
I don’t believe so.
-
Suspect this will be popular given 2nd round stubs counted for Bournemouth.
-
Announce large allocation
-
Announce large allocation
They usually give around 3k.
-
Good chance on being on the box.
-

Is that how much that end stand holds? I think they will give us all of it.
-
Is Jay Jay Ococha and Djorkaeff still playing for them?
-
Good chance on being on the box.
Not sure, there are quite a few decent looking ones. Fleetwood v Everton, Stockport v Leicester, Tranmere v Newcastle, Crawley v Fulham.
-
Standard allocation is 3,000 but can be up to 5,000 so hope Villa ask for that.
-
My favourite away game when I lived in Horwich. Few pints in the pub next to Blackrod station, then a 2 minute train to the Reebok in time for kick off.
-
Standard allocation is 3,000 but can be up to 5,000 so hope Villa ask for that.
We had the 5k for the semi in 2004. There was only 16k at the game, the other 3 sides of the ground half empty.
-
I also think we’ll be on tv because who better for a shock result than the Villa?
-
In recent years, Newcastle, I think.
-
Good draw for us.
-
I also think we’ll be on tv because who better for a shock result than the Villa?
might well be the Thursday night tie as we then don't play until the following Sunday
-
Yes but Bolton play on the Saturday. Plymouth away, too. Would be pretty harsh on away fans to move that at a fortnight's notice.

It's only live ONCE!

Their capacity is 28,723.
Average attendance last season 16,104.
They could easily give us 8,000 if we reckon we could sell them.
I've checked the EFL Carabao Cup rules
We have a right to 10% as a minimum - more by mutual agreement.
Ticket requests to be made within 3cdays of the draw.
Ticket prices to be agreed between clubs.
Away tickets cannot be sold for more than equivalent home tickets.
-
Interesting what sort of approach regards starting eleven will be taken. We have Palace few days before but don't play in the league till the Sunday 28th away to West Ham.
Gerrard didn't manage to win a domestic cup in Scotland. One final in 6 attempts. I think he's highlighted the cups as something to target, so I have to be looking to go deep or really win one. Certainly a capable squad for the task. And SG has the right attitude and mentality to be a manager who wins a cup.
I think Olson will play in goal and Young as captain. Other than that, I am not sure for now as it depends on player performances on Saturday and Palace and who has played
-
I think Cam will start.
-
I think Cam will start.
Of course! Unless he given night off after a hat trick at Palace!
-
I'm disappointed this is on the Tuesday. If it had been the Wednesday I might have tried to get a ticket. Haven't been to Bolton since Stan Collymore decided to thump Andy Todd in the last minute.
-
I was got all excited about an away trip we can go on
Didn’t realise It will be played so early and I’m on holiday
☹️
-
I think Cam will start.
Wish this was in the Villa v Everton thread.
-
Sky hoping for an upset then?
-
5k tickets
-
5k tickets
And I have heard £10 each.
-
I'm looking forward to it and it's great we are getting 5k and only £10 for the working man to find too!
I don't mind Bolton, just would have been nice to go somewhere new.
-
The last time I was at Bolton - 17 March 2018 - was the coldest I have been in over 65 years of following the Villa, colder than Moscow in February. The snow was blowing horizontally across the top of the stands. I think it may be somewhat different on the 23rd!

Weird old day for the weather. Sun shining in Manchester city centre in the afternoon then absolutely Baltic by the time the match finished. And we lost.
-
That match really was bastard cold. I remember my friend saying "at least it's warmed up a bit in the second half", before I pointed out that was because he was holding two Bovrils.
The game should never have gone ahead.
-
Bournemouth Lions took a mini bus. Snow was so bad I'm amazed we made it home. Coldest I've ever been at a game.
-
Is Jay Jay Ococha and Djorkaeff still playing for them?
Yes and BFS will make it difficult for for us.
-
Anyone know when tickets go on sale for this?
