Title: Our young lions
Post by: Smirker on June 14, 2022, 07:02:34 PM
Archer tearing it up for the England u21s and surely a part of the squad for next season. Ramsey a key player now. Barry doing very well on loan at Swindon. Tim making his debut last season and Carney looking likely to stay?

Any others I've missed?

I feel like the club is on the verge of a special core of local players coming through and exploding.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden. The supporters of both clubs he played at last season, Swindon and MK, seemed to have rated him highly. Perhaps he's why we never seem to be in for any right backs.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden. He did well at Swindon, where he won their young pjayer of the year wayward despite being recalled in January, and MK Dons.

I always rated Mungo Bridge when I used to watch Cam at BMH but he has been released from his contract after an unsuccessful loan spell at Annecy where he spent most of his time there injured.

Aaron Ramsey needs to be included here as well, he looks a fantastic prospect.

I really like the look of Bogarde as well but he seems to have disappeared, Josh Feeney and Kerr Smith both look excellent as well.

My mate who I get tips about youth players from sometimes (he's part of the community coaching team) says there's a lot of talk about Tommi O'Reilly as well, the only worry is that he's a bit on the small side.

He's one of the ones I'm most excited about.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace had a lot of good moments at Stoke until his injury. He's definitely got potential.

Ben Chrisene might get a loan this year as he is highly rated, so will be interesting to see how he does.

Haven't seen much of Aaron Ramsey but I heard he is meant to be more highly rated than Jacob. If that is true then we are going to be very lucky and he must be an incredible player.

Finn Azaz won League Two player of the year too, but he's already 22 so not sure what the plan is for him. Be good to see if he can move up a level next season.

Cam
Carney
K K-H
Little Tim
Aaron Ramsey
Tommi O
Ben Chrisene
"Humphrey"Bogarde
Ben Chrisene

The conveyor of talent looks well stocked.

If 3 join JJ it in the first team in the next 3 years then that can be counted as success.

And I forgot Loiue Barry, Finn Azaz as well as the young Scottish kids who we've poached recently.

I am assuming he will as Gerrard included him in the starting line up. Can't imagine he would if he was gonna be off.

I would add Josh Feeney as welll. Not long turned 17, but a regular for our U23s at CB (one of the more difficult positions to play when you're much younger than the opposition). Him, Bogarde and, to a lesser extent, Swinkles (who also plays left back) all look like great centre backs that are comfortable on the ball. I would expect Bogarde to be in and around the frst team in pre-season and then go out on loan to get some experience. I think he could be a wonderful player.

I agree about Feeney and Bogarde. Both have trained with the first team and Feeney has been on the bench a couple of times. Think he's captained England at youth level too.

Swinkels I've not been very impressed with.

Interesting who we loan out for next season.

I'd really be looking to keep Archer around. An early goal in prem and he could really go on a run I think if then given starts given how well he's done scoring in three different competitions this season.

If we can't secure Kesler a championship loan then I'd keep him around first team squad aswell.

Imagine Tim will go out on loan and we'll try Louie Barry in league 1 again plus a couple of the defenders like Ben Chishene.

There Caleb Chukwumeka as well but I don’t think his loan at Livingston went particularly well.

I think there were issues there with the manager. Some of the things he did and said make me think he’s a bit of a prat and not what a young loanee needs.

He brought him on as a sub to see out a win, then took him off minutes later. At best that’s a huge mistake in terms of judging what the lad is ready for and at worst it’s stupid mind games.

From what he’s said, he wanted an out and out striker but Caleb likes playing wider. Instead of developing him and working on it, he froze him out the squad.

Not saying Caleb is blameless, he may well react negatively if he’s been treated poorly, but you do need a manager willing to help and develop you and that’s not what he had.

watched that game, the manager brought him on for the purpose of causing the opposition a few problems, but even I could see he wasn't interested and was subbed, watched him in a few games and didn't look interested, surprised there loaned him out so far away truthfully

It will be interesting what happens next then. They’re sure to be looking to loan him out again next season so we will see if it’s something with him or not.

“Vassilev’s part of a deep winger corps at Inter Miami, a position that reflects their new-look roster. He replaced Costa Rican international Ariel Lassiter, while Finnish international Robert Taylor, U22 Initiative dynamo Emerson Rodriguez and former SuperDraft No. 1 pick Robbie Robinson (injured long-term) help fill out the depth chart.”

Young Americans! Don't you love their ways...anyway, Indi has been loaned-out more often than a hair-straightener in a hair-metal combo's dressing room - are we going to sell the lad or do we still see a window for him here?

4th loan and 3rd club, that's not all that bad, and he's still only 21. I don't know if he's good enough to be a premier league player right now but I do think he has a good attitude and desire so he'll probably have a decent career at some level, possibly permanently back in MLS.

Great news, I reckon he could become a really classy centre half and, as jwarry says, also be a good cover option at DM. I hope we get him out of loan this summer because he really needs senior football now to kick on.

Our three lions did us proud tonight.

As I said on the other games thread, Ramsey and Iroegbunam turned the game for England, Ramsey by giving us some extra threat going forward that had been missing and Tim by adding a calming presence in midfield and forcing them to go wide to get any joy.

Aside from our 3 Quansah looks a great prospect and Edwards, whilst not as easy on the eye, is a very solid defender who does the basics really well, you can tell he's had most of a season playing senior football.
