Title: Villa Park
Post by: Singapore Villa on June 05, 2022, 08:47:39 PM
Hello All,

Apologies for the random post - mods please feel free to move if better elsewhere..

Taking my kids to Villa Park tomorrow as back in UK on family trip and want to visit the club shop.

Will any of the facilities in the stadium (or surrounds) be open on a Monday for us to eat lunch?

Thanks and UTV

Wouldn’t have thought so and the nearby pubs are big avoids. Bartons might be open though, does Thai food. You’re probably just better off heading to the city centre though.

A bold thread title indeed. It's the one thing that keeps us rooted to the Villa.

Could you have looked at a stadium tour?

The club shop should be open but not much else. As a local resident I can tell you now don't attempt to find decent food anywhere near the ground. As others have said your best off heading to the city centre, plenty of nice eateries around Colmore/Bennetts Hill. (Old Town if you like) At least there will be plenty of photo ops outside the stadium.

Yep.  Unfortunately none in June.

Could also slot in a short tour around Aston Hall.

My wife went to the club shop a couple of weeks ago to get shirts for my sons
no stock of shirts, guess waiting for new kit
very disappointed with the general range of goods

Depending on what food you’re after.
There is a small take away on Trinity Rd, about 100m from the ground.
Used it a couple of times instead of the street food stalls.

He mentioned the family eating lunch so he's looking a little bit upmarket I reckon. I know that sandwich shop you mentioned on Trinity Rd the food is decent

Just to repeat, there won't be anything at the ground, and there's nothing in the immediate vicinity. Star City just off the motorway has the usual chain places like Pizza Hut and Nando's, or as other have said just head into Brum.

No idea why anyone would choose to poke around Aston looking for somewhere to get something to eat on a weekday when there are - literally - hundreds of places to choose from in the city centre.

TBH I also imagine the shop will be largely empty this time of year, too. Few photos, ten mins in the shop, in and out in 30 minutes tops.

The Holte Pub is open until 6pm according to Google. I assume they do food. You could sit outside and eat and drink while looking at the Holte End. Maybe best to phone them to check, first.

At the last few games were selling stuff off at heavy discounts, so not surprising that the stocks are low

The best food near VP is a meal deal from Tesco, which just about sums things up.

Is the Aston Tavern, underneath the expressway, still open?

Open until 6pm.
Last review was three months ago. Surely those hours are wrong?

Theres not a chance the Holte will be open outside of a match day, unless for some sort of corporate event. It wouldn’t be the staffing and catering costs?

I thought the corner flag restaurant was open most days. Very nice in there and the food is great although it has been a number of years since I was last wined and dined.

The Holte Pub barely looks open on a match day and is starting to look rundown and poorly maintained. Hopefully the Paint Brushes will be out over the summer as it's really starting to annoy me when walking past.

Would be nice to have such a beautiful building looked after and a nice environment to take in with the sound of Bagpipes as you walk up to the stadium.

Rather than the tacky banners pinned to the back of the North Stand and the cheap looking flags sort the blooming Pub out

It's not a restaurant anymore, it's where the players meet before games now.
