This is how i see it.
I thought Beundia played well last week, but horses for courses and we need to try and be solid and protect the back four as much as possible.
The bench is strong for us.

For all Buendia's faults he can win the ball back quite well out of possession. Or at least he did well in that category at Norwich.
Hopefully Ollie isn't too isolated upfront today which can be issue when packing a team with midfielders.
Plan obviously to keep it tight up to hour mark then we do have some options on the bench. Worked a treat at Old Trafford.

Buendia to the bench is a big call - however - it looks like the main aim is to try and stifle Liverpool a little bit. Then in the 2nd half, with that bench, bring on the creativity.
Should be a good game. I’ve not got high hopes for us, but we gave Man City a game and we’re more than capable of doing it.

Yes, Bundea is a luxury in this game. There’s a defensive feel about our line up and there will need to be as any fancy stuff that doesn’t come off will put Liverpool on the front foot again. Bundea’s sloppiness against these would have been a concern.

May be wrong, but I suspect Gerrard has it mind for Buendia to start v Norwich and v Burnley, but doesn't have confidence in him for this sort of game.

He'll be central with instruction to shift wide when we haven't got the ball. He did fantastic job of that at Palace two weeks back although Liverpool is different beast.

Don't it's that at all, just a case of horses for courses. It is refreshing to have a manager that doesn't just pick the same players regardless of how the opposition is set up.
Not sure about that front three, but it is more robust than other options and we have a great bench for once so can see him bringing Emi and Ings on second half.

Is it? It's a bit adoring and fawning, but in fairness they are really good, and I don't think the commentary has particularly banged their drum when it comes to contentious decisions.

Watching it with foreign commentary, but I can’t agree with some of the other comments. Liverpool are good, but their performance isn’t at the level that Man City were against us in the first half of that game. If we turn up in the second half the way we have in the rest of Gerrard’s games thus far then there is at least a point for us here.

Really worried that if Liverpool struggle again in the second half to score that they will be gifted a soft-pen for all the moaning they've done for not getting any in the first half. A bit like Citeh-Wolves earlier.

With his yellow I think it would be a good chance to get Nakamba off at half time as he looks a nailed on red card. Get Sanson on and try play through midfield a bit more. Nakamba is so limited with the ball it's really hurting us to play through midfield. On the few occasions we have attacked, their keeper looks a bit iffy.
Cash is getting mauled at times down our right but a lot of time it's due to his poor positioning and horrible habit of going to ground. Great save by Emi before half time.

I don’t think it’s embarrassing. It’s just a fact that they have better players, have spent a lot of money much of it very well and have a tremendous coach. And it’s years in the making. He didn’t have success overnight. Whereas we have spent the better part of a decade scraping the bottom of the barrel. But we have to build over time and invest well and create the right culture. And we have someone who understands success from his playing days now as manager. It’s whether or not he transfer that into this part of his career and to the players. It’s a massive task to bridge the gap.
