You could walk to Duddeston Station, about half an hour, then one stop to Aston.

I'd walk into town, then you have the choice of train/buzz to VP.

There’s a train from Bordesley at 13.56 that gets in to Moor St for 2pm. That leaves you plenty of time to walk across to New St and get to VP.

I was always under the impression that trains only ever stopped at Bordesley when Blues were at home, but I caught that same train in to town last Saturday and it stopped at Bordesley then.

Would probably mean having to leave a few minutes early though.

That's the one train a week that has to stop there by law.

You can leg it in an hour according to that. Relive the 2002 Battle of Rocky Lane.

Walk along the canal towpath.
The Grand Union is just the other side of the ring road. Short way up you go along the Digbeth branch until you get to the Fazeley canal, walk up there and come off at the Rocky Lane bridge. 45 minutes tops.

Anything's the future after you visit St Andrews - it really is a hovel and not saying that with any bias
