COVID McGinn?
-
Good luck to Chuckie and great to see Ollie back albeit on the bench.
-
Mings and McGinn out, Watkins on the bench
-
Young in midfield again? Madness.
-
great to see Watkins back - and excited to see what Chuckie can do in midfield - a great chance for him.
-

-
Ramsey isolating too
-
Tyrones ribs were strapped up against Newcastle so maybe that.
-
Oh FFS, Young out wide again? Bizarre decision, he was shite last time.
-
Young in midfield?
-
Young in midfield again? Madness.
Agreed.
-
Jesus. And is that Carney in a deep two? I seriously hope Buendia is going to be closer to the midfield than against Watford because I do not fancy that in a midfield battle against a three.
-
Yikes.. hopefully we can get something out of this today.
-
Well, injuries and illness can't be helped. Good luck all.
-
Time to lump on Brentford I reckon.
-
Well, injuries and illness can't be helped. Good luck all.
The system can, though. I hope we've chosen the right one.
-
Time to lump on Brentford I reckon.
I did have a free £25 bet on UNIBET but put it on a Man City and West Ham double
-
Jesus fcukin Christ. The squad doesn’t look quite as strong as we thought it would be when it’s depleted with injuries/Covid. Our first XI and bench is strong when all fit…let’s just hope we they all step up.
-
If I was a betting man, and I am, I would back Brentford, and I have.
WTF are we doing playing Young in midfield!? Bananas.
-
Sheesh that’s a horrible looking starting 11, can’t be helped I suppose, just hope we play a system that works I guess.
-
Young in midfield again? Madness.
Agreed.
Thirded! JPB would have been my choice
-
So the twitter rumours were pretty much correct again.
That midfield looks very worrying. Where is Young playing? Buendia in the middle isn't his strength at all. Amazed Nakamba is not in there with Chuck and Doug.
-
Why hasn't Hause replaced Mings? A natural left sided central defender ignored for right sided Axel? Maybe Hause wants out and who could blame him. Madness.
-
Young in midfield. We’re in a spot of bother.
-
Not sure why Hourihane is not in the starting line-up given the need for experience and cover. Massive boost for Brentford with Mings and McGinn both out. Must be honest, will be happy with a draw today.
-
Not a bad lineup I’m thinking given injuries/illness. Good luck to the lads
-
It looks like Dean thinks they'll come for a point. I guess he'd know, but I'm not so sure.
-
Presume young out wide and Buendia 10.
-
Presume young out wide and Buendia 10.
I have a weird feeling that Young will play close to Luiz, with Chuk as a 10.
-

+1
-
Well do well to get a point I think...too many experienced players missing and brentford can trouble us in ways newcastle couldn't. Still just walking up now and for once nice to breath the aston air!
-
The more worrying thing for me is these rumours keep leaking out. As for the team, horses for courses. Dean has young in their for his experience and leadership, with what is essentially a team with young players or inexperienced at this level. He could of Hourihane in or nakamba or philogene bidace and some wouldn’t be happy.
Going to be really tough, if we get a result it will be a great achievement given 6 potential starters not in the team
-
I’ll do everyone a favour and go and watch my non-league locals rather than find a stream. We tend to win when I’m not able to watch.
-
Hourihane surely leaving next week so that's why he isn't starting. Brentford will try to play through us rather than launching long balls so can understand axel instead of hause.
-
Last time I have Villa as part of my accumulater. Will bet on the walking dead next time!
-
I don't understand why Hause isn't coming in, he was excellent last season when called upon.
-
Young in midfield again? gonna lose this. Well we won't win.
-
Hourihane surely leaving next week so that's why he isn't starting. Brentford will try to play through us rather than launching long balls so can understand axel instead of hause.
They hit a fair amount to Toney against Arsenal and it worked.
-
Axel is a better footballer and more mobile than Hause, and I can see Axel being a decent CB partnership with Konsa.
-
Surprised not to see Hourihane start.

That's a great point about the leaks.
-
I think Toney Ings and Buendia will score and Watkins will come off the bench to add to that so 3-1 Villa
I very interested to see how we initially line up
I like the players that we have and hope it works out
Go on Deano!
Up the Villa
-
Is it just Villa who are blighted by injuries and Covid? FFS!
-
I’m fully supportive of this line up, from those players that are available. Hourihane in the starting 11 would be a last resort for me.
-
Good news Ollie is back, but Mings, SJM and Ramsey all not available, when will our bad luck end. Good luck Chuck
-
Great chance for Chukwuemeka is this. Go on son!
-
Jeez, we’re not getting much of a break on the injury front are we
-
Someone stick up that line-up from 5 years ago again. I need reminding that it's not that bad.
-
Mings isn’t covid related as he’s stood talking to Ian Taylor in hospitality.
-
Is there something about how we train as we get a duck ton of injuries. It what it is but there seems something off at the club at the moment and can’t put finger on it
-
Just watching a bit of RMC Sport and the annoying studio panel are having a furious wankathon over Ladyboy going back to Newton Heath. They are doing a quiz on him. Question 1. Against which Premier League team has he scored the most goals?
-
Well, injuries and illness can't be helped. Good luck all.
Yes, but we're at the sharp end of a new season. Not halfway through the winter slog. Nobody else seems to be getting the same bad luck as us.
-
Glad to see Chuk getting a chance, feel really sorry for Ramsey as he was looking like nailing down a place
-
Why hasn't Hause replaced Mings? A natural left sided central defender ignored for right sided Axel? Maybe Hause wants out and who could blame him. Madness.
Yeah, seems really harsh on Hause.
-

Probably more that it seems like it as we don't follow other team's injury lists as closely. According to this, plenty teams have 5, 6 or 7 players out at the moment with minor injuries.

-
People who follow the youth team closer than me - has Carney ever played in deep midfield before?
-
Young playing left centre mid so far.
-
People who follow the youth team closer than me - has Carney ever played in deep midfield before?
He doesn't look like he is today.
-
People who follow the youth team closer than me - has Carney ever played in deep midfield before?
At the moment he's not sitting too deep.
-
People who follow the youth team closer than me - has Carney ever played in deep midfield before?
He doesn't look like he is today.
No indeed, no- 10! Young appears to be in central midfield.
-
Shit

No indeed, no- 10! Young appears to be in central midfield.
As predicted by a wise sage a few pages back!
-
FFS
-
Bollocks
-
Seconded
-
So poor.
-
We can't play out from the back fucking ever. I appreciate the enormous challenges today, but there's no system to help.
-
Absolutely piss poor.
-
Nobody on him. All the time in the world.
-
Konsa and Axel just floating around at the near post, cmon guys.. wtf.
-
Why wasn’t he marked?
-
Young in midfield already feels like criminal neglect.
-
As usual, we can't string three passes together and end up massively under pressure.
Why the fuck don't our midfielders give the defence an option when they get the ball?
-
Being ripped one in the centre of the park again.
-
Amazing we can’t keep hold of the ball for more than a couple of passes.
We also don’t seem to understand the concept of having some form of gameplan.
-
GOAAAALLLL
-
All Brentford says Merse
-
Even with those out, this is a complete fuckup from Smith
Nakamba should be in with Luiz
Hause for his height and strength against Toney, it worked last season.
Shit show, and at Smiths door
-
Yes! Buendia!
-
EMI…..
-
I like Young but if he's more than a bit-part player this season, Smith will lose his job.
-
LETS GOOOOO
-
Footy-Villa is a fucking prophet!!!
-
Very open game...going to be plenty more goals. We don't half miss mings on corners. Was just about to slag off buendia again and he pops it top corner...
-
Get in
-
Goooooooooooooooool!
-
Get in! That'll do Emi lad!!!
-
Great stuff Emi
-
I like Young but if he's more than a bit-part player this season, Smith will lose his job.
He is supposed to be full back cover not midfielder starter
-
Emi get in. Now bloody win.
-
Great finish, excellent run from Ings to create the opportunity too. Good time to reset now and get to grips with the game.
-
First repayment on his fee. Keep it up
-
Great finish, excellent run from Ings to create the opportunity too. Good time to reset now and get to grips with the game.
Yeah, really good work by Ings.
-
I like Young but if he's more than a bit-part player this season, Smith will lose his job.
He is supposed to be full back cover not midfielder starter
I don't get it with him playing in there. Nakamba with Luiz more free is much more sensible
-

I’d like to think Young is a responsible, role player no matter what he’s tasked with. The same can’t be said for Nakamba.. limited and inconsistent.
-
What a lovely turn under pressure from Chucky.
-
According to an ad on Hesgoal, there are sexy women looking for men over 35 in Dudley if anyone's interested. I'm in Bridgnorth so it's fuck all use to me.
-

Might be an upgrade lol
-
Quite simply, if we're playing Ashley Young in central midfield, then we must not have enough quality central midfielders and need to sign another one.
-
Good response from us n
-
Great save that
-

Absolutely.
-
I'm looking forward to some silky set-pieces by the way.
-
This is much better after a shit start.
-
This is much better after a shit start.
Still looks like there are huge holes when we have not got the ball
-
This does illustrate why we need more depth in centre-mid.
-
Sort it out Dean!
-
El Ghazi is a willing lad, it’s just that he’s a bit rubbish.
-
Never quite seems to have the ball under control
-
El Ghazi is a willing lad, it’s just that he’s a bit rubbish.
Aye. He has some good qualities, but loses possession too easily, too often for me.
-
Ghazi done well there. Unlucky
-
I'll take a PM if one is going....
-
It's just so fucking easy to cut through us.
-
Chukwuemeka is always taking it on the turn, looking to press forward. Love it.
-
We are lucky it's still a draw.
-
Chukwuemeka is always taking it on the turn, looking to press forward. Love it.
He needs to learn the pace of mens football though, been caught on the back foot 2-3 times. In fairness he is 17, and that is all about playing and learning
-
Can't clear our lines
-
So shit against the high press.
-
Midfield and defence looks ropey.
-
Midfield and defence looks ropey.
Terribly. We look like we need a big hard holding mid.
Miss Mings organising too

Phew that was lucky.
-
Well in Carney lad.

You've made me click
-
I'm looking forward to some silky set-pieces by the way.
I think there's are better than ours. But then I'm no expert.
-
Fuck me they have got a good 15 yard advantage on that free kick
-
1-1 ht
-
Well it was not the best at times but I did enjoy it. Such a shame we haven't got Mings, McGinn, Ramsey or Bailey fit for this one.
-
Shocking start, improved thereafter. Still, anybody notice we never pass to the man under the slightest bit of pressure in midfield or attack? Always the safe option, and then always looking for a channel ball rather than something precise into feet. Like we want every attack to be a counterattack.
-
We got real lucky with the Emi free kick, Emi had clearly released the ball. I'm not sure their lad did a lot wrong. Good job the Referee is soft as shite. We lack creative spark at the moment.
-
I see that Brentford still have that niggly 'shithouse quality' about them.
-
They press much better than we do and Toney holds it up well. Ings is a good finisher but we miss Watkins's all-round game. We can score more but we need to tighten up or they will too. Midfield balance not right (again).
-
AEG has been very good.
-
AEG has been very good.
Yes, he always says thank you to the defender who dispossesses him.
-
Never quite seems to have the ball under control
Word for word what I said!
-

A characteristic we've had for years. We always play it super safe, often back to the defence or goalkeeper.
-
Whenever I see it in text AEG...it always makes me think of some brand of washing machine
-
This is all set up for Watkins. He been warming up
I also think Ings will bury his next chance
Up the villa
-
We need a midfield presence.
-
AEG has been very good.
Yes, he always says thank you to the defender who dispossesses him.
Yeah, I'm not having AEG today. He can't beat a man, but plays like he thinks he can. Frustrating.
-
We need a midfield presence.
And some. End to end - we should be dictating this kind of game.
-
We got real lucky with the Emi free kick, Emi had clearly released the ball. I'm not sure their lad did a lot wrong. Good job the Referee is soft as shite. We lack creative spark at the moment.
As clear foul as it gets, it is under control until kicked.
-
AEG has been very good.
Yes, he always says thank you to the defender who dispossesses him.
Yeah, I'm not having AEG today. He can't beat a man, but plays like he thinks he can. Frustrating.
Really? I'm usually first in line to criticise him, but I think he's had some good touches, incisive runs and sharp interplay. He'll always frustrate as well, but I think he's done some of our best stuff.
-

If he stuck to the above without trying to dribble I'd be on board.
-
O.k half for me but brentford ended it much stronger and missed a sitter. Think we need a proper cm on before they carve us open. Wont be long before we see ollie either.
-
Luiz lucky. Looked like a red card offence to me.
-
Looked like he was trying to free himself to me.
-
Yeah, same for me. Was holding his shirt around his neck
-
Stupid card AEG!
-
Strong from Cash
-
AEG very petulant. Deserved yellow.
-
WTF is Cash doing there
-
Most likely the one subbed for Ollie
-
Brentford slicing through effortlessly.
-
FFS Cash. Silly play.
-
Our ability to keep and pass the ball is so shit
-
Deal with the fucking midfield!
-
Toney one more foul and surely he is off?
-
Fair play to Ings, just keeps running
-
Fair play to Ings, just keeps running
Works very hard. Imagine him and Ollie on the pitch. Must be hell for defences
-
We look physically weaker than them.
-
Really need ollie on....its all gone very flat. There is space out there if we move it quicker.
-
Chukwuemeka is not at the races really.
-
Young is adding nothing, get Naka on please!
-
How can smith not think we desperately need a cm is beyond me
-
Oh, I've just noticed that ****** from Leeds plays for Brentford these days.
-
Shit aeg could be off
-
WTF is El Ghazi up to
-
Chukwuemeka is not at the races really.
Hard to be when you keep making yourself available and the ball keeps soaring over your head.
-
Canos you cheating fuck
-
AEG should be hooked now. 1 more and he will be off. Have him off for Naka and push Young left
-
Considering we're playing without a midfield, we're not doing too bad really.
-
Villa Park sounds like it is humming
-
Ref got told what happened, but probably can't do anything about it
-
Get aeg off and bring on ollie
-
Their number 7 is annoying but a very busy player and strong in possession. Quite a few yellows now, feels like a sending off might happen...
-
Nakamba coming on.
-
Oh, I've just noticed that ****** from Leeds plays for Brentford these days.
Clocked that last season - just had to ignore it when I wanted them to be promoted.......
-
CASH has had a poor game so far
-
Cash ffs !! That was awful. Wake up
-
Nakamba coming on.
Er, hurrah!
-
Cash is being out thought by Mbemo
-
They take the ball off us too easily.
-
They take the ball off us too easily.
We look so, so weak!
-
After giving the matter some thought this afternoon I’d suggest we try to sign a centre mid. Anyone agree?
-
Nakamba on for chuk
-
I think we’ll lose this.
-
Ings, if he’s not scoring, doesn’t do an awful lot.
-
Nakamba coming on.
I see that the signal at VP has improved then!
-
Buendia gone back to constantly losing the ball again in good positions....
-
Worst game so far for Cash. He's all over the place positionally.
-
They take the ball off us too easily.
56% possession and 100 more passes than us so far
-
Cash having a absolute stinker today
-
Buendia has to be stronger!
-
They take the ball off us too easily.
56% possession and 100 more passes than us so far
At home to cunting Brentford. Europe here we come.
-
Watkins left and JPB right for the last 20?
-
Get Ollie on for Aeg
-
Not good enough. We need to carry more of a threat.
-
Brentford who twatted Arsenal
Brentford with promoted zeal
Us with 3 main players out
-
Fouled him twice. How is that not a booking where AEG was?
-
I don’t understand the Cash criticism he’s done OK.
-
I though that was a great debut from Chuck
-
I don’t understand the Cash criticism he’s done OK.
Had 2 nervy moments, but good beside that
-
I don’t understand the Cash criticism he’s done OK.
Me neither, he's had a tough game and doing alright
-
Brentford who twatted Arsenal
Brentford with promoted zeal
Us with 3 main players out
But, apart from that....... Are you new to match threads? :)
-
Shit challenge on Ings
-
I am still looking at the other scores to see if there are 3 worse sides than us
-
If Ollie's fit enough to be on the bench he's fit enough for 20 minutes.
-
How was that not a foul on ings ffs??
-
That Wissa should be fucking off. 2 bookables and not a foul!
-
Fucking do something Villa.
-
"I think he gets that one slightly wrong"? Slightly????
-
Brentford who twatted Arsenal
Brentford with promoted zeal
Us with 3 main players out
But, apart from that....... Are you new to match threads? :)
Fair comment about our injuries but not the opposition, regardless of them having a good opening day result. We have to win these games even just to stay in the division.
-
This ref is fucking shite.
-
This ref has lost the fucking plot
-
Ings booked after being on the receiving end of a worse foul a minute before.
-
This ref is a fucking joke. Exact foul on ings not only is it a foik he books ings. Tosser
-
I am still looking at the other scores to see if there are 3 worse sides than us
Considering how many players we have out, I'd say we are easily good enough to actually have a very good season.
-
Worried this could be a red card game, and knowing our luck, it will be a Villa red
-
I am still looking at the other scores to see if there are 3 worse sides than us
Considering how many players we have out, I'd say we are easily good enough to actually have a very good season.
Yep, Norwich, Watford, Southampton, Palace, Brighton for a start will finish below us. Dear me
-
Games winnable but yet again smith too slow to react
-
I am still looking at the other scores to see if there are 3 worse sides than us
Considering how many players we have out, I'd say we are easily good enough to actually have a very good season.
I'm reserving judgement from today given the extraordinary number of absences, but it is worrying how our problems always seem to be the same ones.
-
Brillaint from AEG
-
We very obviously more depth and quality in centre mid.
-

It is more of a natural fear. We do need a lot more control in midfield.
-
Ollie coming on!
-
Cano is such a wanker
-
Watkins to score the winner!

Fair comment about our injuries but not the opposition, regardless of them having a good opening day result. We have to win these games even just to stay in the division.
We've got 3 key players out, they're still in the honeymoon period with no injuries. We'll be fine.
-
Come on Ollie
-
Bit late for Ollie but everything crossed.
-
Seeing Ollie back is a huge bonus.
-
Fuck me that should be a yellow
-
studs to the neck, common foul.. got it. learn something new every day!
-

Yep, Norwich, Watford, Southampton, Palace, Brighton for a start will finish below us. Dear me
It’ll be a bit of a fucker if they’re the only ones to finish below us though. Very early days to be fair but whilst we’ve obviously got enough to not be in trouble I’m pretty unconvinced we’ll have a ‘very good season’.
-
Worst ref I've seen for a long time.
-

Ha, ha. I can relate to that!!!
-
How the fuck is that not a second yellow
-
How the fuck is toney not booked for that and off??
-
El Ghazi has put a good shift in. I like the guy.
I wonder how long the media and neutrals will praise 'Ickle Brenftord' before they realise they are dirty spoilers?
-
Thats a definite push too. Fucking shit ref
-
That was 2nd yellow
-
Well, this is it I guess. The first-choice system minus two players.
-
And a blatent foul on tuanzebe. You piece of shit ref
-
Come on Villa, we fucking need to points big time here.
-
That Wissa is has only fouled people since coming on. That was a freekick all day. This ref is a shit
-
Come on Konsa, be ok
-
Well, this is it I guess. The first-choice system minus two players.
3 I would imagine.
-
Not looking good for Konsa. Or us.
-
Poor start if we follow a loss to watford with anything but a win v Brentford. Smith under immense pressure
-
We have no luck with injuries.
-
FFS these injuries are getting a fucking joke now
-
Konsa is fucked here
-
Poor start if we follow a loss to watford with anything but a win v Brentford. Smith under immense pressure
Tf
-
Well, this is it I guess. The first-choice system minus two players.
3 I would imagine.
I meant in the front 6 but yes. Could be about to become 4.
-
Poor start if we follow a loss to watford with anything but a win v Brentford. Smith under immense pressure
Tf
Piss off, we've had half the squad available since we started
-
Poor start if we follow a loss to watford with anything but a win v Brentford. Smith under immense pressure
Dear Lord
-
Still good enough though
-
Konsa is fucked here
It was a collision with Matty Cash that injured Konsa.
-
Referees are being more lenient this season. Other teams are taking advantage of it. We are slow on the uptake.
-
Bollocks, another injury. For once International duties are a welcome break
-
And another injury.
-
Referees are being more lenient this season. Other teams are taking advantage of it. We are slow on the uptake.
There is lenient and there is a high kick in the neck
-
Referees are being more lenient this season. Other teams are taking advantage of it. We are slow on the uptake.
The moment we do, they change their stance
-
Archer was about to come on but konsa injured hause coming on instead. Poor Cameron unlucky
-
That’s unlucky for Archer. Would have been wonderful to see him make his debut.
-
Bollocks, Konsa is a huge loss.
-
8 mins
-
Only 8?
-
These injuries are really unlucky. But... I can't see what we are actually trying to do either with the ball or without it. Headless chickens.
Oh, and our full backs are hopeless going forward and not strong enough positionally.
-
Their goalie and defence are all build like brick shithouses. These aimless crosses into the box to nobody are pointless.
-
Our breakaways are really poor.
-
The way this is going, I am ok with a draw - when can we play with full strength
-
If that's a long term injury for Konsa then the ephysio team needs sacking. Remember, they were the ones who let Trez continue against liverpool.
-
These injuries are really unlucky. But... I can't see what we are actually trying to do either with the ball or without it. Headless chickens.
Oh, and our full backs are hopeless going forward and not strong enough positionally.
We have never really settled into this game enough to dominate for any long periods.
-
Created hardly anything 2nd half
-
The Ref is a twat

Some poor performances by some of our players today.
The referee must be blind - absolutely fucking useless.
-
Their goalie and defence are all build like brick shithouses. These aimless crosses into the box to nobody are pointless.
Somebody should have told Dean.
-
The way this is going, I am ok with a draw - when can we play with full strength
Been thinking for a while we may have to take a point and regroup for the next one.
-
We have created fuck all. We still lack creativity.
-
These injuries are really unlucky. But... I can't see what we are actually trying to do either with the ball or without it. Headless chickens.
Oh, and our full backs are hopeless going forward and not strong enough positionally.
Considering we've put a really makeshift team together we've played ok
-
We just can't control games, and that's because we don't dominate in the middle of the park.
-
No real identity today. Can't really see what style we play, or what we're trying to do. Bit of a baffling performance.
-
Unlucky. AEG been superb today
-
Not good enough
-
Unlucky. AEG been superb today
Not sure about that - not sure any of our players have been superb.
-
A cross from El Ghazi!
-
Watkins lively since he came on. Great to have him back.
-
Fair result. Poor refereeing throughout.
Lack of real quality from both sides.
-
Watkins made us much more potent

He's worked his bollocks off and played very well. Chuck done pretty good and Targett looked solid again. Considering finding out late in the week we've lost Mings, McGinn, Ramsey on top of Bailey, Traore and Watkins I really don't know what people expect.
-
Haha Newcastle drew
-
Manure
Even with injuries thw tactics were absolutely pathetic. You gug giant lumps winning everything in the air and you still lumping long balls in??
Ridiculously stupid tactics from smith
-
International break has come at the right time. I don't see any identity or plan at the moment. He just look mediocre
-
We’re a billion miles away from the top 6 even with a fully fit squad. What’s our identity or style of play? Groundhog Day once again

they did work hard - I'm not saying they didn't. I'm saying no-one was superb, in my opinion. Most were about 6/10. A battling point.
-
Team works harf but the creative output for me has been poor. We are not creating enough chances.
Brilliant chelsea and united away next and we drop 2 points at home. Going to be playing catchup all season me thinks

These are the cards you are dealer chaps suck it up..really
