Hello everybody and welcome to Guess The Goal for 2021/22! 🥅
This competition is for Away Games including the FACup from December 20th 2021!😃👍
This is the introduction to the competition known as Guess the Goal. Players guess the minute a goal is scored during games at home and away, during this season.
It’s either our goal or an unfriendly one but it’s still a goal and it scores you points! That’s the basis of this game.
How This Works
I post a clearly labelled single match thread in Heroes Discussion. You choose which minute of that match a goal will be scored, posting your guess in there before Kick Off.
We play home, away and Cup competitions. If there’s a chance this season, we’ll play an Aston Villa Women’s team fixture again! 👍

How Many Points Can I Score?
Scoring: spot on the minute - 11 points!!!
Up to 1 minute away 10 points.
Up to 2 minutes 9 points.
Up to 3 minutes 8 points.
Up to 4 minutes 7 points
Up to 5 minutes 6 points
Up to 6 minutes 5 points
Up to 7 minutes 4 points
Up to 8 minutes 3 points
Up to 9 minutes 2 points
Entering the round 1 point 😁
No goals - everyone gets a point for playing the round! 😃
HOW TO PLAY
You need to post a guess identifying any minute of the match between 0 to 90.
e.g. 5. 13. 29. 34. 48. 57. 61. 72. 86. 90 and any variation on this theme.
If you want to Guess an extra time goal, it’s 45+ and 90+ .
(Just use the + and don’t worry about which extra minute it is.)
Any Goal scored within reach of your Guess scores you points!!!
This means that a good guess can net you 20+ points when we play Liverpool. 🤞
Points and your total score are based on the minute a goal is published as being scored, on the BBC.
Rounds are launched up to a few days before a match. To avoid overlapping rounds, I use some very short run-ins, so be prepared! 8)
Results for a Round are posted at the end of that thread and the updated Table appears in here. The final result will be posted here at the end of the season.
You’re always welcome to post comments and questions about GTG in here, thanks. If it makes more sense in the thread, fair enough!
Really Important Bit
You post just one guess of just one minute in a round.
And
No editing of that post, please.
For the worried:
If you’ve tripped over your fingers or thumbs (e.g. you’ve accidentally posted 3+ digits, 1 lonely digit, a strange emoji, a gif or a flight of random apostrophes) then leave it alone, post again and tell me that this is your real Guess. I might even catch on.
For the opportunistic / litigious:
You can’t have a second guess by this method. Your first must be a GTG disaster.

Well played Rotterdam 82 who was top for 3 days after the CCup R3, earlier this week👏🥳✔️
It’s rather close all the way up the Table at this stage, as anybody can get a score in double figures to lift them above the rest. Hopefully, this gets even more likely with Buendia knocking ‘em in, AEG’s pens, Ings, McGinn and Archer, and Ollie’s return.
Anybody who has nailed a 🥅 spot-on so far (and got at least 11 points thereby) is denoted with a 🌟 for each time they’ve done it!
You can revive your chances any time, just Guess The 🥅!
Round 5 is after the international break and will be the match away at Stamford Bridge on the 11th Sept so 👀 in Heroes Discussion around the end of next week.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts. It’s helpful to get a consensus and I think that Guess The Crowd for Home matches and Guess The Goal for Aways seems to hit the spot.
So, that’s what we’ll do 👍
For the the Chelsea match on Boxing Day, there will be the first round of Guess The Crowd 🥧! (Yes, it’s a balti pie.)
We need to be prepared for the possibility that it might not happen, given the numbers of players currently isolating or injured, but we’re optimistic to the last, on H&V !

Well done Louise -top of the league! Thank you for all your work organising the competitions. I went scientific this year and selected the average minute a goal was scored in the premier league. About March I realised that this is The Villa we are watching and we don't comply! Then I went random and did much better! Looking forward to next seasons GTG.
