Title: Aston Villa Memorabilia
Post by: ElliottAV on July 16, 2021, 11:17:27 AM
Hi all, wanted to start this forum as over the last year I have seen quite a few Villa fans start up collections of the Clubs memorabilia from over the years, myself included. I have seen it posted on here before but here are a few items from my collection of Villa match worn shirts from across various seasons and years, it would be great to see if anybody else has any memorabilia too, whether that being shirts, players boots or just any old memorabilia you’ve managed to pick up over the years! You'll perhaps pardon my suspicion when you've not once posted about anything other than buying or selling old shirts.

I understand no problem, I did make a post on my previous posts about the error as I’d not used this forum before and assured it would not happen again. Thanks for the message

Dubbed the "Mona Lisa of the football shirt world", The 2002-03 Kinsella shirt is believed to be the most valuable man-made item.
Gram for gram, it is worth around 2.5 million times more than 24-carat gold.

It does doesn't it. Bloody horrible, and besides beating Liverpool up at Anfield, I can't remember us ever winning in this shirt.

Ah yes, Charlton away.

Hope you're well, pal!!

I didn’t realise that Andy Lochead rosettes we’re legal tender but of course they should be and it makes perfect sense. What’s the exchange rate to a) the dollar and b) a mint condition copy of The Villa Times?

Did you manage to get a valuation for this item? It was in fact a match issue shirt for the League Cup fixture against Liverpool, a one off kit that was never actually used during a game. Quite a rare item was they were only issued to the players for that particular game.

Tangent here but the official club shop's offerings in terms of memorabilia, souvenirs and retro is quite poor in my opinion. They build it all around the current squad. I would be more inclined to buy classic stuff built around past favourites like Paul McGrath, Paul Merson, JPA etc, people who were loyal to the club and gave me great memories. I think they are missing a trick here.

Edit just did a spot check on the official site. It would seem the club's definition of 'souvenir' is to stick the club badge on a bottle opener, facemask, phone cover etc. Sort it out!

At the Old Trafford game, I went into their "megastore" to see what it was all about. Comparing our shop to that is like comparing your local corner shop to an enormous hypermarket. They must take a squillion quid on match days, and you can buy just about anything you can think of with a Man U logo on it. I saw hair straighteners, pet bowls, razors, everything. And of course thousands of shirts, with all sizes in stock.

I have got the blue and white enamel sign from the public urinal that used to stand at the junction of Witton Lane and Trinity Rd.  It advertizes treatment for veneral disease at Steelhouse Lane.  It is very valuable because it bears the name of Dr Auden the chief medical officer for Birmingham Corporation who was the father of W H Auden the poet who among other great works wrote "As I walked out on Bristol Street" which was thinly disguised conduct as a rent boy.  I also have the sign "Transfer 6d" which Peter McParland held over a team photograph. And a plastic orange from the Kia Ora kiosk that stood on the slag heap at the Witton End.

Hmm, Steelhouse lane clinic.
I had a friend who had to visit there, twice
He told me it took a long time to pluck up the courage to make the visit
He had heard all sorts of story's about things being inserted down the tube and opened up like an umbrella on the way out.
He was quite relieved when a dose antibiotics solved the problem.
The second time he was quite brave but almost forgot his new Alias
He also swore that he would never  need to go again
To my knowledge he kept the promise.

Spot on Steamer.  The penile umbrella story was commonly related to my generation to keep us away from the ladies of the night.  Worked with me because I was such a handsome target for nice clean girls.  What was that football song we used to sing?  Tiddlywinks young man, catch a woman if you can.  If you can't catch a woman catch a clean old man.
