Title: Pre-season 2021/22
Post by: Andy_Lochhead_in_the_air on June 18, 2021, 04:11:38 PM

Aston Villa have booked a pre-season friendly against National League North side Leamington next month.

The Brakes have confirmed that Villa will be sending their under-23 squad for the fixture which will take place on Wednesday, July 21 with kick-off at 7.30pm.

The match will take place at the Your Co-op Community Stadium - 45 minutes south of Villa Park - with Leamington hopeful of welcoming supporters for the game.

Leamington's home ground has a capacity of 2,300, and a club spokesman said via its website: "We hope to be able to welcome supporters for the game but this will depend on loosening of restrictions. We will update here and on social media in due course."

A statement added: "Having faced a young Villa side behind closed doors in pre season last year Paul Holleran and his team will be well aware of the quality the Premier League club's youngsters, who will provide another much needed workout as we gear up for the new season."

Mark Delaney's and George Boateng's under-23s will return to pre-season training alongside the first team at Bodymoor Heath on Monday, July 5. Villa's side against Leamington will feature the majority of the FA Youth Cup-winning side with Brad Young, Aaron Ramsey, Louie Barry, Arjan Raikhy and Kaine Kesler all set to feature.

As for Villa's first team, the club is yet to confirm its plans for this summer with Villa still awaiting the next government update in terms of travelling abroad.

BirminghamLive has been informed that the bulk of Villa's training camp will be conducted in the UK with the hope of a few days in Europe at some stage for more intense training and some friendlies.

Head coach Dean Smith told us: "We’ve planned around when we start back. Pre-season is already planned. The players will return on July 5.

"We’ve got games sorted already. We’ve got a really good academy at the moment at the club and have just won the FA Youth Cup so that will help make a few additions to the training group as we start our pre-season. We can have a good look at them and they can see how we work at first-team level.

"We're also looking at the possibility (of going abroad). We have a Plan A where we go abroad and a Plan B where we don’t. We are hopeful we can but it will be government-binding, whether it’s a green-listed country or not.

"But we've also touched base with Lovre Kalinic, Freddy Guilbert and Conor Hourihane and they’ll all be reporting back for training. Conor will be on July 11 because he’s got international games. Kalinic may get called up for the Euros so that will be progression-dependent. Fred Guilbert will start back on July 5."

U21s entered in the 'Papa Johns Trophy' with MK Dons, Burton Albion and Wycombe Wanderers. Would look great next to the Intertoto and the Peace Cup.

I hate under-21s being in the competition. It's a rare chance for the smaller clubs to have a day in the sun at Wembley and maybe win a trophy. The top flight clubs should leave it the fuck alone. Same goes for the Scottish Challenge Cup.

I'm fairly sure Leamington ground is basically a field in the middle of nowhere, was going to go a few years back when Walsall were playing them in pre season but something else came up so didn't tick it off.

Sure Woodhall's been there on a few occasions.

Where did Dean give his quotes, at a presser or on the blower? The chap should still be on well-deserved hols in the Highlands.

Yeah it is. Only about 5 minute drive from my office (not that I have been there for nearly 16 months).

You may see Gordon Strachan there - his local team or was a couple of years back

Once, and field in the middle of nowhere is about right. I did hear that they were moving again, presumably to another field a bit nearer this side of nowhere.

From AVFC

Quote
Aston Villa will entertain La Liga side Sevilla at Villa Park as part of pre-season preparations for the forthcoming 2021/22 campaign.

Villa will face a tough test against a Sevilla side who finished fourth in Spain’s top flight last season, once again securing a place in the UEFA Champions League this term, and have won the Europa League in four of the last eight years, subsequently going on to compete in four Super Cup finals.

Dean Smith’s side will host the Spanish outfit on Saturday, August 7 (ko 3pm) – a week before their Premier League campaign gets underway against Watford.

There will also be pre-season fixtures against neighbours Walsall and Stoke City this summer, in addition to a behind-closed-doors match at the club’s Bodymoor Heath Training Ground against Nottingham Forest.

The dates and kick-off times are below:

Wednesday, July 21 (ko 7.30pm) - Walsall (A)

Saturday, July 24 (ko 3pm) - Stoke City (A)

Wednesday, July 28 (ko 1pm) - Nottingham Forest (H – Bodymoor Heath)

Saturday, August 7 (ko 3pm) - Sevilla (H – Villa Park)

Please note, the match against Nottingham Forest will not be accessible to supporters but full ticket details for our other three confirmed fixtures will be released in due course.

The club are hopeful of adding additional matches to the pre-season schedule and will update supporters with any further information.

Stoke...ha! Must stick in the craw of their lot, both clubs operating in different planes now.

That last line about hoping to add additional games....when would they squeeze them in (weekend Jul 31st/Aug 1st seems the only likely date)?

Last Stoke away was the game when our season took off - one nil half time (come on villa come on from the fans at Half time) before Adomah notched an equaliser (the Gordon Banks game)

Yep Scottish Cafu out for the season first half, Sweet Caroline at half time and apparently Deano lost it with them at half time, fantastic second half and deserved more than just the draw. Several very nice Titanic brews and oatcakes before and after, great day. 2 days later, Jack was back.

I can't remember if it was the 70/71 or 71/72 game at Fellows Park but if you went to their previous home game you got a voucher to guarantee a ticket. It probably put a few thousand on their gate with Villa fans turning up to get the voucher. I drive past on my way to work where its now a Morrisons and always recall seeing loads of Villa streaming away from the ground before kick off having gone through the turnstiles getting their voucher and leaving. We stopped for the game but I cant remember who they played. There was 19k for the 70/71 game on Jan 2nd, and 13k the following season.

Yes, though the video feed will cost. There are a couple of offers where you get all 5 friendlies plus either part or all of the season.

Previously there has been an option to buy a single game for a few quid, though not seen that yet. UTV.

No doubt. I paid for the pre season games and it came back with an error message. Then moments later with me cursing and thinking I’d have to re-register I got on email saying it had all been processed. Well, it just meant they had my money. Now I fully expect to miss the kick off.

Not a bad line up given it's the first game back. Looks like Chuk will be playing the 10 with Emi B and El Ghazi on the flanks, Ollie leading the line.

Aston Villa starting XI: Steer, Cash, Konsa (c), S.Revan, A.Young, J.Ramsey, Nakamba, Chukwuemeka, El Ghazi, Buendia, Watkins.

Substitutes: Sinisalo, Marschall, Kesler Hayden, Wright, Barry, Raikhy, B.Young.

I feel like some of the early pre-season games in previous years have been available free on the clubs YouTube. Distinctly remember watching Jota v RB Leipzig and thinking he was going to carry us to the Title.

Bit disappointed they're not repeating that and literally every game is now pay per view.

Steer is a great 2nd keeper for me, not good enough to start in the top half of the league but a very decent backup. 3rd keeper is always a difficult one, generally you either have a kid who can still get games for the U23s or you get someone like Mark Bunn, I prefer the former.

It very much depends which country they come from...
Guilbert?
Giiilbert or Guilbert.
(Asking, as I don't know)
It's a hard G so it's like guilt or guild in English.

Rego always gets it wrong. His name would have to be Gilbert for his pronunciation to be correct.

It's as annoying as people saying Martínez with the emphasis on the first syllable. It's got an accent on the i for a reason and so is like 'Marteeneth' although some South American speakers would say 'Marteenes'.

As an aside, I've always wondered how to pronounce Bojan Krkic's first name.

His dad is Serbian, suggesting it's pronounced "Bow-Yan". But he is Spanish, so could be "Bow-Han". However,  he was born in Catalonia, so would it be "Bow-Zyan"?

I understand how it's sounds in their language,  just not sure when do you stop pronouncing it in native,  to make it "english". Bruno Fernandes is one example. It will sound silly if English commentators start using the Portuguese version.

Enjoyed that game.

Positives - Buendia and Watkins combined well. Four goals. A run out for some of the youth. Like the look of Bogarde and Philogene Bidace.

Negatives - Wesley does not look like he is in any danger of being good enough. Davis looked great until he gets in the penalty box then did his usual thing.

Would like to see Traore tried out as a striker during pre-season as he has to be a better option than either of those two. God forbid Ollie picked up an injury we would struggle as is.

Title: Re: Pre-season 2021/22
Post by: ldavfc4eva on July 22, 2021, 07:05:46 AM
Decent run out for the lads, and no injuries which is important.

Wesley and Davis didn’t look anywhere near like what we need from backup strikers, Sir Brian himself kept on saying the same thing, that they needed to look like they want to compete and give the manager a headache - they haven’t.

Buendia played as a 10 from what I saw but moved in a pretty free role, some of his passes were sublime and he and Olly are already working well together.

I thought Hourihane had a decent game when he was on, also Guilbert looked decent enough to not need another right back.

The Ramsay brothers had a good half each, and the centre back Bogarde too.

All in  all a good run out, 4 goals and a clean sheet but lots to do for some of the players of they want to get in to the first 11, or in the case of Wes and Davis stay in the squad.

I mostly agree on the comments about Wesley and Davis.
As Sir Brian said in commentary, neither looked capable of pushing themselves into contention for a starting place.

That said and in mitigation, the service to them was appalling.
Wesley was involved in the build up to both second half goals, but he always looks to me to be a yard off the play and not very confident. I guess that will come by giving him more playing time?
Davis on the other hand was just poor, maybe the knee tweak he got 5 seconds after coming on affected him?

Emi x 2 and Ollie though…….we are going to see some football porn this season I’m sure.

Didn't see the game, but if it's more a thing that he lacks confidence and is a bit off the pace - to me, that's perfectly understandable.  He's not played for 18 months through injury, so you'd expect both of those.

Think one of Davis and Wesley (probably Davis) needs to go out on loan this season.  I'd rather keep Wes than, say, do a Josh King type signing ... OK, you might get 10 goals a season out of King  .... but more likely he'll score 2 or 3 goals, cost a tonne in wages, and he'll be the answer to an obscure quiz question in 10 years time.  Wes, at least, if he scores a few goals then we should be able to move him on next summer.

As for Keinan.  He needs to go somewhere and start scoring more goals.  I don't think he'll ever be prolific, but if he can start looking like a player who might get 8-10 goals a season, he'd be a very good third choice striker for me.  Offers something a bit different, would be relatively cheap to keep on, and hopefully reasonably comfortable not being the 'main man'.

For me he started the half really well, was involved in everything including the assist for JPB and probably should've scored at least 1. On about the hour mark he dropped deeper and played more as a 10 and wasn't very involved from then on. I don't think him and Davis together worked because both of them wanted to play in the same areas a lot of the time. Generally though things got a bit flat after our 4th because they started sitting a lot deeper to avoid the hammering that might have come other wise.

Great to be back in the stands watching the first team. Loved every minute of it.

These games are always fitness exercises and I imagine it was tougher for some than others (McGinn looks like he's had a good three weeks off!)

Positives, aside from Buendia and Watkins (who both look quality up close) Nakamba looked close to full fitness and did well and I imagine will start at Watford, with Douglas's Olympic involvement.

I'm afraid Wesley and Davis are just not up to it. Wesley stopped running after 15 mins and I thought the movement of both was poor. Yes, granted it's a pre-season.

But I can't now wait for the season proper to start .

Aaron Ramsey has the look of a real star about him. Technically impressive, ruthless finishing. A kind of languid yet deadly style that reminds me of Luke Moore and Mason Greenwood in parts.

Based on what I've seen at youth level, I would argue that he should be pushing for regular first team involvement ahead of Chucky or any of the other Youth Cup heroes.

By half five we'd been beaten to our seats on the second row of the UT. We've had to make do with the ones directly in front of us on the front row. Odd.

I managed to get our own seats on the front row of Upper Trinity as well, I bought mine at 17:04, 5 minutes later all front row of our block was sold.

I have received an email about the Seville tickets - £10.00 for season ticket holders / waiting list / members

Could be a decent crowd
Yep.  They don't reserve your ST seat, so if you want your usual seat get in quick.  Bagsied mine, will be great to be back in K5.

That's a bit off, not reserving ST seats for a few days.

Has anybody else got the 5 match and premium access pack? I have been downloading it for almost 45 minutes now, is this normal?

I’m hoping that i’ve only bought it once!  Also that it finishes downloading before the Stoke match actually starts. 🤞

I followed the instructions on the page and since then it just keeps loading. There’s nobody available on on the contact numbers to ask, so I thought I’d try in here. Any help/comments gratefully received...🙏🏼

UTV!

A. Ramsey starts. This boy could be the next breakthrough, won't be surprised if he ends the season ahead of his brother in the pecking order (different type of player but you take my point - "I take your point..."(Partridge)).

Sanson not involved at all, like against Walsall. Is he still injured?

We are not going to start the season with Steer in goal, Bogarde at centre back, Aaron Ramsey and El Ghazi in the side.  There is a lot of work still to do with Traore and Sanson to come back with Mings, Jack, Luiz and Emi too.  It's a covid affected pre-season and a pain in the arse but by the Sevilla game, I expect things to have settled down. In the words of Randy Lerner, pre-season is such a false narrative.

I don’t see the point of sending Keinan out on loan. If we don’t rate him enough to have him here then we may as well sell him.

However it makes more economic sense to sell him the summer after he's scored 12 goals for Stoke or Swansea than it does now. If we sell him tomorrow he's a £2m sale. Knock in a few goals next season and he's an £8m sale.

Not too worried about the result, although always nicer to win them.

Looks to me like the club have taken the opportunity in pre-season to see if 1. We need another striker (or Wesley can step up), and 2. We need to replace Engels (or one of the youngsters can fill in as 4th choice).

The answer to 1. is an emphatic no. Wesley has been bloody awful, and now has added a stupid red card to the blots on his copybook. Does he get a three match ban in pre-season? If so thats all chance of having him match fit pissed away. Idiot.

The answer to 2. Is less clear. I really like the look of Bogarde, and Revan did ok today too. Not sure I'd trust either witha long run in the team if we had injuries, but for the odd game maybe they could step up.

Wasn't the best of performances, but thought Watkins, Young, Buendia, Ramsey, El Ghazi and Cash all looked good. Steer had some pretty shaky moments, prefer Sinisalo on that showing.

Put Mings, Martinez and Grealish back in that team and we would have won comfortably, this is more about looking at the depth in the team.

Good summary Ashton, that is exactly what pre-season is about.  Three match ban from the start of the season for Wesley.  Hope for some movement in the transfer market this week but Bailey is away with his country so that will have to wait.  I's like to see Carney Chuck get some minutes.

Absolutely livid.
Bought the 'Match Pass' and the Laptop nearly went flying when Wesley Attacked the Stoke City player, I don't think I've ever seen that in a friendly before. What was he thinking? Get a new striker and Goalkeeper for the Bench in immediately.  Worrying performance and a wake up call to the Board.

It's only a friendly.  Yes, Wes was stupid but we have loads of players to come back and had a load of kids involved.  Just under three weeks before we kick off properly.

Given you're "absolutely livid' and nearly smashed your laptop over a pre-season friendly I'm not sure it's Wesley's 'anger management' issues you should be concerned about.

Traore I think had a hernia op so will not be back hard training just yet so probably not ready for start of season.

Trez is reported as being long term (was this the injury in the last game of season?)

Sansom   have not seen anything on his injury - anyone know the severity or expected time out ?

Anyone enquiring about Villa’s injured players…just assume they’re out for the season is what I normally think. If it’s only a simple cold, they should be back in the new year but, don’t hold your breath.
Seriously, I read somewhere a while ago, when we signed Buendia, that we wanted to get our business done before we got back into pre season training. Seem like a long way off from that. We desperately need a couple of decent strikers and, Wesley is definitely not the answer. Get him out on loan ASAP or, better still, sell him on IF we can get any decent money for him.

I'm not sure why being on the ST waiting list has become a criteria?  It costs nothing and means nothing and now will probably mean an influx of people on the waiting list who have no intention of buying one.  Bang goes any reliability and usefulness of waiting list stats etc.

If they thought it was going to sell out, why not just start with some purchase history tiers?

Please excuse what could be a daft question but, I haven't seen Matt Target featuring in any pre-season game so far.  Is he injured?
Out injured in this one but played in the previous lot.

He's in the team for the Crewe game.
Ah ok, read he took in a knock in training.

Filip Marschall
Hayden Lindley
Brad Young

So where is Chuck, Targett, Davis, Wesley etc ?

Playing at BMH against Crewe but there doesn't seem to be any news about how that game is going.

Kick off 3pm

I've seen 3 different times so far, 12, 12:30 and 3. The lack of news so far does make me think the 3pm one is correct.
Game ended. Barry scored the winner, 1-0

Just got back from Bristol which turned out to be a decent workout, didn't really have to get out of second gear but then again we didn't need to as the City defence was very accommodating. Philogene Bidace looked decent and I can see him getting a few more minutes this season in cup games. Ash Young was unlucky with a free kick which hit the bar but looked like he was hobbling a bit in the second half. Also good to see a ref ignore players throwing themselves to the floor at the slightest touch and letting the game continue.

I thought hell would freeze over before Villa fans sang “There’s only one Kevin Friend”.

But it happened today! He was getting dogs abuse in the first half, and I saw that he kept acknowledging our fans every time.

Then in the second half, he jokingly gets out the yellow card and books the away end! It ended up being all very pleasant indeed.

Anybody planning to come down the M6 should be aware that it will be closed at Junction 10 from Friday until Sunday whilst new bridge beams are installed.

Traffic will be diverted up and over the junction.

You can expect pretty big hold ups, so find an alternative route and set off early.

I missed out in the Chelsea ballot last season, so this will be me and my lads first time back at villa park since the Spurs game in Feb 2020, and first time seeing live since Wembley and the league cup final.
Sitting in the lower Trinity, rather than our normal season ticket seats in the Holte. I simply cannot wait to be back. I know it’s only a friendly, half the first team or new signings might not play and the G word has turned his back on us for project soulless club. But just walking through the turnstiles with my son for the first time since the pandemic is bigger than all of that, roll on tomorrow evening.

Everyone is entitled to deal with things differently/have an opinion but it will be horrid. I won't go to the game in November either, not because I can't stomach him in their chap kit but more I can't stand the thought of watch 40k giving him a good cheer. This will only boast his ego and encourage him to have a good game anyway. For those going tomorrow I hope they have a great day with what should be a party atmosphere

In terms of supporters, completely anecdotal, but my kids (14 and 11) who have both been season ticket holders for years, good and bad, are a little more sympathetic, in terms of their gutted, my son immediately changed his phone screen saver from Grealish to Konsa etc, but they are not bitter or despise him, unlike me…so I think it will potentially be mixed when arrives back in November.
As for tomorrow, I can’t fathom why the club would even mention him, the Purslow statement is I imagine a line drawn under it and they’ll be promoting the new signings tomorrow surely?

I would hope the Club are working to remove every vestige of him around the Stadium, they'd be foolish not to. It's not disrespectful, he's not with us any more, he is no longer of any relevance unless you are the Club historian.

I've paid £20 for tomorrow and I am still deflated that I don't want to go. I know its sound ridiculous, just being honest. I just can't work out if he's got a rats head on a snakes body or the other way.

I would go. Don't let an ex player who wanted to play for someone else stop you. Go along and see a glimpse of the future.

Could try arranging a select Xl, players who for one reason or another wont get a run out this weekend. Messi (free agent), Kane (on strike), Ratboy (18th in pecking order), Ross Barkley (42nd in pecking order)......

Aston Villa can confirm that an open training session will take place at Villa Park tomorrow at 3pm in place of the scheduled fixture against Sevilla which has been cancelled due a COVID outbreak in the Spanish team.

Fans who purchased tickets for the friendly will be issued a full refund next week but are invited to attend the training session free of charge using the same ticket and sitting in the same seat they purchased for the friendly. Refunds will be issued to the lead booker of each transaction and back to the method of payment used to purchase the tickets.

Supporters who bought hospitality for the game are also welcome to attend tomorrow’s open training session and will be contacted separately about their arrangements.

Supporters in attendance tomorrow will be able to watch the players train as well as hearing from Head Coach Dean Smith and the club’s summer signings live on the pitch. No further ticket sales will be available for the open training session.

Despite our best efforts, the club were unable to find a team to replace Sevilla for tomorrow’s friendly at such short notice and apologise for any inconvenience caused to our supporters.

We remain in advanced discussions with clubs about another staging another friendly game against quality opposition in the coming days. However, we have been advised that any such game will be behind closed doors as we have been unable to obtain permission from West Midlands Police and other relevant authorities to allow supporters entry into Villa Park at short notice.

Any supporters who bought packages which included the Sevilla game on our Villa TV streaming service will be advised as soon as possible of further arrangements when our discussions with other teams about pre-season games are concluded.

I went along as my daughter pulled a face when I said I didn't fancy it so I gave in, a healthy crowd and great to see familiar faces. A wonderful PR exercise from the club with interviews, autographs and players throwing balls into the crowd, mainly a young crowd and a lot of smiling faces. Well done Villa and Dean.

In the little game, Ollie looked razor sharp, Traore very inventive and the young lads looked decent if a little raw with Ramsey the pick.

Matty Cash is really going to have to get a haircut, some bigger shorts and black boots. For those of us with deteriorating eyesight, he looked identical to you know who.

Ollie did look really sharp as did Ings, noticed the two of them chatting a lot as well, could be the start of a great front two. Traore also looked good, could be a three of Ollie, Ings and Traore next week.

Tbf, Ash isn't playing like a 36 year-old. Could prove to be a shrewd bit of business.

Looked fit as a fiddle at Bristol. Seeing him live, he could be in his late twenties with his level of fitness.

Salternatita are well set up defensively, so we'll have to work hard to create chances. Grealish isn't there so we've got to find a new method and combinations. A good test without Leon the Lion and one of our 2 Emigos.

Great goal that. Who needs Joe?

Pity Joe Bache is not still around, now he is a Villa legend.

2 years older than gabby too. Careers went very different ways!

One took his career very seriously, the other simply didn’t. Both when younger in the same side were about the same in terms of potential.

Disagree. Gabby's outstanding talent was his pace. Young had far more in his locker, technically superior.

It is interesting though - they were great mates at Villa. Like you said, the difference in how they applied themselves for the second half of their careers...like night and day.

Not involved in 18 man squad, I make out to be:

Guilbert
Luiz
Sanson
Buendia
Bailey
Trezeguet
Wesley
Davis

We certainly have the numbers this season but I think I'd sacrifice quantity (three or four outgoings) for quality (one or two more incomings).

I thought we were much better with the three in midfield with Carney playing just off the front in the second half.  We played the ball quicker when we packed the centre of the park and had forward thinking midfielders on the pitch in Ramsey and Hourihane.  Poor set plays again, but hopefully, Austin McPhee will sort those.  I don't think the 442 was as effective.  Lovely third goal and some great interplay between several players.  We gave away a poor goal and I hate the zonal marking thing.  With Bailey, Buendia and hopefully a couple of others to come in, we will better.  Looks grim for Wesley and Freddie, not on the bench today as far as I could tell.  Hope Watkins is ok.

Got to have Ashley on from the start next week

Agreed. Same starting line up as today except Young and Buendia for El Ghazi and Bidace. If Watkins is unfit keep El Ghazi in.
I assume Bailey won’t be ready. Not sure what’s happening with Buendia?

Hip apparently. He's still doing gym work in the training vids of recent, probably not involved in contact as a precaution.

Gabby lost his pace after his injury. He was very average without pace.

Thought Jacob Ramsey showed good feet in the lead up to Young's goal. Can't see us signing any more players now, Dean will have a headache, I feel, in choosing the starting line-up next week.

I do agree we need to be better on dead balls, the irony being that we could well start next week without any of El Ghazi, Young and Hourihane. I do hope El Ghazi starts though. At least Matty Cash appears to have been working on throw-ins; a great one into the box in the first-half.

It’s easy to forget and be unfair to Gabby’s career at its height. Yes his most identifiable and potent attribute was his pace. But he could score with both feet, and despite not being the tallest player, outstanding in the air. He bulked up and lost a lot the edge his pace gave him and the rest of his career doesn’t need to be rehashed.

Like two otehr mates, Gareth Barry and Lee Hendrie.

I don't think anybody can say Gabby was not a good player  at his peak.  I just feel his peak ended far too soon and some of that was lifestyle choices

Good shout. The Brummie boy in both cases didn't push-on.

Does staying local make it easy to take it easier (your loved in your hometown (mostly), your mates and family are there to distract you etc.)? I wonder if any of that was playing on Grealish's mind or his representatives this summer.

It could work the other way with Grealish. His family did everything for him throughout his 25 years and were always there for him. He doesn’t have that now. Of course he can have a pleather of servants around him now at his beck and call but they won’t be able to do Jack’s favourite dishes they way Mom does them. Missing the family support
Unit is not to be underestimated in his case.

He walked off the pitch, wasn’t limping. Did go straight down the tunnel though.  Was a slight twist of an ankle I think.

I think the only thing playing on his representatives' minds was if he doesn't move we don't get anything

Came to this thread first thing in the morning slightly bleary-eyed, saw the line-up for the friendly and unthinkingly looked to see if Jack was playing.

Dozy ******. This is a scab that won't heal over quickly.
