Just had a look and the new premier league fixtures are out this coming Wednesday at 9am.
Who you fancy?
I don't want brentford 1st esp away. As their first ever premier league game you know they will up be up for it.
I wouldnt mind getting city or united away 1st game get that out the way early in the season.
Final game at home please 😁
-
Bound to be away, we usually are. Likely to be Norwich or Brentford at a guess.
-
If our first game is at home, doesn't matter who they are. They're getting twatted. Man U, please.
-
Man U at home, switched to Friday night
-
Goo on then. 🙂
-
The precise order in which we record our 38 wins and 38 clean sheets is academic. As CD says, whoever we play first, they’re getting twatted.
-
Blose or the Olbiyun at home....Oh!
Palace or Newcastle at home will do fine.
-

Noooo ! I massively enjoyed the Everton at home Friday night but I’ve got tix for England v India at lords that day and they’ve cost me a quarter of the price of my ST for the whole season so would like to go. Hoping for Saturday - 5.15 would be nice for a couple of pints pre match.
-
Palace or Everton at home. Someone in a mess.
-
Newcastle away
-
Just please not one of the promoted sides first. Especially Brentford
-
Palace or Everton at home. Someone in a mess.
Wolves then
-
Arsenal. 1st against 2nd in the table.
-
I’d be happy with Arsenal away. Win that and we’ve set out our stall for the season.
-
It's going to be Brentford away.
-
I don't care about it - just don't roll over and die in the four games involving the two teams from Manchester, please Villa.
-
It's going to be Norwich away where Buendia will get loads of shit off the yokels before scoring the winner and sprinting the length of the pitch making a shushing motion at them!!
-
Got a feeling it will be Liverpool
-

Play Conor. He scores and/or sets up 5. We win 10-1. We sell him a week later for £20m. Job done.
-
I'd rather avoid the promoted teams in the first few weeks. Sometimes it's good to get some big guns early before they hit their straps, so I wouldn't mind Chelsea.
-
If crowds are still restricted, get one of the tough aways over with, we'll have a better chance without their braying fans.
-
Promoted teams always get drawn against the Big Four™ first up, so we'll have to wait until next season for that.
Anyone at home first up will do. Full house, epic noise, arses handed back on a plate.
-
We are suited to playing away and I would rather expose a side and help us get into the groove by playing on the counter right off the bat. So for me anyone in that mid table pr lowe grouping away. Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, Wolves, Newcastle etc would be fine. Leeds would be tough, and the promoted clubs always tricky. No interest in Brentford away too early. Norwich though is always a good.
-
Since we beat ManU on that opening game way back in the last decade, i think they've decreed to the PL that they must play us well into the season so that they've got games under their belt, and in a better
position to get a last minute equaliser or a win when they've come out of a bad patch. So ManU 1st game please

Not always. Baggies played Leicester last season and Sheffield United played Bournemouth year before that. Couldn't be arsed checking beyond that but I can remember us travelling to Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Stoke for their first Premier League games.

This is my annual reminder that I Was Once On The Fixtures Committee (And Therefore Know More Than Any of You).
-
Norwich
nailed on i reckon
-
I don't know who we will get but we are bound to be away. Including last year's scheduled Man City game which was postponed, we've been away first game in nine of the past ten years. It used to make sense that if you started away you finished at home, and vice versa, but they got rid of that rule because it was a good idea.
-
Boxing Day fixtures are arranged to be as localised as possible, so a northern club will never play a southern club.
Last day of the season, the so called big '6' never play each other.
Clubs will never start the season or finish the season with 2 home games or with 2 away games.

I certainly don't want Man City. They will likely celegrate the trophy again and in front of pretty full stadium depend on how many allowed in. They will probably batter whoever they play.

The first two aren't true and the third rarely happens.
-
First game: Southampton (a)
Boxing Day: Leicester (a)
Final Game: Tottenham (h)
My predictions.
-
I remember us kicking off the season with two local derbies in two consecutive seasons when we played at home to Albion in the first game in 1983 and at home to Coventry in the first game in 1984.
-

Be interesting to see what sort of reception JWP gets on his return to his old club.

Checking the Premier League website, the third one is true and it also says the computer will try and minimise travel on Boxing Day. Regarding the second one, there is nothing in black and white, but I can't remember the last time that happened and I always take a point at looking at the last day fixtures.
-
Everton at home.
Insider knowledge, believe me.

I didn't realise the Boxing Day thing; it's not like they give a toss about travelling at other times of the season.
-
My memory isn’t the best but I certainly remember going to Swansea on a Boxing Day fairly recently. That’s another country, let alone not local.

The problem with our geographical position is that what's local for one club is a bugger of a journey for us. We could well have been Swansea's nearest.
-
Man Utd at home
3-1 win to set up a 4th place finish, league cup win and FA Cup semi finalists, repeat of my first season supporting us
We can but dream

That was my favourite ever season. But can we win the FA Cup please?

Yes Richard, let’s go one better than Sir Brian’s team.
That was my first season supporting us and there has been nothing like it since, we had Euro 96 that summer too so it was football heaven.
-

We played them on new year's a few years back. Took the missus as we were visiting her folks. 2 each, I think. Late equaliser, but most vivid recollection was the not a penalty handball down their end.
-

They try to arrange local games where possible, but won't arrange local derbies on Boxing Day. That means Swansea has to play a Midlands side which, I think, they always did every Boxing Day when they were up.
Similarly we sometimes play Norwich on Boxing Day, as there is no "local" alternative.
-
So if boxing day is more local and not a derby you would think its likely to be a london game.
I bet its brentford 1st game or boxing day
-
People can't even be bothered to leak fake fixture lists any more. What have we become...?!
-
I’ve never got het up about the fixtures coming out. We have to play everyone twice so what’s the fuss about the order they are played in.
The main thing for me about fixtures coming out is that football is just around the corner.
-

They been put on furlough

Apart from Christmas, Easter and you birthday, obviously
-
Watford away first, two newly promoted teams in first month. Not mad on that.
Away first game and last game. No excuse for that, should be one or the other.
-
Not a bad start to the season Watford (A) Newcastle (H) Brentford (H)
-
We HAVE to beat those game raising twats Brentford this time. No fucking about.
-
Title decider on the last day.
-
September and December looking like tough months
-
Two weekends I know I can't attend so of course we are at home both of them. ******.
-
Still we are at home Boxing Day, I like that.

I'll see you're two and raise you three ffs. If there is still a ballot system, it'll save me entering at least.
-
Man City away last game of the sesason.
-
I hate playing newly-promoted sides early on in the season. Watford away is a poor first game.
-
I don't think you're supposed to put the full list on here, it's copyrighted.
Here's a link for when that inevitably gets deleted 😀

So do and add we havent win there in years. Shit opening game for us
-
Once in the last eleven years we've played at home in the first weekend.
-

Man United 8/11 at home in same period I think.
-
So nobody got Watford, poor effort lads, must try and do better next year :)

Moved to 9pm.
-
For everyone concerned about playing newly promoted teams first, just remember how easily we beat Fulham last season. And even in our worst ever season we won at Bournemouth first game.
It’s arguably better to play them before they find their feet.

What a terrible graphic. The text for the away games is barely distinguishable in places
-
Hopefully this will give us a chance to make a similar start as last year. 9 points on the board by September

April really is the cruellest month.

Same. Weddings both weekends. FFS. Considering not going to the weddings!
-
Hopefully we can get off to a flyer by winning those first three 'winable' fixtures.
-
There should be one definite fixture change (even before all the TV matches start changing dates).
Unless Spurs manage to lose in their play-off match, they will be in the new Europa Conference League with a group match on September 30th, so the away match at Spurs will be on Sunday October 3rd (or maybe the Monday).
-
Title decider on the last day.
No we will have it all wrapped up by then😁
-
I've decided we're winning the league. Title decider on the final day of the season.
-
We certainly have a reasonable chance of winning August.

I wouldn’t worry. Weddings are being postponed left right and centre at the moment. Even autumn weddings are giving up hope for this year.

Bit of a mixed record, lost to West Ham in Lambert's first game and can also remember Portsmouth doing us years ago with Sheringham scoring (he was about 52 at the time).
That said have to be optimistic for 7 points from the first 3 although possible fatigue from euros could be an issue as it will be disrupted pre season for many of our guys (also likes of Emi and Doug in Copa America).
-
Didn't Stoke beat us in their first home game in the PL?
-
Didn't Stoke beat us in their first home game in the PL?
And that (shudders) although was second weekend of the season as we beat Man. City at home on the first day.
-
Really decent opening fixtures. Pleased with that.
-
Didn't Stoke beat us in their first home game in the PL?
And Portsmouth.
We beat Bournemouth though in that memorable season!
(edit) - sorry, already mentioned above!
-
Didn't Stoke beat us in their first home game in the PL?
Yep - 3-2 with a late winner.
We do seem to get a disproportionate number of newly promoted teams first game. Statistics suggest it should happen once every 6 years but we'll have played promoted teams first up twice in our last four top flight seasons.
-

O'Dreary's debut and Barry got sent-off (for mouthing-off at the ref - not for getting his clean shorts dirty).
-
I mean if we are talking first day debacles, the Champions of England losing to newly promoted Notts County in the first game takes some beating!
-
Yeah, what the fcuk happened there?
-
No Traore or Nakamba for much of January/February due to African Cup of Nations. Would have been nice to play Liverpool during that, but no such luck.
-
I don't care about who we play or when. It all finishes up the same. Everybody plays everybody home and away. Brilliant idea.
"Every year it is becoming more and more difficult for football clubs of any standing to meet heir friendly engagements and even arrange friendly matches. The consequence is that at the last moment, through cup-tie interference, clubs are compelled to take on teams who will not attract the public. I beg to tender the following suggestion as a means of getting over the difficulty is that ten or twelve of the most prominent clubs in England combine to arrange home-and-home fixtures each season, the said fixtures to be arranged at a friendly conference about the same time as the International Conference. This combination might be known as the Association Football Union, and could be managed by representative from each club. Of course, this is in no way to interfere with the National Association; even the suggested matches might be played under cup-tie rules. However, this is a detail. My object in writing to you at present is merely to draw your attention to the subject, and to suggest a friendly conference to discuass the matter more fully. I would take it as a favour if you would kindly think the matter over, and make whatever suggestions you deem necessary. I am only writing to the following - Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End, West Bromwich Albion, and Aston Villa, and would like to hear what other clubs you would suggest.
"I am, yours very truly, William Mc Gregor (Aston Villa F.C.)
"P.S. - How would Friday, 23rd March, 1888, suit for the friendly conference at Anderton's Hotel, London?"
-
Didn't Stoke beat us in their first home game in the PL?
In 1986 Wimbledon beat us at Plough Lane in their first-ever game in the top flight

If they aren't your children's weddings you have my permission at least to go to the games 👍

The season didn't go well the last time we played and beat a promoted team in the first game of the season.

Any particular memories, Frank? Wonder if VillaBoy has any of the clips from it.
-
I thought that was at home. Wally Downes
Scored.
-
It was away, my brother went. Got lost en route and they got there at half time. A bit like the team.
-
If you want a 1st packed home game its against Newcastle. Fistface factor, and the teams shit too. A nice winnable home game to start with

Ahem, after the season just gone, let's not use the "W" word, especially in relation to home games!

And they say the camera never lies. If you watched that as his YT clips montage you would think he was a world beater when we all know the reality was that he looked like he put his boots on without taking them out of the box

He couldn't actually run and control a ball at the same time. If he didn't play for us, it would have been quite amusing.

We are battering whoever we play first game at home. Typical they give us a match we should win anyway.

He's been playing for Melbourne Victory (or not) in the Australian League this year and has looked terrible. They finished bottom of the league.

I thought September TV games had already been announced? Where is the official announcement on fixtures such as these two?
-
It is on the Villa official site.

Chelsea and Everton in September both moved for TV
The only time I've wanted them to move the fixture to a Friday night and the Sky tossers can't even deliver that for me for the Everton game!
-
Both games stay on the Saturday but have moved to 1730 and will be on Sky.

Down with Sky!!

Peaky Blinders live? How does that work...didn't know they had much of a musical repertoire.
-
For the Royal Mail contingent amongst us, 530 on a Saturday is a godsend these days..thanks Sky🤣

If it pisses down all day they might move the cricket to Sunday?
