Our kids have been absolutely superb on the run to the final. Dominant against almost every opponent. I know we are glowing in the Chelsea win but started a little thread for anyone who wants to talk about this. Will have a match thread also. Should be an excellent game.
-
I’m looking forward to being there and seeing this.
My Liverpool mate says their U18s have a lot of injuries, so I guess he’s getting in the excuses early.
Come on you young lions!
-
Looking forward to this.
Symbolically huge for us.

And we're missing Jacob's brother Aaron Ramsey - who is probably up there with Chuk and Louie Barry in terms of potential (and March player of the month in the PL2). So don't let him pull that bullshit about missing players...
-
0-2.
-
I am going to this tomorrow. Is this the first leg or this is one match only final?
-
Just the one match
-
How can we watch? Will it be on YouTube?
-
It's on BT Sport. Not sure if it's being shown elsewhere. Doesn't look like VillaTV is showing it.
-
Cheers, looks like I'll have to find a body of water with surface water flowing within the bed and banks of a channel.
-
The Liverpool side looked good in the SF against Ipswich, but we must have a really good chance.
-
The bigger picture is how many of these will make it in the professional game.
The 1972 team which beat Liverpool most notably produced Brian Little and John Gidman. There was also Jake Findlay, Alan Little, Tony Betts, Bobby McDonald and Jimmy Brown.
Liverpool had Phil Thompson, and even Small Heath who we beat in the 4th round had some kid who managed to make a living from football.

How come we got to host it and not them/a neutral venue?
-
How come we got to host it and not them/a neutral venue?
We own football (c Small Heath).
-
Luck of the draw. As it's only one leg in both the semis and final, they 'drew' the final at the same time as the semis. Our semi came out of the bag first. Whoever won it would be the home team for the final. Go us!
-
Spawny vile bastards... (c) SHA.
-
Yes!
-
i’m going with two of my younger kids
Never seen us win the FA Cup so it will be a first for me if we can do it
-
I have watched every game on Villa TV and they have been awesome. Jaw droppingly good at times. Being able to see them at VP tonight has taken most of the pain away of not being there yesterday - (the 1st time in 30 years that Villa have played at home with a crowd but without me!). Come on me babbies!
-
Good luck to the Villa youth team. It would finish the season off nicely to win this. UTV!

is the trophy the same or similar. Thing of beauty the FA cup.
-
Any Oz based Villans ITK of how we can watch it here. It’s not on Optus Sport that I can see, or Kayo sports?
-
I'm really looking forward to watching this game. I have only seen highlights of previous matches but a lot of these youngsters look very good prospects. Exciting times ahead.

I presume with your expectation levels nothing less than a win by three clear goals will be acceptable? :D
-
Looks like we're going top get wet, but who cares? Back at the cathedral of football and I can't wait.

It does tend to have most games and it's generally really good quality too

hat trick from Barry at least

Hesgoal yes hesgoal is good , got it in Smart TV , input it on internet, what I do is get it on on wi fi on a old phone and cast to TV, same with one called LIVE NET, need to choose correct live net site
-
Good luck lads! XXX ❤
Hope it won't be too wet later for anyone who's going!

What are are these people is it under 18 under 21 or under 23 cup final ?

What are are these people is it under 18 under 21 or under 23 cup final ?
It's the U18 Cup Final.
-

It's the U18 Cup Final.
Thanks! Ok interesting I can't think anyone has better players at this age than villa currently so this is a win right ? Even more sweet hammering Liverpool again.
Future looks good and certainly sustainable on what we know of our talents.

I'd say us and Liverpool are the 2 best sides at this age and both deserve to be in the final. Our U18s haven't done all that well in their league but that's because half of the eligible squad have been playing in the U23 team and holding their own.
-
Liverpool fans I've spoken to seem very confident. Or didn't know the game was on!!
-
Looking forwards to this, got the email from villa about tickets but wasn’t quick enough off the mark, BT it is, come on the lads
-

Get into them boys. Let's bring this FA Cup home
-
Near Villa park now. Excited about watching kids tonight whatever the result. Hoping to spot a potential Brian or Jack.
-
Aaron Ramsey on the bench - interesting.
-
Ramsey on the bench a surprise, thought his injury was season-ending. They must think he’s capable of a reasonable cameo to put him on the bench? He’s the captain normally, right?
-
is there a 3rd Ramsey?
-
is there a 3rd Ramsey?
Yep, he's about 14 I think.
Great to see Aaron on the bench, it sounded like his injury was much worse so it'd be great for him to get a run in the final.

Cole Ramsey.
And all from Barr Beacon my old school I think

Can't seem to find a link on there that works. If anyone finds a s****m can they pls dm me? Thanks

A bit of a tear in the eye as the National Anthem was played
-
Come on Villa!
-
Interesting the Chrisene is on the right wing, I'm sure he's played left-back every other time I've seen him.
-
Yeeeessss
-
What a superb goal
-
Get in!!
-
Fabulous goal!!
-
Interesting the Chrisene is on the right wing, I'm sure he's played left-back every other time I've seen him.
and there's the answer to why he's playing there I guess, fantastic finish.
-
Super strike
-
What a lovely goal.
-
Quality. Top goal.
Let’s really batter these.
-
Strike
-
Absolutely brilliant I’m in Senegal for a few days and it’s live on TV out here, I’m over the bloody moon
-
We are playing some superb stuff
-
I like Brad Young, he's like a baby Watkins, just never stops running.
-
They're playing some lovely stuff here.
-
Penalty
-
what was that from chuck amazing feet and now a pen
-
Chuck is just a man against boys
-
PENALTY VILLA
-
Come on me babbies!
-
Penalty!
-
They're playing some lovely stuff here.
We’re
-
We are looking very good (so far)
-
GET IN 2-0
-
Fantastic stuff
-
what was that from chuck amazing feet and now a pen
Fucking brilliant, left 4 players chasing shadows.
-
Any links?
-
What a pen, incredible confidence.
-
This lot would easily beat the Blues 1st team.
-
Absolutely brilliant I’m in Senegal for a few days and it’s live on TV out here, I’m over the bloody moon
Senegal! FFS...that beats Olof's Beard driving through remote Cuba, getting lost down some dirt-path and finding a taberna with a Villa flag flying from the outside!
-
Absolute shithousery from Young - in a fucking cup final!!
-
We are superb. What a time to be a fan!
-
Why didn't Barry take that penalty?
-
Lovely stuff.
-
Come on Villa, great start but let’s not let up against these hub cap thieving, bin dipping, scallys.
Ronny Rosenthal there with the miss.
-
Any links?
Google Hesgoal, decent stream.
-
Absolute shithousery from Young - in a fucking cup final!!
Ashley diving again? Was winning Serie A with Inter last time I heard.
-
Fucking hell Brad Young is playing superbly. Doesn’t get spoken about enough this kid
-
some lovely skill from young
-
What a run by Young.
-
The first goal...
https://mobile.twitter.com/AVFCOfficial/status/1396904010209243140L
-
So is Brad Young one to watch then? Looks arrogant and cheeky in a good way. Lots of flair.
-
These youngsters are playing some cracking football
-
We are fucking all over this lot.
-
Balagizi looks decent for them.
-
Fuck off the post from Chrisene
-
This is fucking beautiful. Technically and movement miles ahead of them.
-
They're slapping their claret and blue cocks all over them.
-
The third is minutes away.
Is it too early to ask why Barry didn’t take the penalty?
-
There is some real talent in these kids. A joy to watch
-
Another filthy turn from Chuk in the box, he's head and shoulders above anyone in their team.
-
The third is minutes away.
Is it too early to ask why Barry didn’t take the penalty?
Too late. Someone asked already.
Who did take it by the way? I’m recording it but I can’t wait.
-
I'm excited.
-
From RAWK (who are rather impressed with our lads).
"I don’t wish to be unkind to our lads but this is like watching Barcelona circa 2009 against Elche". ;D
-
Do you ever see Louie Barry and Jack Grealish in the same room? Bloody clone of one another playing wise. Chuckwuemeka and Raikhy are wonderful players too.
-
Wonderful to watch these lads.
-
The quality is obscene.
-
Liverpools pants pulled down. Again.
-
Raikhys passing is excellent. Im liking Seb Revan at LB too.
-
NSWE have only been here for three years, but you can see the rewards of their investment in the whole club tonight.
-
If some of these lads can fulfil their potential they will save us and make us absolutely millions
-
I honestly think 6-7 of this team could make it at premier league level, the quality and work rate is all there, just need to manage their transition to senior football well. I suspect there's a lot of L1 and championship clubs already sending over loan offers for them.
-
This is a really enjoyable watch so far. Playing some brilliant football.
-
Chucky has already got that ability to drop out of the game for a minute or two and then come alive when the ball finds him. He doesn’t need to be all action all the time.
-
A good youth intake will maybe net you two first team players, you can honestly see five or six of this lot making it, at least.
-
Nice shot by HKK.
-
You know that feeling we had when we were in ever decline and it felt like a cancer ran through our club. This is the complete opposite.
The ethos off the pitch to be classy and professional is matched by the quality on it from youth to first team.
Some of these kids are tremendous
It really is an exciting time for us villa fans
-
Carney is such a talent
-
Chukwuekmka should be banned from playing at this level.
-

You’re there all the time Hookey. How much of that is Purslow? He is the representation of the owners day to day, but he comes across as someone who is very specific in what he wants.
-
can we stop feeling sorry for them and giving it them
from the back
-
Carney is head and shoulders above the other lads on the pitch.
-
Chukwuekmka should be banned from playing at this level.
It does feeling cheating, this is what Rooney looked like in the final we won at the start of century.
-

Very similar to the way Messi plays.
-
We are definitely trying to give them a goal.
-
The only gripe so far is the odd wayward pass at the back
-
Our keeper needs to cut out the eye of a needle pass.
-
Another fabulous move.
-
The first goal
https://twitter.com/villaviews_/status/1396903052469276672?s=21
I’m watching the game here. It’s an Arabic mind you

-
Chukwuekmka should be banned from playing at this level.

The Moore brothers vs Rooney, didn’t end well in the end.
-
With these, I don’t think we need to go buying more strikers or playmakers.
I would break the bank and buy the world’s best crunching hard tackling defensive midfielder /sweeper. Who would that be?
-
Young needs to be less greedy, we should be out of sight.
Need the next goal.
-
A few silly mistakes, we need to cut out, otherwise superb stuff, come on Villa.
-
Chucky is facsimile of Pogba (just had a bit of sick in my throat as I hate the twat) and Viera.
He just oozes class and literally glides around the pitch
-
Cut out the dodgy play from the back and let the midfield do their thing.
-
Don't think I've been more excited with a Villa youth team than this one.Scintillating football.Oh,and in comparison mode,Chucky is Socrates incarnate.
-
Feckin brilliant.
The futures bright, the futures Villa. :)
-
Certainly some very classy performances so far.
Some sensational play at times but need to be careful not to gift Liverpool a route back into the game.
-
Not a big fan of fancy penalties but my god, that was art.
-
They’ve started well. We need to be careful we don’t concede a daft goal
-
More energy from Liverpool to start this half.
Mustn't get overconfident.
One thing I noticed from the semi-final, he Villa kids are very fit with good stamina, which might be crucial in the last quarter of the game.
-
They have started well but we're still creating chances very easily and I suspect we've got a lot more gears we can go up than they have.
-
Come on the youngsters
-
Absolutely brilliant run from Young for that last chance.
-
Young's running off the ball is superb.
-
Too many replays meaning we miss some of the action
-
Great tackle by Kesler.
-
This is wonderful stuff!
-
Their number 5 has kept them in the game, easily their best player.
-
What skill by Chukwuemeka.
-
Chuk is unbelievable.
-
We tend to over-elaborate and fail on the final pass/shot. A bit Arsenal. Sexy but not ruthless.
-
Chuks is on another level. What a player.
-
Ramsey is on now and will show them how to finish.
-
We could be up by 6 or 7. Stupid thought by me however. Nobody puts 7 past Liverpool.
-
Need to close them down a bit quicker
-
Barry is like Albrighton with afterburners.
-
Swinkels is frustrating me, first half he was excellent, this half he's struggling to make a pass and has been turned too easily a couple of times.
-
Nice to hear neutral commentary understanding they’re just boys.
-
Oooooohh Brad Young close again
-
Young looks like a promising striker.
Some real talents on show
-
Oh dear
-
Come on lads, need to get in our groove now
-
booooo
-
Oh dear what?
-
2-1
-
Bugger. Could see it coming though.
-
Needed that third.
-
We’ve seen this movie before haven’t we. We should be up by 10 and it’s now 2-1 and a very nervous last 15 or so
-
Bugger. Come on you Villa boys.
-
Oh dear what?
Goal for Liverpool
-
Ta.
-
Ray Kennedy no one picking him up.
-
We need to believe again we are the much better team because we are. We should be out of sight. Stop giving them the ball.
-
Ta.
Didn't realise my stream was so far ahead of some others. Will be clearer next time I comment on play!
-
Good to know the Villa tradition of a nervy last 10 minutes will be kept alive by the next generation...
-
Barry a bit too greedy there. We should be out of sight here.
-
That 3rd goal just won't go in
-
Barry should have squared that.
-
Ta.
Didn't realise my stream was so far ahead of some others. Will be clearer next time I comment on play!
No worries mate, I assumed the worst!
-
The 3rd won’t go in.
-
The not learning from past mistakes and half arsed gene seems to run deep at Villa! We need to be much more ruthless.
-
We’re starting to overthink things. It’s a sign of frustration
-
I like Sylla who's come on, reads the game really well from the games I've seen.
-
Bloody hell not Yacouba.
-
I like Sylla who's come on, reads the game really well from the games I've seen.
Isn't he way too old?
-
I like Sylla who's come on, reads the game really well from the games I've seen.
Isn't he way too old?
Mo Sylla, not Yacouba, this one actually has a decent first touch!
-
Got to get our composure back
-
Panic. Just like the seniors.
-
How long left?
-
Here 86th min now
-
Ta.
-
Come on villa, a final push now
-
Clearly the better team, but Liverpool caught up in second half, and we wasted many chances, which is probably why we are nervy
-
The kids are just trying to emulate the pros yesterday by winning 2-1 late on and making the fans shit it until the final whistle
-
The commentators can't WAIT for Liverpool to equalise!
-
Fucking hell they are knocking on the door
-
Into 3 mins stoppage time
-
And do they play six minutes injury time as standard at this level?
-
What’s the kid doing shooting from there? I mean good for us
-
Is it 3 or 6?
-
3 mate
-
And do they play six minutes injury time as standard at this level?
Just the 3 on the board
-
Phew, ta. Kippaxvilla trying to give me a heart attack.
-
Fuck we should have wrapped it up there
-
FT
-
Get in brilliant lads!!
-
Yes! Get in lads!
-
Gedin.
-
well done the boys !!
-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FA YOUTH CUP WINNERS!!!!!!!!
WELL DONE THE KIDS!!!
-
Magic. Well done lads, very proud. 🙂
-
Bit of shithousing from Brad Young at the end, I really like him, proper spiky little nuisance.
-
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
-
Fair play to the Liverpool youngsters for making a game of it in the second half
-
Great result.
-
Excellent! And great for the future.
-
Brilliant. The kids look scarily good.
-
I know I should know this, but what are they singing after the words Sweet Caroline?
-
Listening to some twat on stream, what a prat, give the impression Liverpool were always in it,
-
Fcuk the Blues which is a bit small time.
-
This youth team deserve that for the season they have had.
-
Brilliant! I was getting tense refreshing the thread updates on my phone!
-
I know I should know this, but what are they singing after the words Sweet Caroline?
Usually Uh uh oh!
-
Fcuk the Blues which is a bit small time.
Oh. Thanks - as you say, small time
-
Great stuff lads, we've won the cup, haven't said that recently.
-
The Kids are alright.
-
I know I should know this, but what are they singing after the words Sweet Caroline?
Usually Uh uh oh!
That's what I thought it ought to be but I could see and hear they were singing something else
-
Fantastic to see a Villa team dancing in a huddle on the pitch. Just brilliant
-
Should've been more convincing - but it's a results business!
A great group of players some of who will grace our first team for years to come. Best of all, its another example of how the club has rediscovered its soul in just a few years.
-
Fcuk the Blues which is a bit small time.
A bit?
-
Keeper did ok there at the end, dealt very well with a succession of Liverpool corners.
The defence held up when required after the midfield and forwards having done the job in the first half.
A complete all-round team performance.
-
8)
The future looks bright.
-
I can confirm that John Terry is not on the pitch in full kit.
-
Brilliant. We have some immense talent coming through, and this really isn'y hyperbole, some of these kids are fucking superb.
-
What a team of players we have here. Just need to be a bit more clinical with converting chances but that was a wonderful game to watch.
The future is bright.
-
It should have been 4 or 5-1.
-
Win the cup final and rush off to get their phones from the changing room
-
Our club is on the up in every way and it’s bloody brilliant.
-
Well done young men. Go have fun!
-
Great stuff lads, we've won the cup, haven't said that recently.
Can't believe people have forgotten Guzan and Del Piero in the Peace Cup so easily.
-
This is a very exciting bunch of very technically gifted young players who are all learning to play football in such a fluent and entertaining way. The future should be very bright and I can see quite a few actually making it with our own first team.
-
FA Cup Winners not FA Cup Champions ffs.
-
Ha ha. Commentator said we staggered over the line on my stream lol!!!
-
Youth youth youth!!!
-
Fucking ace lads, great display we were much superior team, should of won by a lot more. And always good to beat them twats at any level and piss off their friends in the media.
-
Well done the kids. Hopefully a couple of them become first teamers.
-
Brilliant stuff.
-
Fantastic. Bit nervy at the end mind.
-

Have you forgotten this beauty
-
Im convinced a few of those are going to go on and have big futures, hopefully with us.
-
Well done Villa!
-
Congrats to the young lads even if they made it it a little more nervy than they needed to. That's the 25 year trophy drought over. :)
Thanks also to Toronto Villa for the Twitter updates, very helpful!
-
Great result Villa boys! Well deserved!
-
Should have been more convincing but they did the most important thing - Win
-
On RAWK they felt we deserved it (even if there was a bit of moaning about the biased ref) and this made me smile, "I've seen enough of us in that kit at their place this season".
-
Brilliant win for the lads and well deserved, some top performances from some of them and deserved to win by more. Kane Kessler was my man of the match.
-
Tonnes of talent in our youth department as well.
Well done lads. Fantastic win.
-
I'm so pleased we have won the FA Youth Cup they have deserved it well done lads.
-
Thought they looked very comfortable against Liverpool up until the final stages when they tired slightly.
-
Good to see Kevin Betsy.
-
I think we will see some more of them in the first team next season.
-
A joyful evening, only made tense by the ease at which we won that first half. It would have been absolutely criminal for Villa not to have won that in normal time.
Great lads, but shout out for Brad Young for the most teenaged Brummie interview I've ever heard.
-
With Kesler and Barry, Carney Chukwuemeka, they're the boys that's gonna do us proud.
-
Could and should have been more comfortable .
Brilliant win. And wonderful to see such support and the players battle through.
Some real quality already showing
Well played. To those who went
And Up The Villa.
-
A few things....
First, big respect to Liverpool boys playing a final in a partisan atmosphere. It can’t have been easy.
Well done to to the Liverpool number 4 walking round the pitch pulling his teammates onto their feet after the final whistle. Leadership.
Villa? Well...some of the attacking was sublime. The defending as resolute as the first team. When they clicked they flowed quite beautifully. I’m very excited. We deserved to win.
We thought it was hilarious that some ran off to get their phones to record it. It’s 2021. They’re kids. Marvellous.
Arian speaks as well, if not better, as a professional when interviewed.
Young could turn into a “big unit”. Hopefully.
-
Congrats to the young lads even if they made it it a little more nervy than they needed to. That's the 25 year trophy drought over. :)
Thanks also to Toronto Villa for the Twitter updates, very helpful!
Absolutely brilliant, there’s going to be some really good players coming from this side.
Also have to thank Toronto for the Twitter link to the Arabic commentary which was interesting in itself as they never once stopped talking.
-
Well done Aston Villa Youth. A richly deserved victory and a moment of great pride for the club. Thank you gentlemen!
-
Absolutely brilliant! Well done to the lads! Very proud indeed.
-
Only the second non-Scab Six team to win the competition in the last 16 years (other was Norwich in 2013) and we're now 4th in the all-time winners table.
-
Jedinak was at the game tonight assessing which of these lads might go out on loan next season. His primary role will be in development of the kids outside of the club.
-
With Kesler and Barry, Carney Chukwuemeka, they're the boys that's gonna do us proud.
Love that about time It was updated!
Brilliant night for our youth team and the opposition should not be underestimated. A statement win well done lads UTV
-
Well done boys.
-
Win the cup final and rush off to get their phones from the changing room
Kdz ;D
-
Just watched it again, Brad Young is going to be a superb striker, he has it all, pace, strength, first touch, great feet (for a big man!), a seriously brilliant player.
-
It'd be great to see Arjan Raikhy swaggering around villa park for the first team, I thought he stood out, he looks a properly cultured player.
Brad Young also looks like he could become an absolute beast.
What a great unexpected bonus the kids have been - scaring the shit out of Liverpool's grown ups in the big cup then winning this.
Brilliant.
-
Just watched it again, Brad Young is going to be a superb striker, he has it all, pace, strength, first touch, great feet (for a big man!), a seriously brilliant player.
He's even started covering himself in tattoos, he's that much in the premier League groove.
-

He’s 5’8. Unless you’ve seen the future and he adds another 5 inches. What he has got is that very gritty determination. Chases seemingly lost causes. You either have that or you don’t and when you have the number 1 striker at the club one of the very best at never giving up on causes then it’s going to have a very positive impact on the younger kids.

I only saw the first half, as I had screaming children to deal with, so I'm bemused how it ended so close. Genuinely felt it was going to be 4 or 5. Did Liverpool improve, or did we tire (as you'd expect youngsters to)?
Either way, what a brilliant way to end the season. Some of the football in the first half was absolutely first class, and we could genuinely see four or five of this lot in our first team over the next few years.
Wouldn't it be nice in thirty years time to be watching a documentary about the Class of '21?
-
Congrats to the young lads even if they made it it a little more nervy than they needed to. That's the 25 year trophy drought over. :)
Thanks also to Toronto Villa for the Twitter updates, very helpful!
We won it in 2002....

Yeh no problem BV. My pleasure.
And that’s a wrap for Villa match threads for me for another season. It’s been fun overall and a great last week to end it all. Because in years past it has been horrific a lot of the time.
-
Just watched it again, Brad Young is going to be a superb striker, he has it all, pace, strength, first touch, great feet (for a big man!), a seriously brilliant player.
My take on it tonight was that the number 9 is not a big lad but a very disruptive player ...for the opposition.
-
Once that number 11 improves his decision making he will be a devastating player. ;)

We've got talent and a great future running right the way through this club. Well done lads!!!!!
-
That was so enjoyable last night. Firstly, it was great just be back and around the place.
The game itself was pure football.
No cheating, diving, screaming, rolling around, game management. It was football without all the cynical shit that drives me mad.
Beautiful to watch. We’ve got some real stars in that team and we said afterwards we were struggling to name a stand out MOTM as they all played so well.
Brad Young looks like he’ll be a real handful, a real pain in the arse for defenders!
That was a lovely way to sign the season off and I’m just hopeful there will be a lot more of us there come August time.
-
Well done the Villa Youth! - hopefully a couple of these will make it to our 1st team and the rest will have good careers within the football pyramid.
-
Brilliant game. Some real quality on show.
Is Arron Ramsey usually the captain? Noticed that it was him that lifted the trophy, not Kesler, who was captain on the night
Thought the keeper, Marschall, looked pretty safe, but, flippin heck, he was picking some passes 😂
-
Was great to watch. I couldn't believe my luck that it was on live over here in NZ.
Excellent performance and even though the score looked close, the Villa kids should have won by a great deal more.
They are a special bunch of youngsters.
-
Loserpool? For the First XI and Bingo no problem. But their youth team? Come on !
That said well done you Villa babbies. FTF!
-
Aaron Ramsey looked really good when he came on, and I thought Lindlay, Raikhy and Sylla all looked pretty useful. Both fullbacks played well; all fantastic for the future.
-
Was great to watch the Villa babbies play - first time I've done that since probably the mid-late 90s*. Thanks to whoever posted the Arabic twitter feed link.
Very, very exciting young team there. Chucky seemed to be involved in *everything*, thought Kessler looked really good too. Don't think Louie Barry is quite ready for the first team yet, but my word - what a player he looks like he'll turn out to be. Thought the striker, Young, looked like he'd be a right pain in the arse to play against.
* edit: well, the FA Cup match in January too, I guess ...
-
Jedinak was at the game tonight assessing which of these lads might go out on loan next season. His primary role will be in development of the kids outside of the club.
Is Jedinak now employed by the club? If so I've missed it being announced. I've been wondering what had become of him.
-
Enjoyed it last night. I was surprised how much noise 4,500 could make and it must have been a great experience for the lads.
The first half was outstanding, albeit occaisonally a bit sloppy at the back. It felt like we were going to blow them away but Liverpool did come back into it, particularly in the second half We tried to kill the game a bit but still had loads of chances.
Difficult to pick out outstanding players as they all contributed and were incredibly comfortable on the ball.
I was really impressed with both fullbacks, Kesler particulalry in the first half showed some great skill. Revan was one of the main outlets in the second half and was really composed in posession. I think with our excellent current first team fullbacks and these two coming through we're well set for the future.
Brad Young was tireless and a better player than I realised. No idea if he will make it but it won't be for want of effort. Raiky and Chuk are just so powerful they made everything look easy.
Barry strolls round with a swagger and just when you think he's too knackered, he off again driving into the box and causing problems. I don't feel he's ready for the first team squad yet though.
Keeper did well, some decent saves and mostly clever distribution, perfectly comfortable receiving the ball at feet under pressure. Comfortably caught a few crosses from corners too - although may find that tougher against a team whos players actually jump.
Overall an excellent night and well worth £7.50.
-
Win the cup final and rush off to get their phones from the changing room
I couldn't believe that - it's all on telly FFS! Kids eh?

Yep a few weeks ago. He's our new Loan Player Development Coach.

We won it in 2002....
Just had a look at the team of 2002. We had Whitts (rip) Ridge, Moore L and Steven Davis break through from that side. You’d maybe expect a higher number from the 2021 crop to make it, all things going well. Probably half a dozen at least to properly kick on hopefully.
-

Whilst normally I agree with you, all of them who play there are tainted by Bingo's "concern" for our players and kids in the FA Cup AND the ESL crapness.
-
With Kesler and Barry, Carney Chukwuemeka, they're the boys that's gonna do us proud.
Applause
-
One thing I like is that there is continuity with how the first team play. Keeper looks to play it out from the back, full backs bomb on with defensive midfielder slotting in to cover, high press, lone striker constantly hassling the opposition back line. Even down to the individuals, Bogarde reminds me of Konsa, Barry/Grealish etc.
If anything they play a more advanced version of what the first team are trying to do. Always looking for short corners and free kicks, switching positions. It's (dare I say it) a bit like Barcelona at their peak a few years ago in terms of style.
All this means that if/when they are ready, they can slot into the first team system more easily. It feels like we actually have a plan these days, which is very refreshing. In Sean Verity's post match interview he mentioned how different the atmosphere is at the club now, how engaged the owners and CEO are and said 'this club is going places.' It's hard not to be excited right now.

Did anyone else hear that little lad in the Lower Holte last night. Sang his songs from beginning to end, often on his own. Outstanding effort.
I went for a wee at half time and I could still hear him from the concourse!
-
I loved it....a great end to a Aston Villa season.
I thought the season would just peiter out over the last couple of games, so two wins vs those ESL wankers and a cup for the Villa Youth was lovely.

He was stood not far from us. As an old grumpy git I love to see that sort of enthusiasm from kids. My throat is sore this morning though, but it felt good to be back. How did it come across on TV?
-

Really well. At first I thought they were piping it in, it sounded so full. Well done!
-
Thought it would sound louder after the seniors game barely 24 hrs beforehand, but I guess there were less than half the amount of people in the ground.
-
Loserpool? For the First XI and Bingo no problem. But their youth team? Come on !
Yes it's an embarrassing title. I wouldn't like Liverpool boys to look at this.

The difference is that Liverpool don't need a youth team. They buy by their name and reputation as one of the best European sides. We on the other hand need to rely on sources much closer to home

Couple of things eamonn. I twas a very friendly atmosphere missing the hatred we have stored up for Chelsea etc. Secondly Villa fans were being very fair to the Liverpool lads. And we were really dominate, much much better team. Just wasteful otherwise it would have been a bigger loss for them. So all of this plus half of Sunday crowd impacted on noise level.

What has that got to do with the thread title?

What nonsense, they have consistently had one of the best academies in the Country for as far back as I can remember. Gerrard, Owen, Fowler, Carragher, McManaman, Metteo, Sterling, Coady, Alexander-Arnold.
Even after those listed they have still produced various others that have had decent careers and that they sold on for big profits such as Ibe, Kelly, Ince, Wilson, Nugent, Wisdom, Guthrie, Thompson.
-
Amazed we won when according to the thieving scallies obsessed commentary in the second half our plucky boys were totally overwhelmed by the unemployed.
Why not stereotype when you can 😇
-
If anybody thinks they fancy a watch of it again, it's on BT Sport 3 in half an hour, and on BT Sport 2 at 8 this evening.

That's what I mean. OK, these young lads have signed on at Liverpool but they are kids and are not responsible for the actions of their club and first team manager. It's a small point but we like to think we have class at the Villa. We are not showing any here.
-

Thanks Drummond, as I said, completely missed that bit of news.

Only just spotted the thread title so I’ve changed it.

The commentators mentioned a couple of times that Liverpool were missing a key striker but never mentioned that we've missed Ruben Shakpoke all season.

Glad you enjoyed the games, some of us will have to wait till next season. Found out last night that Russell made it back from Cayman for the 2 games, he has a very understanding wife. :)

Good. Agreed. Not sure who changed it initially but thanks also.

Not sure if this has occurred to anyone else but 10 years after the last time we beat Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup final we were European Champions. Nice thought but...

I like that. 🙂

Russell will remain a legend in my eyes forever after the Sao Paulo episode ;D

I-am--NOT--waiting= TEN -years.

A great night -and weekend; we really look like we're building something.
I couldn't believe that Brad Young didn't get MoM. He was a nuisance all night, could have had a hat-trick with any luck, and ran the channels all night - a teenage Ollie Watkins! Not a bad way to save yourself £30m, just grow your own.
If I was Timo Werner, I'd get on the blower to Brad and ask him how come it took a full hour before BY was blown up for offside -what's the secret, sonny?
The only two things I have against Brad is that it appears he may have a short fuse -opponents may try to take advantage of that in future. Secondly, I hate his penalty technique, but he should worry!!
-
I've seen Brad Young play three times this year and likened him to Jamie Vardy. He runs as hard in the third minute as the 83rd. He has an 'edge' to him as and a reputation as a bit of a bad lad as well. Will he make the first team? ...time will tell.
-
Hi,Rott.
Your Jamie Vardy comparison is a good one, in that neither gives defenders any peace. I'm not sure Brad is as quick as JV, but he's not slow and works incredibly hard.
They said on BT Sport that Albion had him on their books but then released him. I wonder if that was with our 'persuasion' or was it that they just didn't rate him?
-
I think he left under a cloud when he was about 12. I don’t think he can give the reason why...the irony is he was released by Mark Harrison...
-
Presumably, you mean Agent Harrison!!
-
Great to see none of the players singing along to the national anthem; I'm sure the anti-anti-racists will be delighted to see a non-response to such a blatant attempt to introduce politics into our pure sport...
