If El Ghazi can play closer to Davis he'll get plenty of shooting opportunities tonight as Davis is brilliant at holding the ball up and laying it off. If he plays as normal out wide with Traore on the other wing Davis will starve of decent service.

Yep. Very unfortunate that it didn’t work out after the very serious injury. But if he ends up at Man U or Man City or somewhere like that then he’ll play on more games than he will for us. Makes sense all round. And quite honestly Jed Steer is as good a back up as you will find on the PL.

Yep, build up to an 8 o’clock kick off starting at 5, with an inconvenient break at 6 for some other shit to take place.

Very happy to see Jed back around. Feel like he got a bit of a raw deal by not getting a chance in the prem, given how critical he was to getting promoted.

Great to see the skipper back, but changes from the Goodison Park match is obviously we lose Ollie and Everton have Doucoure and Keane back in their line up, which is gonna make today's encounter a lot tougher, well until Jack makes his appearance from the bench of course. Going Villa win.

Their only game plan seems to be 7 players in defence and then hanging up crosses for DCL on the counter.

This has been pretty decent so far. After less than two years back we are competitive vs Everton, Arsenal and a number of sides who operate in the top half. Of course we’ve lost stupid games which is why we are where we are. This summer is the chance to catch up properly and move ahead of we do it right.

That corner aside, Everton look very solid, two banks of 4, covering the full width of the pitch. Sitting quite deep - leaving little space for us to play through.

When their attacks break down we need to get the ball up front more quickly  before their defence has time to re-set.

Barkley has found himself in so many good positions, and messed up pretty much every single one. I can't decide without looking back if this means Everton are too open and the game is there for the taking if we swap him out, or if he's actually doing well to get into the positions in the first place and just fucking up the execution.

Overall a good half for me that.

I just think we're so much better than Everton in terms of working the ball around the pitch but then you look at the league table and they're still well clear of us so dunno but guess they've got more resilience?

Kept their tricky forward players very quiet yet again and generally dominated, think McGinn has been excellent in all areas so he's warming up nicely for the euros.

Not a great half from Davis, we certainly need a new forward in the summer just in case we lose Ollie for a few months next season. He has the right idea but rushes things and his general passing simply isn't that good. Traore back to his random self aswell.

AEM aswell for games v Spurs and Chelsea...yikes.

Jack coming through this unscathed is a win even if we end up with only a point. It's been an ok performance but no teeth at all up front.

Is it just me or did we get to 91 minutes before a mention of the top flight's most played fixture?

Should only be about a minute left, the ball went out on 92. Guarantee they will play on for at least long enough for Everton to have two minutes against ten men.

I presume the game coming up next will be interspersed by cut aways to the Villa and Everton teams showering, getting dressed and of their journeys home.
