Sunday 9th May, 14:05pm KO.
Thought I'd get it started early.
FTF 8)
-
Smirk, are you thinking Manure will win this one, as no poll attached??
-
Do we have to?
A great win and we get them next, the annual cursed fixture of the year.
-
I could think of a few better names for Glazers Man United
-
3-0 home win. FTP
-
Smirk, are you thinking Manure will win this one, as no poll attached??
I don't know how to add a poll ;D
Don't the mods usually do it?
-
Hey Rookie - get a poll added
-
I hate this lot with a passion, the despicable scum. The usual result no doubt and just after we've had a good performance.
At least we won't have to endure the plastic pillock fans at Villa Park. Oh no, wait.....
-
Fuck them and their self entitled fans.
-
1-0 win. El Ghazi pen.
-
1-0 a penalty, when it was clear that it was Ollie who chopped McGuire in half
-
It’s time
-
1-0 win. El Ghazi pen.
In the 98th minute, please.
-
We live in strange times, and slowly but surely sequences are being broken.
Without a Red ref:
1-0
With a helping hand for Newton Heath:
1-2
-
They always get a helping hand against us.
-
For once, just smash the plastic cünts!
A bad hamstring injury to Bruno Fernandes as he takes his wanky run-up to their inevitable penalty would be the icing on the cake.
-
15-0 to us.
Man Utd fans to throw their children and inter-city rail tickets on the pitch in protest against the fact they're not as good as they used to be.
-
I wonder who will earn their dodgy penalty this time?
-
I wonder who will earn their dodgy penalty this time?
Whoever screams the loudest I guess. My money would be on Fernandes again. The last two they’ve been given were for stamping on a Villa player and screaming, and the other for tripping yourself up.
Maybe instead of the “Guess the goal” minute, we could have “Guess the Man Utd penalty” minute for this game. We know it’s going to happen.
-
1.3 same old shite
-
Just win - 2-1 and for a change we will get a last minute penalty to win the game (I can hear their Manager, telling everyone who will listen that they never get the big decisions go for them)
I do know the Managers name but I hate everything about that club!
-
Whats 'funnier'?
Fernandes fouling Konsa, VAR confirming Fernandes fouling Konsa, penalty to Manchester United.
or
Pogba clearly seen berating Luke Shaw for not taking a dive in the box, 2 minutes later Pogba fouls himself, dives in the box. Penalty to Manchester Utd.
-
I was going to write, if Man City beat Chelsea on Saturday and wrap up the title, then Man Ure won't have anything to play for mathematically. This coupled with the Europa Leage away trip on Thurs might give us an edge.
But who am I kidding? We always play the name and not the team. They could field 11 supporters chosen at random and we'd still contrive to lose.
-
Every season under Smith we have finished the season strongly. That performance against Everton was good, we might just beat them this year. 2-1 Mings to blame for the goal, but also scores an equaliser and then an injury time winner from Davis.
-
I wonder who the referee is....
-
I'm at the stage with these muppets that they may as well take their customary penalty before the game starts (to get it out of the way-we all know it's coming). If they score it they can then add it on to their score in the game if the ref or var decide that they need it. At least this way the pretence of them being awarded a penalty in-game can be avoided.
-
2-1 Villa win.
-
0-2 to Newton Heath.
-
I wonder who the referee is....
Someone with a shirt wanting signing after the game
I hate these fuckers with a passion and every ill of the modern game can be placed at their door.
My old man always told me - United after 58 were everyones second team due to the terrible accident. Fergiscum took 20 years to be the most hated. The clubs arrogance is personified by their support. On all my travels i have never found one that you can have an open and honest football conversation with them and their modern fans (anyone under 40) know fuck all about history or any other team.
Anyone remember being at their shit hole when they sang en masse "You have never won the double" after they had recently won it, only to be corrected and laughed at by the villa fans.
Absolute bell ends to a man
Would love a storming 2-0
-
One nil up going into the 92nd minute and they get their obligatory penalty to equalise.

I was there, a favourite memory, we all sang ''yes we have'' as we laughed at them.
-
Us and Preston are the two clubs not in the Scummy 6 to have done it.
-
I find Chelsea fans far worse these days.
-
I wonder who the referee is....
Fernandes, I imagine.
-
Our record against this lot absolutely stinks. I was 25 the last time we beat them at home in the league. I'm feckin 51 now.
Can't see it changing on Sunday either.
0-2

Agreed but it didn't take Ferguson. Well before his era I remember my uncle throwing cushions around the front room in delight when Sunderland scored the winner in the '79 Cup Final.
I've 2 Manc friends in Rio who are Yanited fans and they still bang on about me cheering the Leverkusen goal that knocked them of the 2002 CL. Apparently I'm a bitter Irish/Villa cnut for not supporting the "English" team.
-

Dowd?

Same here. >:(
This fixture did give rise to my favourite ever quote on H&V when someone described it as being "like a version of WW2 where the Nazis always win".

When was that? I'm 32 and I only remember us beating them with Gabby's header.
The most despicable club and fans in the world.

1995 was the last home win. I was working in Barings in Dublin and went over for it. The plastic Yanited fans there were slagging us off the week before so I was rather smug on the following Monday. Little did I know 26 years on I'd still be waiting for the next victory.
-
1998 was last home win. Three-nil in the League Cup. The fact that they played the reserves/kids isn't our fault, it isn't like Liverpool where they had no choice.
-
My secondary school was probably 60% Man Utd fans, and I was there from 2000-2007. I don't really want to go into detail, but I remember lots of 2-3 losses. And they were the least gracious 'winners' (obviously they're not winners, because any ****** can choose who they support based on who is most successful) I've ever known.
It's fair to say that I absolutely fucking hate them.
-

Yeah, please not another game at Villa Park where they just turn up and get a routine win without us ever really troubling them.
-
Not that it's any of my business, but I would urge nobody to get their hopes up for this one.
-
Can somebody change the thread title, the Plastics aren't Man Utd, they're 'United'. Wouldn't want to offend the tossers.
-

It's the Man Utd game where I wish Japan wasn't so strict about drugs

Same with Mexico. They're merely decriminalised here, rather than freely available in the shop next door.
-
I witnessed one of those strange arguments on social media the other day that made me want both participants to lose but ended up feeling like the biggest loser of the lot after wasting time reading the whole thing.
It started because the girl in the argument referred to Man United as "Manure". I always thought that has just been a fairly juvenile way of calling them shit. Turns out that certain people may have used it as a Munich disaster reference? Particularly West Brom?! This point was backed up with some dreadful sources (mostly Man United fanzines) and none of them even gave an era when it was first used.
I genuinely had no knowledge of this whatsoever until the other day, was it more common decades ago or is it utter bollocks?
-
The proper die hards hate being called Man U which they see as a derogatory insult from - i think it was someone like Leeds. I used to work with a Crawley Red and it drove him nuts. It’s ironic as so many of their ‘fan base’ use it to describe themselves.

Never heard that.
What about Man Ushited as an alternative?
-
I call them Manure, but it has nothing to do with the Munich air crash.
Have been know to call them Man Urinal too
-

Which appellation is most agreeable to them? Yanited? Hardly uncommon, is it?
-
The Dalian memories are poignant at this time. Who is stepping up to get the goals? Hopefully a few will be putting their hands up for a chance in training this week. Do the big man proud. UTV.

United fans hate being called Man U more

I'm not going to bother watching*, this fixture's a statistical nonsense.
*probably will, hope I don't regret the wasted time.

That was the one i remember for:
He played Bosnich in goal and the Holte slaughtered him for 90 m in
Red faced cnut when asked about playing kids said "I expected my team to win" reason #234 to fucking hate them

I'm sure most of those were down to us not being able to hold out and conceding late, so they'd feel like defeats anyway.
-
We should be far fresher and go for them from the off.
3.1 us.
-
I call them Manure, but it has nothing to do with the Munich air crash.

I clearly remember a fabulous game back in 1976 where we got a 3-2 win with Andy Gray heading the winner at the Holte End. This was always my dads favourite fixture and I guess it’s mine too. Another 3-2 win for us with Watkins netting 2 and Konsa heading another. I’ve got a good feeling about this game

1 red and 59 yellows in 19 matches this season. So gets a game just over every other week.
-
Man Utd have to play 4 games in a week travel to Rome and play Thursday, travel back and then play Sunday-Villa. Then Tuesday, and Thursday so I think they'll be making some squad changes v Villa as they have Leicester 2 days after and Liverpool 2 days after on the Thursday and will rotate seeing Villa as the easier fixture.
This is the time to beat them !
I'm sure Dean will want a fast start
AEG and Watkins to net.
2-0 Villa
-
They are undefeated in their last 24 league games away from home. That stretches back to January last year.
It's about time someone reminded these plastic glory hunting self important self appointed big club super league applicant bastards that they are not automatically entitled to avoid defeat on the road and nothing would please us more than to send them back up the M6 with a flea in their ear and no points after their visit to the real home of English football.
COME ON YOU LIONS !
-
We'd best up security. I can see them trying to break in to Villa Park for another pitch invasion to postpone the match.

Born in Manchester? What could possibly go wrong.
-
We'll start well but fail to take chances, they'll get a goal on the break so we'll be a bit unlucky to be one down at half time. The 2nd half will be a bit of a no show, we'll huff and puff, they'll look a bit meh, then they'll get a soft penalty with 20 to go - 0-2. Its just what happens.

You'd be hard pressed to even make this up.
Odds on them getting 2 or more penalties have probs shortened.

It was Silhillvilla who used TTOD to describe the Man U stadium.
-
The big question are the diehard brummie reds going to allow this game to be played?
-
We can hope, we can pray, or we can start the Crystal Palace match thread early...
My bad (as the kids say)! Hadn't realised the Everton return fixture had been squeezed in beforehand.
The sentiment is the same though, sadly...
Re Potential Villa Park Invasion: would imagine West Midlands finest are working on it now with the club as I type.

I'd hope that any Brummie Reds protesting are met with the kind police violence I'd be moaning about in off topic were it dished out to anyone else.
-
I think they made their point at OT last weekend. Might do so again. They’d be daft trying anything at VP this weekend. Can’t be ruled out I suppose. Anything to get on the hallowed turf.

I use it in tribute to whoever it was.
SOH failure though
-
Have a horrible feeling we could take a right beating in this one. They struggle against teams who sit in deep with a low block. But that's not something we ever do. I'm expecting Watkins to cause a few problems but little else.

He's a Man City fan who upset the Plastics a few weeks back by disallowing a Cavani goal against Spurs. No doubt he'll be looking to make it up to them on Sunday.

We were doing it no problem start of the season, Leicester away was textbook example of how to play it.
We've actually played o.k v them with DS in charge. Had proper gos in both games at Old Trafford and we actually started the VP game end of last season o.k before the annual ridiculous penalty and then we gave up/conserved energy for Palace which was a clever decision in the long run.
I think if we score first we'll get a point. Don't really want to concede early v them. They weren't great v Leeds last time who held them to 0-0 comfortably.
-
It was a good performance against Everton last time out. Carry that forward and I have a good feeling about this one (buoyed up by getting into the ballot and going for a beer in 30 mins). We will win by 2 goals
-
Well let’s hope they have a rough journey and game in Rome.
With a game 4 games in a week it will be interesting to see how Gollum rotates his team.
-
Gollum? They sacked Moyes years ago!
-
Man Utd playing a strong lineup Vs Roma tonight I see, well then they will be rotating on Sunday !
-
Let's hope they leak goals against us as they did against Roma. Utv.
-
Cavani has been a great signing for them, lets hope he is rested
-
Ooh tar ooh tar to be a Wittoner !
-

We need to win this one, the finance director where I work is a Utd season ticket holder - he told me this week that he wished he was a Villa fan because then he would not be to upset when we lost, because it would be expected in a lot of the games during the season!!!
He said when you are a United fan the team are expected to win every game!

Well isn’t that the reason he supports them in the first place.

Probably a corporate type only got in to football August 1992.

I don't know about anyone else but I am really enjoying late season mid table boredom. Following Villa since 1977 has usually been a case of feast or famine and very rarely something in-between. I am experiencing a kind of zen calmness which I rarely associate with supporting 'The Villa' especially at this stage of the season.

Oh yes 1977, do you remember the chip shop opposite the Holte End on witton lane ?
-
Another defeat, another Fernandes penalty unfairly awarded, and my annual feelings of impotent rage. There is no point whatsoever watching it.
There is no other possible outcome, and wouldn't be even if they were bottom of the league.

Shops used to be on both corners of the junction of Holte Road and Witton Lane, now all replaced with relatively new houses. IIRC you could walk out the rear entrance of the Serpentine up Holte Road turn right onto Witton Lane straight into the chippy and have them eaten before going through the turnstiles.
This picture with tramlines is a little earlier than when I am talking about !

‘Lawro’ has predicted a defeat so he can f*** off. Mind you I say that every time I see or hear him which thankfully is becoming less frequent.
-
Given their fixture-congestion next week, can they do what we did in the FA Cup and field a bunch of 17 year olds?
-
First memory of playing these twats was LC Semi
A couple of good years in the seventies, but been routine Rogering for us in the last 15 years +
I despise these toss pots with a passion, despite having a couple of well knowledgeable old school mates who are misguided enough to support them
Someone earlier said Dean has played this fixture well without winning
I agree, Sunday is the day, fuck the fuckers and win.
-

Yeah, like they expected to beat Tottenham at home last October.
-
I like Deano's comments regarding penalties ahead of the game. Hopefully it plant's a seed in Kavanaghs head that these are cheating snides. Given he comes from G. Manchester and obviously doesn't support them, he ought to be acutely aware that these are a shower of twats.
It's happening, we're turning these fuckers over.

Stand by for the sycophantic Sky coverage, only one team to watch. I wish Sky would remember that these twunts were part of the firm that would have ended the football coverage contract for Sky had the ESL taken off. It hasn't taken them long to forget. Plastic fans, plastic owners, plastic baby faced manager. I fucking hate them. Slags.

I'm with you Ads, we are going to win this game.
Are we bollocks. If they play better than us, they'll beat us. If we play better than them, they'll cheat us.

Solskjaer:
Depends what team I put out in what games, one of them might not be happy because I play a full team maybe in one and next a different 11 in the other. Sunday at 2pm is not the problem. That was always scheduled. Tuesday and Thursday after Thursday-Sunday, that's a big problem.
There might be someone not happy with my team selection for one game or two games. That might affect whoever gets into the fourth position or the Champions League. That’s not my problem. That’s everyone else’s problem.
I cannot risk them, so it has to be rotation and it has to be a lot of rotation, a lot of decisions made on the day of the game. We cannot prepare and prep for the game, which every team does - get a week or two or 10 days or five days. This is someone else dealing hands.
I’ve got to think about my players but I know there will be teams fighting for the Champions League places that will think that's not Man United's best team in that team, that's not the best players.
I can promise you that it's impossible to play 90 minutes at this intensity, at that level in the Premier League four times from Thursday to Thursday. That means I cannot play everyone every minute which means we've got to prioritise.
I trust my players to get a result. Sunday is a big game for us. Of course, Sunday is a massive game and we're looking forward to it after the boost of getting into a final. This will hopefully give us energy and then let's see what we do Tuesday and Thursday. We just have to take it day by day.

He keeps moaning about fixture congestion. Clyde, and most Scottish lower league clubs, played Saturday-Tuesday-Thursday for a month while maintaining actual jobs. Sure his squad, which cost more than the American National Debt, can manage thtee games a week for one week.
In any case, the only person to blame for their fixture congestion is his greedy bastard owner and his mates at the other Scab Six clubs.

Footy why have you posted this shit on here?

Don't see anything wrong with posting quotes about the Man U potential team selection in a Villa v Man U pre-match thread tbh.
In any case, my prediction is they'll go for it against us and Liverpool and rest players against Leicester.

Funnily enough, I've seen quite a few Villa v Manure live games and never ween us lose to them. I just have a feeling we will finally beat these cheating twats.

Hope so, mate.

Article in the paper today about Line of Duty and Ian Buckells (H) being a "lifelong Aston Villa fan". Didn't really need "lifelong" in there did we? Suspect the Man U fans come in various categories of supporting them for the last 5/10/15 years, the platinum members being around from 1992.

Wasn't being totally serious but I just don't like him and his pretentious Fergie like commentary.

He's definitely a chip off the old block isn't he.

This is the one fixture I am happy to be unable to attend.
The worst fixture, year after year, for a number of different reasons.

This game. This ******* game. Anybody wants to compare our stats against these with every other team in the PL era (not that we were much better in the past), here you go
https://www.11v11.com/teams/manchester-united/tab/stats/
Tbh I'm surprised we've drawn almost a quarter of the games, doesn't feel like that.
I'm sure most of those were down to us not being able to hold out and conceding late, so they'd feel like defeats anyway.
We've rescued a point twice. Four goalless draws, six capitulations.
We had a run of three 0-0s in a row in mid 90s under SBL. Fergie proper hated our approach in our days as he knew we had a cracking team back to front (indeed he tipped us to challenge for the league for the season after we won league cup) so much better than some of his patronising comments after wins in the last decade he was there.
I always think that awful Sunday night game in the FA cup when they scored three times in last 15 minutes completely broke our spirit as a club v them as our record in the 90s wasn't that bad compared to most of the league (we had a worse record v Leicester in those times) and since then we just have no belief even if we're 2 up at home as we showed under Houllier and Lambert in future seasons.
One day it will change. I do think there's more belief in the team playing them nowadays but we just lack that bit of luck at crucial moments and heads then drop.
For example get back to 1-1 at Old Trafford and feels we're the team going to be on top for next 15 minutes and two minutes later Pogba completely manufactures a penalty so we're behind and chasing the game once more.

I think we’ll win tomorrow, law of averages and all that. Funny really really as I never really hated Man U growing up, it was Liverpool for me. Liked BFR and their Irish contingent, first game I ever went to was at old Trafford as well, 1982 game after Ron Saunders resigned, I was 8 and didn’t really understand this. Predictably we lost 4-1.
1 win in 44 league games as this lot though, it just has to happen and if we play like last week, why not now.
Classic 3-2 (Ollie, Konsa, McGinn)
-
Us 0 Them 3.
-
2-0 Villa. Watkins double
-
During matches, these feckers normally have the ability to 'step up a gear' against us. Usually due to a stronger bench. It always gives them the advantage.
'Ollie at the Wheel' will be rotating today and the use of his bench will be critical.
More critical for us is how Deano responds and also, how fast!!
In Deano, we trust. :)
-
At least we've got a decent striker in our side today. That gives us some hope.
Until the referee and VAR get involved - wankers
-
Probably the easiest fixture in world football to predict. Us to be leading 2-0 before losing 2-3 as has happened so many times before. Naturally, I hope I am wrong but for me it stinks of another one of these games.

Nice ranting Steve.
I really don’t want to watch this match, so hoping the rain stays away so me and the family can all get our. Not sure I can handle yet another suspect decisions against us or any more silly penalties for them.
-
If the turnstiles were open today, I'd have definitely been there.
The mix of sky, manure, biased pundits and commentary, dodgy refs and var is not a good mix for me, so I'll be following the game on the Villa App (if it decides to work properly for me today).
Let's do these esl pretenders! UTV!

The bit in bold is bang on. I thought a lot of things changed that night (and, arguably, that season). We had been challengers in the mid to late 90s but the noughties saw us fall behind.

My most painful game ever and always. Much much more than Blues or Albion. It’s the humiliations over the years and brummie ****** sitting all smug amongst us that boils my piss to steam. I hate them I hate them.

My hatred is clearly similar to yours. I’m still bitter about 1993, and 2010. That 3-2 in the cup was a back breaker. The same score at OT when that Italian came off the bench and scored a wonder goal before barely scoring again for them. The 2-2 at VP when we were two and playing superb.
I’d love it if we smashed them to bits this afternoon, love it.

Without me looking through the thread, has there been any news on the "match preparedness" of john e and Meanwood Villa yet?

Same here, those were all sore ones as was the Hernandez hat-trick in 2012.
However the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the 1992 FA Cup remains the most painful game ever for me. Watched it with my 4 Liverpool supporting Uni roommates, a good Villa team plus the fact that they only had to beat Portsmouth and Sunderland after that. Have never been keen on the blue and yellow away kit anyway.

Sweapstake for today's dodgy, game changing decision...... 36 minutes.

I think maybe my suggestion of starting at 6am has not gone well.
