Normally want the easiest possible team at home. This year though? Anyone away, on Sunday evening, please.
-
Solihull Moors will do
-
I hate us number 3. We were always number 2 until Bournemouth decided to put the AFC in.
-
Bournemouth were always AFC. We changed number when they got promoted to the Championship. Premier League and Championship clubs are numbered 1-44.

That's not strictly true ...they added AFC in 1971
They were formed as Boscombe FC became Bournemouth & Boscombe then in 1971 became what they r today.
I suppose i'm one of the few who will remember this change...lol
-
Ah, fair enough. But they still didn't become ball number two when they changed name, it was when they got promoted. I'll claim to be half right, then. 😀
Accrington Stanley only one point off the playoffs for promotion to the Championship so not beyond the realms of possibility we could be ball four next season.

Sometimes Aldershot would be numbered ahead of us, and don't forget Altrincham.

I dispute these claims.

Yeah that was a tough one to take
-
Solihull Moors, if they win today, would be a dream draw.
-
Cameron wouldn't be able to play would he? Because he would be playing against his parent club.
-
Now I've got this earworm.
-
Cameron wouldn't be able to play would he? Because he would be playing against his parent club.
Ah. Of course. Anyone but Solihull Moors then.
-
It will be small heath away

We need someone who is an authority on history of fa cup draw numbering. I reckon in the olden days when all the 2nd round games would be played Sat 3pm and the 3rd round draw would be on the radio monday the numbers were allocated alphabetically for all 64 teams with a few either/or thrown in.
e.g. Number 6....Birmingham City... will play at home to..... Number 1....Altrincham.
-
Seems like it was the current format at least as far back as 1947, otherwise Hartlepool(s) or Brighton would have had a lower number than Portsmouth and Colchester would have had a lower number than West Ham.

I dunno where they get this idea about Villa fans being historians from.
-
How come number 5 is allowed in the cup. Always thought it was for. football teams.

Been saying for ages that all clubs should be forced to play by their original names. None of this claiming-to-be-above-your-station name changing rubbish.

Wimbledon Old centrals v Wimbledon Old Centrals.
-
52 v 3 please. I know exactly where to hide 😉
-
Think there's a week between this and the mad xmas period of games this year so no excuse not to put a full strength side out compared to previous years imo as I'd like to see us have a good go at getting to later stages.
Obviously need a bit of luck with the draw as we got in 2015 with home ties v lower league teams. Home to Morecambe would do nicely.
-
We’re winning it this season. I’m absolutely irrationally convinced of this.
-
I wouldn’t mind Birmingham Citynil away on a Sunday night.
-
I hope we give it a go this year
-
Last won a third round game in the apocalypse season of 2015/16 I think?
-
Chorley at home.
-

Same here, we'd batter them.
-
Hopefully Blackburn and ManUre get each other so we avoid both. Played both enough at this stage to last all our lifetimes.
-
Last won a third round game in the apocalypse season of 2015/16 I think?
Against Wycombe
After a replay
And we lost 4-0 at home the next round
-
Last team we beat away (Wembley doesn't count) in the FA Cup?
Whoever gets it first wins... the satisfaction of knowing they were right as I'm far too poor to be giving out presents.
-
At home to number 60 will do nicely please.

-
Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back. Now, if you Googled it, retract that pat.
-
Chorley beat Peterborough so at least two non-league teams left in for us not to draw.
-

Don’t remember change but always remember them as Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic

Even the highlights think we're playing Blackburn there!

Didn't Ciaran Clark score a pretty good goal away against Brizzle Rovers?

A very commons quote. ‘He’s key hasn’t scored since August.’
-
Small Heath or Solihull Moors
-
Going to be a little bit difficult putting Moors back in the draw!

Snook on to the home end with my dad for that - was an excellent day :) bit disconcerting that it was the last away FA cup match we won tho
-
Stoke away!
-
No sound, and Robbie bastard Savage doing the draw.
-
Marine vs Tottenham is a great tie
-
Savage is such a prick.
-
Liverpool at home please.
-
Liverpool at home.
-
Easy. Hopefully they play their first team, the kids gave us a much tougher game.
-
Home against Liverpool
-
Fuck's sake.
-
That's it for yet another year then! :'(
-
They won't let the same happen. 6-2 to us.
-
Fuck's sake.
Said the Red half of Merseyside.
-
But Klopp doesn't have any £60-80m players on the bench to rotate in, how could they defeat us?!
Will there be fans in the stadium but mid-January?
-
It will really depend on how screwed they are with injuries and by January their progress in the CL and league. This will be the least important competitor for Klopp who is already complaining about fixture congestion and not having enough players.
-
If we play a complete first team we should beat the second string side they're likely to put out.
-
Loads of good draws tbh. Absolutely guaranteed that they still find a way to show Man sodding U v Watford.
-
will Klopp bother to turn up this time do you think
-
Have we ever drawn a non-league team?
-
At least we know itll be on telly
-

A Liverpool mate just messaged me saying he wants Klopp to take it seriously this year, but doesn’t think he will.
-
Was there a different draw on BT sport as I thought we had Fulham away? :-[
-
Have we ever drawn a non-league team?
Think we won 3-0 against someone non-league, circa '96 or '97?
PWS will know.
Edit- Gravesend & Northfleet, 3rd round, 1996.
-
I know we played Gravesend and Northfleet (one club).
-
If a draw, will there be a new match at Anfield this time or xtra time and shootout?
-
I knew it was going to be Liverpool all day. It was the obvious draw that football throws up. Bit like when you sell a player and they are the next match.
Nothing to fear. Gomez had probably just rushed to the loo.
-

I’m pretty sure all FA cup ties are one leg affairs now. And certainly this year where they can barely fit in the games they have.
-
As soon as the draw started I a feeling we would get the red Shite .......Will lightning strike twice in one season ?
-
Is it me or do Chelsea get an easy home draw more often than not?
-
I was just moaning about that.
-
I know the 7-2 was a proper hiding but I don't think Liverpool were automatically relegated after it...
Liverpool will travel to face Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup, while Manchester United welcome Watford to Old Trafford.
Arsenal will face Newcastle in the round's only all-Premier League tie.

That was last year.
-
Liverpool always play their kids in 3rd round. Can remember them going to Wolves two years ago and they put out a team not much stronger than what they played v us in the cup last year.
And they'll have a far weaker team than what they put out in the 7-2 anyway with all their injuries.
Hopefully we won't mess about and will go in full strength given there's a week's gap between Jan 2nd games and FA cup.
-
Oh and Spurs the spawny bastards drawing Marine!
-
Hopefully we’ll have our shooting boots on this time.
They’ll need double digits on the scoreboard.

Wolves - Palace as well.
-
Oh and Spurs the spawny bastards drawing Marine!
Don't mind that, what the cup is all about ultimately.
Chelsea however seem to always draw a league 2 team at home in 3rd round! Ridiculous number of home draws for them v moderate opposition down the years.
-
I think it'll be 7-2 to Villa....
-
Have we ever drawn a non-league team?
Loads between 1879 and 1888 (starting with Stafford Road and including Small Heath Alliance) plus Gravesend & Northfleet.
-
Hopefully we won't be as sloppy as last time, and make it to double figures in this one.
-
It will be the tie of the round and on the telly box.
-

Gold star if you know the one before that.
-
I reckon either Millwall or QPR in the thirties. And we lost.
-
Pretty sure Spurs were still non league when they cheated us.
-
I've looked it up and I was wrong, but there is a more recent one than Spurs.
-
QPR.
-
Hmmm... so I was right after all, admittedly by cheating and having two guesses. I just looked it up and thought it was Reading, must have skimmed past the QPR one somehow.
-
Ah, I know what I did wrong. I was only checking defeats. We beat QPR in 1920 on our way to our sixth cup win. Reading were the last non-league team to knock us out. In 1912, the year before our fifth, if anyone cares.
Unless I've missed another one somewhere.
-
Here's a question when was the last time we played Blues in the FA Cup?
-
1901, won one-nil after a replay.
-
Heres a question. Which team won an FA Cup final and had two captains ?
-
1901, won one-nil after a replay.
Yeah that is quite a stat, particularly when you think how many times, we've played them in the League Cup since the 63 final.
We were drawn to play them in the 5th round draw in 1955 providing we won the replay against Doncaster Rovers, the cup tie went to 4 replays when we eventually ended up losing 3-1.

We must have been distracted, worried about the Titanic's maiden voyage barely two months hence.

Shameful. A classic third round tie amongst two of the FA cup greats will be concluded even before the round kicks off properly.

Two ? They didn't reach a final until 1965.

In a display of some balance and symmetry we won it 7 times up to 57, they’ve won it 7 times since then. We need to break this hoodoo.....
-
Grrrr I hate BT Sport.
Not as much playing them in the FA Cup.
Does anyone remember the FA cup game at VP in the 80’s when they by one goal when they took a free kick to score before the Villa had a chance to regroup? SOSAC
-
Heres a question. Which team won an FA Cup final and had two captains ?
There’s a bon mot about The captain and t’neil, in there.
Or did one go off injured, which wouldn’t be as exciting?
