-
Let's roll!
-
Leeds: Meslier, Dallas, Ayling, Koch, Alioski, Struijk, Klich, Rodrigo, Costa, Harrison, Bamford.
-
FTF
-
Win please.
-
It it ain't broke...
-
I'm told that Cooper being out and Ayling in central defence is A Very Bad Thing for them.
I don't know who either of those people are, so no idea if it's true or not.
-
Davis taking El Ghazi's place on the bench, is it?
-
That must be Ayling at Centre half for them it can’t be Alioski
-
Davis taking El Ghazi's place on the bench, is it?
Thought he was supposed to be injured?
-
Recovered.
-
Come on Villa, time to go one better than 30/31 - win (at least) 5 in a row, become League Champions, and beat our record for most goals in a season.
FTDLF, 10-0. Watkins 4, Konsa 3, Grealish 2, McGinn
-
I always think Alioski is quite difficult to deal with.
-

Ayling is a man bun full back.
-

stuck back together with chewing gum. If he plays let's hope it's to see out the 4-0 to us scoreline
-
Nice to have Engels back on the bench. Can't remember if he was for the Leicester game.
-
Nice to have Engels back on the bench. Can't remember if he was for the Leicester game.
he was
-
He was.
-
My only concern tonight is Costa v Targett. He’s been good for them so far. Really need protection same way Trez provides on the other side.
-
I'd just like to echo what others have said and say that I'm not very keen on Dirty Leeds.
FTMBF.
-
Most of their team is shit, 3 easy points.
-
My only concern tonight is Costa v Targett. He’s been good for them so far. Really need protection same way Trez provides on the other side.
Who's one the bench?
-
Is it wrong to hope someone hurts that ****** Bamford tonight?
-
I'm told that Cooper being out and Ayling in central defence is A Very Bad Thing for them.
I don't know who either of those people are, so no idea if it's true or not.
Will it not be Koch and Struijk as CBs for them? We break past their initial press and we'll hammer them I think.
Tough night for our full backs though.
-

I refer you to my second sentence.
-
That must be Ayling at Centre half for them it can’t be Alioski
Struijk is a CB.
-
Does anybody know what iptv channels this is showing on?
-
Doesn't appear to be on hesgoal
-
Found it - EPL01
-
Wait until nearer k.o.
-
One big, brown Leffe in my hands. Let’s do this...
-
That must be Ayling at Centre half for them it can’t be Alioski
Struijk is a CB.
I think Bielsa said Struijk was coming in in Phillip's place. Although that could be a cunning bluff.
-
I'm eating a white Twix
-
Dallas has had to switch to the right. Hopefully Jack will give him a torrid time
-
Two lucky beers in the fridge. Only little ones, and they have to last the 90 minutes. It was making my gums bleed, sucking on the dregs last time out. Worked, though.
-
How long before Jack gets fouled and how long until their first yellow card for doing it repeatedly?
-
Someone to get red carded tonight? Bamford maybe?
-
That must be Ayling at Centre half for them it can’t be Alioski
Struijk is a CB.
I think Bielsa said Struijk was coming in in Phillip's place. Although that could be a cunning bluff.
My contact informs me that Strujik is a defensive midfielder, so they're either going five at the back or he'll sit in front of the centre-backs.
-
2-0
Jack & Ollie
SJM to be motm
-
Someone to get red carded tonight? Bamford maybe?
Luke Ayling for me
-
I'm eating a white Twix
Sounds revolting!
-
Bit nervous about this one
-
I'm drinking a black Guinness (Windies recipe). It's lovely.
-
Yeah it's basically Ayling at CB and this Sturjik guy at DM. And one of the full backs out of position so that will be their weakness tonight.
Have some good players on the counter attack, Costa started well for them this season.
-
Nice pint or three of Abbot Ale for me.
-
I'm missing most, if not all, of it. Dad taxi again.
-
They’ve got BT sport box office where I am but, so far, no match. Anyone else with this problem?
-
Andy Townsend seems quite excited for Villa. Nice to see.
-
I'm missing most, if not all, of it. Dad taxi again.
Thank fuck for that. :D
-
Alioski at left back, Dallas at right back, Ayling at centre half. Dodgy defensive reshuffle. 3-1 Villa.
-
Anyone else find the '40 should still be the target' comments a bit patronising?
-
Leeds took more, even when the stadium is empty
-
Have I ever mentioned that I hate Leeds?!
I remember the first time I went to Elland Road: a dark December day in 1975: it was frightening – the locals were just horrible and the local plod did nothing as they tucked into us away fans. I was glad when we conceded and eventually lost 1-0.
Always disliked them with a passion after that.
FTDLB
-
After everything that's happened so far I'm still nervous.
-
I still have fond memories of the day we thrashed them at Wembley in 1996.
-
Savage co-com... this will be painful
-
COYVBFTDLMBF!
-
COYVBFTDLMBF!
You've gone all Welsh on us!
-
Bamford close
-
For some reason I don't feel very optimistic. Hope I'm wrong. To be fair, I usually am.
-
Predictably, Leeds putting the early pressure on.
-
Savage co-com... this will be painful
Stephen Warnock on mine.
-
Leeds come out flying as usual.
They will tire. Key is not to be 1 or 2 down when that happens.
-
First foul on JG; from Klich.
-
Savage co-com... this will be painful
Stephen Warnock on mine.
Michael Brown on R5L.
-
We are top of the league
(https://i.ibb.co/309kXQ9/Screenshot-127.png)
-
Very hard to follow. Anytime they shout "Koch" it's difficult to tell which Leeds player they're talking about.
-
Sturjik booked.
-
First Leeds booking
-
First card for foul on Jack - 9 minutes
-
Struijk trying to be sent off
-
And now should be sent off, like Billing in the Bournemouth game last season.
Bielsa will take him off at half time if he makes it that far.
-
Booking for Leeds comes after 10 minutes, and a potential second yellow for the same player after 12.
All rather predictable.
-
Should have been a second yellow.
-
Good to see an early yellow for them. None of this letting have a couple before. Now a foul on Luiz, he's lucky to get away with that.
-
scumbags
-
Should be 1 down
-
Their wide players really on song, getting round us no problem.
-
Poor decision making from Jack there.
-
Should be 1 down
Nah, great defending from Ezri.
-
Defence looks a bit iffy
-
I am very nervous about this game
-
They are murdering us out wide
-
Bloody hell, how did he miss that.
-
This isn’t too pretty so far. Leeds look really quite sharp.
-
Should be 1 down
Nah, great defending from Ezri.
Not that
-
Warning that - can’t be weak here.
-
Should be 1 down
Could quite easily be 3. Thankfully they can't finish.
-
Yay a shot
-
Don't like JG taking the corners: he should be on the edge of the box, ready for a shot.
-
Bollocks to these upstarts. We will funeral them.
-
Should be 1 down
Nah, great defending from Ezri.
Not that
Ohok, you're further ahead of me than I thought then.
-
Should be 1 down
Could quite easily be 3. Thankfully they can't finish.
Not that you want to jinx things!
-
Grealish needs to be in the game more
-
Midfield needs to wake up here. We have plenty of players who can keep the ball so we need to do it now to stop this Leeds pressure.
-
Great double tackle from Doug there. Shame about the pass
-
Costa was the liveliest Leeds player against Wolves ... happening again against us.
-
This is the problem I mentioned before the game - you can’t let Leeds impose their game. We need to get a grip.
-
That's filth from Grealish, incredible touch.
-
Leeds sub already? - Stujik off.
-
We look like the away team, struggling with any composure
-
Great defensively from Luiz there
-
There you go, Stujrik subbed.
-
We’re poor here so far. Letting them totally set the agenda
-
Great defensively from Luiz there
Liz? - aaaaah, Dougie.
-
I think we are playing a dangerous game of rope a dope. We are planning on playing much more aggressively when they tire in the second half. Much like we did at Leicester where we were much better than them. At least I think that’s what we are doing. It’s not great so far.
-
Wolves did it well but they are so adept as strangling the life of of games when they need to
-
BBC live feed has lost it. Seem to be only using Villa players names.
-
Wolves did it well but they are so adept as strangling the life of of games when they need to
Similar to Leicester game then, they had most of the pressure in first 20 minutes.
Leeds do play like they're on steroids but think there's been a decrease in most of their second halves this seaso while we've tended to get stronger during the games.
-

Yes, and you know what you;re getting against Leeds: 110%, all-out front-foot football. Not many teams have dealt with it yet - Wolves, for example, were all over the place in the first half.
It may not look pretty, but Villa have to roll with it, keep competing and strike when they can; in the first half. Come the 2nd, we do need to ensure we can move up the gears.
-
Right now it’s a very alarming 38:62 possession ratio.
-
It’s always a good sign of your team when you’re taking players off less than a third into the game due to ill discipline
-
off the line
-
Right now it’s a very alarming 38:62 possession ratio.
What was our possession against Liverpool; remind me again!
-
Thats how much they fear Grealish they subbed his marker after 20mins.
-
Nearly, Jack off the line.
-
Watkins leading the line well.
-
Come on Villa.
-
Anyone who did PPV specifically to check out Pascal Strujik paid 71p per minute
-
Doug's passing can be sublime at times
-
Bit better last few mins
-
Trez struggling to get going so far
-
Anyone who did PPV specifically to check out Pascal Strujik paid 71p per minute
😂😂😂
-
Cash did well there.
-
We're the better team now because their pace has dropped, which was always going to happen.
-
Score Villa.
-
Who are the commentators? It's like watching fan zone but both of them are Leeds fans.
-
The commentary i Have sounds like Leeds are 4 - 0 up.
-
Shoot the ball Ollie
-
I really like trezeguet.
-
Watkins always needs two touches.
-
I really like trezeguet.
Working hard
-
The commentary i Have sounds like Leeds are 4 - 0 up.
They could have been to be fair
-
Watkins always needs two touches.
To be fair, that's still two fewer than most strikers we've had for the last few years.
-
Bielsa! Give us a goal 🎶
-
Cash is superb.
-
Cash is king
-
The commentary i Have sounds like Leeds are 4 - 0 up.
They could have been to be fair
A bit harsh
-
We’re starting to ask a few more questions now
-
We’re growing into this a bit now.
-
Jack not in the game but we’re starting to play.
Leeds are annoyingly good to be fair.
-
Be better please Villa. I fucking can’t stand Leeds, especially now they have delusions of grandeur.
-
Matty cash quality as well
-
St Helens beating Leeds 22-0 ...
Just sayin'
-
Pen shout
-
Not given
-
How’s that not a penalty?
-
How’s that not a penalty?
If outside imo
-
Bamford chance
-
How is this twat on Radio 5?
-
We were lucky not to concede there.
-
The co commentator on R5 said that he knew Jack would go down as soon as he got into the box and it happens too often, that is why he wasn't given the penalty
-
Good chance but I think Martinez would have had that if it was on target.
-
How’s that not a penalty?
Wrong colour shirts not red.
-
How’s that not a penalty?
On the radio, Michael Brown claiming he knew JG would go over as soon as the ball arrived at his feet ... there's the popular view: that JG goes over too easily.
Tosser (Brown, that is).
-
MIchael Brown
-
I like Trez, works hard, seems to play with a smile on his face and looks like he'd be a great guy to be around. But he's just a bit shit.
Not, however, as utterly shit as Bamford, who the RMC commentators were speculating might be more suited to the Prem than the Championship, obviously not having spotted that every time he has played in the PL, he has been absolutely useless.
-
HT, need to improve second half.
-
The co commentator on R5 said that he knew Jack would go down as soon as he got into the box and it happens too often, that is why he wasn't given the penalty
Is the co-commentator Lee Chapman or Mark Vikuda or David Batty or Danny Mills.
-
I've given up on 5live and switched to the odeous WM
-
Think I said it last week but we really need more from Barkley in these type of games.
Mind you won't be complaining if he scores last minute winner again!
-
I'm okay with 0-0 at half-time. We now need to up the pressure and not allow them to get on the front foot.
-
Alan Hutton on Villa radio.
He’s not bad
-
Need to be much better in second half. That wasn’t good enough. Fucking Leeds.
-
It pains me to say it because I hate them a lot... but Leeds look decent.
-
Harrison is a really decent winger
-
I really like trezeguet.
Working hard
Not sure about his quality though
-
To be fair you have to give Bielsa his due, he is making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear and wasn’t afraid to sub a weak link in 20 mins. We can get better though
-
We have to stop letting Leeds dictate the game.
-
I thought leeds had the better start but we have controlled the last 15mins apart from a few breakaways. Need Barkley and Grealish to get more involved.
-
I think Jack did go down a bit too easily but that's what everyone does these day - it was no different to the pen Sheffield Utd got against us or several others I've seen given. And anywhere else n the field that's given as a foul. So even with VAR, no consistency. Perhaps it's because it's Jack. In any case it looked like contact was outside the box.
-
We need to press them high. They will give the ball away cheaply at the back. Trez is not protecting Cash enough.
-
That was tough, thought it would be after watching their first half against Wolves the other night. They are good, strong, fast and pass it well. Good game.
-
The co commentator on R5 said that he knew Jack would go down as soon as he got into the box and it happens too often, that is why he wasn't given the penalty
Is the co-commentator Lee Chapman or Mark Vikuda or David Batty or Danny Mills.
I said to SWMBO that I knew the radio commentators would come out with some stupid bollocks about Jack as soon as he was fouled and it happens too often, that is why we they are ignored, the twats.
-
Good game.Apart from Leeds speed, we've been the better
-
I think we will be better second half, neither side have done enough to be leading imo.
-
We are playing with 10 men while Trezeguet is on. Running around a lot and offering nothing.
-
I knew Jack Grealish was going to fall, he is so good at leaving his foot in. It goes against him though sometimes.
He deliberately falls over. There are times when he is fouled a lot and there are times when he buys a fall.
-
I'm okay with 0-0 at half-time. We now need to up the pressure and not allow them to get on the front foot.
Yeah me too, in all the chances Leeds have had we've come closest to scoring.
but agreed we need to step up and wear them down.
-
We are playing with 10 men while Trezeguet is on. Running around a lot and offering nothing.
Do you think Traore's got the work ethic to get back when they spring a counter, though?
-
Harrison is a really decent winger
He is isn't he. I've never heard of him before, but a quick check shows he's a Man City player which would explain it.
-
I expected that. I just hope we can go up a gear or two 2nd half. Biggest problem is we're losing the midfield, SJM and Luiz getting bypassed too often, that needs to change. We're okay but that won't be good enough tonight.
-
We are playing with 10 men while Trezeguet is on. Running around a lot and offering nothing.
Bit harsh I thought he was running around a lot helping out Matt Cash.
-
McGinn needs improvement this game
-
I'm okay with 0-0 at half-time. We now need to up the pressure and not allow them to get on the front foot.
This, just need to step it up second half, Leeds doing well but have all the hallmarks of a team newly promoted with all the froth and rush to get that goal, Villa composed, a moment of glory from Jack or Ross just to let them know what the Premier league is all about.
-
We are playing with 10 men while Trezeguet is on. Running around a lot and offering nothing.
Do you think Traore's got the work ethic to get back when they spring a counter, though?
Last 20 minutes will be all us hopefully. Could put on Davis and move Watkins out wide first.
-
Another twenty minutes of that and Leeds are going to be fooked. Not too worried yet.
-
You can see why Leeds are getting plaudits. For a promoted team to play like that against some strong and in form teams is impressive
-
We are playing with 10 men while Trezeguet is on. Running around a lot and offering nothing.
Bit harsh I thought he was running around a lot helping out Matt Cash.
I don’t think he has given cash any protection at all.
Hence cash having to play an absolute blinder.
-
What a first half! Seemed to flash by in 5 mins!
-
Need to be better Villa come on.
-
Are tv commentators running a book on who can shove their tongues the furthest up Leeds’ arse.
Yes, they are decent but fucking hell, they aren’t the second coming.
-
Another twenty minutes of that and Leeds are going to be fooked. Not too worried yet.
I keep thinking the same, but it does seem like Bielsa has got them conditioned to play that way for 90 mins. I think that's the hardest I've seen an opposition team work in quite a while. They do seem to be picking up the majority of second balls and moving forward at real speed.
I think Bielsa's sub was brilliant management. We all knew that lad looking at a second booking at some point, or his game was compromised at the very least. Not many managers would have the balls to make that change that early.
-
We can’t let them dictate play for another 20 mins.
-
Harrison is a really decent winger
He is isn't he. I've never heard of him before, but a quick check shows he's a Man City player which would explain it.
Think I’m correct in saying he was in someone’s academy as a kid but his mom thought it wasn’t getting the best out of him so he got a scholarship in the US, subsequently signed for an American team and was picked up and loaned out by Man City.
-

Agreed about the sub. 99% of coaches bottle that.

-
Pretty even. Leeds dangerous when they are coming with many espeschially down our right and Cash often have two of them to stop. Trez not so good at marking his man sometimes. When we break Trez often get the ball (not being close to someone else)
-

The problem in midfield is that they're not really using theirs in attack, as soon as they get the ball they have 2-3 players on each wing and we're not following them (which I'm sure is intentional). If we get a bit more control as I expect the game will change quickly.
-
They've not had any significant chances though. It's what they did vs Wolves and in the second half Wolves started to up the tempo when Leeds got tired. I think we will do the same.

Bamford should have scored when he shot with his right instead of his left

Used to play in MLS for New York whatever when Lampard was there.

Turns out it's Stephen Warnock. I would've thought he might been a bit more pro-Villa.
-
Warnock is generally pretty fair.

He made a comment about the crowd getting on your back at villa park if things aren’t going well...maybe he has some bad memories
-
He played for both teams so it's not surprising.

He played on loan for Leeds at some point after leaving us.
Edit; Joined them from us.
-
I'd imagine he does considering some of the shit he copped

Bamford should have scored when he shot with his right instead of his left
I don't think given the angle he came at it and the speed it was going across he could have got his left on to it. Either way they one shot actually on target which is something we've done a decent job on for a while now with other teams (inc. the end of last season). Denying really clear cuts chances. Let's hope that continues and we can pinch one or two.

Yeah he was getting dogs abuse during 11/12. Remember that mad diving header own goal infront of the Holte v I think QPR.
-
McGinn needs a shake up or subbed. Costing us with lack of cover and reading game wrong
-
Leeds will taken plenty of points off top half teams with this style.
-
We need to 'up' the intensity
-
Jack going on his own
-
Leeds will taken plenty of points off top half teams with this style.
They will - we need to do something to make sure we’re not one of them.
-

Could be useful for us later on in the season....
-
How are we doing?
-
Get something from this pressure, Villa!!!!
-
Konza nearly.
He dosen't half get on a decent number corners, important given the Mings goal threat has receded since we got promoted.
-
Warnock is generally pretty fair.
Warnocks been fine. People ore over sensitive about this stuff
-
What a goal that would have been. Awesome.
-
Fuck Konsa very close
-
Grealish almost doing a ricky villa
-
That's nearly a wonder goal from Jack. Maybe could've put Watkins in but I'm not sure he was in a better position.
-
Leeds goal
-
Bamford finally scores
-
Fcukin' Bamford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Bollocks
-
FFS. Just when you thought we'd weatherd the storm. Been a bit of a mess v counter attacks tonight.
Really need to step things up in last half hour.
-
If grealish had passed to Watkins after that run I reckon we'd be ahead. Well level now.
-
Was going come - I think we’re stuffed now.
-
As soon as someone here said 'Bamford is shit' I knew he'd score!
-
First time we've gone behind in a league game since our last defeat against Man Utd
-
Let's see how we react to going behind then..
-
This isn’t good enough.
-
Not that weasel Bamford twat
-
Can't see a way back into this
-
Don't see us coming back
-
Shit. It's been coming though.
-
Such a bad goal to concede. Fuck me
-
This is Gabby’s fault!
-
Fuck
-
We'll concede again if we try and push them
-
You can't keep giving them chances. He won't get an easier chance than that.
-
Smith out
-
Fucking Bamford.
-
Not watxhing game. Could Martinez have done any better? Conscious he has been incredible and so calm this season

As soon as someone here said 'Bamford is shit' I knew he'd score!
I said it, and stand by it. The Lance Stroll of the Premier League (I don't know if JCB sponsor Leeds, but I wouldn't be at all surprised) managed to score from 4 yards.
-
It sounds bad on the radio, surprised if we can get anything
-
Not that weasel Bamford twat
Of all the annoying players they have, Patrick Bampot is the annoyingest.
-
Fucking hell everyone! Chin up. It's Leeds - they're wank.
We'll win this 3-1.
-
They don't do anything really complicated. Whenever they win the ball in midfield, they all just start running really fast toward the opposition goal. Fuckers.
-
I've not been impressed with Grealish tonight apart from that one run and even then he should have passed to Watkins or shot sooner.
-
We’ll be lucky to get a draw out of this. To be fair, we’ve had the better chances, but need to sharpen up. Disappointing.
-
Don't see us coming back
I think we will, still plenty of time.
-
I think Leeds deserve the goal but for people saying were stuffed, it came right after two great chances for us.
-
leeds have got some kid in midfield we should be schooling him the quality we have in there.
-
Fucking hell everyone! Chin up. It's Leeds - they're wank.
We'll win this 3-1.
Yeah, I'm going with 2-1 Villa
Commentator, what a moron, ''Leeds can smell Villa's vulnerability'', idiot.
-
It sounds bad on the radio, surprised if we can get anything
Does have Stoke vibes where we huffed and puffed to a 1-0 defeat albeit with second string team.
Hopefully DS will change things quickly, plan A hasn't worked for once this season. Would get Davis on alongside Watkins to give their backline something to think about.
Traore for last 20 minutes.
-
I think Leeds deserve the goal but for people saying were stuffed, it came right after two great chances for us.
Could easily see either team scoring the next goal
-
Traore getting ready
-
Fucking hell everyone! Chin up. It's Leeds - they're wank.
We'll win this 3-1.
I think we should have been 1 up already, but they are easily the best team we've faced so far.
-
Fucking hell everyone! Chin up. It's Leeds - they're wank.
We'll win this 3-1.
Yes that's the spirit come on lads we can do this.
-
Fucking hell everyone! Chin up. It's Leeds - they're wank.
We'll win this 3-1.
I think we should have been 1 up already, but they are easily the best team we've faced so far.
Vibes of last season. High press team just bypasses us comfortably. Reminds me of Southampton v us last season who will be up next week.
-
I am seriously impressed by Leeds though. For a newly promoted team, it really looks as though they have been challenging in the Premier League for ages.
-
They just look quicker and are playing with an intensity that we're not matching. Really surprised. Barclay, McGinn disappointing.
-
Right now it’s a very alarming 38:62 possession ratio.
Our lack of possession is now concerning me, TV!
We've ceded far too much of the game to the opposition - we need to get this game by the scruff of its neck and stick it to them.
Not enough from McGinn, Luiz and Trez; at the very least.
-
Smith needs to change it now. Lost it completely.
-
Need a tactical change
-
Leeds pen shout and handbags with Mings
-
I am seriously impressed by Leeds though. For a newly promoted team, it really looks as though they have been challenging in the Premier League for ages.
They are very well coached. Exactly like Wolves when they came up.
-
Booo Bamford
-
Trez of Traore on should. Be the move
-
We've had a penalty claim, an off-the-line clearance and several half-chances during this half - we need to plug away and up the intensity.
-
Pen not given
-
Oh no criticism of Bamford from Michael Brown then
-
that was pathetic.
-
Trez off for Traore
-
Bamford is a diving cheating c-bomb
-
Bamford stamps on Mings
-
Trez off. Very honest player and good for the team but limited in games like tonight.
Would've put Davis on before Traore tbh.
-
No one up to speed so far
-
0-2
-
This is shite.
-
Game over.
-
Guess who scored
-
Mings need to be more calm ffs
-
Bollocks.
-
Really poor effort. Smith has been schooled by bielsa here unfortunately.
-
Shocking again from Barclay. Not at it today at all.
-
Fuck. Bampot again.
-
Fuck. I'm behind.
-
Hate that little ******
-
*close the box full of scorchios and puts them in the cupboard*
-
very very poor
-
Really really poor. We’ve let Leeds dictate the game and we’ve lost the game. Obviously before tonight has been great, but tonight has been piss poor.
-
Eff off... hate leeds
-
We be been mostky second best throughout. They look twice as fit and fast as us.
-
Our midfield seem to have taken a collective pooh break
-
3-2?
-
£14.95 and it's 90 seconds behind. Absolute bollocks.
-
Jack booked for dissent
-
I really would like someone to end Bamford’s career.
I never say that, but he’s a nasty, cheating weasel.
-
No complaints, they've done a job on us so far
-
We've been done by Bielsa, their movements have all been obviously to a very purposeful plan, they've snuffed us out in midfield and broke on us incredibly quickly, often on the turn.
-
Fair play to Leeds. Makeshift defence and dm and they've been better than us.
-
Leeds deserve to be a ahead but why did it have to be that weasel Bamford to get the goals. absolute C***.
-
Feels like so many games last season when we were just too slow to everything and to change things up. Getting at 0-0 should've been the warning.
Oh well it's a reality check. Trick now is to avoid a 6-7 winless run which can easily stem from games like this.
-
wrong tactics all night
-
Bielsa is a fabulous coach.
-
To be fair that’s a good goal
-
2nd best here, haven’t taken our chances when they have and they’ve killed us on the break. Red card incoming here as we’re getting frustrated now.
-
Another Leeds goal looks more likely than us getting back into it
-
Their one touch passing and movement has basically bypassed our lines of defence too easily.
That said, we've been really sloppy today as well.
-
It’s fucking disappointing to not be better prepared for what Leeds do.
-
Has not stopped the overlaps all night
-
Really surprised that we've been so passive. Apart from a couple of Jack moments we've scarcely been in it.
-
Outplayed out thought out fought
-
wrong tactics all night
Yep and in desperate need of changing all game. Still issues with in game changes or lack of.
-
We're still desperately lacking steel in the centre of the pitch. Yes we've added potential match winners going forward and yes up to this game we've looked more organised but we're still more than capable of letting teams run through us.
-
Massively disappointed in Barkley's contribution tonight.
-
Fucking shit way to start the weekend.
-
0-3
-
Bamford again
-
No complaints, they've done a job on us so far
Yep. Being beaten by the better team on the night. But it just feels like we're losing to the team putting in the effort, rather than being better than us.
We have a few players who have a 'relaxed' style when playing. Jack, Mings, and Barkley to an extent. When we're winning, it looks great, but when we're not, or being outfought, it's infuriating...
-
0-3. Bamford hat trick.
-
Bollocks.
-
McGinn anonymous tonight
-
Embarrassing now. Attack against defence and were the fucking team losing
-
we are all over the place at the moment.
-
Well, this is a bit shit. Dad Taxi returns and we're 0-3 down.
-
Fucking hell it’s now an utter embarrassment.
-
This is the Villa we saw last season. Let teams attack, wave after wave and end up conceding. You cannot keep playing this way and not expect what has happened tonight to happen. We brought this on ourselves. As great as Liverpool was this was in equal measure horrendous
-
Reminds me of the '91 game, we were looking good, near the top of the table then Leeds came to VP and dicked us.
-
Believed our own hype
-
Very poor second half response. thing is had we taken any of the number of chances presented earlier, that would have been it.
-
I’m off. Gonna beat the traffic.
-
FFS
-
At no point has he addressed the problem of cash being overrun
-
Pissing away the GD now like a bunch of amateurs
-
Anyone who calls a player rubbish before they play Villa should face a temporary ban!
-
Yeah and I went for Watkins above Bamford in my PPL team
-
If we're not careful we're at risk of dropping points here...
-
Thanks Pay Per View. Shafted me up the arse.
-
This is a shoeing.
-
‘Pop’
-
The sort of Ross Berkeley performance I. Was dreading.
-
I like Trez, works hard, seems to play with a smile on his face and looks like he'd be a great guy to be around. But he's just a bit shit.
Not, however, as utterly shit as Bamford, who the RMC commentators were speculating might be more suited to the Prem than the Championship, obviously not having spotted that every time he has played in the PL, he has been absolutely useless.
Hmmm...
-
Just need to get back on it next weekend, season been full of hammerings for some top teams.
Man. United went from 6-1 home defeat to beating PSG within two weeks so that's the type of mentality we need e.g. it's just one bad game.
Would hate for us to feel sorry for ourselves and go winless for 6-7 games which would kill a promising season stone dead.
-
Awful response to going behind, by the players and manager. We look as clueless on how to stop things as Liverpool did.
-
The sort of Ross Berkeley performance I. Was dreading.
Not sure he is to blame
-
Sorry good start or not this is fucking shit!
-
It’s really disappointing that we’ve done nothing to address the obvious challenges Leeds present either in pre game planning or through the game.
-
Sort it out Dean!
-
This is the Villa we saw last season. Let teams attack, wave after wave and end up conceding. You cannot keep playing this way and not expect what has happened tonight to happen. We brought this on ourselves. As great as Liverpool was this was in equal measure horrendous
Exactly this. Counter attack has served us well this season, we've taken practically all our chances and outworked teams but we need to learn how to keep hold of the ball too.
-
Bad, bad performance and almost certainly, result.
-
Barkley isn't fit, seems stupid leaving him on in a game that's gone.
-
Crazy, how many times do you see a newly promoted side shake the tree against all odds, last season it was Sheff Utd, blah blah the season before, you would think we would know how to deal with this enthusiasm.
-
McGinn and Barkley not at it tonight at all.
-
Not sure why we've not made a tactical change.
-
The sort of Ross Berkeley performance I. Was dreading.
Not sure he is to blame
Check out the first goal
-
Idiot, Barkley.
-
Jackie Brown is on Dave if anyone is interested
-
Worse game I have seen Jack have for 3 years.
I don’t think we ever looked like we had any belief we could win tonight.
I hope to god they didn’t fall into the trap of thinking Leeds always tire, because that just one of those idle fallacies.
-
This is the Villa we saw last season.
Last weekend was pretty much 50-50% possesion.
We're just not very good against teams who can manically press us in midfield. Southampton will be like this next weekend and they also have a striker who can finish a chance so that's a big test now with this setback.
-
This has been fucking woeful but not surprising.
-
They've just worked so much harder than us all over the pitch. I want to say they've been lucky, and there has been an element of luck about a couple of the goals, but you can't say they don't deserve to be in the lead - unfortunately.
Back to earth with a massive fucking bump.
-
Not sure why we've not made a tactical change.
Yeah lack of tactical response is very disappointing tonight.
-
100% start is looking under threat.
-
VAR check
-
What a horrible, horrible start to the weekend. Smashed by fucking Leeds.
-
No pen
-
They look significantly better than us I'm afraid
-
I'd settle for a point now if i'm honest
-
Double the kick in the nuts will be that this will now will be all about how incredible Leeds and Bielsa are. It’s going to hideous to listen to. And while we got a modicum of credit for hammering Liverpool, all the focus will be on Leeds on how they tore us a new one. And I really wanted to just fucking relax and enjoy football this weekend.
Leeds, Leeds, Bielsa, Bielsa...it will be vomit inducing
-
I'll take 4-3.
-
A goal would be nice
-
This has been fucking woeful but not surprising.
Well I'm surprised
-
Not at the races tonight
They hustled, bustled and out passed us.
Too many players not on the pitch tonight, we knew how they would play and let them.
-
Should be 4
-
Maybe we just have to accept it and move on. Like others have said it's been a pretty crazy season so far results-wise. But can we return to the performances of the last few weeks or is this normal service resuming? I guess next few games will tell
-
Oh well. A lot of teams will lose points off Leeds this season based on what we’ve seen tonight.
At least the beer was nice.
-
From smashing 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' one week to losing to Leeds 3-0 at home a few weeks later takes some doing.
-
Worse than losing, we’ve delivered totally into the media’s lap.
-
Fucking dreadful to a man, including the coaching staff.
-
It had to be Leeds. Why did it have to be Leeds? And with a Bamford hattrick, just why?
-
This has been fucking woeful but not surprising.
Well I'm surprised
Incredibly surprised, we are the form side, at home, not sure how clearer it can be, we should have won this, this is Leeds we are playing not Liverpool.
-
It had to be Leeds. Why did it have to be Leeds? And with a Bamford hattrick, just why?
It's like the exact footballing polar opposite of hammering Liverpool. A hammering from Leeds and Bamford getting the match-ball.
-
I've always wanted us to go a season unbeaten at home, so the first home defeat always fucks me off
-
They had a plan, we didn't.
Dean totally chanced it and hoped our talent would see us triumph.
-
This Harrison looks quite a player.
-
They are taking the piss now!
-
Yep, the media wankfest will be almost as unbearable as the game
-
Worse than losing, we’ve delivered totally into the media’s lap.
Precisely. The wankfest will be messy.
-
I thought we'd look at them and have a plan. Passive from the start. Not going to be a knob about it but feels a lot like the bad days of last season. Hope it's just a bad day.....
-
It had to be Leeds. Why did it have to be Leeds? And with a Bamford hattrick, just why?
Quite.
The R5L people are wanking over the performance
-
McGinn and Barkley not at it tonight at all.
Disappointing considering we had extra 24 hours compared to Leeds for this game.
Can see team being freshened up next weekend, starts for Nakamba and Traore I think.
-
We've shown absolutely fuck all since going behind, that fucks me off more than losing does.
-
Yep, the media wankfest will be almost as unbearable as the game
Yep we’ll get plenty of coverage. But only ourselves to blame.
-
I'm glad Leeds played on Monday night, they'll be knackered in a minute.
-
We gave up at 2-0 Unacceptable.
-
Well, if there's something good to come out of it, maybe it's a need to improve the intensity of our game. Against Leicester we managed the game well; tonight we never started and conceded too much to the well-organised oppo.
Sounds like we gave Bamford far too much space and time.
-
McGinn and Barkley not at it tonight at all.
Disappointing considering we had extra 24 hours compared to Leeds for this game.
Can see team being freshened up next weekend, starts for Nakamba and Traore I think.
Or Hourihane and Traore
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him. And he looks a tit sitting on that fucking toadstool.
-
It had to be Leeds. Why did it have to be Leeds? And with a Bamford hattrick, just why?
Quite.
The R5L people are wanking over the performance
To be fair, they’ve been excellent tonight
-
McGinn and Barkley not at it tonight at all.
Disappointing considering we had extra 24 hours compared to Leeds for this game.
Can see team being freshened up next weekend, starts for Nakamba and Traore I think.
I think he will give this team a chance to redeem itself. The only change maybe Barkley due to the injury he’s been carrying.
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him. And he looks a tit sitting on that fucking toadstool.
To be honest - look how good they’ve been. That’s all him.
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him. And he looks a tit sitting on that fucking toadstool.
He is good though

I get that but we saw in the MON years the folly of playing the same 11 constantly. Certainly with the way our midfield has just been walked through Nakamba will feel he deserves a chance next weekend which I'd give him and I don't rate him that highly.
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him. And he looks a tit sitting on that fucking toadstool.
Me too. I always feel that he speaks perfect English but doesn't let on.
-
5 minutes added time. It's the game that keeps on giving.
-
Some sobering stats:
Leeds 8 shots on target, 18 off.
-
Yep, the media wankfest will be almost as unbearable as the game
In fairness they have destroyed us in the same way we did to Liverpool
-
That was just terrible in the second half....awful
-
Not sure about Luiz and Nakamba in the same midfield.
-
Some sobering stats:
Leeds 8 shots on target, 18 off.
Yep let’s be honest it’s a shocking night from the team and Dean.
-
Yep, the media wankfest will be almost as unbearable as the game

Need to make sure we finish above them at least. They're only actually 2 points off us now so the chase is on.....
(I may have posted that two minutes ago but lost internet connection).
-
The problem is the reliance on the counterattack, which is to say the reliance on individuals being brilliant when they get space. If you watch Leeds on the ball they take very few touches and they're always moving according to patterns they clearly practice; when we can't break we're really laborious, taking five touches, looking up, waiting for something to happen rather than knowing what will in the situation. It makes us, frankly, predictable apart from one player.
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him. And he looks a tit sitting on that fucking toadstool.
Couldn't agree more.
His stints at Marseille, Lazio and Lille say all you really need to know about him.
He's a curmudgeon.
-
Credit where credit is due. The better team won.
-
Tonight has been a real lesson. All credit to Leeds, they’ve been better all over the park, no complaints
-
Some sobering stats:
Leeds 8 shots on target, 18 off.
Yep let’s be honest it’s a shocking night from the team and Dean.
It is. Dosen't mean we should go on 7-8 match winless run though which could easily happen if you look at any season we've played since 2010.
Looking forward to hopefully a good response v Southampton.
-
FT
BOOOOOOO
-
Some sobering stats:
Leeds 8 shots on target, 18 off.
they had us on the ropes from the off. Cash was our most impressive player
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him.
There's a reason so many managers admire him and claim he's the best. We're witnessing a Bielsa masterclass. Sometimes you just have to sit back and admire.
-
Bollocks to Bielsa! Up the Villa! FTF!
-
McGinn and Barkley not at it tonight at all.
Disappointing considering we had extra 24 hours compared to Leeds for this game.
Can see team being freshened up next weekend, starts for Nakamba and Traore I think.
Nope you put the same team out and make them put it right.
-
Bielsa has done and incredible job at Leeds - just look at tonight’s game. Them being where they are is all him.
-
Fair play to Leeds. Very high work rate, good players, good tactics.
-
Next game is huge. I have this horrible feeling we could go on a bad run.
-
Some sobering stats:
Leeds 8 shots on target, 18 off.
they had us on the ropes from the off. Cash was our most impressive player
Yep, the first half wasn't great at all although could've still gone 1 up with shot cleared off the line. Was hoping we'd weathered the storm like Wolves did on Monday so didn't quite expect that second half effort.
-
Fair play they were better.
-

Precisely. To be fair defensively it looks like we've worked a lot on our shape since the restart but there is definitely a suspicion on us relying on players doing something magical at times. We have a lot of players capable of scoring great goals but perhaps a bit too reliant on that. Maybe it's come from having had so much money to spend I don't know. Still been a great start to the season
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him.

Totally agree. Great performance from them. They looked like they had a man or two more than us
-
their work rate was incredible, front 4 movement non stop and picking of cross field passes devisive - a masterclass - if we get out played more this season i'd be surprised. Smith taught a lesson. BUT Bamford won't score 2 like that in his career. Muhbags. At least we're not at 3 points, but we were looking like 'we'de made it' coasters.
-
I’m sick of hearing about fucking Bielsa. You would think he could turn lead into gold the way some/ most pundits go on about him.

Whoopee fucking doo. We've just had four Dean Smith masterclasses. Admire them.

Exactly lets not carried away.
-
About Smith?
-
It had to be Leeds. Why did it have to be Leeds? And with a Bamford hattrick, just why?
It's like the exact footballing polar opposite of hammering Liverpool. A hammering from Leeds and Bamford getting the match-ball.
It's somehow both a beautiful and crushing irony. I won't deny they were the better team tonight but at the same time... Leeds! Just why?!
-
I thought there were two issues tonight apart from the fact that Leeds played very well.
Firstly Dean Smith.
I thought he got his tactics completely wrong effectively he hung the two full backs out to dry .
We all know how Leeds play with two wide players and we should have had two wing backs to cover the full backs and break forward to support the forwards.
Instead we had just three midfielders and they played narrow.
In consequence the forwards got little support and the defence none.It wasn’t even changed has the second half progressed.
Secondly
Barclay didn’t get off the coach and McGinn went missing in the second half.Poor Douglas had to try and stem the flow himself.
It’s been a great start and there’s no need to panic tho I have to say I feel very flat at the moment I just hope Dean learns from his mistakes has we progress thru the season.
