Villa to continue their unbeaten run.
-
17.45 Monday 28 September 2020.
Fulham must be targeting this as one of the 8/9 wins they will need to stay up this season so let's not help them. Come on Villa for once win at Craven Cottage.
-
OK looks like Newby started one as well and I can't seem to delete this :-[
-
I can see Ramsey coming in for Hourihane 🤔
-
Sorry Mods, can we merge Aftab's thread with this please?
My apologies Aftab.
-
2-2
Always make this place tougher than it should be.
Berts and Cashy with first league goals
-
You were there 2 mins earlier than me :)
-
0-2 us.
Traore
Watkins
-
Threads merged and superfluous space removed from title.
-
Thank you.
-
Latest prematch thread ever. Just hope it augurs better than the Orange Dot ever did.
-
Would prefer to see Traore in that line-up instead of Hourihane or Trezeguet.
-
We are going to do Fulham.
FFC 0 - 2 AVFC
-
Away win and the quest to win the league gathers pace.
-
Got the score the wrong way round yet again. Must pay closer attention.
-
A win here would be extremely useful.
I feel confident but the way other results have gone this weekend who knows!
-
It's a weekend of strange results so I am worried.
-
I think we'll win this: confidence is high, attackers are in good form, defensively we've been solid. 2-1, Jack and Watkins for us, someone for them.
-

Social distancing!!
-
One of these days we are going to give someone a hiding.
-
I've been saying that for years. Still waiting. I don't count the 6-1 vs Sunderland that never happened.
-
Cheers Newby/Aftab but please let TV start the match thread as he's on a run. Assuming he does, 2-1 win to Villa and top 6.
-

Same. We’re long overdue a clean sheet away from home in the league. It’s coming tomorrow.
-

I think the match thread needs a rule. Start it three days before the game. Vill I Am made a special request, Aftab and I were performing a public service! Happily leave it to TV.

I like that 3 day rule ! And many thanks for doing this one - I find you two are lucky !
Here's hope
It's a weekend of strange results so I am worried.
Which means a win at the cottage in premier league
-
We are going to do Fulham.
FFC 0 - 2 AVFC
this result would take us 5th with a game in hand! I’ll take it! Horrible kick off time in Aus- 2.45am. I’ll watch it on the train to work
-
Would be nice to get a first win at Craven Cottage since 1597

I vaguely remember that. It was shown as a clip on an olde edition of MOTD. Black n white for all the kids. Fulham were in black and white and we were in black and white.
-
I thought we wore white and black?
-
Martinez
Targett
Mings
Konsa
Cash
Luiz
McGinn
Hourihane
Traore
Watkins
Grealish
But wouldn't be surprised if Trez doesn't start.
-
Ads you always have your defence left to right and midfield and attack the other way around. Please be consistent 😉
-
I thought we wore white and black?
Correct. Sorry.
-
We will win 3 or 4-0 and it’ll do nothing for our expectation for the season. Beat Stoke on Thursday and it’ll sky rocket even more! Luckily we have Liverpool and Leicester after that.
-
This is a game we nearly always lose both literally away to Fulham, but also if a newly promoted club need a win over last few years, enter Villa.
Also As someone else posted they will be targeting this one as one of their ‘must wins’.
Hoping villa change all this round. They’ll start strong I imagine, we weather the storm and hopefully knock stuffing out of them 2-0. Traore must start for me with Trez on bench, same team otherwise.
-

Whisper it quietly but it's a common misconception due to the BBC commentator that day pointing out that "and for those of you who are watching in black and white, Aston Villa are in claret and blue".
-
It's going to be a tough game.
That Knockaert always seems to have a blinder against us then vanishes back into obscurity. We need to keep him and Onomah under wraps.
-
I’ve a good mate here who follows Fulham. We’ve agreed to maintain radio silence until 10.00 for the match to be watched in peace. I’m staying away from social media til after then too.
-
A win would really set up the season nicely.
-
be a tough game 1-1
-
I've been saying that for years. Still waiting. I don't count the 6-1 vs Sunderland that never happened.
Did Norwich away not count then?
-
That was only 5...
-
Fulham are favourites to go down and haven’t won a game yet
that means they will be desperate for points tonight
this is a game we must go out to win
a good performance and 3 points would be massive for us and totally doable
a loss or a bad performance and a streaky draw and all the old insecurities will return
well they will in my mind anyway
0-2 Watkins & Target is my prediction
-
Aston Villa 7 (seven) does have a ring to it...

Yes, would be nice to have a score with the words in brackets again! Let's batter them, and show that we're not going to be concerned with the lower reaches this year.
-
A draw would be fine.
A win would be a bonus.
A progressive performance is a must. Not the usual two steps forwards, one step back.
-
Strangely confident of a win this evening. 0-2, Grealish, Watkins

Well it would still be an improvement on recent years, one step forward and then turning round and running the other way.
-
I'm feeling quietly confident about this one as well. I'll go for a tight 1-2 win. Watkins with both ours.
-
1-1
-
You were there 2 mins earlier than me :)
My wife always says that to me after sex ;)
Mitrovic apart I don't rate Fulham much. 2-1 Villa.
-
0-1 to us. Watkins.
-
We will win at Fulham 0-1. Whatever next best a team from Manchester???
-
We've got a tough couple of games after this one, so a win tonight would be very welcome and assure us a decent start to the season.
-
Aston Villa 7 (seven) does have a ring to it...
Ahh, brings back memories of the days when we had the most FA Cup wins.
-
Think we will win this one comfortably. Fulham have been in abject form in the league, and we look solid. Going for a 0-4 win with a Wtkins hattrick and a goal from Cash.
-
Fulham 3 penalties, Villa 4 penalties :)
-
Clean sheet would be nice, but I'll go 1-2 with a Watkins double. Would be great to be on 6 points considering our next two opponents, and it would be nice to help Fulham on their way to doing a Fulham.
-
Early indication of the season we're in for i think. Win or draw and maybe we're out of the trapdoor group, lose and the return game could be a "6-pointer"
1-3
-
Traore in for Trez and Ramsey on the bench and hopefully will get some game time. Could be up against our old mate Josh Onomah, noticed he's started both league matches, but has been subbed on both occasions.
Going for a 1 goal Villa win, with Ollie getting the winner.
-

Agreed, a win tonight and a point against Liverpool or Leicester and we might be in for a less stressful season.
-
We always play dismally down there, no matter who's in our team. I'd be happy with a draw, delighted with a win, and Jack's complete lack of surprise with a loss.
-
No home fans or "neutrals", so no need to approach this as an away game ie tentatively, when man for man we're stronger.
-
Would be nice to get a first win at Craven Cottage since 1597
Lot of trouble at this game if I remember. Tensions were running high as we were being controversially linked with signing an ancestor of Carlos Cuellar at the time. When Elizabeth I sailed past on the way to Hampton Court, some anti royalist chants started and it all kicked off.
-

What is/was this neutral stand of theirs? A place where fans of both teams could mingle, or a place where fans of neither Fulham nor the team they were playing could come and catch a game?

In theory, the latter. In practice an away end overspill.
-
Fancy us to win this 3-1. After two defeats Fulham will be charging forward as they'll target this as a must win. They were cut to pieces on counter attack by Leeds last week so we're going to have some space to play with if we can win the ball back quickly enough.
Tempted to start Traore for this.
-
1-0 win. Last minute winner. Penalty.
-
Them or us?
-
Us :)

There were always a few foreign tourists who obviously wanted to see an English football match but probably couldn’t get tickets for Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

It's the strangest arrangement i've ever sat in at a football match.
I'd say it was 60 percent us, 20 percent Fulham, 20 percent tourists when i sat there
The only other time I've had a similar thing was in the Club Wembley seats, the ones allocated to CW season ticket holders rather than in finalist allocations. At the League Cup final last year by us it was 40% Villa, 20% Man City and 40% empty seats.

Last time I was there it was at least 80% us. The foreign tourists looked somewhat bemused.

Fulham should be docked six points at the start of each season in perpetuity purely for that horrendous Michael Jackson statue.

Is it still there? Didn't it get moved to football museum in Manchester after Al Fayed sold up?

Absolutely this.
-
1-0 win. Last minute winner. Penalty.
Angel missing two in one game. Loftus Road though I think it was. Could have swung for the handsome bustard.

Craven Cottage.
Annoyingly Delaney broke his ankle In one the games at Loftus.
-
Yes, fuxking Bocanegra.
-
Yes, fuxking Bocanegra.
I remember that like it was yesterday - tosser - one of my fave players was Delaney
-
Bocanegra, a name banned in my household.
-
Darren Woolley is hanging around outside Craven Cottage to greet the team bus, just posted his pictures on Facebook. Good lad.

Yes, fuxking Bocanegra.
He broke his ankle while doing that to him?

I think Darren is a good lad as well.

We will defeat them.

It was in the National Football Museum until that Leaving Neverland documentary, and then it became a little too difficult to laugh off.
-
Can’t believe Fulham have won 6 of the last 8nafainst us and the last 3 in a row - time to change it and get things back to normal
-
A frustrating and infuriating goalless draw.
-
A draw would be fine.
A win would be a bonus.
A progressive performance is a must. Not the usual two steps forwards, one step back.
I'd take that over our regular habit of one step forward, two steps backwards.
-
Team announced.
-
Same team as v Sheffield United, disappointed Traore isn't starting. Jacob Ramsey instead of El Ghazi on bench is interesting.
Mitrovic starts for Fulham for first time in a while. Seems they're playing a 3-4-3.
