Played well, albeit against a reserve side. There's a few that are giving DS some selection questions, which is nice.
-
Great easy passage for a change. Great debut from Ramsaey.
-
Great performance. So often in cup competitions the fringe players fail to impress so great to see the likes of Davis and Ramsey doing well. Also pleased with a debut goal for Traore and yet another goal machine Watkins. Mon you Villa boys.
-
Really happy for KD, nice debut for Berts, roll on Stoke next round.
-
Marvellous - it’s going well.
-
We're a different side this season. Great to see.
-
Enjoyed that. Ramsey, Davis and Ollie all look to have a great future ahead. The talent is there.
-
Great goals. Looks like we are going to be a useful side. If we can get another couple in, bring Ramsey into the squad too, we will be decent.
-
From what I saw of it, it looked quite comfortable. Justified team selection in the end, they all played ok.
-
Professional display and one that improves upon the last with players who are not starters. And we did it all without Jack too. Special mention to young Ramsey, KD for his work leading the line and Traore who looked lovely in flashes and took that goal superbly.
-
3 wins on the spin as well.
-
BV view : Long time since since I felt so relaxed following a Villa game.
BC view : Men against girls tonight.
-
3 wins on the spin as well.
yes thank you. Match threads are 3-0 to start the season. Of course my overall record given who we have followed for all these years is utter shit but that's all in the past now.
-
Ramsey looks a proper footballer.
Balance, poise, good ball control and pace.
He's beginning to really impress me.
-
Great easy passage for a change. Great debut from Ramsaey.
Apart from his debut in the second round of course.
-
I might be wrong, but I think that might be our first away clean sheet since 1995
-
Conceded 1 goal in 360 minutes of football.
-
It’s actually since Bolton in April 2019.
-
Great easy passage for a change. Great debut from Ramsaey.
An incorrect debut game and an incorrect spelling of his name. A H&V lynching double!
-
Rammsy looks good, nobody had a bad game, House was shakey, Wadkins looks the real deal, Troare is our new messiah.

Landsbury was ok too
-
I said after the Notts County game that Traore would come good for us.
-
early days but so far this season there is a marked difference in our energy.
We are working way harder to get the ball back when we don't have it, something which was really missing last season.

Indeed, should be Ramsæy.

Paid the £10 to watch but missed the first goal as the stream wouldn't load properly on the TV so had to connect the laptop.
The coverage was ok to be fair and we were spared an expert pundit. The performance was very good all round. I couldn't really fault anyone tonight.
-
At a canter with a complete 2nd string. We are improving. It's amazing how this kind of form makes you crave the next game.
We just might have our Villa back
-
Are there any links to the goals?
-
0-3 with Elmo at CB, good stuff.
Next...

It’s actually since Bolton in April 2019.
Jesus, how embarrassing. Are Bolton even still in business these days?

My stream was fantastic from the official place.
Beat anything I’ve watched on NowTV for quality of picture.
And goals plus celebrations happened before I had score updates on my screen.
-
A good night's work for us we were comfortable all night great goal from Traore.
-
WWEMBERLEY, WWEMBERLEYYYY.
I enjoyed that, thought we played some entertaining stuff. I ended up forking out for it, and I think it was worth its tenner.
Davis' shuffles and close control for the first would have left better defenders than theirs with egg on their faces.
Traore looks like he'll be exciting, I hope we'll be solid enough to allow him the freedom to be crap on occasion without it being the end of the world. Bit disappointed not to get to see how quick he is.
And Watkins with the little hop and fist pump after scoring, the bloke just loves putting them away.
Here's hoping we can dispatch Fulham with similar aplomb.

They may be a non league side next season. Played 2 lost 2 in Division 4 this season.
-
Sad.
-
Paid to watch it, very good quality picture throughout and no issues.
Good performance, young Jacob again playing well, Nakamba looked decent enough in the holding role and Davis lead the line well.
Good start to the season and full of positivity.
Traore will be an asset, very composed on the ball, lots of pace and a decent shot on him too.
Only negative for me is Taylor, needs to be moved on quickly and a young hungry left back recruited.
All in all a good performance though.

Traore meant to cross it....😎
-
Can't remember a time when we could change a team and play so comfortably. It really looks like we have a squad at last.
-
Some decent performances tonight, plenty to be pleased about. Debut goal for Traore, another goal for Watkins, another good performance from Ramsey, another clean sheet and another win. Confidence will be pretty good amongst this squad at the moment.
-
early days but so far this season there is a marked difference in our energy.
We are working way harder to get the ball back when we don't have it, something which was really missing last season.
To me that was the biggest difference between pre- and post-lockdown.
-
We also have significantly more defensive discipline. Like players structurally know where they should be in different phases of the game.
-
Thought Traore looked very good. Big upgrade on AEG and Trezeguet.
-
Traore meant to cross it....😎
Yes it was a desperate attempt to get the ball back into the six yard box after Ramsey's totally mishit shot on goal was heading for the corner flag.
-
You can tell about Watkins that he's just obsessed with goals, and I love it. That half-dummy he sold the keeper for his goal was just such a great little thing.
-
I know it was Bristol's reserve side mostly but bloody hell Traore excites me, loads of one touch passes and quick play. Looked very good. If we got Rashica and Barclay we'd have a very good team.
-
Can't remember a time when we could change a team and play so comfortably. It really looks like we have a squad at last.
I can remember plenty of times when we changed the team and always played crap.

I can remember plenty of times when it didn’t matter who was picked as we were inevitably crap.

Very pleasing indeed. Work still to do, but things are looking up! Good to see goals coming from our forwards, great for confidence.
-
I thought we played very well and started very strongly. Could have been 4 up by the time Traore scored that fantastic goal.
Front 3 had lots of pace and movement, Ramsey looked good, defence bizarrely solid. Just...surprisingly good. Even the stream was good.
Traore played a number of reverse and through balls. Looks a good un' and that finish...amazing.

I'd play this lot and drop those big time charlie boring overpaid tossers in the first XI. Either that or review the tactics.
-
Front 3 had lots of pace and movement..
Absolutely, it was like they'd been playing together for years. The movement was excellent.
-
Are there any links to the goals?
SKY showed them just after 11pm so they will probably on the SKY website.

Here.
-
Didn't see the game but I've seen some clips and judging by those, and the media reports, it was a top class performance. Can only be good for Traore and Watkins to score, and Keinan to have another good game. Limited opponents of course but you still have to put them away.
-
My only objection to the entire evening is that we looked like we playing in a Spurs kit.
-
Fair play to them, I didn’t expect that after seeing the team. Some nice goals, good debut from Traore and a simple passage into the next round. What’s not to like?
Anyone who saw the full 90 comment on how Guilbert played?
-
Great result but let’s not get carried away at beating Bristol City reserves.
-
Can't remember a time when we could change a team and play so comfortably. It really looks like we have a squad at last.
Wasn't it the same stage of the same competition last year when we changed the entire team and best Crewe 6-0?
-
That was a round earlier; the second round.
Think we played Premier League opposition it every round other than the 2nd Round against Crewe (a draw that was seeded).
-
6-1.
-
good goals but Lets see how we do when we are not playing a championship teams reserve side
-
we’ve struggled in the past to beat these lower level reserve teams so that’s a positive
performance just as important as the result for me
good for 90 minutes which is rare
Traore looks like he has great awareness not just a head down and run fast player
Can’t understand why we are looking to move Guilbert on if indeed we are that would be a big mistake imv
Watkins the goal poacher we need
Ramsey developing well
Davis did everything but score
Hoarse still vying to become the worst player I’ve ever seen at Villa
all in all good positive night well worth the £10 spent
-
I have only seen the highlights and was impressed at how we moved the ball quickly and the passing looked much better.
only the highlights I know but on to Fulham on Monday UTV

Great result but let’s not get carried away at beating Bristol City reserves.
In recent years when we have made changes for cup games we've lost against the likes of Burton, Luton and Wycombe. Last night was light years away from such miserable nights. I'm not getting carried away but I'm getting quite excited by the direction which the club appears to be moving. You should try it.

Here here! The post match thread after Sheffield utd was like a obituary....we are winning football games people and progress in all areas is clear. There is enough going on in the world to be miserable about
-
Saw the line-up. Feared the worse. Promising from Traore. Good to see the fringe players are up for this season which is always a good sign. Can't ask for any more at this stage.
-
6-1.
Was it?
Christ! I was there and I can't remember Crewe scoring!
-
Despite the standard of opposition it was encouraging to see the amount of commitment and movement that has so often been missing in such games.
-
if the team played as well as some are saying on here - then we should put the same team out on Monday night - no changes
-

Or, you could just be happy with the performance without caveats.

Yeah mate I agree with you. It's strange how reluctant some of our fellow supporters are to enjoy any type of success or progress however small.
-
I enjoyed that. Very comfortable throughout and we could/should have scored more.
Positives:
Even with a makeshift team we looked coherent and organised.
Great goal and impressive debut from Traore
Ramsey looks class
Excellent hold up play from Keinan
Guilbert should stay
Negatives
Shame Lee Johnson isn't still around to suffer that drubbing.
-
Watching the reserves play in the same style as the first team is another small step forward. We've lost enough similar games not to play down such an achievement.
-
Winning games is always good. I know when we lose these cup games we make any number of excuses why and tell ourselves it's not a priority and so on but there's not much better than seeing a Villa team comfortably swatting a team aside. No matter who's in our team or in theirs.
-
keep Guilbert , incase Trez and El Ghazi carry on looking poor , you could bring Freddie on at RB and push Matty on the wing for 25/30 mins as he looks to have a great final ball on him . in fact he was on the left wing against us in the 5 5 draw and scored .
-

I'd replace one of the defenders on the bench with Ramsey.

Yes, at this stage Ramsey should at least be on the bench.

or just fill the empty 7th spot on there with him?

It just feels like things are starting to come together. There's a plan and it appears to be working.
-
Ha!
I think he was predicting the last spot would already be filled with an as yet unannounced new signing....
-
I like Elmo also; dependable and have good crosses. Probably not streets ahead though. Did nothing wrong as stand in CB as i remember. Lacking some pace but have good posisional sense
-
I don't mind Elmo, I had question marks over his defending when he joined but he's improved since he's bene here, far fewer silly mistakes now. However he's 33, if we're moving on one of the right backs I don't think he offers anything more than Guilbert who is 7-8 years younger and coming towards his prime rather than at the end of it. If it's a financial decision then that's fair enough I guess but in terms of squad development I'd rather keep Freddie.
That said I would be against keeping both for a year and having Elmo as an older head covering 3-4 different positions.
