The games are coming thick and fast. We should see Traore so looking forward to that. A favourable home draw vs Stoke or Gillingham should be enough incentive to hopefully see a professional display.
I’ll go for 2-0 on the night. Watkins and Conor.
-
Villa to win on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Hause for us.
-
1-0 Watkins
-
An opportunity to improve fitness and sharpness.
We are a week behind most of the others and it showed against Sheffield last night.
-
Does anyone know where we can watch it at home?
-
Will they have no fans at both ends? That won’t be fair.
-
0-2 AEG & Davis.
-
any type of win please Villa
UTV
The Doc
-
Obviously Weimann will score. So 2-1 to us.
-
Steer
Elmo Engels (if fit) Hause Taylor
Nakamba
Lansbury Ramsey
Traore Davis Watkins
-
Not a bad shout Vinnie. Gotta keep the squad players interested. I’d maybe try and get Ramsay involved at some point seeing as he supposedly did well against Burton (didn’t see the game, but heard he did well).
-
Steer
Elmo Engels (if fit) Hause Taylor
Nakamba
Lansbury Ramsey
Traore Davis Watkins
Can't see him picking Engels whether fit or not.
-
I'd go:
Steer
Cash Hause Mings Targett
McGinn Nakamba Hourihane
Traore Davis Watkins
McGinn and Targett need games to improve their fitness, neither of them look in great shape.
-
0-2 away win.
McGinn
Traore
Edited for gross stupidity and paying no real attention whatsoever.
-
I can't see him wanting to make players play 3 games in 8 days. I think he'll leave one or two in but that's it, especially if we get through and have to play the next round a week later or whenever it is.
Is it available to watch at all?
-
2-0 home win.
McGinn
Traore
Errr, we’re away.
-

Yes, here (https://carabaocup.live/)for £10, but hopefully there are tiny little rivers available.

don't bank on it. the liverpool and man city ties are listed for overseas broadcast on thursday.

2-0 home win.
McGinn
Traore
Errr, we’re away.
Maybe he means they will win courtesy of two own-goals?

Maybe I'm just an idiot.
0-2 away win.

Hooray, we get three sleeps between the two games. This was initially going to be 48 hrs after the Sheff game which is a piss take for elite athletes like Dougie and co. who are respectful of appropriate recovery times.
-
Agree with Risso. Stick Mcginn in.
1-2
-
Looking forward to this one. Hope we give it another really good go this year.
-
Steer
Elmo Engels (if fit) Hause Taylor
Nakamba
Lansbury Ramsey
Traore Davis Watkins
Nyland was picked ahead of Steer the last day so I'd expect that will continue. Would pick Hourihane or McGinn or anyone really ahead of Lansbury who is a waste of a shirt. I expect he will give AEG another go on the left.
-
Steer
Guilbert
Engels
Hause
Taylor
McGinn
Nakamba
Ramsay
Traore
Davis
Watkins
-
Lansbury and Jota will likely feature to try and get some interest in them. Put 'em in the shop window, they both have wonderful hair that any mannequin would be proud of.
-
2-1 Villa win.
-
I'd go for a similar team to Risso:
Steer
Elmo Hause Mings Targett
McGinn Nakamba Ramsay
Traore Davis AEG
-
Ramsey is going to become the new Clark(e).
-
Ramsey is going to become the new Clark(e).
Nope. Davis already took that spot, or should I say Davies.
-
With Samatta going it seems, I can’t see Ollie starting and being risked.
Play Davis, fresh with his new contract and have Watkins on the bench.
I think this will be tougher than we think and we’ll grind out a 2-1 win.
-
I’d like to see a virtual full strength team for this - we were clearly rusty Monday and it’s too early to start meaning about too many games.
I would give Steer an outing (he deserves it) and I’d like to see Freddie tried on the left in place Targett (but Smith won’t so wishful thinking). Bring Traore in for Trez. That’s the only change I’d make.
It will be a tough game. If we play the team we played against Burton, I think it’s 50/50
-
I’d like to see him play a strong team as Bristol are decent at home and this could be the proverbial banana skin. However, rusty on Monday or not, I don’t see him playing a lot of first teamsters with sheff 3 days earlier and Fulham in 4 days.
Steer
Elmo (don’t think we’ll see Guilbert again)
Taylor
Hause
Mings (our of necessity)
Nakamba
Ramsey
Lansbury
Traore
Davis
El Ghazi
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see a significantly changed team tomorrow night.
I'd probably give McGinn a run out, as he looked like he most needed minutes, and Traore 50-60 mins to get him up to speed as I'd like to see him start and leave Joe Bryan on his arse at the weekend.
Other than that, I don't think it is worth risking anyone. We had a good run in this competition last year, but with the absolutely bonkers schedule over the next few months, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we went out after giving some fringe players minutes, and avoided as much as possible this 3-games-in-8-days scenario for the first part of the season. Would be good to see Davis have a start leading the line, see Ramsey again, even maybe Louie Barry.
-
Would be shocked to see Barry involved.

Not even to take a penalty?
-
I bet that c**t Lee Johnson will be on Sky Sports

No crowds no more so home form means nowt, right ?
-
The one thing that puzzles me is this. We started a week later in the league so, it’s being said we are rusty. On the other hand, when there are 3 games in an 8 day period, we are burning ourselves out. Seems to be a problem either way. Now, if someone tells me it’s because we don’t want to risk injuries, I could live with that but, again, injuries can occur particularly if someone is not match fit. My head’s hurting trying to figure out this dilemma!!
-

They'll have to get some bigger chairs.
-
Them 0 Us 3
-
I would not involve more than 6 from the team to play Fulham and rotate those.
-
Think Brizzle are doing okay in the League, so they may rest a few first teamers
-
Nathan Baker (formerly of this parish) is out crocked until at least Christmas, which rules out the chance of an own goal or penalty for old times sake.
-
So just Weiman to worry about, for ex player certain to score then
-

Baker is injured.
Now theres a fucking surprise.
-
Great chance to progress. Hope we pick a strong team.

Lol, you beat me to it.

Is this on tv?
-
No, Sky are showing Liverpool I think.
-
Is this on tv?
You can catch it on the carabao live online site.
-
It is on Pay Per View for a tenner if you're sufficiently interested. I have no idea what the quality is like.

All the games behind that paywall site were available elsewhere tonight.
Jack Woodward was doing the commentary for the Fulham vs Wednesday match on that carabao site, which I found slightly odd.
-
Didn’t he work for Sheff Wed before coming back to us?
-
Freelance.
-
£10 is too much to charge for this £5 more appropriate.
-
Didn’t he work for Sheff Wed before coming back to us?
If I recall correctly, he's also a fan*.
*That must go down as the biggest piece of shit stored in my memory.

I remember seeing a video on Pravda from when he first came back to Villa. It was an interview with Grealish and it was proper creepy. Grealish is normally relaxed and friendly in interviews but Woodward's over-familiarity made him give out decidedly 'who that fuck are you, and what do you want?' vibes. Cringy viewing.
-
I think eastie and Jack Woodward maybe one and the same

Is the 5th Round Draw after the Liverpool game?

You could try searching footystreamz on twitter and instagram. They used to be quite good in providing links

Cheers Footy

Lineup is: Steer, Guilbert, Elmohamady, Hause, Taylor, Nakamba, J.Ramsey, Lansbury, Traore, Davis, AEG.
-
Got a bad feeling now
-
If Smith puts out a side like that, he obviously doesn't care. Just a practice match for reserves and new signings.
