Title: Season Ticket renewal
Post by: martyn ellis on August 11, 2020, 05:50:46 PM
Just had a panic on season ticket renewal (everything is so upside down these days i'd forgotten about it) and find my login details don;t work and the office is closed for the day. What's the drill? What happens before they allow fans back in? is there any modification on price. probably should wait till tomorrow to speak to someone but if anyone has any info I'd be grateful

I wouldn’t panic. I don’t think anyone will be going back to football stadiums for a while, and when they do, it will be a lottery as to who gets in and who doesn’t.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much - no vaccine = half full stadiums if we are lucky for years to come.

I think we’re fortunate that Villa are holding fire until circumstances change.

I heard West Ham are charging fans for their ST’s as normal and will refund later for the games they miss! When later might be is anyone’s guess.

Everton are reportedly looking at season tickets allowing you in for 1 in 3 games. So i'd expect something like that.

You have to attend 2 in every 3 Everton games if you've been bad.

Can see them waiting until the fixtures are announced, so that if they have to do some sort of 1 in 3 season ticket, that it's fair (or at least perceived as fair) to everybody. A mix of big and lesser games whichever 'bubble' you're in.

Has anybody who opted for a credit rather than a refund from last season heard anything yet?
I would have thought that process would have been much easier and therefore quicker to administer and complete than refunds.

a West Ham season ticket holder told me that they have been asked to pay a third upfront to guarantee a slot in the ballot for the chance to go to a game...

https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/27-july/season-ticket-renewals-open-202021-premier-league-season

3 options. All prices frozen.
•Renew now to enter a ballot for the anticipated 1 in 3 attendance, get refunded whenever you lose out.
•Transfer to a friend for a season if you feel you'll be too wary all season but don't want to lose out because of it.
•Pay a 30% deposit, no ballot, but can pay a pro-rata top up once the ground is back to 70% capacity, or if that doesn't happen it'll be carried over to the following season.

You might want to check he knows he's gotta stump up the full amount if he wants to be in the ballot!

Best method - if 1/3rd capacity select ST holders for each game (on prorata basis) and charge 1/19th cost of ST price on per game basis that you get a ticket as you would for a cup match

Not a peep.
My wife and I have a parking season ticket for the North Stand car park and I was told by @avfcsupport on Twitter that won't be credited until the season tickets refunds/credit have been done.

I posted this elsewhere, but I’ve had three separate refunds totalling around £60.

It doesn’t make any sense and it’s nowhere near what I’m due for my and my lads ST’s.

Very strange.

I would assume that whatever they do for the reduced capacity period, once full capacity is allowed again all season ticket holders from last season will get an opportunity to renew on the seats held before Covid?  I'd like to go to some games if given the chance, but first and foremost I want my old seat back long term.

Post by: Marlon From Bearwood on August 17, 2020, 02:43:02 PM
There was a big piece on the Athletic yesterday about how clubs are planning for the return of fans. In a nutshell, as a ST holder you probably won’t be in the same block as your usual seat so can forget about getting your normal seat back for the foreseeable future. You’ll get what you’re given.

Initial capacities will be based primarily on the size of the concourse beneath the stand and / or ability to build temporary concourse facilities in the space directly outside. Good news for Holte, Trinity but bad news for North and DE stands, I’d guess.

I don't mind not having my seat during the disruption period, but I want first refusal on it when we're back to normality.  I'm sure that will be the case.

Wolves are currently asking ST holder who want to sit with others from different households to register these ‘bubbles’. Makes sense. There are 5 of us over three households. Expect we will do something similar.

It was a Roman fort, if you mean Pimple Hill on the other side of the Collector Rd? The little white cottage on the old Chester Rd, where they have the traffic calming bit used to be a shop and was called 'The Castle' but that's about it.

It's very odd that they couldn't refund them all in the same way.

That might explain staggering the payments overall, but not why each refund is then split into 6 transactions (2 per day over 3 days)

Finally got the last 2 of 7 payments yesterday refunding an adult and an elders ST.

I’m guessing the staged refunds was more to do with an automated system, they are set up to pay back (minus a cut) for re-sold Tix. So perhaps a similar system?

I think it’s because the mechanism already exists to refund individual games but not to send a ‘random looking’ figure to people.

I don't know what the predicted arrangements are for 2020/21, so I've written the following, but the only e-mail address I have is reception@avfc.co.uk . Anyone know of a more precise target for Season Ticket policy at AVFC?

Re: Aston Villa Season Ticket Arrangements for 2020/21?

F.A.O.  Head of Ticketing/Season Tickets
Hi,
My wife (id: 107879) and myself (id: 83217) have been Villa season ticket holders for 20 + years and supporters for many decades before then.  As is evident, we are in the over 65/ senior category and potentially we are in the ‘proceed with caution!’ zone in this time of Covid (although we are both in good health, I’m glad to say).

We are situated in the B5 block of the Trinity stand and over these many years (through good times and not so good times…!) we have built up a rapport and friendships with the people around us.  While we might all be scared of Covid, what terrifies us (and that includes a fair number of the people around our seating area) more is that forthcoming arrangements might deprive us of our precious seats and our ‘neighbours’, because we might be denied a season ticket altogether because of age and stadium capacity restrictions until the virus can be successfully combatted by a vaccine.

As the most optimistic prediction suggests that it would be Spring of 2021 before a vaccine could be produced and shown to be effective, could we possibly make some suggestions (and a plea!) as to what might be a strategy for people like ourselves who could be denied our precious season tickets and location to follow the club we love?

•   We could, say, pay half of the cost of the forthcoming season ticket (£150/£160’ish?) and for that we would be guaranteed the ‘preservation’ of our allocated seats and AVFC would supply us with codes to access home games via Sky, Amazon, BT etc. (the club to arrange a deal with these companies using the revenue from our season ticket payments)?  (We currently have a ‘Now’ £10game-by-game subscription.)   n.b We were very grateful for the similar scheme the club put in place for the games after the lockdown.

•   Our Season Tickets would not be activated during the time of stadium restrictions, so this would allow the club to make those seats available to non-season ticket holders on a game –by-game basis, when there is an improving, partial relaxation. This would also prevent Season Ticket holders loaning their cards (informally) to family and friends and avoids abuse of the system and maintains a revenue stream for the club.

•   Should there be a national relaxation of stadium limits because of a vastly improved situation, say by the Spring of 2021, we could be given the option of paying the balance of the full (concessionary) cost of our Season Tickets and they would be activated by the club accordingly and we could attend as normal.  This would prevent the club from any loss of revenue when full attendance is permitted and give those Season ticket holders the option to fully renew.

•   As we are all hoping, season 2021/2022 will take place under normal conditions and those of us who have subscribed to this 2020/2021 ‘Covid’ scheme would be able to take up their regular seats again without any break in continuity.

•   Such a scheme would show the club’s social awareness during this distressing time and demonstrate their loyalty to the ‘family’ of fans who have followed the team through ‘thick and thin’ over many years.
I hope that these ideas make a positive contribution to the consideration of what are the ways forward for the club when considering the problem of maintaining revenue and the continuity of the vast number of fans who are fearful of losing their cherished place in the fortunes of the club.

UTV!

I would hope non of this is really necessary.  I would imagine the club will sell seats as and when they can, but when the stadium gets back to full capacity previous ST holders will get first dibbs on their previous seats.  I can't see any other equitable solution.

That seems similar to what West Ham (https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/28-july/update-202021-season-ticket-renewal-options) are doing. However, I think there's some wishful thinking going on if you think the club will cover the pay-per-view telly costs!

Has anybody who opted for a credit rather than a refund from last season heard anything yet?
I would have thought that process would have been much easier and therefore quicker to administer and complete than refunds.
I have heard nothing. I want my money back now especially if the ground is to remain closed to fans.

I decided to let the Club keep my money for the 3 season tickets as a debt to be settled on upon renewal.
So did I as I didn't read the notice properly. Will they announce season ticket sales or wait until fans are let back into the grounds which may be never!
I also didn't read it properly. The refund option was hidden at the bottom.

The club tweeted a reply to somebody yesterday with regards to this. They said if you asked for a credit on your account rather than a refund you would receive this before the 12th September. No idea if that’s in the form of a voucher or a credit on your online account.

I went for - let anyone enter the ballot for tickets, but you have to wait 3 games before you can be in the ballot again after winning.

I’d like to prioritise season ticket holders/ long terms fans, but I don’t think the game can afford to be excluding any potential supporters so completely because you never know whether you can get them back.

As an example, I’ve only just started to take my 6 year old nephew to the odd game, & I wouldn’t like home to have ‘no chance’ of going to a game for the foreseeable because it’s an easy way for him to potentially lose interest. There’ll be a lot of people with kids who are the same.

Also - we have loads of non-season ticket holders that make a fantastic effort to see Villa, travelling from distance, that maybe don’t deserve to be excluded either. Or maybe elderly fans, that can’t go to all the games either physically or financially, but would still deserve a chance to get to the odd game.

So in the end, whilst I can see the merits of prioritising ST holders, I thought everyone should have a chance, & maybe just suspend the whole season ticket idea for this year & offer a season’s TV package instead.

You can accept their reassurance. I went to one match last season what with all the TV changes balling up the ones I wanted to go to and I got the survey. Can't remember what I put for priority but I did go for the wait three games option if you win a ballot.
Title: Re: Season Ticket renewal

At most the club will look to allocate 10k per game to season ticket holders & 2.5k to the general support. Which means ST holders can get to at least 1 in 3 games. However, by October we could be in a very different position with this virus than we are now.

Given a large number of ST holders would be very wary of attending under any circumstances, myself included. With the increase of unemployment coming & an overall tightening of belts a lot of people simply won't have the money or won't take the risk.

I took the option of the e-voucher which should have been emailed to me by today as this is the 90 day deadline.
I did email the club a couple of days ago and they assured me it would be sent by today.
I suppose they still have just under 4 hours to send it me but I won’t hold my breath.
Quite frankly it’s appalling service by the club who emailed me months ago telling me what I’d be getting back so why so long?
And now they want a fiver to watch a friendly played hours ago....absolute joke!!!

I didn't particularly wanted to watch it but not accepting that charge was nothing to do with the Villa. We were hosting the match and it should have been our decision but we allowed ourselves to be bullied by another club.
I am hoping that we at least shared the MUTV worldwide revenue?

And while we're moaning about our continuing technical ineptitude, (1) it took me half an hour after paying for yesterday's game for the site to stop telling me I was blocked and finally let me watch it, and (2) the new synced calendar is a) shit in that it makes no distinction between the men's and women's fixtures, but also b) wrong, no mention of the Burton game and seemingly oblivious to not only the fact that our first two league games have been moved to the Mondays, it also can't decide if the Fulham game is on Saturday or Sunday.

Has anyone got a contact number for me to talk to someone about my refund. All the club numbers, ticket office and reception, are automated or closed. I suspect a lot of staff are working at home. Email is not my preferred method of contact.

Club has announced that they will not be issuing season tickets this season but will run ballots if/when a limited number of fans can attend games.

They have also clarified, on Twitter, that if you are successful in a ballot you can't enter another one until all season ticket holders have been successful. Sounds fair enough although you can forget being allowed back in this season for sure sadly.

"we can confirm that 2019/20 Season Ticket Holders will have their seats held for them to use again once there is a full return to the pre-COVID capacities"

As you would expect, but good news and will stop some people worrying.

All seems sensible, and fair, though sad.

I elected to carry my credit forward (rather than have a refund) because at the time I thought I'd be able to reduce the price of my next one, would soften the blow of the payment then.

Now I've got vouchers for me and my wife with an expiry date, and I can enter a ballot but if I win one I can't enter again until everyone has won one (this is fair enough). Each one I win I presume I can spend one of the vouchers against the ticket? So got to win six ballots to spend all the vouchers before they expire .....and is there going to be a way for us to apply as a couple? ie if we go we want to go together, not win ballots for separate games .

Wish I'd just opted for the refund now, would have been cleaner.

I'm 100% sure the club won't leave fans out of pocket with expired vouchers if the have been unable or unwilling to spend them on attending games before the expiry date.

Yes I am sure the Club would extend or reissue credit vouchers. I have gone for the same option. It is likely that we will be back in ground as normal about March time so plenty of game to use up credit vouchers.

Our deadly rivals, Newcastle, are apparently still taking supporters money via Direct Debits.

Quite a few clubs have hone down the same route as us (which I’m thankful for) - so no surprise that Mike Ashley and the West Ham lot haven’t.

Staggering really that imagining another few months of no crowd trials and maybe only 8-10 games where limited home support can attend then I think any st holders will get 1 game each this year (if wanted).

I will be stunned if there’s a
Single game this season where any fans are allowed
In.

It’s
Looking more like 2022-23 season for some fans back .
