I would have thought this deserves it's own thread.
We’re appointing Rob MacKenzie, formerly of Leicester and Spurs to our Scouting group. He will be head of recruitment apparently

Does anyone know much about him? Ex Leicester and Tottenham and responsiblke for the likes of Mahrez, Son etc. Positive move?

Knowing our luck, he’ll be the one that suggested Slimani and Soldado.

Set of articles written by him about modern scouting: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/10723863/the-changing-face-of-scouting-rob-mackenzies-full-series-of-articles
I found them interesting anyway

I don't think there has been a better club in the Premier League for recruitment than Leicester in recent years. I know that their old defender Steve Walsh was a big part of that but he moved to the same role at Everton and wasn't so successful.

I think it was a different Steve Walsh, mate.

Does anyone know why this fella left Spurs/Leicester ?
-
Recruited?
Ha! I just stepped straight into that one! ;D
Well, it’s too hot for thinking in this here London.

The focus should be mainly on the first team but encouragingly the club are taking positive steps in improving other areas, getting the successful Baggies head of academy development,Derby's under 16/18 coach, signing Louie Barry and 2 other players with European youth international credentials.
Just as after years of slumber in the 60s we made huge strides in the 70s ,it seems the same now after over a decade of stagnation.

Yes excellent read, glad we’ve got him!

Has it been confirmed we have?
-
Announced on the Official Site yesterday.
-
Ah thanks.
-
Interesting to read those articles that Mackenzie wrote.

I thought recruiting football talent was the job of our DoF?
-
Do will still offer the position of DoF?
It may be part of the Sporting Director role.

With this guy, and the new Suso, it does rather point to us trying to build and find players that are able to come in and grow over time.

You’d hope so.
As a general rule the transfer budget should be split, I dunno, 60/40. 60% to address the first team and largely dictated by the Head Coach and looking for two/three players (he should definitely be identifying the positions).
The other 40% should be on players for the future, so succession planning and youngsters Who will grow. This is where the Head of Recruitment earns his beer money.
