Yep DS was hinting Reina would be back in.

Trez and AEG both starting is a bit of a shock.

Wtf is that.

I completely forgot about Lansbury.

Smith has lost the plot. Totally agree about 2 right backs on bench. I can only think playing Reina is part of the deal so he plays at Anfield as he certainly does not deserve to be in the team.

Awful team. The least threatening front three in living memory. A non-scoring striker and two non-scoring wingers who are slow and can’t beat a man. This has 6-0 all over it.

Our chances of getting something from this with whatever team was put out was going to be minimal but I just don't see what our 'wingers' have shown to justify their inclusion.

Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are going to have a field day.

What’s his alternative! Davis has been a better striker than samatta.

Aeg and trez are frustrating to say the least and not good enough but who else

Who on that bench could come in.

We are a shambles of a squad the recruitment has been a disgrace and every week it shows

When we go to be stuck with this squad omnibus Grealish McGinn Douglas and Mings is frightening

The way people talk on these match threads is like we've got Mellberg, Laursen and Ashley Young on the bench.

We can be equally bad with Jota, Guilbert etc starting instead if people like, it's tough putting out a side that people fancy to get anything in a game like this, or most games at this level for that matter.

You regard AEG and Trez as attackers??? The stats tell the story. This is a selection designed to limit damage - and that in my court is cowardly. No adventure at all. Same old same old and as a result, result and performance are inevitable

Not the kids after a champion medal this time then? Below 6 will be a victory as they will be up for this. Comparing our fielded side to our benched players is irrelevant. Who would we honestly bring on to make much of a difference. Annoyingly we won’t get anything out of this game other than another humiliation if Liverpool turn up.

As opposed to other players not wanting the ball because they are under-confident or just crap.  Absolute nonsense.  Perhaps it also because we can get the ball in the box and hope for the centre halves to win a ball every once in a blue moon.

Souness called it right: JG gets fouled so much because he is not seeing the bigger the picture and holding onto the ball too much.
That's a very succinct description of JG's recent ineffectiveness.

Or maybe he does see the bigger picture and theres nothing going on in it.

That’s the sum of it. Will have to swap to wm. Or keep watching this thread

WM had the Albion game so that's why i'm on this, dunno if we're on DAB as I don't have that.

It is but think it’s on fm after stripey game.

McGinn is a shadow of his former self.

He looks woefully out of shape and just off in every sense of the word. Right now he doesn’t look a starting PL player. More a PL squad player to be brought on late to add some energy in the last 20 or a top championship talent.

Very encouraging.

Think we've kept our shape and let them have the percentage ball out wide. McGinn growing into it, Dougie good. Trez is a disappointment, that silly hack gave them a good potential opening and he's wasted two balls.

The sort of organisation away from home all year would have us with more points.

we don’t deserve to be losing. But we don’t deserve anything else if that makes sense.

Our team balance just isn’t there. Our wingers are dreadful, our strikers can’t do anything. Defence is prone to lapses.

We have looked good and disciplined for 98% of the time. Just the 2% that has cost us again.

For a good while now we literally have zero attacking invention. Whatever we showed in terms of creativity earlier in the season has been scouted and we haven’t adjusted or improved. At this level you have to evolve and improve. This is where Dean Smith has been outthought at this level. He has nothing at all now to go into games because the other teams know just how we will play and what to do about it. Throw in that our players for the most part aren’t good enough and that stopping Jack means stopping us. We are horribly predictable.

I’m going to stick to my opinion...

Last season was too early for us to get promoted. We needed the extra season to rebuild, gain understanding and develop. Sadly, we can’t do that in the Premier League. Coupled that with a dreadful transfer policy, money spunked all up the walls on what is effectively garbage...

If we get relegated again, it will be time to rebuild. Again.
