Title: Privacy Policy and Data Breach
Post by: Legion on April 11, 2020, 01:51:52 PM
Sorry to be a nuisance but I was surprisingly logged out this morning. I use the Forever setting. Upon logging in I had to agree to a Privacy Policy, which is all well and good, but I also received a Google notification that a data breach had occurred and my password had been compromised.

I have carried out a number of upgrades which included improvements to security and changes in how the login cookies are controlled so that might be the reason for the Google notice although there have been no other reports of this issue on the forum software site.

Upgrades also included support for Privacy and Registration to include GDPR which is why you had to login again.

Also note that l am working on the sites themes/templates so you may have to login again (or more than once) at some point.

It's possibly because you're using the same password for this site that you've used on another site that may have had a data breach in the past.

Google chrome keeps track of your passwords and cross-references them with other sites you've used that password on, and sites that have had data breaches.

A change of password is usually the solution.
