Title: Lower Holte row z
Post by: Madferret62 on February 16, 2020, 11:54:54 PM
So if you were the two blokes sat in seats x and x who thought it was funny to bellow about Yids and mad3 hissing noises and then had a go at my wife for reporting your vile racism FUCK YOU. We’ ll “grass” on you again and again and again until scum like you are driven from VP. Enjoy your ban which you richly deserve.

Btw if you threaten me again I will happily take you up on your offer. You are both cowards and racist scum.

EDIT: Seat numbers removed so as not to jeopardise any further action.

Well done mate, this stuff needs to be called out for what it is. I was a called a c*nt in front of my 12 year old daughter at the Leicester game. Unfortunately we have some horrible followers, I suppose it's a reflection on society as a whole.

Good on you mate. Hopefully long bans follow for those cavemen.

Something interesting (to me) happened on the walk up yesterday. It was about 1.40pm, obviously very busy on Witton Lane. Lots of Spurs fans mingling about before heading in.

Now I don't know anything about Spurs and their claim to the "Y" word. All I know is that they started singing it, as they do, and it was the vast majority.

Now here's the interesting bit. A family walked past me, Dad, Mum and a kid of about 8 years old, ish.

The main group of fans started singing Y Army to which the young kid, but neither parent, noisily joined in. They carried on, obviously all completely normal to them.

There are many Spurs fans that think it is OK to ‘reclaim’ that word but not all of them are Jewish, and there are many others that don’t think it’s OK.

....but in the context of opposing fans using it ‘against’ them and accompanying it with hissing noises there is no debate.

Yid Army is their hooligan 'firm', another thing that you'd hope we've seen the back of. I think we probably have for the most part but some fans still like to pretend it seems. I think it's supposed to be intimidating or something. Our lot used to chant 'Villa Youth', maybe still do but i haven't heard it for a long time.

I'd have left their seat numbers in so that people could keep an eye out for them.  If you have any more threats, just tell us on here.  There'll be no shortage of people more than willing to have your back.

A good few years ago the same thing happened near me with two idiots. I told them they were out of order and to stop their "banter" as they called it. They continued so I wrote to the club which resulted in the police contacting me.  They wanted to take it further but I thought a few hours in a cell and questioning might be enough to get the message across to them. They were back in their same seats for the next game acting defiantly and as though they'd done nothing wrong.  I reminded them that any repeat of their previous actions and I would take it further.  Never seen them again after that and assume they've stopped going or have moved to a different part of the ground.  I seem to recall they were from Telford or around there.

First off I just gave him a look which made it clear I wasn’t happy and he just smirked and said ‘I’m German - me - look it up they’re called Yids in the dictionary’.

Sometimes a ‘look’ is enough in such situations - I once shut down a group of about 15 lads singing the Tracey Andrews song with one of my ‘looks’ - I think I can have quite a stern one!

However - he carried on but it became clear that he was now doing it more to wind me up than anything else.

I went to the steward and reported him rather than get into an argument.

When I came back he was repeatedly calling me a grass but I tried to ignore him and carry on watching the game. Then his mate said ‘If you don’t like it don’t come down the match’ - & for some reason that was the thing that made me lose it!

I shouted at him that I was a grass & I’d grass him again and again and that it was him that shouldn’t be at the match.

My husband pulled me away & he started on my husband - offering him out.

The steward arrived and calmed it down but by that point I was shouting at him too. I said that when we report racism we should be protected and I shouldn’t have had to put up with that.
Then at that moment Spurs scored the winner - which was crap but diffused then situation because they left. I just sat there feeling completely sick about the whole incident and losing the game all at once. It was like falling down a massive hole!

The steward asked if I wanted to make a statement and people in front of me then turned round and said ‘Yes she f-in does!’ & I felt glad to have some support at that point. They only spoke to me though.

It’s horrible to kind of dread going back to the seat I have had for 16 years now, but I had promised myself I wouldn’t let racism go by me anymore & I am glad I stood by that.

There's been some discussion over this matter in the last few days, following the OED extending their definition. THFC are not happy. talksport (https://talksport.com/football/668945/tottenham-oxford-english-dictionary-oed-yiddo-yid/) have a good concise piece on the matter.

However, anyone one that thinks its inclusion somehow justifies its use is obviously an arsehole.

Thank you so much for being so brave and acting on it. I know some might just see it as winding Spurs fans up but gassing noises, when you think about what they're imitating, that's probably the most disgusting thing someone could do. Genuinely, thank you.

Full respect to Madferret62 and amfy for their brave stand.  I think this whole topic and the exchanges it's generated should be forwarded to the Spurs fans' websites, just in case they were subjected to similar behaviour we don't know about by arseholes masquerading as Villa 'fans'.

I remember either seeing or reading an interview with Christian Purslow where he said the club would be clamping down on antisocial behaviour - and I don't think he was even referring to stuff as bad as this - so I think it's important something written goes into the club rather than just relying on a steward, so that it makes its way to him.

Also, I'm glad to see you've removed the seat numbers as you never know if this is a season ticket re-sale - my Dad and I re-sold our tickets for the Spurs game as we couldn't make it (not in the Holte) and I'd hate to see our seat numbers online associated with this sort of scum-baggery.

It takes a lot to stand up to people in the ground, so well done to you both.

Whilst I seen some anti social behaviour in the ground, fortunately I haven’t any racism for quite some time. However, sadly it seems that it’s becoming more prevalent again and people who think this way are becoming more confident in spurting their bile in public.

Well done again

We had a similar incident, one off not persistant but a previous offender apparently, earlier in the season.

The club were fast and very good, promised interim action pending WMP outcome. I’m confident they will act, but I would get in touch and request to know what is happening. As long as you are prepared to be a witness he’ll get done. We got everyone around to report it - on the night, kick it out app, email next day. Not been seen since.

In fairness the club is pretty good at dealing quickly with this sort of intolerant behaviour.

All I say to anyone is if they ever want to report anything then go directly to a Senior Steward (they all wear yellow coats and are a minimum of 2 per stand) and they can support you as they all now wear live video cameras which is used in any confrontation with supporters that may require back up evidence.

Hi

Tottenham supporters  identify themselves as yids and have done since the 70s, before this other team's especially London ones would chant yid at spurs. So Tottenham fans started to call themselves yids,  its part of their identity.

I'm not for grassing,  it won't go down well you won't be popular.

I see it’s half term again and the working class salt of the earth British racists are out in force again. These two events are not necessarily related.

Hi

Tottenham supporters  identify themselves as yids and have done since the 70s, before this other team's especially London ones would chant yid at spurs. So Tottenham fans started to call themselves yids,  its part of their identity.

I'm not for grassing,  it won't go down well you won't be popular.

Whether some spurs have for generations reclaimed the word ‘Yid’ isn’t the point. The point it was being used by presumably non Jewish people alongside gassing noises, presumably relating to the holocaust, ignorant and racist end of.

What you’ve said above aligns with some black people reclaiming the N word and then saying that it’s perfectly acceptable for me as a white man to use that word.

I grew up on a multi cultural council estate in inner city brum and cannot for the life of me understand people who hate and then try and justify it

your out touch punjabis have started to leave southall due to somalian immigrants,  most have gone to Slough and Langley.  Their community had representatives on the edl scene.

I only come on here for EDL updates.

twat alert !!
you are denying people of their identity, Tottenham of their Jewish heritage,  and working class villa fans , we take the piss and say  non politically correct things.

I am well aware that some Spurs fans identify with the term ‘Yid’, Not all of them are of Jewish heritage and have any right to, whilst some others who are of Jewish heritage would prefer they didn’t. It’s a mixed bag.

My own perspective is not one of ‘political correctness’ but of having my husband, of Jewish heritage, who lost relatives to the gas chambers they were impersonating with their hissing, and does not identify with the term ‘Yid’, especially not in the way it was used by the bloke to my left.

I didn’t do it to be popular, but my tweet about my experience seems to find far more people (from well outside my usual modest following) who think I did the right thing than wrong.

Nonetheless, I’m well aware I’ve put myself in a difficult position because there’ll be people who see it your way, but that’s what I needed to do.

And you did exactly the right thing. You should stand tall and be proud. And we and other Villa fans and the club will too.

We'll done to you both.

Two sides of the same coin.

Punjabi dozi or whatever he's calling himself this week is a foot soldier in the military wing of the energy supplier.

I went too far south of the river, fell off the edge of the earth and then found myself in a strange land miles away from anywhere.

Celebrating the holocaust with hissing noises is about as low and in bad taste as you can get, utterly revolting. I would have been surprised if someone hadn't complained about that to be honest.

Only just catching up on this.

This incident brings back memories of a very similar experience, albeit in 94. We were in the North Stand ('family') and there were fans whop were temprorarily there due to the Hotle End reconstruction. The racist abuse of our black players had been building, but in the game against Sheffield Wed it reached its worst. Having asked them to desist, especially as it was the family stand, they refused, continued and then threatened to knock me and my brother out.

We had to move along with my young nephew at half time, got no backup from the stewards, and when I reported it to the club, they were able to corroborate the events, but as they only agreed to write to the offenders but not ban them, they suggested we moved to the Trinity Road for the rest of the season and pay the difference in price!

I thought those days were in the past but obviously not, but well done to Amfy for calling them out. This season, my daughter has challenged a couple of racists at Selhurst Park (aimed at Zaha) and then for the Konsa song at VP, but fortunately without the aggressive response.
