Saturday 1st February, 3pm kick off.

Massive game, hoping for another signing or two to supplement the numbers and the quality.  Tyrone Mings is due a goal!

It's important that we are not affected by the high of Tuesday night result and remember we are in serious predicament in the League. Due to the winter break there are not a lot of matches between now and the cup final but we need to forget that and get on with the job of gathering as many points as we can. Concentrate Villa boys this is a very important match. Fight fight  fight.... 3 points please.

Dean put's a lot of emphasis on emotional control so I think that may have been the focus post Wembley celebrations. If you add in the confidence and the fact that players may be playing for a place in the final line-up we should be strong. We've been where Bournemouth are now plenty of times, fragile, devoid of confidence and desperate for a positive result.

The bandwagon to keep rolling at 0-2.

I thought before the Brighton match we needed at least 7 points from Brighton, Watford and Bournemouth. We're on track for this, so 3 points tomorrow would be very welcome. It would open up a nice gap between us and the bottom 3 and drag some of those teams on 30 points back to within a game's result of us. UTV!!

Villa win. 2 - 1. You can get 3.5 for us to win at the moment - that looks like great value.

No stats to back this up- just my perception, but I think we usually suffer a hangover when we do well in cups. But...I’ve gone for a Villa win. Hopefully Samagoal will get one and another from either El Ghazi or Hourihane if either of them feature. Bournemouth to score first. 2-1 Villa!!

This is our most important game of the season by far, I would say it will define our season.
A win takes us into the break in great form and a gap in the bottom of the table, a loss drags us right back in it until the end of the season probably.
I hope Smith is drumming into the team to match the intensity that Bournemouth will undoubtebly show early on, plenty of agression and yes fouls to break up play.
The longer we keep them from scoring their crowd will get more edgy and in that scenario I can see us scoring on the break.
A simply must not lose game.

A draw would be reasonable. Looking at the goals against Brighton they were more about Brightons errors than Bournemouth carving them up, however we didn't do too well against Brighton. Strangely before the 3-1 win, their problem was scoring goals. Lets hope we keep it that way. Score first and I think they might fold.

Yep, Bournemouth's decline linked to Dominic Solanke starting, he is rubbish. Massively hyped because he scored some goals for England youth teams.

Both sides are a bit pish defensively, so can see a 2-2 or 3-3 even.

With our run of fixtures coming up it's one we could really do with winning but absolutely cannot afford to lose.

I think the back 3 are beginning to gel. Jack's in great form. Nakamba and Luiz are playing better after fading over NOV/DEC. Samatta coming on board gave the atmos a lift too. There's goals in Trez and AEG from wide. The turnaround has started. Avoid silly errors, stay focused and play to our strengths and we'll win. I think we're due to give someone a bit of a thudding in the league.

0-3 (Jack, Samatta, Davis).
UTV.

(Yes, I still haven't come back to Earth after midweek).

Wouldn't surprise me to see the midfield two keep their place. It's a question of whether they can bring the same level of energy and aggression. Nakamba in particular I feel has really shaken off his poor form.

Bournemouth are weakest when they're out of possession higher up the pitch. Their midfield 4 are easily bypassed and you're exposing their back four, with acres of room.

Tuesday has got to bring confidence.

That’s my feeling too, essentially Ads team with drinkwater instead of Luiz for 60 mins. Saying that I thought Luiz was superb for around 70 mins on Tuesday, probs his best game for us.

Even taking into account them beating Brighton last time out, I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get a result here. Think they’ll score though, think it was linekar pointed out Callum Wilson’s a streaky striker, now he has one he may get one today. I fancy us to get two or three though, 🤞

Come on the Villa boys, 3 points today please! Tuesday night was brilliant coming after the Watford result, but we need to be totally focussed today. 3 points and we'll pull further away from the drop zone and bring some of the clubs on 30 points to within a game's reach of us. A draw wouldn't be a bad result but it keeps us too close to the bottom 3 for comfort. We cannot lose not least because we need to avenge our Villa Park defeat to them but also they would then be the only team from 12th position down to have taken maximum points from us. We could also drop into the bottom 3. Everybody needs to be up for this game, management and players alike, so come on boys! UTV!

Hopefully Samatta can get off the mark this afternoon. I suspect he might turn out to be quite good. Despite clearly being well short of match fitness and sharpness, his movement was decent and he got into some good positions. Held it up and laid it off to teammates effectively enough too.

A fast Villa start? Well it's horribly overdue! ;)

I'd actually snap umpteen hands off for a point this arvo. Clearly a win would be fantastic, but I'm fully expecting B-muff to be fired-up from the off & fight like their future(s) depend on it (which it/they obviously does/do). Hopefully we'll be bang up for this & keep it going after Tuesday's magnificent scenes.

Come on me babbies!

That's what I'd go with too.  If we must continue with Drinkwater, he'd be better coming on later when the opposition are more tired, and he can get 30 minutes to continue his fitness improvement.

I think Bournemouth are going to slip down. Fans will also be disappointed with their window. Given their recent form it seems a little bit like a white flag. No one down the bottom end has had a great window. A few of our rivals have potential matchwinners like Bowen I suppose. We'll see. Howe's done brilliantly there but I think he's getting to a stage where he's running thin on ideas and teams of sort of got used to Bournemouth now. They've punched way above weight and it may catch up with them. I think this is the kind of game that defines our season. You have to kick these sides when they're on the slope. We need to be ruthless. Brighton, Watford, Bournemouth have probably all over achieved since coming up, so it's about getting points off them because on balance we have better players and I think Grealish is a major ace in the deck.

Wonder could Davis start ahead of Samatta? Away from home his ability to hold the ball up could be invaluable. Then Samatta on around the 60min mark or so when the game opens up. I'm not a fan of starting Drinkwater and wait for him to gas completely before bringing in Luiz. Hope Smith gives Luiz the start today.

Huge game and possibly a bit of a come down from Tues night. Can't afford to lose, 2-2.
