Sunday was up there with as bad as it gets, but have we ever been 0-4 down at half-time at home before?
Liverpool 0-6 was grim too and we looked even worse.
Any other horror stories?

Somebody by me mentioned about had we been 4 down at home at half time before. What was the HT score in the Woodcock game?
As bad as it was, it still wasn't a patch on the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' game.
-
It was 1-4 at HT v Arsenal in the Woodcock game.
0-5 v Forest in '84 was shit, can't remember the HT score mind.
1-5 v Citeh in '91 was another although only 0-2 at HT
0-4 v Blackburn in '97, it was 0-3 at HT. The 0 and the 4 flattered us.

Even though it was 35+ years ago, I remember it was only 1-0 at half time against Forest (Ian Bowyer) and they pummelled us in the 2nd (Trevor Christie hat trick & a certain S.Hodge!)

Another here for Blackburn. Me and my old man got in the ground extra early as we worried about midweek traffic on the M1. By half time we wished we were stuck in traffic.
-
The Woodcock game finished Arsenal 2 Villa 6. I think Tony Morley got one of our goals. I think Liverpool and Luton took the heat off us a bit that day as if I remember right Liverpool beat Luton 6-0 with Ian Rush also scoring five goals that day.
Losing 0-5 at home to Bradford in the Simod Cup (or whatever it was called that year) in front of a few thousand in the early SGT days was pretty grim.
-
Man City at home 1991 we lost 5-1. If memory serves David White either got all five or at least four for them. Think this was the game that afterwards the Mail had the headline "For God's Sake Go Jo" aimed at Venglos.
-
Coventry at home 1-4 wasn't pretty either in 1999. Inside or outside the ground!
-
For the record, the last time we were 4-0 down at half time & at home was 17th Sept 1966, 4 down against Chelsea and ended up losing 2-6, Bobby Tambling scored 5 of them

This either never touched or has been erased from my memory.
I see they are in contention for promotion from Div 1 ???
We could be renewing hostilities next season with 2 trips to the Sty

I was at both of these, but have no recollection of the Blackburn game. The city game was as bad as it gets against a shit team.

I remember the City game, as I was walking across Aston Park afterwards, all I could hear was that blue moon song being sung by their lot, did one of their players score 4?
The following day on the front page of the Mail was the headline about Mr Venglos, (cant remember the exact wording) - but it was telling him to leave!

I was at the game but I had to look it up as my memory was telling me White got all five goals whereas he actually got four and Brennan got the other. I vaguely remember Brennan, I think they got him from Ipswich.

I was at the front of The Holte for that. When we scored two early(ish) in the second half my 13 year old self was convinced we’d go on to win. D’oh.

I was at that one. In the Trinity Road standing enclosure level with the half way line. A grim result in a grim season ending in relegation and exile from the top division for 8 long years.
Attendance was just over 18,000.
The good feel factor of the 60s bypassed Villa.

A week after that Chelsea game we lost 5-0 at Leicester. That season we also lost 6-1 at Stoke, 5-1 at Fulham, 6-2 at Southampton in the league and 6-1 away to Albion in the LC.

6-2 defeat at home followed by a 5-0 away defeat, we then lost at home again this time to Liverpool. :(
So at this low point, my Dad decides it time to introduce me to Villa Park. :o
We beat Leeds 3-0 and go on an unbeaten 6 match home run including a 2-1 win against Man U. :)
But still get relegated losing at home 4-2 to Everton with my Dad going mad about Alan Ball disrespecting us wiping his nose on the corner flag ! :'(

One that sticks in my memory is the 5-3 home defeat by Portsmouth in January 1970, which saw the end of Tommy Doc.
It was 2-2 at halftime, but an early goal and two late ones in the second half killed us off.
Docherty was forever tinkling with formation and players, and in this game played three centre backs in Turnbull, Curtis and Edwards, with youngsters Barry Lynch and Jimmy Brown, and midget Dave Rudge as a centre forward.
Bruce Rioch scored two, and Willie Anderson with the other.
Phillips: Wright, Lynch (Martin):Turnbull, Curtis, Edwards: Anderson, Godfrey, Rudge, Brown, Rioch(B).

That game has always stuck in mind too for some reason. Rioch's goal was a glancing header if I remember rightly.

As I recall, it was a powerful far-post header from a right-wing cross.
I can't remember who out the ball in, though.
