I know we barely recognise their existence while they spend every waking hour dreaming of gaps but there is a game of football to be played on Sunday at 2pm. What do you reckon?
1-3 to the Villa. FTF!
-
What will VAR bring us this Sunday? Can't see us winning but a point will be great. The issue we face against them is their pace. Do we attack them and get caught but the counters or sit back and invite them. A lot will depend on our main men Mings, Jack and SJM
-
They're not all that. I'll go 1-1.
-
They are a decent outfit , would be pleased with s point .
-
Fuck em, 0-4 to Villa.
-
D 1-1.
-
I remember when we used to do them a favour and boost there revenue every pre-season. I dont think you'll find a more peculiar set of fans anywhere in the Country.
-
D 1-1.
I agree.
-
D 1-1.
I agree.
Thirded.
-
Has the feel of a fairly big game. They've only won 1 home game all season, but still will be a tricky game, I'm calling a draw.
-
I think it will be a good open game, end to end with Villa edging it 2-1
-
I think they'll win 2 0
-
As I said in the League Cup pre-match thread, work with 4 of them, and they are going to take the piss big time if they beat us.
1-1 Grealish to score

If that happens then just make sure you lock their cell doors for a few days.
-
Think it's important not to lose this, need to start picking up points away.
-
I'd take four points from the next two games. I think a draw in this one, although if we play with the same intensity as Saturday, we could do better than that.
-
2-1 Villa.
Boly is a big miss for them, and we need to keep Jota quiet.
-
Normally I would never give the deluded denizens of Mordor a second thought but with all the minding of gaps and levels bollocks, it would be extremely satisfying to see us pull their smeggy, shit-encrusted pants down and spank them to high heaven.
-
I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win.
-
Hmmm. Got a nasty feeling that we're going to be looking at Newcastle for our next result.
2-1 Wolves.
-
They are in decent form, were the better side at Arsenal last weekend. Have we faced wing backs this season yet? Presume we have just can't recall the specific game. Smith was impressed by our wide men last weekend so it will be interesting how he fits them in with Grealish returning. Maybe it's McGinn that needs a game out.
I didn't see our last two games, how has Luiz done? Getting plenty of chances but going on reports here and elsewhere, it doesn't appear as if he has nailed the starting spot next to Nakamba yet.
-
Luiz isn’t going to oust Nakamba any day soon. His best contribution in the short term could be from the subs bench.

Nakamba and Luiz is a decent midfield pairing and Nakamba in particular has been very good recently. However can't see anything beyond McGinn - Grealish - Nakamba at present for a 3 man midfield.
No great worries if Luiz needs to be included for whatever reason to replace any unavailable midfielder as Saturday against Liverpool demonstrated pretty well.

Middle three of Luiz, Nakamba and McGinn
Front three of Grealish, Wesley and Trez/El Ghazi.

Another tough game, but one which looks a lot more like a must-win than the previous two so in one sense trickier (though in no other senses). The stereotype of them is that they do well against top half sides who attack them and less well against lower half sides who block them. We look like a lower half side who'll attack them, and away from home at that, so it doesn't necessarily look good. On the other hand, we've shown that we can counter-attack with the best of them in this division, which happens to be their Achilles' heel as well. If we have Jack back, I back us to get a result.
-
I think ‘plucky loser syndrome’ will strike again.
-
And our starting 11 is better than theirs. Which must drive them into a frenzy. We'll see on Sunday, anyhow.
-
Hard to call, this one. Both sides are more than capable of winning and playing well.
I have to say my previous ambivalence/goodwill towards them has all but evaporated after seeing their fans on social media. I know they will point the finger back at us for something Bruce said but about them. I don't expect them to like us or respect us, but I didn't imagine they would drop straight into the same sort of behavior as Blues and Albion. Everyone else around this region seems to have to relate everything they do in the light of what Villa are doing.
1-2 Villa.
-
Wolves are playing tonight so hopefully that has a bearing
-

The ones who troll the avfc hashtag on Twitter are a strange collection of inbred gamer-boys and virgins

2-4 Villa
FTF!!!!
-
1-3 Villa. Wesley to get another tap in.
-
1-1 draw
-
Feels like a 1-1 to me.
Important we don't lose otherwise big pressure going into Newcastle game.
Wolves have improved last few weeks but they don't score that many goals, drawn 1-1 in three of their home games so far.
-
2-3.
No Keane this time so McGinn will have to step up.
-
Just have a feeling we're gonna do a job on these pretenders. It'll be a tightly contested 1-3, Villa taking early chances, Wolves get one back before a late one puts any argument to rest.
-
This is my concern. These fuckers play to the 90th minute and score a lot of late goals. We on the other hand seem to die in the 80th minute and concede a lot of goals. Why do I feel we are going to fuck it up massively late on?

Just about to say the same thing. They seem to have a habit of scoring late on to get a win or draw, but it's not as often as you'd think looking at their results...unlike our habit of conceding late goals.
-
2-3.

Did I see two Gardners playing for Villa and celebrating the goals. Would have thought at least one of them would be down on the dirty Vile B%*^"ards.
-
Win please. It’ll put us in a lot healthier position going into the international break. But the main reason is just to shut up smug Pete at my work. Wolves this, Wolves that, smug, smug, smug and repeat.........zzzzzzzzz
-
I don't mind them scoring a 95th minute consolation goal when we a 3-0 up.
-
clean sheet please Villa....2 nil to the Villa
UTV
The Doc
-
remember going there 1977? and us winning 4-0 - settle for the same result on Sunday
They will not be able to cope with Grealish and McGinn - quietly confident of a win
-
We don’t know how to close out a match and I think we will be undone again.
-
Got a very good feeling about the game.
I think we will go 0-2 up and win 1-2 with them scoring late in the game.
Saturdays winning lottery numbers are...
-
Biggest problem will be the 5 minutes stoppage time as they always always score. We need to have more than a goal advantage at that point. 1-2
-
Odds checker has Wolves: 1.92; draw: 3.63; Villa: 4.37
Before I looked at that I thought a draw, now thinking a wolves win.
-
I just pray we’re not one nil up with 4 minutes to go.
-
I just pray we’re not one nil up with 4 minutes to go.
So do I, fingers crossed we'll be losing.
-
Draw, but really, really want to beat them

Wolves 2.0 Cullis names an unchanged team, Deeley and stobart seal win forWolves against p plucky Villa. Anyone want an old Sports Argus ?
-
You haven't signed 'godzvilla'!
-
Same effort as last week and we should get something. Hopefully Jack is fully fit.
-
Not sure if it's been mentioned but it appears the game is live on Sky One.

I believe that was Gary's first premier league start. The other had already been at SHA two years at that stage.

So I'd be able to watch this with a NowTV entertainment pass, yes? Which I can get on a free 7 day trial. And I could then watch Chernobyl. Which I hope won't be in order to cheer myself up.

All is well in the universe now.

Another tough one, there a good side & Jota & Himinez pretty classy. Saying that hopefully they’ll be knackered from Thursday night match. According to Smith interview today, Grealish hasn’t trained all week and good chance he’ll be out. Same side as last week then for me. As well as Targett has been playing for us, think Traore will test him. Our centre midfield trio of McGinn, Nakamba, Luiz will hopefully stamp authority on the game, think 2-2, hope for a 1-3

Just checked the Sky EPG, and can confirm coverage starts at 1pm on Sky One.
-
If Grealish is out, any sign of Jota being back? At the presser Smith was asked about injuries and he only mentioned Lansbury missing a day of training. But what about Chester, Davis and Jota? Give us complete answers like.
-
Jota only returned to training this week, so it's doubtful that he'll be ready.
-
Any kind of a victory, spawny or otherwise will be much welcomed - Everton and Newcastle winning today has set the tone
We really need to be moving away from the bottom during November and December
-
Win would be brilliant, draw would do, points crucial, lets hope they are still recovering from the midweek game, 2-1 Villa.
-
FIFA predicts Wolves 0 Villa 1 (Grealish 43) but it was FIFA 19 so last season’s squads, and Jack might be out, so don’t put your life savings on it (Damo.)
-
30 years I've lived in Wolverhampton (I know, I know). An absolute desperate club that are aching to be noticed. Heard fuck all off them for four decades until they finally finished above us and then they were falling over each other to manufacture a 'rivalry' with us , they messure everything they do against what we have done and their actual local rivals care more about us than they do them. Singing about gaps and levels, a more cringey set of fucktards you will never come across. They have an abnormal amount of middle aged fat blokes that wear football tops two sizes too small with names on the back. Weird as fuck club.
-
3-1 us. Wes all 3.
-
They like all the other near neighbours seem to hate us. Their crowd will be well up for this. It’s going to be a difficult afternoon. Based on our last two performances there a draw would be great but I honestly fear the worst with this one
-

They've not been great at home this season though. Still think it will be a tough game and judging by some of the calls in to WM this week, their fans will have whipped themselves up into a frenzy.
I'm another one who just doesn't get their fans' seeming obsession with us. Like the residents of Small Heath and Sandwell, any upturn in fortune is greeted with 'mind the gap' and 'pride of the Midlands' nonsense aimed in our direction. Suppose we should be flattered really, as they obviously see us as so e kind of benchmark.
All I know, is that I want Villa to be challenging for trophies and competing with the top teams in the country and not obsessing over finishing above the likes of Blues, Albion, Wolves and Coventry.
-
1-1. We’ll take the lead and you know the rest.
-
Come on the Villa boys! Let's beat the dogheads and take the 3 points. UTV!
-
This is a very important game in respect of how we’re perceived as a team, by us fans & everyone, I think we’re learning as a prem team, we did pretty well against the top two, especially against 'The Mighty Reds YNWA', but ultimately no points, one look at the table & the need for any points now is obvious, we definitely don’t want the plucky losers tag, today could define our season if we win
-
Another good test for us and I can't see any reason why we can't we shouldn't come away with all three points, taking our chances and VAR permitting. 1-3 to us. Tresquet with two, and SJM with the other.
-
Villa win 2-0. Wes and a header from Mings with the goals. C’mon you Villa boys.
-
We'll nail these fuckers to the wall today.
McGinn, who has been pretty much absent since his initial explosive start of the season, will return to form as the Scottish Iniesta, dictating the game with that huge Irn Bru fuelled ass of his. Don't think Grealish will make an appearance either.
Dogheads 1-4 Pride of the Midlands
-
I saw from MOTD that we have allowed more shots on target than any other team in the league. Need to put that right to get something today.
-
Is the match on TV?
-
Yeah sky including sky 1 I think. Annoying since I activated a now tv pass for it.
-
Thank you
-
Please dont lose, my life will be hell for a few days otherwise.
-
Whoever's going to the game, hope you all enjoy the sunshine after yesterday's vile weather (21k at the Sty? Really?).
Hat-trick for Wes!
UTV!
-
Not expecting Jack to be fit, going for 1-1.
-
Hearing rumours that both Grealish and Heaton not available today.
-

Hey don't knock it, the Noses were well pleased with themselves!
-
No Grealish, no Heaton. Jammy Yam Yam pricks.
-
That's not good at all. Two first choices out of our back 5 and Wolves have their full strength attacking line up out.
Think we'll lose this by one goal now.
-
Konsa in for Engels.
-
Seeing the team, I'd take a point right now.
-
Anyone know what's up with Heaton and Engels?

I feel sick after the team news...
Nothing to do with bolting down some frozen profiteroles earlier on: no siree!
