Great result, and a thoroughly professional second half performance.
Looking at the table, it still scares the shit out of me because of the game in hand Bristol and Derby have.
Monday is absolutely fucking massive.

Stoke are ******, they had 88 minutes to equalise and couldn’t do it.
The boggies are ****** because again they have skanked a game.

Fucking hell.....my heart.🥴

Don't worry Andy. It's not over yet, but as it stands we're 6pts clear of Bristol and have an 8pt cushion on Derby now...and they still have to play each other so we should be ok.

Indeed.

It might sound ludicrous after our current run, but Millwall is must win with the games coming up.

Will also give us the chance to rotate against Leeds and Norwich.  There will be players with obvious knocks (Tammy etc) but no doubt a few others that aren't 100 per cent fit who could do with a break.

It really isn't. If they both win they'll still effectively be four and six points behind us, with three games left and they still have to play each other. You need to stop worrying.

Just heard Dean Smith's post match comments. Apparently Tammy 'took a whack' on the shoulder. Too soon to determine extent of damage but probably out for Monday. Didn't sound like a dislocation.

Oh, and while I was waiting for Deano's interview a Villa fan came on WM and said we'd go up this season and do better than Wolves have done, straight into Europe, although there was a risk that Jack would go to Barcelona. And they call us deluded....

The only club in Europe better than us at the moment is probably Barcelona so I can see the reasoning.

Excellent result on a glorious day!

An absolute farce to get in, which the Albion would have been proud of. Queuing for 10/15 minutes and missing the kick off as there were only 4 turnstiles for the 2500 in the lower tier.

First half quite pedestrian, but we still created chances  but we weren't quick enough moving the ball on.

Second half we were excellent. Some brilliant one touch football  with excellent movement. El Ghazi was on form again and looked like Ronaldo with that magical but if skill to beat his marker.

Grealish higher up and causing problems. It really could have been 6.

Hopefully Tammy and Tuanzebe arent too bad. Tammy was in a sling and Axel had an ice pack on his foot. We'll see.

Results went well elsewhere so hopefully we can beat Millwall, make history and cement those play off spots.

Well done Villa on a record equalling 9 straight wins. We are in a great position to break the record Monday. It's taken us over 100 years to get to within reach of this feat, so let's make the most of the opportunity. Well done Tammy on getting to 25. It's 42 years since that happened. Andy Gray's son (Jamie) offered a nice tweet today congratulating Tammy; nice touch! Happy Easter and UTV!

9 is the most in the league, we have won 11 in a row (9 league and 2 cup) although that was over 2 seasons. 1896/97 we finished with 5 league win plus FAC semi and final wins, and started 97/98 with 4 league wins.

Would honestly rest any high valuable player now.

We are all but in the play offs now and the thought of playing them without any of Mings, McGinn, Grealish or Tammy is unthinkable to me.

I'd maybe play them v Leeds at a push as they could still end up so vital we play well there to give them something to think about for a future meeting.

It is with great pleasure that I can type the following
Longest winning sequence (league only):
9 – 02/03/2019 – 19/04/2019 (not out)
9 – 15/10/1910 – 10/12/1910
9 – 22/03/1897 – 18/09/1897

Also, we’re 10 unbeaten in the league for the first time since the arse end of the Houllier/McAllister reign and the start of McLeish in 2011.

There is more for the lads to do.
Longest winning run in both league & cup combined:
11 – 10/01/1914 to 14/03/1914
11 - 20/03/1897 to 18/09/1897

So that's pretty historic ! 9 game winning streak . Not only makes Dean Smith Amlighty side and the current villa players the most in form team on uk but in the major history of the club it makes them "history makers" as Smith the almighty puts it! And so it is.
Looked like another where 5 or 6 goals could have been fair game and it's astounding! Super pleased for smith almighty can see it's a credit his passion for the club and his bright ideas in coaching and developing team play
Full credit to boys today. And this run!

We’ve done well in terms of championship teams we’ve beaten, but it will probably be different team versus millwall . Smithy almighty  will pick a team that has got enough, in his mind, to compete against them Monday

Something I  noticed Grealish is more than decent in the air ! He gets up well contesting headers in middle of park and now twice this season moonlights in at far post with a nod .
He's never in on set pieces as he's involved in taking or hanging outside but I notice hes  luxury at leaps from standing jumpings.
What a player he is!!
What another result and performance
Fish and chips eaten with whole heartedness enjoyment!
Up the bloody villa

Nearly there, will be in the play offs on Monday if we win and Boro and Derby lose, unlikely though as Derby are at home to QPR.

Just a word for Whelan, great to see him at last showing the form he displayed for many years at Stoke and Rep Ireland, will be valuable to us if we make the play offs.

Looking back in the history books to 1910, we were then the reigning champions, and finished 2nd to Manchester United by 1 point that season. The 2 top players that season were probably Stourbridge born Joe Bache and the great Harry Hampton, who is the club's all time leading goalscorer in the league. The great Billy Walker holds the record for all matches.

Good day out in the glorious Horwich sun.

Great atmosphere although you would have thought they might have wanted us to shift a few more tickets, there was an entire empty block to our right.

We didn’t play particularly well, we didn’t need to as Bolton seemed resigned to their fate and didn’t put a tackle in all game. We stepped it up a gear for a few minutes and comfortably won the game. It seemed very, very routine.

Enjoyable day only spoiled by a hideous journey home. MOM by some distance, Glen Whelan.

I wish El Ghazi and his amazing flip-flap skill to beat the full back was on video. Would love to see it again.

Thought he played really well yesterday. He’s been such an asset recently.

I think the performances of Glen Whelan, Elmo and Taylor have been a real feature of this run.  All written off by many of us to some extent over the last few seasons (for me I've never  had time for Taylor in particular)  yet all consistently putting in stand out performances.

It just goes to show it's so easy to write off players who are out of form, low on confidence or not being used correctly.  Massive credit to them for turning things round and to Smith for  finding a way to get the best out of them.  Hopefully some of us will think twice before the 'should never wear the shirt again' comments in future!

The first goal for us was always going to kill the game off and although we've played better, it was very very comfortable. It really is a good feeling being on this run of wins.

What were Bolton were playing at only opening two turnstiles for the lower block? We were meant to go through the Block H turnstile but they'd closed it. The queue to get in the other ones was enormous.

My first league away game since the 90s I think.  Went with my Bruv so a good chance to catch up.  Lovely day, a couple of beers, and a good view from the upper tier.  We were lethargic first half yet still could have had a couple. We both said that if we stepped up even one gear we should blow them away.  As soon as second half kicked off you could see Jack was further forward, and of course it paid off straight away.  We could have had four or five over the next 20 minutes but switched off a bit after the second goal and seemed to be trying to walk it into the net.

Favourite moment was just after the first goal I decided to go for a piss.  Got downstairs and amidst a very loud chorus of "Super Jack" someone said to me "was it Jack"?  I almost said "no shit Sherlock".

The form of those players is testament to good coaching and management. Bruce type managers take plaudits for getting performances out of players like Jack who barely need their input, whilst getting nothing out of the fringe players. There are no weak links in the team right now because everyone is playing to their strengths.

Any twitter clip of this? Was using a lump hammer on the garden so didn’t have a careful eye on the stream on the laptop next to me.

I know Neil Taylor is one of our weakest links but not only has he done well of late but watching the highlights from yesterday’s game and recently the understanding he’s developed with El Ghazi is really excellent. It’s allowing Anwar to get into really good positions and have the confidence to do what he’s best at.
