My question is:
If Bolton forfeit the 3 points, does that count as 9 wins in a row?
-
I can see it going ahead and us getting a 3-1 win and 9 in a row.
-
Just jinxed it. I never vote win away from home.
-
any type of win please Villa...and on to Millwall on Monday
UTV
The Doc
-
Time to rest a number of players including McGinn and Abraham. Should be winning this easily if the game actually goes ahead.
------------Steer
Elmo, Tuanzebe, Mings, Taylor
------------Whelan/Lansbury
--------Grealish, Hourihane
Green, Davis, El Ghazi
-
2-1 us

Bolton 0 Villa 3

Sort of agree with resting McGinn. Not arrogant in the slightest but the bigger picture. Provided Grealish is back obviously.
Think it'll be a comfortable 3-0
-
Bolton 0 Villa 3

As long as that's what the EFL did, cancellation is the best thing for Villa.
Postponement would be the worst thing
-
By the time the EFL make a decision it will be next season anyway...

No time to be resting anyone yet. Play our strongest team, get the points in the bag, secure our playoff spot and take it from there.
I’d bring Mings back for Jedi and and replace Whelan with Jack (Hourihane keeps his place because of his goal last week).
Away win 3-0
-
I've voted draw for the last 5 games and I ain't changing now.
-
We can't take this game lightly after Rotherham, but it's very tempting to rest McGinn, particularly with the yellow situation and how much ground he covers.

To be fair their blazers are currently at the dry cleaners......

The best thing for Villa would be a 4-0 away win in front of 4,500 happy traveling fans.
-
Under the circumstances we really should be giving Bolton a thumping, so I reckon 6-1 to us, even if we rest half the first choice squad!
-
Conquest
-
We should do this - Bolton will scrap but I think we should have too much. I would be tempted to rest McGinn if Jack plays as well. Whelan and Hourihan should be enough. 1-3.
-
Away win
Fluff the Fluffers.
-
Rest no one.
Lets get the points before we start those shenanigans.

Correct. Reach our goal in the next two games then think about changes if that's what we need to do.

Friday 19 April - 15:00
Macron Stadium
The Reebok, Macron Stadium is now called the University of Bolton Stadium. I can't imagine they paid much for that privilege, judging by the finances.
-
D 1-1
-
1-3

6-0 Villa win.*
Lampard claimed Derby could have had double figures against them the other day so why not. An early goal and they know they're relegated. I'd go with our strongest team, at least in the first half. Thereafter we can see who needs/deserves a rest.
*I'm on a roll with Villa predictions and only one Villa goal out in every game.
-
7-0, then.
-
Probably.
-
Sounds like Jack and Jimmy Danger will be fit. Tammy is fine.
Hause is out for another couple of games. Hopefully Elphick & Chester will be ok soon too.
-
Rest no one. They can rest when they retire! A banana skin of a game, one to learn from recently is Rotherham where we struggled to beat a poor side. Think of them like Bolton Munich and do it all very professionally.
-
I want half a dozen but 9 with 9 would be nice.

1860 Munich. We're going to tear them a new one.
-
We only have to see how Wigan played against Norwich earlier this week and held out for a draw.
We can take nothing for granted on Friday, nothing at all.
-
We conspired to lose there last season, we shouldn't need reminding
-
Bolton 0-3 Aston Villa. I've gone with 8 straight wins previously, this will be number 9...
-
I've just seen they've scored 10 in their last 12 games, so as long as we score 2 we should be ok.
-
3-1 to us. Can't wait for me and my lad to be part of the 4500!
-
I know take nothing for granted and all that but if Bolton put in a performance I’ll be mighty pissed off seeing as they’ve been a bye since about October.
-
I’ve heard about their take over but still no official statement about game given go ahead as was expected today... or have I missed it ?
-
Like a lot on here I'm expecting an easy victory by a large margin. I will predict an innings and 100 runs.
-

You’ve just done it. What a miserable day that was.
-
I don't think we should be resting anyone because the job is not done yet. Let's get the points we need then think about leaving one or two players out.
1-4 to us though. Holdsworth to blaze over the bar for them.
-
We're not there yet and with 4 games to go the most important thing is focus on taking 6pts from Bolton and Millwall. No room for complacency and not the time to be resting our best players. SJM to play and Mings to come straight back in alongside Axel, however take the opportunity to hook a few players if we're winning comfortably.
0-4 Villa
-
Yeh could be a tricky game put the full team out and get the job done. 3-1 villa win.
-
They may well get a lift from the gloom that has been Ken Anderson. I read his latest note yesterday to their fans (presumably for their programme) and wow. Off his pickle!
Professionalism and focus is needed. There's a good chance we could have the Play Offs tucked up tight by 3pm on Monday, but only if we're respectful of the opposition and work harder than them. Basically do what we have been doing.
An early goal please.
Steer
Taylor
Mings
Tuanzebe
Elmo
Hourihane
McGinn
El Ghazi
Grealish
Green
Tammy

We can think about resting players once we are definitely in the playoffs.
Would be a huge boost to get Chester back before then.
-
From his press conference, it appears Dean also has one eye on catching Baggies so very much doubt resting players at this stage is in his mindset and will only consider hooking SJM once or if he hits 14 bookings (which I completely agree with).
-
Hmm.
Another banana skin? The start of Bolton’s recovery?
Similar to the Rotherham game and that worked out ok, just.
Need to be far more prolific.
-
Maybe this is the game we hand out that shellacking to someone we’ve promised ourselves since we got relegated.
-
Not fair to our great travelling support with a little over 24 hrs to ko that it’s still not confirmed on
-
It’s on. Confirmed
-

Quite. I wonder who those nervous about this game would rather be facing. There's only one side worse than them in the division.
-
Also, now they've been "rescued", can we take the piss out of the pasty barm eaters?
-
It’s on. Confirmed
By EFL ?
-
My ideal scenario for the last 4 games would be wins against Bolton and Millwall for the magic 10 on the trot. Draw against Leeds away to get rid of the run as it could become an albatross going into the playoffs, then back to winning ways against Norwich setting us up for the playoffs.
One can but dream.
-
Bolton 1 Villa 8
-
It’s on. Confirmed
By EFL ?
It was the Bolton Safety Advisory Group and they've confirmed its proceeding.
-
Two of us driving up from Bournemouth tomorrow. I think last years epic journey in the snow and the crap performance has left painful memories! Hopefully Easter traffic won't be a nightmare and we can continue our fine form. UTV
-
I've voted draw for the last 5 games and I ain't changing now.
Yay! Another member of the (barmy) Creosote Army comes out of the woodwork.
Let's hope we'll get the recognition we richly deserve - through our continued sacrifice to ensure Play Off glory. ;)

Fabulous commitment DV.

No 9 in a row now. Let's hope the team hold their half of the bargain.
-
Put ourselves in Bolton’s shoes, which conceivably could have happened, before the cash injection from the new owners. As supporters, you’d like to believe that the players would fight tooth and nail. But I suspect the reality would have been, they’d have gone out with a highly paid whimper.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Bolton get a clogging off Villa.
-
Has anyone looked at the graphic off the poll? It doesn't half look like we're giving someone the finger
-
We need the 3 points, and they are there to be taken. A professional performance, respecting the opposition will get us that result. That is what a Dean Smith team is most likely to achieve.
If we are keep our eye on the prize, we are best placed to get it. Incredible, if you think back to eight games ago.
-
As long as we're not complacent and we play like we know we can then if we're clinical in front of goal this could be a very comfortable win.
-
Bolton’s new owner, by a Watford fan. I’m sure they will find it reassuring. Poor bastards.
“He talks the talk and he will promise you everything you want to hear, but it's all phoney I'm afraid. There's no substance to any of it. It became ludicrous in the end.
No doubt he'll come out with statements that he made mistakes at Watford and lessons learned etc, but a leopard does not change its spots.
As a Bolton fan, you will quite rightly hope he'll be decent and genuine and will give him the benefit of the doubt until proved otherwise. We had the same reservations but he was given every chance to prove himself, but it became clear very early on he was a chancer.
I'm amazed he's got back in football. I'm amazed the EFL would ever sanction him. He was banned for 3 years because of his dishonestly.
He was made bankrupt twice, and even changed his name from Bazini to Bassini to hide the fact he'd been bankrupt.
When interviewed, he acted like a child, trying to make up stories about events, which even with the greatest deal of naivety, anyone could see through.
He's referred to as the red helmet because our local paper, The Watford Observer, often used the same photo of him with a red builders hard hat. He got so annoyed that he threatened to sue the paper for using the same photo. So, of course, they used it even more.
You'll get used to that. He threatens to sue everyone one. He threatened to sue SkySports News as well for another trivial event.
Even the late Graham Taylor fell out with him, and called him a liar, for making up reasons for not attending a fans forum, which he did more than once. Of course, he threatened to sue GT as well. You can see a common theme here.
I wish Bolton all the best, but this guy will take you into the mire. He's really bad news. A total fantasist who has delusions of grandeur.
He wants a football club as a status symbol, so he can show his family he's not a total idiot.
My only advice is, of there is a way to stop him from taking over, take it. He's hard to get rid of. Watford were in a real mess when he left and only avoided administration and a points deduction by the skin of their teeth. The Pozzo's settled all debts and paid the HMRC. Bassini hid a lot of dept from our new owners too, so they withheld a payment for the Red Lion pub, which was part of the settlement deal. Of course Bassini sued the Pozzo's and of course lost the case, as he always does”
-
Oh dear,But as far as the EFL is concerned they avoid the problem of Bolton not completing the season.
-
I had never heard of him before this week, but was that he had been ousted from Watford. Doesn't look too promising for Bolton.
-
Come on Villa boys, make it 9 out of 9 wins! Our recent history shows us breaking records for the wrong reasons. Let's equal a record for the right reason today, which then sets us up nicely for Monday in attempting to set a new record. Come on Villa 3 more points please. UTV!
-

Makes me appreciate the deal the Dr got us with our new owners. Considering how cash strapped he became he could have easily sold to an equally dodgy outfit.
-
Xia was a fraud and had to get out as quickly as possible.
Make no mistake we got lucky - very lucky - with who bought him out.
-
I know this game is not being televised on the red button bot does anyone know if Sky are doing that thing today where they show all the championship goals, a few moments after they are scored?
-

Ultimately whilst we got lucky, being able to pick up a football club in England, that has the ability to be turned into a fixture in the top 10 of the Premier League, for dirt cheap money is too good to miss. I’d say only Leeds of the other clubs in our position have anything like that potential.
-
Agreed.
But it was a fire sale and we could have come out of it with another chancer.
-
Not really any negative comments about us on the Bolton message boards. One guy noted how well we’ve done since Mrs Doubtfire left.
-
My Bolton season ticket holder nephew is going today. He’s a lovely lad and (potentially foolishly) hoping for a Villa win as it’s even worse supporting Bolton.
-
well thank the McGrath it aint snowing
0-2 Villa
-
Some Bolton fans want to lose today to ensure relegation is confirmed today and not on Monday when they’re away to their rivals Blackburn.
-
Oh dear,But as far as the EFL is concerned they avoid the problem of Bolton not completing the season.
He is obviously 'not fit for purpose' but as you say the EFL don't give a shit as long as they complete the season, really feel sorry for Bolton, they don't deserve it!
Obviously hope that we beat them but I wish them all the very best after today!
-
Don't envy you southern shandy drinkers having to brave the M6 on bank holiday.
Lovely weather up here and my 2nd closest game of the season. Let's not mess it up.
-
In the world that I say Villa score 4 + goals today .
Maybe a 5 or more .
I don't think Bolton are here anymore .
Shame for them.
Wonder who will score as fascinated to what selection will be made
It's a winning one whatever.
Let's enjoy and enjoy the weekend every one of last of us!
-
Bolton 0 Villa 2. Let's just get six points this Easter weekend and we will be looking very good.
-
I going Bolton 0 Villa 3. Im not going to the game today. I'd like to think our fans will show a bit of class and not take the piss out of Boltons situation. It could so easily have been us.
-
Bolton need putting out their misery. The table is grim reading for them, and an early goal could extinguish any lingering thoughts of a great escape. They only have pride to play for after that, and all we need is 3pts.
-
As regards the Poll, why does voting close on Apr 20 2019 at 8:57am? I.e. tomorrow morning?

Indeed! I still get shivers when I think of last summer when we were staring down a barrel.
