Get in!
-
Smashing
-
Majestic.
But Rotherham were down to 10 men.
Oh...
-
Big win that is. Another marker on our unstoppable march.
-
Magnificent performance. We now have a team
-
There's no way I'm getting to sleep after that!
-
Well fuck my old boots, I've seen sone things in my time.
-
That was a fucking great effort in the second half. Well done. No more of the rubbish from the first please.
-
Dean Smith earnt his money tonight that must have been some half time bollocking
-
Under Bruce that is a defeat.
Under Smith the players showed desire and passion, playing for each other.
The fitness level of the players was out of this world against 11 men.
McGinn and Grealish probably still have enough in the tank to run back to Villa park.
Spot on from all concerned.
-
Thought we'd lost the plot for a second, historic second half, pure class performance from Jack, building a healthy distance points wise from 7th place, we need to keep going, Next game is going to be something.
-
I would put that as best win of the season
-
Brilliant 2nd half. Kodjia made the difference and mcginn was just on another planet. Where does he get that energy
-
Never in doubt .... apart from all those that turned on us so easily In match thread when Mings went off 😳
-
I don’t think I can stand much more than this.
From an abysmal first half to a thoroughly professional second half.
Whatever Deano said at half time, he certainly earned his corn tonight.
7 and onwards.
-
When did we last come back to win with ten men? I cannot remember the last time, or if that's even happened in my lifetime! (It probably happened last week knowing me).
Villa were mighty in that second half. Showed some serious class to come back against a decent Rotherham side who were superior everywhere in the first half.
Massive credit to Smith for having an idea about what to do if we go to ten men. Again, when did we last have a manager who had a backup plan? Kodjia was brilliant, Grealish was class and McGinn was a fearsome terrier. Second half our defence was excellent too. Really good job tonight.
-
Can we challenge the Mings sending off?
-
The Aston Villa we've known for years would have lost that.... Not these boys.
Abysmal first half, but Jack, SJM and Kodj were awesome 2nd half. Starting to believe that we're heading back to the Promised Land.
Beat the wurzels at the weekend and I think we've got it. Baggies firmly in our sights now too!
UP THE VILLA!
-
FUCK YEAH!!!!
-
lethargic as fuck first half, think we took it for granted.
2nd half a whole world of difference, kodjia's best game in months.
McGinn inspired, Grealish magical and well done to Elmo for his part in the two goals.
Defended professionally second half, never really looked in any danger.
What the fuck was there corner routine all about?
-
I think we are quite good.
-
Smith won us that with his tactics post red card and whatever he said at half time.
And real guts and grit from the players.
Managerial nous and a backbone - 2 things mostly missing at villa for a long time.
-
Awful first half, but a really good second period considering we were a man down. John McGinn was superb in the second half and a special mention for Jedinak as well who came in and was really solid.
-
What a phenomenal second half. Brave tactical change by Deano and it paid off. Fantastic performance by all and SJM should patent whatever batteries he runs on. What a great feeling
-
There's no way I'm getting to sleep after that!
I recommend red wine. I imagine I’ll be asleep before the team board the bus.
-
If we play like we did in the first half next season against the likes of Man City and Liverpool and it'll be game over..
-
Never in doubt .... apart from all those that turned on us so easily In match thread when Mings went off 😳
You mean all of those who were saying like it was because it was a super crap first half?
-
Damn good result considering that first half shocker. I thought Elmo just edged McGinn out for MOTM... he put in an unbelievable shift tonight.
-
After a rubbish 1st half great comeback, never really in doubt once we went ahead. SJM brilliant.
UP THE VILLA
-
Superb.
-
What did Smith say/do at half time.
Magician whatever it was
Just wonder what Bruce's reaction would have been?.
-
Fantastic. Totally unexpected after the red card and going 1-0 down.
-
The change at half time was brave, clever and won the game for us. Kodjia was excellent and SJM is, dare I say it, better than Jack, they just couldn't cope with him. No booking for him either! wahay. An amazing turnaround, when, at half time, I wanted them to man up, they did. Superbly. Excellent defending too, putting their bodies on the line. MOTM, SJM, bur two lovely goals. Well done Dean Smith.
-
Brilliant result. Is this the season??
-
Can we challenge the Mings sending off?
Apparently not as it was 2 yellows.
-
What did Smith say/do at half time.
Magician whatever it was
Just wonder what Bruce's reaction would have been?.
Bruce would have gone for damage limitation, stick at 1-0 down and shut up shop.
-
First half was really poor, under the circumstances i'd say the second half was one of our most impressive for a long long time. I know it's 'only' Rotherham but down to 10, pen missed, Mings off, pressure on and we fucking came through it and scored one of the best goals of the season.
-
Can we challenge the Mings sending off?
No. Two bookings
-
Did you say we are 4 behind Smethwick....did you?
-
Jack was too deep in the first half and pushed up second, that makes all the difference.
-
Fan-Bloody-Tastic UTV
-
I remember that Man Utd would sometimes get a man sent off against us. I still knew they'd win.
I felt the opposite tonight. Things have changed.
-
Best form in the league currently and now only 4 pts behind the bitter birds. We’re on a roll! Bristol City result doesn’t mean that much now. As it stands, if we finish 6th, we’d play SU in playoffs. Personally, I’d rather avoid Albion til the final.
-
Phew...rest and regroup now villa. Dean Smith O.B.E.
-
McGinn is as good as having 2 players, immense performance from him in the 2nd half. We showed our class in the end. Thought Rotherham were just cloggers.
Ref was still a c**t.
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.
-
The first half was shocking...but what an excellent second half performance!
Smith, the players and all the fans to a man are a credit to the club tonight. Get the fuck in!!!
Said it before, but McGinn has more energy than the Duracell bunny...he looked proper fucked at the end so hope he's fit enough to take on Bristol.
-
At half-time I said a point would be a very good result. That's what a few years of Bruce-ball has done to me. I just couldn't see how down to 10 men and playing crap we could get back into it. Well, lesson well and truly learned. Never, EVER rule this team out. A brilliant second-half performance, could have had four.
-

If Carlsberg did summaries............
-
IF we win on Saturday and IF Albion lose, we'll only be one point behind them: they'll start to sweat then! ;)
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.
Goal of the season contender.
-
Did Tammy have his worst game since joining?
He was due a bad one. He has now got that out of his system and normal service should be resumed please.
-
The sight of John McGinn carrying the ball away from the defence when we’re defending a lead makes me hard. Such a grafter.
Shout out for tuanzebe as well. Looked shaky at the start but solid as a rock after Mings got sent off. One moment towards the end he anticipated the ball took a step and made a flying header. Great anticipation, proper centre back danger neutralisation.
-
And to be fair to the lad, Kodjia's penalty! The audacity to smash it in the top corner with so much riding on it. I love it. Kodjia at his fearless best.
-

We were tested out there tonight and the lads came through, few demons out there and team overcame.
-
Great second half, they are like a modern day Wimbledon roughing you up with their tactics relying on long balls, long throws and set pieces. McGinn and Grealish superb second half but Jedinak and Tuanzebe were magnificent second half winning virtually everything in the air.
They have a team spirit now and I just hope they are not running on empty on Saturday, losing Mings suspended is a blow. Any sign of Chester returning?
-

I would rather play them in the semi-final.
-
Amazing turnaround in the 2nd half, no doubt Deano laid into them at half time. I couldn't see us coming back to be honest.
Kodj made a big difference, Jack was immense and the boys made a huge effort.
But none more than John McGinn. It really is possible to give 150%, because I've just seen it. Massive heart, fucking great player.
Thank our lucky stars that Bruce wasn't in charge, because that would never have happened in a million years.
-
Last three away games we've gone a goal done and come back to win them all!
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.
Goal of the season contender.
Mm, agreed. Brilliant by Elmohamady to square it back to Grealish too. Great vision and composure.
-
shout out for Jedi. Any threat from them was a set piece or long throw. Steer didn't have many saves to make. A bit like a front row in Rugby getting MOM. not saying he was MOM but did more than OK.
-

Do you know I was thinking the same thing tonight. I would be more worried about losing him than Jack. He’s a Ł25m player already and what did we pay? Ł2.5m? Probably the only decent legacy of the Xia era
-
Mings has been a liability in the last couple of games. The break will hopefully give him a chance to get his head back on.
-

I would rather play them in the semi-final.
I’d rather they imploded, missed out on the play offs altogether and then went out of business.
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.
Goal of the season contender.
In any normal season yes, but we have been rather spoilt this year... Grealish's volley, McGinn's, Hutton's run....!
-
They could have had a 5 man advantage and it wouldn't have stopped this https://twitter.com/ArcticLions/status/1116068891543900160
-
Kodj was great tonight. Typically a bit greedy but he stretched them more than our two winger do. Some great endeavour and no little skill. I would play him Saturday instead of Albert. Provides some support for Tammy
-
kodj seemed back to his best
mcginista was class
abrahams and hourianee I thought were below par to be fair
well done the back 4 , thought they were all excellent at ten men
jack was jack .. best player in the championship next to SJM :)
-

This seriously needs a like button.

Ref was still a c**t.
When you are down to ten men you can park the bus or decide attack is the best form of defence. We did the latter and with the likes of Grealish, McGinn and Kodjia running at the them they had too much to worry about at the back to throw the kitchen sink at us.
-
Kodj was excellent when he came on.
-
The way Jack rolled the ball in his feet and took 4 of their players out was just mesmerising
-
There are some errors in your post that I have corrected:
IF When we win on Saturday and IF Albion lose, we'll only be one point behind them: they'll start to sweat then! ;)
-
Last three away games we've gone a goal done and come back to win them all!
Literally unbeatable. We score first, you lose. You score first, you lose.
-
Sensational win tonight.
Brilliant work by manager, staff and players.
-
They could have had a 5 man advantage and it wouldn't have stopped this https://twitter.com/ArcticLions/status/1116068891543900160
Fuck me. That’s a great goal. I hadn’t realised the build up and Jack’s skill and movement. He just glides round everyone. Great pull back from Elmo but how cool of Jack to shoot through a crowd of players in front of him. Coolness personified
Savour these moments. Great comeback tonight
-
Shout out for Jedi. Any threat from them was a set piece or long throw. Steer didn't have many saves to make. A bit like a front row in Rugby getting MOM. Not saying he was MOM but did more than OK.
He was very good and didn't give any of their players around him a chance.
-

Sunderland away under MON.

Carlsberg don't do ideal scenarios, but if they did...
-
5 point gap to 7th plus goal difference. ❤️
-
The first half was a bit of a mess, not just the way we were playing but everything that could have gone wrong seemed to. Throwing Kodjia was not only inspired but so ruddy bloody brave. Grealish was excellent and McGinn must be on drugs, he just didn't stop. Marvellous.
-
Kodj was excellent when he came on.
He should have started. El Ghazi is talented but too inconsistent. This type of game had Kodjia's name all over it.
-

Absolutely, I want to beat them twice.
-
Can we challenge the Mings sending off?
I thought it was his chest so I would definitely challenge.
-
We're going up. That is all.

In a week.
Again.

If we lose Jack next year I honestly think I'll pack it all in. Please don't go, as the song goes.

Why would we?
-
If we have everyone fit I don't care who we play, we'll batter any of them. Only reason i'd prefer the bitters in the semis is we'd twat them twice and if we beat them in the final we'd end up giving them our share of the money and I wouldn't want to give those tramps the steam off my piss.
-

You can't challenge a yellow card.

There you go, perfect reasoning.

fair enough, but my thinking is that we could get done at Hawthorns, whereas they’d surely bottle it at Wembley. Looking at form also, we’d have a better chance against SU in the semi.

You can't challenge a yellow card.
I've googled and you are correct, sir.
Of course.
Ref can rescind apparently but he won't.

I think the referee did everything he could second half, everything went our way.
-
Wow, that Grealish goal is a thing if beauty. He sends 3 of their players one way & glides the other. Absolute class.
-
If we lose Jack next year I honestly think I'll pack it all in. Please don't go, as the song goes.
Why would we?
If we don't go up do you honestly think he'll stay? I worry.
-
I watched the first half, got sidetracked, and switched back on in the 61st minute, I think, to see the score at 1-2. It was a real 'What In The Mother Of Fuck?' moment. And the way we kept going at them, I thought they had had a man sent off too. Marvellous!
-
Really serious signs I’m getting my Villa back after a fucking dreadful 9 years. Passion, heart, fight. We are steam rolling our way back to where this club belongs and no one is stopping us
-
I’d rather they imploded, missed out on the play offs altogether and then went out of business.
That's a very measured, reasonable and pragmatic suggestion.
-
Superb simply superb.
I don’t think we were awful first half mings first booking was the most frustrating was unnecessary.
Smith change at half time really worked. Kodija was excellent when he came on and he deserves a start.
FairPlay to Jedinak very professional when he came on.
Elmo and Taylor were brilliant as was tuanzebe. Hourihane put a shift in and appears to have learnt how to tackle
Abraham looks tired and running on empty.
What can you say about super John McGinn the man is a machine and without doubt Man of the match. Super jack play for the second goal was class and he looked really fit which was great as he has tired last few games
What a brilliant win
-

Yes it was his chest that has an arm attached to it :)

I’d take that.
Less than a week ago, 10 points, now 4. My Boggies mates are a tad quiet tonight.
Please don’t fuck it up Villa.

I agree completely on the bold bit. I think we need to start looking at taking him off at half time (or having him on the bench) for a game or 2, we want him at his best for the play offs and I think we can start planning for them now.
-

It’s a real interesting one with first full summer window for new boss and owners. They keep saying ffp no issue and they’d like to go up but not be all and end all . If we don’t they’d still need to show some ambition which would clearly revolve around jack and Mings to show statements of intent

I think Dean Smith deserves a lot of credit for the comeback as well. Kept two up top throughout the second half and it worked well.

The self belief in the Villa team is fantastic.
I’m trying not to get carried away but that self belief makes me think that soon we will be singing:
VILLA ARE BACK, VILLA ARE BACK, HELLO, HELLO
-
This season reminds me of 97-98. Going nowhere in the league and then under John Gregory i think we won nine out of the last eleven. Top win tonight, was at work so had to make do with 5 Live's updates and it sounds a crazy game but the spirit in this team is superb. Keep it up Villa.

If memory serves, we only lost to Bolton and Barnsley, who were both relegated. Weird.
-
Phenomenal from everyone in the second half but importantly we tried to play the ball around despite being a man down. I don't know how McGinn kept finding the energy.
Smith doesn't like to play Kodjia, but he's a good footballer and playing him more centrally as we had to helped us.
Jedinak did well considering he hasn't played, but their constant Wimbledon-like tactics with long throws and long balls suited him.
Whilst Mings has been very good, in the last two games he could've cost use dearly. Just two minutes before the penalty, I said he was a red card waiting to happen.
Anyway, the journey home is a lot more palatable than it looked like at half time!

Very reasonable fans at Millers:
"Doff your cap to Aston Villa, a superb club, with a real soul, magnificent supporters and a team timing their end of season run in to perfection.
Just how good were they in game management? They closed down the game completely in the last 15 minutes and we didn't get a sniff.
My only complaint is that we didn't bring Williams on earlier although.
We gave everything , they were just better."
-
And a pragmatic Manager:
Rotherham United manager Paul Warne told BBC Sheffield:
"There's no shame to us losing to the in-form side in the league. We were excellent first half. We've gone toe to toe with them.
"Their manager gave them a rallying call and they came out flying after the break. We had a few near misses but we just didn't get to the heights we did in the first half.

Fair play to him.

You don’t see many comments like that.

Weird.
At home as well.

I had to look up what 'self-aggrandising' meant. I initially thought it was a posh term for a wank.

Not clicking that as I don't care about Bath City. Or Bangor City in case it's them.

UTV!!!!
MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!
Sorry Mods I may have hit notify by mistake in an excess of joie de vivre
-
Cant sleep. Adrenaline overload.
-
Just back, M1 was horrendous, why do they shut motorways then don’t do anything when they are shut?
Anyroad, first half I felt we got dragged into a narrow, physical, tetchy game and we couldn’t impose ourselves on it save for a few instances and our forward players had little influence.
Second half we were a different team, fast, aggressive and clinical.
I can’t remember a more impressive 45 minutes from a player than McGinns second half, he was like Maradonna in 1986. They couldn’t get anywhere near him. Utterly brilliant.
-
Seven wins is too long..
-
This is the last time I enjoyed 7 in a row this much
-
Well done you Villa boys.We were playing 12 men tonight .How a referee based in West Yorkshire can take charge of a Yorkshire team only the EFL know. Even the Rotherham manager said it was never a sending off
-
Fantastic performance second half! I've been back an hour but cant sleep! So much bottle and brains to our play just superb stuff.
Positives
McGinn. So dynamic it was astounding. Run after run, his arse shielding everything, driving the game on, forcing them back. Just brilliant. Get him tucked up in bed and in the cryo chamber ready for Saturday.
Grealish. Sublime, his touch, movement and towards the end game management, fantastic.
The full backs. They really pushed on 2nd half and helped us dominate territory.
Smith, being so bold to go 432 and commit so many men forwards, it really knocked them off balance. Ok, they're a poor side, but they'd roughed us up first half and were on top, with 11v10 too and a dire referee.
Kodjia was an absolute nuisance, Tuanzebe was assured all game and even Jedi did ok when he came on. We'll need Hause fit mind as I'm not sure how he'll cope against movement.
Our game management was top draw too. That's how you see a game out.
Negatives
First half we lost our heads a bit and were forced off our stride. We hadn't been great against Blackburn second half or Wednesday second half, but we came out like a juggernaut tonight after the break. We've got our swagger back
Other negatives include the M62 being shut, leading to a diversion past Elland Road. But hey ho.
Fantastic performance second half. Time for some more magic Saturday.
-
If we do get promoted, I won’t miss the f*cking M1 midweek night closures. Or refs like this one tonight. Or tinpot wannabe Stoke City mongrels like Rotherham.
Anyway, we won and I’m finally in bed with a cup of tea so god bless Aston Villa. Goodnight.
-
How good was that !
-
How good was that !
No idea, ask them..
Doff your cap to Aston Villa, a superb club, with a real soul, magnificent supporters and a team timing their end of season run in to perfection.
Just how good were they in game management? They closed down the game completely in the last 15 minutes and we didn't get a sniff.
-
Great result especially when you consider how the 1st half went. 7 out of 7 is brilliant! Shame about Mings for the weekend, but we're at that stage of the season when all players have to step in and step up. Kodjia being a case in point. A fit, dangerous Kodjia at the business end of the season is like a new signing for us and will strike fear into opponents. Lets get 8 out of 8 at the weekend to ensure those in our wake continue to play catch up. Well done Villa! UTV!
-
I was working 'til late yesterday, but glanced at the score on the Beeb website from time to time. It looked like the wheels had properly come off by h/t, so that must've been one helluva team talk by DS! I still can't quite believe we managed to turn it around so quickly; and having seen the highlights our reshuffled 10 looked absolutely rampant. What a goal by Jack - leading to more absolute scenes in the away end. Marvellous.
Bring on the Wurzels!

That’s beautiful, what a superb remark. Where did that come from Rudy?
-
Best form in the league currently and now only 4 pts behind the bitter birds. We’re on a roll! Bristol City result doesn’t mean that much now. As it stands, if we finish 6th, we’d play SU in playoffs. Personally, I’d rather avoid Albion til the final.
I would rather play them in the semi-final.
I’d rather they imploded, missed out on the play offs altogether and then went out of business.
I think they've luckily got enough points on the board, as the form they're in would have them sweating
They played us at the right time when they won at ours and heard they were lucky to get the 3 pts vrs the noses. Different days and that's at least 4 points less.

Love this.
-
That second half speaks volumes about the manager and players in terms of character and ability. It would have been so easy to feel sorry for ourselves but to come out and take the game to them took them by surprise and at no point did it show that we were a man down. Roll on Saturday.
-
Oh, and a shout out to Steer.
He was superb last night night. Did everything that was asked of him and the one handed reaction save at 2-1 was brilliant and points winning.
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.
Elmo produced a similar pull-back early on for the Albert chance. Looks like something they've worked on
-
Was so jealous of what looked a great atmos at Wednesday last saturday but got tickets for last night and wasn’t disappointed to say the least. After a nice drive through the Hope Valley and a suitable pub stop we arrived early, most mumbling around us before the game was how tough it was going to be, with no overconfidence on show.
First half we got involved in their type of football and a few good moments aside we just didn’t get going. The officials were atrocious. Fair play to Rotherham they had a game plan and delivered on it.
Second half, I have to say that’s the proudest Ive felt of my team in years. Heart, soul, clinical professionalism, and a game plan that they delivered on superbly. The ref suddenly realised it wasn’t all about him as well.
Scores on the doors:
Steer - 8 didn’t have much to do but that one handed stop 2nd half, superb
Elmo - 9 - the unsung hero of the night, up and down and creative as well, in great form.
Tuanzebe - 8 solid as fuck
Mings - 6 oops an off night
Taylor - 8 after a dodgy start, settled and excellent 2nd half including a couple of great runs and nutmegs.
Hourihane - 8 quiet, unassuming but was super controlled and disciplined in that second half, feeding the ball to Jack/John calmly.
McGinn 10 and MOTM - wow just wow my man love for this guy went up a level after this, quite astonishing energy and performance
Grealish 9 - sublime and that goal, oh just brilliant
Adomah - 7 didn’t do much before getting the hook for the sending off
El Ghazi - 6 didn’t do enough for me was ok but just not involved enough.
Abraham - 7 it’s not going for Tammy lately but he keeps going and you can see his commitment.
Subs
Jedinak - 8 after a tentative start and a few moments he seemed to get into it and he was back to being aggressive and committed in that second half, some superb headers in the closing stages
Kodjia - 9 absolute beast, his hold up play and trickery they just couldn’t live with and balls of steel with the penalty, great performance.
Whelan - 7 not really on for long enough
Smith - 10 ballsy call for 4-3-2 in the second half but it worked as they couldn’t live with us, our quality told all over the pitch.
All in all a great night, good atmos and some “scenes and limbs” at the start of the second half. Roll on Saturday, can’t wait......
-
Really felt like things were unravelling at half time but absolutely brilliant second half. Well done to Deano and all the players. Still buzzing this morning.
-
Oh, and a shout out to Steer.

Yes thought that save was magnificent and seemed to go unnoticed.
-
What a great comeback and result.
I'm so proud of this team and the way they just don't give up. Reminds me of the Saunders days.
-
Loved Dean's comment about John McGinn. 'So good I thought there was two of him'. S omaybe we weren't down to 10 men :)
-
Grealish's goal, by the way. Holy smokes.

I think they picked up a couple of tricks watching Bruce’s master class last Saturday.😉
-

We had John McGinn and John McGinn's arse!
We had twelve on the pitch to start with!
-
I don't now if anyone else has made this point but it occurred to me on the way home last night that we've only had two red cards this season and that what happened next sums up the difference between Smith and his predecessor.
2-0 up and in control against Preston then wilted when Chester was sent off and fortunate to rescue a point in the end.
1-0 down and out of sorts last night and Smith made the necessary changes to personnel to get the win we needed.

If you go on the Villa YouTube channel, there's some vids from Bodymoor. Some of the drills seem to try to replicate situations that might, or could be made to, happen in an actual game.
Nothing we do now happens by chance.
-
I'm so glad with another win and seven on the bounce first half wasn't very good the ref was Frank Spencer in disguise he had a few whoops Betty moments they tried to rough us up but second half we bloody well showed them and any other team we ain't going away we are well in the mix and nobody is going to stop us not even comic refereeing.

Watch Jack's movement after he plays the pass, it's clearly something that has been trained for us to look for crosses behind the retreating defence. This is the sort of detail that shows the difference between Smith and managers like Bruce. At the start of the season we were getting plenty of crosses into the box but they were percentage balls played into an area where the plan was to just keep throwing the ball in there and profit on the ones that don't get cleared now we're trying to game the numbers by playing balls into different areas, there were a couple of crosses like it on Saturday as well.
-
Work was highly enjoyable today despite getting up at 3:45am to watch the game and again at 8am.
Really impressive second half, Villa. What a wonderful player Jack is, and McGinn, too.
Mings hasn't been playing well these past few games, but I'll let him off.
Special mention for Taylor and Elmohamady. I've been on their backs since they signed, but they do look handy going forward.
And Jed is a calming influence between the sticks.
-
Other negatives include the M62 being shut, leading to a diversion past Elland Road. But hey ho.
Hope you had a shower as soon as you got home?

Highlights
-
Jack started the run for his goal 10 yards inside his own half. Beat half their team and played 2 one twos on the way, to slotting it into the bottom corner.
If that were Hazzard or Messi, or had taken place in the premier league the media would be in a frenzy about it.
-
Hourihane's chance near the end. We're one goal up, need the points, away from home, down to ten men, and our entire midfield is in their box!
I fkn love this side.

keep him understated :)
-
Negatives that's 3 poor 45 mins in last 3 matches, can't afford to do that if we make the play offs, still concerned about the form of Connor, Adomah, El Ghazi and Green. However the positives far outweigh the negatives, superb comeback from the 10 men, 7 out 7 is a great effort, present form of Steer, Elmo, Taylor and Whelan a big plus. Big blow losing Mings on Saturday, but if SJM and Jack are at their best we'll get the 3 points.
UP THE VILLA

First noticed it away at Boro. Pulis sets up with four big headers of the ball in defence, and Smith (and presumably his coaching team) simply drilled the team to pull it back along the deck to nullify them.
One of the most exciting things for me this season is that you never know where and how the next goal is going to arrive.
Smashed in from thirty yards? Check. Four passes that cut through the entire opposition? Check. Far post knock-in from a cross? Check.
It must make this current Villa side a nightmare to defend against.
-
So the ref sees nothing wrong with a forearm and knee into the back of Mings after the ball has gone before his first booking, nor with Elmo taking out a man in the air moments before his second. Three seasons, and I still can't believe how poor the officiating has largely been at this level.
-
Loved Dean's comment about John McGinn. 'So good I thought there was two of him'. S omaybe we weren't down to 10 men :)
I am convinced that Deano cloned SJM at half time because towards the end of the second half there were at least three of him on the pitch.
-
How did a Yorkshire-based ref get that game last night? A f*cking shit ref at that.
-
Watching that jack goal again (and again and again) I can’t help thinking that as he takes out those Rotherham players and runs towards the box, he looks just like a kid, absolutely fucking loving it.
-
once the Emperor went off that was a Bruce side wasn't it? Could anyone ever see him coax that 2nd half out of them?
-

He is loving it and living the dream playing, captaining and winning with his team and that is infectious. Playing attacking football with out fear when down to 10 men, jumpers for goalposts......-bloody love it!
-
Fabbaluss night out, in the end. Fukcer trying to get out that car park though
-
Some of those Twitter vids suggest we are running a very happy ship at the minute. McGinn was fucking brilliant in the second half and Jack's goal a thing of beauty.

Think Media wankfest is the term you are looking for. He is the greatest natural talented player we have had down Villa Park for years and if he was to stay at Villa whilst in the Prem only Man city could afford him. Even then he'd be sitting on the bench for large chunks of the season.
Stays at Villa and be worshipped like a God, Captain of the side, attracts better players who wish to play alongside him. Jack's at home.
-
For the second goal, when Grealish came inside rather than play the ball out to the left I shouted out, 'oh for God's sake.' Credit too to Elmo for a brilliant spot and pass, and for simply being up there.

We don't need to mix incompetence with any suggestion of bias. The Ref needs to go back to school. Amongst many error how did he not give any consideration to Vaulke giving Tyrone a double handed shove that led to Mings booking a few seconds later?

I was about to post "He won Spurs the FA cup in 91 by injuring himself badly when he kicked Gary Charles in the chest so the ref decided as he was getting carried off he couldn't also send him off. If he hadn't got injured Spurs would have been down to 10 men for most of the match."
Then I checked on Wiki to remind me and I forgot it was Parker who was karate attacked and Fat Gaz didn't even get a card of any colour, then it was Charles who was scythed down, but he didn't go off until after the free kick was taken and scored from. Talk about star struck refs ey.

That's a ridiculous statement. Of 1.5 million kids who play organised youth football, only about 180 turn professional. That's a success rate of 0.012 percent.
Gascoigne making one sub appearance and never playing again would have been the opposite of "fuck all". 50+ caps for England even less so.
Massive **** mind.

I take your point but if you measure potential Vs achievement he was a massive let down. All of the others had their own personality flaws (apart from perhaps Laudrup, and I don't know much more about Schifo other than that he was more use than Gascoigne) and he doesn't belong in any of their company.

True enough, he ended up with a career more comparable to Le Tissier or Merson than Maradonna.
I thought the fashionable Grealish comparison was with Waddle anyhow!

Because of the dynamic / live load on the structure (i.e people. The concrete mix and amount and type of rebar i.pact on the rigidity of a structure. Too rigid there could be a failure of the structure in response to say 2-3 thousand people bouncing.
