Mods - please move if this is in the wrong place. I'm looking to get a cycling top with claret body and blue sleeves. The cost is dramatically reduced for multiple jerseys so I'm seeing if any others want to go in with me. I'm not looking to make a profit, just get a good price for us all so if nine or more are interested I'll get it organised and only order when everyone is happy with product and price.
-
Perhaps PM Jon Crofts?
-
I'd be interested
-
Where are you thinking of ordering from mike?
I've seen a few of these really limited run jerseys, we had some made for L'Etape du Tour a few years ago, I think we had 12 done for our Lantern Rouge team by a time in China. Quality can be really hit & miss. Another option is buying a base jersey from Castelli or Endura & having it screen printed?
I've heard good things about www.teejac.com
-
www. voler.com/custom not used them but they have a good range of templates and colours
-
I’d be interested. Let me know cost.
-
Should add I would also be intrested
-
Me too - could wear it on this year's Velo!
-
I could be interested - details please.
-
Guys, I did a template that came up at about 40 quid, until of course I reduced the number to 2! I'm busy right now but I'll try to look it out and put it on here. As has been said, there is a variety of quality and I want something decent not just a novelty top so I will put links on to a few of the big companies.
-
Last years Katusha one was a close Claret and Blue. (well close considering some of the shirts we had in the past).

Guys, this is a company called cliftonclothing.com and works out at £35. It's probably worth looking at the website to assess quality and other upgrade options.
-
If you're looking at around the 40ish quid mark, you can put me down as "potentially very interested" for 3. Especially if they can make it for the Velo.
-

Yep, it's not bad and (grumpy git alert) at least as close to a Villa top as the Luke one... yes I know it's sold really well but I like blue sleeves.
-
I may be in if a looser fit... I'm an MTBer
-
Love the design. XL for me!!
-
This is their product information...
Individual names printed on each custom cycling jersey, FREE of charge - logos and flags too
Extra soft Italian Lycra for added luxury (option to upgrade with Winterweight fabric)
Optional 3M reflective taping for enhanced nighttime reflective brightness
Stretch it out with 4-way superpower stretch fabric
Micromesh underarm panels gets cool air flowing
Zip up with a choice of zip lengths
Flat seems get rid of distracting chaffing
Silicone grip hem stops your custom cycling jersey riding away
Triple rear pocket with reflective tape and a zipped compartment for valuables and cycling snacks!
The ultimate cycling club jersey. Customisable cycle jersey design, perfect cycling jersey fit, and your choice of cycling jersey sleeve lengths and hard-working extras. An unbeatable custom cycling jersey for colder or windier rides.
They also do a lighter weight one for summer. Some of these options add to the cost and I don't know whether they all have to be identical, i.e. whether I can order a couple with different size zips or weights etc
-
Mike, it’s looking good. I don’t see a sizing guide on their website: do you have an idea of sizing? - I’d be up for 2 cycling tops.
-
Put me down for 2XLs, please.
-
I'm in - XL (unless sizing is more 'Italian').
Let me know how you want paying
Edit - actually I'll take 2
-
Does anyone want me to look at other suppliers or shall I get firm details on this one? If it goes ahead, we just need to consider postage, which will add some cost. I will be able to meet some people at Villa Park to save postage.
-
I’d be up for a running top of a similar ilk.
-
I'm in as well if they're decent
-
There is a sizing chart. XL is 44 chest and xx is 46 chest
-
I'm in as well if they're decent
I'm hoping someone can tell that from the spec... I'm not an expert.
-
Me too - could wear it on this year's Velo!
Be great to have this sorted for the Velo.
-
One for me please. Would great for the Velo!
-
ANyone know anyone at Luke who could add a little design flair and make it "Official"
-
ANyone know anyone at Luke who could add a little design flair and make it "Official"
You'd probably be adding at least 20 quid to the cost that way.
For me at least, I don't really want to be cycling in a Villa jersey with a villa badge etc, just a top in colours that gives a nod to the team.
-
I'm with chrisw1 on that.
As soon as it becomes more 'official' the cost will increase. The design on page 1 looks really nice, and cost wise it works. Otherwise its going to be £50 - £60 which become less appealing to me anyway.
-
I'll be in for 1 large please
-
I'll have one as well
-
What's a Velo?
-
What's a Velo?
It's the midlands 100m closed road bike ride - 12-5-19 this year
Edit - well that's not what 'a velo' is, but that's what people are referring to in this thread.

Ok, this is another supplier, a bit more pricey, but it gives something to compare against.
www.owayo.co.uk
I like the idea of handling it to Luke but I think it’s too small scale for him... plus I want blue sleeves.
If there’s a preference for one supplier, I’ll need to get some firm idea of what people want re size and personalisation. Feel free to look at other options yourselves if you want. As long as it’s ok quality, has a claret body and blue sleeves and is a reasonable price, I’m happy.
-
3 weeks lead time, hmm. Will need to order fast to ensure it beats 29th March. ;D

Hi Mike. I'm happy with either. Sizewize, most tops come up short on the body for me and at 6 foot 4 that can be a problem. So XL for me. Id prefer the simple designs as shown on here so far rather than make it more official or handing it to Luke. Just my preference. As I've said what was shown on the first page looks fab. The feedback from both sites appears to be ok.
-
Right guys, there seems to be a consensus that the first site is OK. CAVEAT I've never used them, I can't guarantee anything about them.
They need exact details for the order so PM me with size and any name or numbers you want plus whether you have a preference for summer or all year fabric (might have to all be the same). Once I've got a definitive list I'll email it to them and get a firm price plus delivery date ensuring it is pre Velo if I can. There is an express option but it would add about £5 per shirt.
-
I’m not a cyclist so just some general feedback...that second design looks really good.
-
Mike
One thing I would mention is I think the first site allows you to provide them a pantone colour reference. I don't know if the ones Luke use have been made available, but there is an older reference on this site for the Lerner years crest:

These prices both include:

So there you have it, attached to this email are two size breakdowns for you to fill with the sizes you would like to order and email back to me. Please note for your cycle jerseys there are tabs for SLIM and CLASSIC fits; the "to fit" measurements are in the top part and the "actual garment" measurements in the lower part to assist. Once these are received our team will then put together a PDF showing your design for you to review and approve. It really is that simple!
Our terms & conditions that apply to this quote and your order when you proceed and can be viewed in full here - http://www.cliftonclothing.com/termsconditions.
Thanks Mike, I look forward to your reply and receiving your order as soon as possible this week as outlined above.
Best regards,
Bruce.
Bruce Elliott
Guys,
This is the official quote. Obviously, I’m not going to get money in quick enough for his deadline so I’ll get back to him and suggest next week. So far I’ve only had a couple of PMs. I’ll send him the order next Thursday for all year short sleeved shirts unless I get ten requests for summer shirts. Let me know size and any numbers or initials you want. When I get a PM I’ll return it with my PayPal. I’ll also get him to commit to a date before I take any money so let me know if you need them by a set date.
-
I’d be up for a running top of a similar ilk.
And me.

And budgie smugglers.

Hi,
I am very interested, but sizewise I am 42 inch chest...would this be L or XL?
-
Hi,

If anyone knows how to paste a spreadsheet in I have some sizes. L is 42 and XL is 44. It says if in doubt go for a size up. There is also a choice of classic or slim fit.
-
Thanks for the PM's. I'm going to tot it all up and give the supplier a firm order on Monday, subject to the quote being as previously received. If anyone else is interested, I will need it by Sunday evening. Just a reminder that I will have to add some p and p on. Alternatively, I will be at the last home match so I can spend 20 mins outside the Holte End to hand them out.
-
I've PM'd you, Mike

Unable to PM, but would like two jerseys if at all possible.
1 x XL
1 x L
And preference for full zips if this is an option, but not really too fussed.
Happy to pay up front, just need a mechanism
I’m currently in Cape Town so WhatsApp might be cheaper!
-
I sent a PM - but it's not showing in my Sent items.
If I'm not too late, an XXL regular fit would be amazing, please.
Cheers

Clifton are making me a couple of long sleeved running tops for the London & Edinburgh Marathons that I am attempting this year (Villa for London, Hibs for Edinburgh), the designs are great and they seem really good to deal with.

Thanks, that's quite reassuring!
-
Guys,
I'm hoping to get a reply to this today, after which I'll PM you a price inc P and P and my PayPal. If anyone wants to save on P and P by collecting at the Norwich game, that's fine but as it's my lad's birthday, I may have about five 8 year olds with me...
Can I also say that the smallest size being ordered is L and there is only ONE person requesting a slim fit.
Bruce,
I have 24 confirmed orders and looking at your website, standard delivery by 23rd April would be fine as the event is the week after… hence I need to know there wouldn’t be any slippage!
Can you give me a final quote based on that and I will put the order in.
Mike.
-
Appreciate the update Mike.
-
Thanks Mike
-
Hi Mike,
Thanks for advising and there will no slippage from this, provided we can receive your order ASAP today, as well as your invoice payment cleared to us today as well please. Pricing for your order will remain as per my original email also.
Thanks Mike, I look forward to your reply and receiving your order as soon as possible this morning.
Best regards,
Bruce.
Guys,
On this basis, I’ll get the order in. I work it out as 35 per shirt. There’s also a delivery cost to me of £36 which I would propose dividing out at £1.50 per shirt. Onwards p and p from me to you £3 or free collection at Norwich game. I’ll PM you with my PayPal.

Thanks for all the speedy payments. For those who haven't seen, you should have a PM with my PayPal details. They've agreed to order before the Velo.

Just to let you all know they've confirmed delivery is on schedule for next week. Obviously, you've then got to wait for me to get round to posting them on... I'll let you know when they're here

Cheers Mike!
Coincides nicely with the clement weather!
-
For all those on this thread doing the velo, have you got your starting time yet? I'm on Green 3 which is a bit further back then I hoped (7:05 to 7:40).

Green 1 too.
Bricking it now. Think I'll be swept up as I don't think my bike is fast enough. Heavy boardman hybrid. Plus my longest ride is 42 miles.
Trying to break 50 tomorrow 😯

The actual course is rolling but no real big hills so as long as you can cycle within yourself and take it easy up some of the long drags you should be fine. At worst case you can cut across at Fillongly at 930. Also remember that with closed roads there will be no need to stop and start so momentum can be carried across. (just look around for other bikes). However I would build up the distance still in the next two weeks. Maybe a 40 with an hours stop and then 30 back.
-
Did 52 today so not too bad with a few tough ish climbs

Whichever you chose, I’m still going to Norwich. I’m taking my 5 year old daughter to this match. It will be her first along with my 7 year old boy who is an old hand now.
-
I may have an unexpected opportunity for one of these in large if anyone missed getting an order in. Let me know.

Sorry, no. If enough people want one I’m happy to put in another order. I think the minimum at this price is 10.
-
I’d have one too, if you place another order.
Cheers.
-
Yes, I will have one if enough people, 'M' for me.
-
I'd be in for a medium as well.
-
Me too please Mike. Medium as well please. Needless to say it’s for my super fit son , not me.
-
Arrived today. I'm happy enough with mine, hope you will be too. I will get them in the post tomorrow. If anyone has changed their mind and wants to collect them at Villa Park instead, let me know (I'm thinking there might be more people going now!).
Mike.
-
I'm missing a few addresses, I've PM'd those I need them from.
If you're happy with the tops, any donations to www.justgiving.com/Michael-Unwin3 (http://www.justgiving.com/Michael-Unwin3) would be massively appreciated.
-
Thanks Mike.
This means I'll get it in time for the Purity Brewery ride on the 4th. I believe there will be beer and BBQ afterwards, should anyone else think of joining....

I'll look it up, sounds good.
-
All posted out today except FMWMU - just waiting on postage address. Mooli/Mr E see you at the match. PM me your numbers and I'll ring or text you.
Due to unexpected fees and expenses, I've made a bit of a loss out of this so just another plug for the link above. I'm wearing my top on a ride from Walney Island to Holy Island, the alternative coast to coast, for a safe water charity in India run by a friend of mine. She got an MBE the same day Gareth Southgate got his OBE. I've got a photo of him with her kids but sadly don't know how to post it up. I will be cycling on the day of the play off final... bad planning or what (Bruce was in charge when I planned it.)
-
Thanks Mike.

I like the look of that, but I'll need to get someone to take my boy to football. Are you doing the pint or half pint? Oh, and has your top arrived?
-
Top arrived today. I'm very pleased: good fit and excellent design, with just the right shades and claret and blue. Many thanks for organising this, Mike!

Thanks, Frank. The claret was a default option on the colour choices, which makes you wonder why we've had so many dodgy coloured official shirts.
-
Mine & DBs arrived today thanks mike. Like the collars, quality feels good and the sizes are spot on.
So, I think we need photos of people out riding in them.
Thanks again & get posting your pictures up.

I can't do the Velo if anyone knows someone who would like my place? not possible to transfer now so would need to remain in my name

Pics please

My two arrived this morning, Mike.
Thanks again.

Got mine this morning. Many thanks Mike.

Mine arrived too - thanks Mike. Colours are great. Little bit snugger than I hoped, but that's my fault for being a fat fucker.

May get out for a few hours later so will wear mine if I do.

Mine arrived today looks & feels fantastic ,thank you Mike for all your efforts .
Not be able to wear it anger for another couple of months due to my major off just before Christmas, left leg broke in two places and a shattered kneecap .
So this will spur my rehab on once again many thanks Mike

Thanks Mike, looking forward to seeing mine when I return from the Far East at the weekend, glad to hear they're snug as I ordered XL, but I'm sure my beer gut will show up too!

I'm impressed you weren't cold, it was a bitter wind. I had two punctures and a fall! I did look out for you for that pint!

Who did I see in the Velo about 80 miles in? Asked about the top and said the Brother (in law?) got it them. Liked the colour scheme but I think I would have needed a full zip one.
-

Could've been my brother, I got him one. If he ever answers my text, I'll ask him.
-
Yep, you met my brother. He said a couple of people had asked him about it, and he'd got a fair few "Up The Villa"s along the way.
He rides in a little group with my other brother and a few mates over Sutton side on Sundays. He was concerned that they ride a little faster than he does (he was optimistic he could average 11mph, but was expecting the others to be more around 13), so he'd swapped to an earlier start with one of them. About 45 minutes, but enough, he hoped, so that he wouldn't have to really overdo it to stay with them once he got caught.
But the shirt must have inspired him. 7hours 18, close to 15mph. 34mph through the start gate, top speed of 42.5, and they never caught him. It was close, about quarter of a mile at the end, but he won!
I'm quite proud of the old git. And to the rest of you yesterday, I tip my cap. Fantastic effort.

Sounds like it was him then. I know a couple of others said they were going on it as well.
Tell him congrats. The closed roads and great weather helped as it was not too hot or windy. And not having to stop and start all the time saves energy and conserves speed. Taking the food stops out of the equation I did an 18.5mph speed but the stops, including for the unfortunate soul near Atherstone, added 45 mins on.

I'm sure I'll get Burnley comments when I finally get out!

True story... when I lived in Cumbria, I went into a pub and someone had on the previous season's Villa top. When I went to the bar, I was stood next to him so I said how rare it was to see a Villa top up there. To which he said, 'I'm a Burnley fan but it was in a sale and it's the same colours.'

So this is why I wanted the Villa cycling top... me plus two little Villans at the end of my charity ride. I set off the day after my dad joined the Holte Enders in the sky and missed the final for this. Monday was torture until about mile 50 when I found out the result.
Thanks to everyone from the site who donated. If anyone still wants to, the link is a page or two ago.

Final word to say a massive thanks to the people who’ve donated, amazingly, several who didn’t even buy a shirt. H and V has raised £65 so far and I don’t think there’s another site I would have had that response from. My dad died the day before I started and the Villa won promotion half way through it. I missed the semi because my dad was ill and the final because of this. What a rollercoaster time and thanks to you guys for making it that bit more life affirming.

That's a lovely picture and the tops look great. I'm just glad the Villa did it for you during such a sad time.

Out of interest, is Holy Island anywhere near Craggy Island?

Well done, Mike.
I’ve been out in my new cycling top, and it is comfortable and smart; so thanks again!
