And the year's fun starts tonight with an interesting bill topped by Ted Cheeseman against Sergio Garcia.
-
And a good opening round in Jake Ball against Craig Richards.
-
I look forward to AJ beating Miller.
-
Who's your money on tonight?
-
I think Degale will have too much for him. Would love to see it, but I'm not giving my money to itv.
-
If Degale has anywhere near his best left he’ll win.
-
I think Degale will have too much for him. Would love to see it, but I'm not giving my money to itv.
Alternative methods are available.
-
I think Eubank's superior power will see him though.
-
My five shillings is on DeGale so Eubank only has to turn up. Lee Selby won well enough.
-
There are few things in sport poorer than a crap heavyweight fight.
-
Joyce didn't sound too impressive.
-
Joyce didn't sound too impressive.
He didn't look it.
-
Joyce didn't sound too impressive.
He didn't look it.
He has the slowest looking punches I think I've ever seen at this level.
-
I make it 88-82 Eubank.
-
Time to go James. Hell of a career but it’s done.
-

Every time. I am to boxing tipping what Legion is to buying lottery tickets.
-
I think Eubank's superior power will see him though.
I did say.
-
Anybody else watching tonight's card?
-
Enjoying the fight at the moment.
-
Enjoying the fight at the moment.
Tommy McCarthy didn't.
-
He was all over the place at the end. Have to keep an eye on Riakporhe, seems an impressive guy.
-
I don't know if that was a good performance, or just an opponent who wasn't interested. These NextGen shows are a bit of a waste of time.
-
Boxing returns to the Royal Albert Hall tonight for only the 2nd time in 20 years. If you haven't seen him before, worth having a look at British heavyweight Daniel Dubois. Unbeaten in his 9 fights, 8 kos, Frank Warren rates him very highly.
On BT Sport 1 starting 7.30, thankfully free to watch.
-
Yarde looked really impressive, held a lot back, but looks destined for the big time.
-
Yarde looked really impressive, held a lot back, but looks destined for the big time.
I watched it last night and I wasn't all that impressed. He should be facing better opponents by now.
-
Eyes down and as usual you get nothing for weeks then two cards on the same night.
-
David Price is on tonight. It won't last long.
-
Disgraceful scenes which have no place in boxing.
-
Even if I am the only one watching, Fowler v Fitzgerald is a cracking fight.
-
Was a great fight, get that one on again
-
Was a great fight, get that one on again
Tomorrow. And good to see three good judges cards with a Matchroom home fighter losing a close one.
-
Anthony Crolla took a fearful battering early this morning.
-
Very impressive by Cordina
-
Very impressive by Cordina
I was just about to type similar. I can see him being the next big British star.
-
Agreed Dave, but I think Josh Kelly who’s just about to fight is pretty handy too. Both very good to watch.
-
Actually I take it back. He’s behaving like a bit of a Edit : Oops , sorry tw*t !
-
He should have ended this one long ago.
-
Chisora might well be the most uninteresting top-line fighter of all time.
-
This is truly tedious
-
The boxing equivalent of dog heads v Brighton
-
It's Chisora all over - stink the place out against a couple of journeymen, lose when he steps up for a title fight, then pull off a good win when he looks like falling away.
-
Spot on Dave.
-
This is truly tedious
To be fair to Chisora, his opponent clearly didn't want to engage and was on the run the whole fight. His recent performances against Whyte and Takam were decent.
-
British heavyweight Daniel Dubois topping the bill tonight at the Wembley Arena, if you haven't seen him before worth a look. Only 21, so far 10 out of 10, that's a familiar stat, 9 kos.
Live on BT Sport 1 starts 8pm
-
Tommy Langford doing his best to lose again.
-
But Richards might be one to watch.
-
Richards did look good, Sunny Edwards also pretty tidy
-
Richard Lartey must be the oldest-looking 27 year old since Geri Halliwell.
-
Ha, came to have a go though, lovely shot to finish
-
At the age of 21 Dubois looks a tremendous prospect, when you think Joshua was nearly 24 before he had his first professional fight. The fight against Joe Joyce should be a good one.
-
Enjoyed watching the last 3 fights, Richards, Edwards and Dubois all look like they're destined for great things.
-
I might be the only one in the world watching it but this Ryan Burnett fight has started off well.
-
I might be the only one in the world watching it but this Ryan Burnett fight has started off well.
What channel?
-
I might be the only one in the world watching it but this Ryan Burnett fight has started off well.
What channel?
ESPN, or something beginning with 's'.
-
Well that was a strange ending but Burnett was doing well.
-
Anyone watching tonight?
-
Anyone watching tonight?
Yup, pretty much as expected thus far.
Found it interesting that GGG was called out for BJ Saunders. I wanted that fight a couple of years ago but it would've made sense before Canelo robbed - sorry, beat... - Golovkin and before Saunders fell off the wagon.
-
Didn't really learn much new from the Wilder fight other than confirmation that he can punch. Got caught himself though and was rocked for a shot period before he finished the job.
Next fight has to be either Joshua, Fury or Whyte if there is any sense of credibility. The fact that Luis Ortiz was in the ring after talking about a rematch doesn't exactly inspire confidence though.
-
It might not be up to much but tonight's card is on free TV so be grateful.
-
Alex Dilmaghani looks a good prospect.
-
There's nothing on TV tonight so have a look at this live stream.
-
Joshua in big trouble.
Down twice in the 3rd Round after downing Luiz.
-
Joshua down again in the 7th.
That's it.
Viva Mexico!
-
Crikey. Where does he go from here? I’ve got this theory that once a fighters chin is exposed, he’s never the same again. Even if he wins the rematch , I can’t see Joshua surviving one of Wilders bombs
-
That’s a bad loss for AJ, but I shalln’t leap to judgement. It’s about how he comes back adversity. Well done Ruiz Jr.
-
Tyson was never the same after he lost to Douglas whereas Lewis beat Rahman and never looked back. We will see where Joshua goes from here.
-
Indeed. Can see Wilder came out with his standard lack of grace in response. I look forward to the day he gets beat.
-
Tyson was never the same after he lost to Douglas whereas Lewis beat Rahman and never looked back. We will see where Joshua goes from here.
Yep it’s an interesting one in boxing. I like AJ and I hope he comes back stronger.
-
Just watched it now after avoiding seeing anything about it. Joshua just looked flat right from the off and every time he had an exchange with Ruiz, Ruiz just came back firing.
Will be interesting to see if Joshua can recover from this.
-
It wasn't a good night for Matchroom. Buatsi didn't look too impressive, Josh Kelly was fortunate to get a draw, Katie Taylor scored the biggest robbery since the Great Train and Callum Smith fought a complete no-hoper.
-
Any comments on tonight's action?
-
Kid Galahad to win.
-
Well that was a crap decision.
-
Felt a bit home town decision but in reality neither could complain if they had lost as they both were frantic rather than measured in what they were doing
-
Farcical
-
For a big man Tyson has great movement and speed, looking forward to the re-match with Wilder.
-
Hearts are beating Motherwell on YouTube.
-
I wasn't too bothered about this Khan fight but when Dib decided to taunt Khan 2 minutes in he made himself look a bit of a tit.
-
That was a good finish at least.
-
That was a good finish at least.
Yeah, can't really ask much more of Khan there, landed 3-4 good shots in that last round.
-
There's more boxing on YouTube now.
-
Dubois v Gorman heavyweight bout between 2 young Brits, both unbeaten, Dubois 11 wins, Gorman 16, should be worth watching tonight. Live on BT Sport 1.
-
There's a good undercard as well. Archie Sharp is looking impressive now.
-
Joe Joyce will never be world level.
-
Yeah but Dubois could be world level, at only 21 he's a kid, but was very impressive tonight.
-
Very impressive indeed, and at his age he could be at the top for another fifteen years.
-
I have a mate who's a massive boxing fan who went to watch the Dubois fight. He got chatting with one of his team afterwards and they reckon he's only a few fights away from world title talk.
-
And will Chisora bore his way through another ten rounds?
-
Questions to which the answer is 'No'.
And will Chisora bore his way through another ten rounds?
-
Anyone watching tonight?
-
I don't suppose anyone else is watching tonight, either.
-
Watching tonight. It is some setting for boxing.
Got to see Conlan in Tucson a couple of years ago, interested to see how he has progressed.
-
Keeler/Arias was a good fight.
-
Body shot could change this fight completely
-
Jeeez, that's a bad cut.
-
Jeeez, that's a bad cut.
Nasty cut, close fight
-
Well what a gloriously awaytown result that was.
-
Jenkins looked the better boxer but it wouldn't have been a surprise had it been given the other way.
-
It should have been a stoppage - no way was that accidental.
-
Yeah, they were caused by punches.
-
Job done by Conlan, needs a better test.
-
Anthony Yarde just came close to the upset of the year/decade.
-
Tonight starts with a blistering finish by Buatsi.
-
Only a casual boxing fan, but Lomachenko looked really something else (as, indeed, he was constantly described as being by the commentators). Each time Campbell looked like he'd gotten on top in any given round, however briefly, Lomachenko took it up a gear (against a much bigger opponent and an Olympic gold medallist to boot) and took the round. Excellent stuff.
-
Shakan Pitters from Birmingham just won the English light-heavyweight title.
-
You've got to have some bottle to call a draw in a British title fight at York Hall when one of the boxers is from West Ham.
-
Nigel Benn at the age of 55 is about to start boxing again, I presume he's skint and needs the money. His last professional fight was 23 years ago.
-
Nicola Adams is a scary woman.
-
Daniel Dubois is about to start
-
Daniel Dubois has won.
-
If anyone wants to watch some boxing there's a live card here:
-
Nicola Adams is a scary woman.
I met her briefly in the Corinthia hotel in London. She was happy to chat and have a photo taken with me and my mate who is a huge boxing fan.
-
Am I the only one watching again?
-
Daniel Dubois has won.
With a surname like that he must be a street fighter with desire ;)
-
The MTK tournaments are throwing up some cracking fights.
-
Thought Fitzgerald vs Cheesman was a good fight - surprised it was unanimous
-
Ritson v Davies was a bit special as well.
-
Sure was after first couple of rounds I wouldn’t have put a penny on it going the distance
-
Okolie can punch but he's horrible to watch.
-
Did anyone just watch Chisora v Price?
-
Yeah, was half-watching. Seemed to me like he could have continued for a bit but it was only a matter of time, and you can understand why they didn't want to take any chances following recent events.
-
Taylor is a brilliant fighter & that was a cracking fight - hopefully a rematch will be forthcoming
-
Was thinking the same, on both fronts.
-
If you needed proof that boxing is corrupt then Smith v Ryder last night is your irrefutable evidence.
-
If you needed proof that boxing is corrupt then Smith v Ryder last night is your irrefutable evidence.
The general consensus from the pundits there was that Smith won, but it was a tight one and there were one or two rounds in it at most. I just couldn't see how anyone could come to the conclusion that Smith won the fight by six rounds though.
-
Smith edged it, just, by 6 rounds was a complete farce.
-
And tonight we have a half-full NIA, or Hughie Fury not fighting in Monaco.
-
That was a stoppage and a half.
-
Andy Ruiz is 2/1 to beat Anthony Joshua on Saturday, That must be the value bet of the weekend.
-
Really don't know what to expect in the Joshua fight tonight. Fighters like Tyson and Lewis lost to massive underdogs, but they were more caught by big knockout punches. Joshua fell apart in that last fight though, so it could well be that there are demons there which will resurface tonight.
I suppose there is the case of Wladimir Klitschko who suffered some similar losses earlier on in his career and came back to be a long reigning champion.
I just think it is all on the line for Joshua tonight. He loses, especially in a similar manner to the first time and I can't really see a way back for him.
-
It is a huge weight difference. It’ll be interesting to see how AJ goes.
-
That's some walk on music !
-
Thought Hunter was robbed there.
-
That's some walk on music !
Fela Kuti, Water No Get Enemy, fantastic!
-
That's nearly as good as when Lennox Lewis use to walk out to Crazy Baldheads by Bob Marley.
-
Joshua shouldn't be trying to trade.
-
Who is this fat bastard?
Joshua, despatch him already.
-
Convincing and comfortable win for AJ.
-
It was, but I don't think the next opponents will be worried by what they've seen tonight.
-
Convincing and comfortable win for AJ.
He looks better at this weight, not so much a muscle mountain. That said, he'd do well to hope that Fury takes the belt from Wilder, and get it that way, as I think that one punch from Wilder will knock him out cold.
-
Well done AJ.
-
I do find it funny how some are essentially now criticising AJ for boxing well and not playing into Ruiz’s hands.
-
I thought it would be over in 5 after AJ landed that right in Rd1 that cut Ruiz but fair play, Ruiz has got some jaw on him.
As for the criticism of AJ, he had the plan to beat Ruiz, stuck to it and executed it perfectly.
-
Yep, that was more or less a masterclass. Joshua deserved the criticism after the first fight and Ruiz the credit, but equally, Joshua boxed beautifully second time around. A few blips in the middle rounds aside, it was pretty much an exhibition.
I understand frustration given the price of PPV, but this is boxing, not bullfighting. Yes it can be brutal at times, but anyone who just wants to see blood and thunder should watch MMA or whatever the latest Marvel film is.
-
Andy Ruiz is 2/1 to beat Anthony Joshua on Saturday, That must be the value bet of the weekend.
Bookies love me.
-
This should be a decent fight now.
-
Who's up for this one?
-
Liam Williams was very impressive.
-
Hard to tell Dubois level but he sure got the job done.
-
That punch would have finished any boxer in the world. He needs to step up now - his next opponent should be Christian Hammer/Joseph Parker standard.
-
I like Dubois, he's got knockout power but he doesn't appear to rely on it. He does need to step up in quality now though.
-

Definitely needs to be stepped up, very exciting tho
